New Student at Superhero High (KiraMusani x Frozen Princess)

Cover Girl sent so many mixed and flirty signals Amber's way, it was certain to confuse the scientist as well, if possible. After clearing her throat a bit uneasily, she said, "Ms. Amber and I... Have to discuss something, so... Whichever bed you don't choose, we'll share." It also wasn't lost on the Joe operative the similarities, but Amber didn't look THAT much older than her 29. She was letting her feelings get in her way of her logical thinking, as even if Amber was just two years older, she stood a much better chance of being Alina's mom than Cover Girl did, who only wanted to be Alina's mom, which by the little interaction witnessed, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to see the maternal instincts, if Amber was paying attention.

"So..." Cover Girl blushed as she rubbed the back of her head, "You... Ahhh... Meant that about an, uhm, ocean cruise?"

Alina nodded and stood up, going over to one of the beds and getting situated as Amber walked off with Cover Girl.

Amber looked at her with a smile that only grew as she heard her question.
"Well, yeah, once the threat is handled, and Alina is finally truly free I know what she will want, the same thing she has wanted for a long time, to see the world. And a boat might be a fun way to do that, slow... but that would only give us more time together. And I heard how you have taken on the umm, the mother role, for Alina, and that you care a great deal for her. If you want to come and she wants you there, I would be happy for you to join us. And maybe another friend for Alina if she chooses"

Cover Girl put her arms around Amber's waist. "My real name is Courtney. I know you were given a crack team, at least by now, to help with a certain project, which I don't need to know about. My job's Alina. I've noticed the similarities between you two, and can't help but wonder... Unless I'm a train wreck myself from the goings on, you two could be related. And if so, why would the other scientists discount what you say that would benefit her? Too many questions, for now." A clearing of her throat before bumbling into her next question. "I suppose you noticed the crush... There really is something about a girl in uniform." Screenshot_20220609-101509.png

Amber double-checked that Alina was out of earshot before she replied.
"Heh, right Courtney, is that what I should call you then?" She whispered in response.
"You aren't going crazy, to my shame, I am her biological mother, you probably wonder how I could let her grow up like that, aren't you? And to the scientists, my being her mother, gave me no special say on anything, they simply believed they knew better. Besides their priorities were not her, they were the thing she was being used to destroy or capture." She replied before taking a deep breath and smiling at her crush statement.

"Only thing that I like more than a girl in uniform myself, is a smoking redhead." She smiled and placed a hand on hers.
"Though figurative smoking, not literal, that is actually quite a nasty habit and bad for your health."

Cover Girl smirked, "Of course you can call me Courtney. I've already told Alina she can call me 'Mom Courtney' and she can tell me anything." She shook her head. She took both hands in hers and led Amber to the couch and sat down, patting the spot next to her. Once Amber sat, she'd find Courtney's arm around her shoulder."Well, knowing that makes this next question a little easier. I didn't hear what was mentioned in the room with the brass, heroes and Charles, and I take it from Quincy, if anything has to do with Alina, I'll be told. I'm beginning to suspect that you weren't much of a priority either. And you were a fellow scientist. You were as much a second class citizen as most other women, in their minds... Do you have ANY idea why they thought they knew better, or were all those in charge of the male of the species?Any proof like papers saying they were in charge? Don't get me wrong, some of the brass above me, General Hawk and Admiral Ledger for example, I'd risk my life for. Others? Either living in the dark ages when women really WERE second class citizens, or constantly thinking with the wrong organ, if you follow me."

It would be clear why Courtney wanted to talk to Amber in the living room. She was suspecting Amber might have had some of that emotional abuse and actually was hoping she could take that off, or if true, use it to get Alina her silverware.

Amber didn't know what to expect when she admitted this to Courtney, she took a deep breath before joining her on the couch and just listened as she asked her questions.
"What? Oh no, there were both female and male scientists ahead of me, to be honest when it came to many aspects of our work they knew more than me. And they had seniority. Though the ratio was about five to one for a male to female respectively. But that is just kind of the field right now." She shrugged not thinking much of it.

