Some basic but important information
The breeding protocol was always there as a contingency plan, in case any sort of disastrous event should reduce the human population aboard the colony ship to numbers below expected viable biological diversity through free choice of partner. Even with the colony ship intact and arriving at it's intended destination there was a protocol in place by which each adult man and woman were required to produce at least two children, a third and fourth child giving the parents a financial bonus for each additional child.

The contingency plan however was a little different, firstly in that it required all males and females over the age of 15 to breed at least three children without any promise of a bonus for a fourth or fifth. The children should preferably all be conceived within no more than a year of each other.

Choice of partner for each child was a free choice but also subject to strict regulations:

1. No couple already having produced a child were allowed to produce another until they had filled the mandated quota of at least three more children.

2. If a coupled male and female did not conceive a child within 6 months they were to be assigned new breeding partners.

3. Due to lesser probability of women over forty falling pregnant they were to choose younger males with more viable sperm to breed with and vice versa, younger females with a greater probability of falling pregnant were to choose older males with less viable sperm to breed with.

4. No colonist, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, were allowed to refuse breeding. Punishment for refusing to breed or secretly using any sort of contraceptive was banishment from the colony or be forced to breed without their consent. This applied to both males and females.
the only contraceptives allowed would be condoms or diaphragms to allow husbands and wives to still enjoy sex without risking pregnancy if they already have a child between them. All other methods such as birth control pills or implants, injections and whatever else of a more permanent nature would be illegal.
  • No one should feel that they need to write non-con to fully enjoy our group.
  • Non-con scenes should be labeled as such in the thread name so those wanting to avoid, not read them have a warning.

Don't hold your breath for him having such a moment of so-called clarity.

But it still seems that his ideas and actions are an issue IC as well as, I think, OoC, an issue that seems to be driving the overall story towards something it was never intended to be.

And nothing has been set in any sort of permanency, stone included. What I've at least been saying are all maybes and hypotheticals and I wonders. OOC, I'd personally love for the characters to stay together but I am only one person playing two characters out of a couple dozen. In the end I have little choice but to watch the chips fall where they may.

Makes me wonder why I sometimes have these bright ideas about characters outside the accepted social norm. Or rather why I listen to myself when I have them.

I'm enjoying everything that been happening so far :D I'm sure Lucas will clash with people soon :p

Uh-oh, I didn't mean to use my license to kill, to kill the whole dang RP!! LOL!

(No worries, I merely look at the lack of activity and joke about it. No biggie.)
"Lack of activity?" I'm NOT sorry that people here have jobs and families and lives off the internet. I can barely keep up with the scenes that I'm in. I suggest you expend more of your OOC time and effort on developing ideas for other scenes with other writers rather than commentary on how others play the game. You're constant OOC need for attention drains my interest in RPing with you IC, I would love to have spent the time I spent writing this on some IC writing before I go to work. But I find it necessary to back up our moderator and fellow writer instead.
If that happens, it'll happen because of the final part of the breeding protocol, or the protocol overall. Assuming this to be the case, I'm genuinely curious how many women will opt to remain with the faction/camp that decides that rape in the name of the breeding protocol is fine. I assume that number will not be very much higher than zero. Because that part of the protocol affects (and potentially traumatizes) them the most.
Moderating is a difficult and thankless job, but it is necessary and I think @MsBloom is doing a great job. I can see where she is being worn down with what seems like commentary on how the game is set up and now how she plays one of her characters. You are bordering on kink shaming, a kink that I also happen to enjoy. I'm NOT sorry our little dystopian world isn't all rainbows and unicorns. I'm NOT sorry this isn't Star Trek. I was just in a ST group with you that died early. You even made a comment that it happens to ALL groups here.

Seems like this RP is, as all other group RPs, dead.
Attitude has a lot to do with it. I suggest you change yours or find another group. I won't let you poison this one. This is your warning @captain_bond you will not get another.

I'm sure Lucas will clash with people soon

Jaali might be the first one trying to protect his sister, or Khandi trying to protect her daughter. I'm sure once Cait is back on her feet she too might confront Lucas, and Capheus about their interpretation of the breeding protocol. But that's a bridge to cross or burn once we get to it.

I'm looking forward to it MsBloom. I'm loving everything so far. I'm sure they both will want to protect Abeba for what's coming with Lucas. Cait is welcomed to confront Lucas for what's happening as well.

Oh my fucking God!! I am NOT kink shaming, and for fuck sake I just made a "did I kill the chat" joke!! If I am gonna be bitched at every time I open my mouth, then perhaps it's time I left. Everyone else, it's been fun but apparently overreaction is the order of the day with one of our esteemed moderators, and that cannot be what I wake up to every morning.

Let’s try to calm down everyone. If it was just a joke it fell flat, but that happens especially in text where you can’t feel the inflection. Let’s try to see there was some misunderstanding and improve as we move forward.

Oh, well the part where I said "Watch out" is simple enough to explain. IC because of what killed my characters. OOC, well, you all saw.

If you're looking for an explanation of why I decided to leave, then I'm not sure what to tell you except read the relevant posts.

I set it before Owen and Riley's encounter because Riley and Owen seem a little familiar with each other in their other scene together.

I should have some posts up tonight. I'm still at work until 10, but then I'm hanging around here until 11. So I'll have an hour and my laptop. Hope everyone is doing well.