"I initially joined wanting to help save the world, I had no idea that when I had my first and only daughter it would fall under the contracted clause: (If a person or persons or object(s) under your guardianship/rule are deemed required for mission completion you hereby forfeit said person/object(s) until deemed no longer of consequence.) I mean and after that I had to stay, hoping that one day I would get her back." She admitted.
"So umm, I do not think what you are assuming is the case, though there are some real jerks there, I do not think it was solely for my gender, at least not from all of them." She paused a moment.
"Has Alina told you about the things they did?"

Cover Girl shook her head. "Not personally. I've read Dr. Quincy's reports though. Mandatory reading as it's in my job description." She shook her head. "Someone needs to go over that contract as children should never be waived for the benefit of science. Especially considering what a child can experience." Cover Girl actually looked a little sick from seeing the connection between how both were treated. "You had to give up your rights to your own daughter and then watch them treat her like that?" She stood up and went over to the computer. "Did Quincy and Brinker show you their preliminary assessments, or am I the only one that knows the connection?" She was keeping her voice down, but couldn't help her sniffing and the formation of tears trying to come out. Although at the computer desk, Courtney's hands were still on the back of the chair in front of the computer.

"You are the only one, and if I can see those reports maybe I can fill in some parts she may not have mentioned. I am ashamed to admit, that there were so many things I could not protect her from. Certain experiments people were fired for, due to ethical and moral standards that were breached in the so-called name of science. I truly do understand that they were putting the goal above her needs. But sometimes they just went too far" She admitted, not even being able to look toward Alina as she said it, so looked at the ground instead.

Cover Girl shrugged, and tried to open the file. "Uh oh." She tried again and the same error message popped up, so she showed Amber. The message was a square box with a red explanation point that stated: "You are not authorized to view this unless you put in your medical or psychological ID Number, and it matches the numbers on file."

Courtney grabbed the landline phone and called Quincy. "Emilia, Cover Girl, GI Joe. You know acting mom to Alina? Oh? Brinker is in charge of her case now? Yes, I'll hold." She covered the mouthpiece of the phone and asided to Amber. "I hate red tape but we're going to do this the legal way and jump through the hoops." She apparently got Brinker. "Allison, Courtney. Why can't I access Alina's medical and psychological files any more? Uh huh. Uh huh. I see. I've got vital information... After Alina's evaluation tomorrow?" She looked to Amber. "Can you at least tell me now why I'm denied access? Oh. My God. I didn't even mention that yet. Well except to Charles so we can visit with Alina at breakfast." Her head dropped. "Yes. Thank you, counselor. Good evening."

Cover Girl hung up the phone and shut everything down on the computer. "Charles isn't taking a chance. In an attempt to keep Alina from bolting, even by accidentally seeing the preliminary evaluation, my access has been denied. Brinker has a preliminary assessment as well. PTSD. Social anxiety. Undiagnosed trauma, other. I have my own meeting with Brinker after Alina's. I recommend that you come with me and tell her... If we're lucky, we both should get access to the files again. I don't show up for my scheduled appointment, I don't get access. And remember, this is doctor/patient confidentiality now, so... We're it that know. Brinker said she REALLY hopes she's wrong about the first preliminary diagnosis." She sank into the chair in front of the now turned off computer.

Amber watched and waited eagerly for Courtney to finish on the phone and catch her up on what was happening and why she lost access. As she heard the explanation her heart sank, and as she then heard the pre-diagnosis she moved back and had to sit down her hands covering her face.
"I am the world's worst mother... I should not even be able to call myself that." She spoke softly so even if Alina was trying to listen in she would not hear.

Cover Girl took a breath to gather her own out of whack emotions. "As Ledger would say, 'belay that, landlubber!' What did you just get through telling me about the clause in your contract? They would have fired you and kept her anyway, right? Do you have your contract, still? There may yet be a chance to get out of this mess intact, and it'll involve your signed contract. Forewarned is forearmed. It's a lot truer than you may think, and may just save YOUR bacon. Right now, we Joes have another saying that fits, and I'm sure you've heard it. 'We have met the enemy, and he is us.' However, in this case... It could be the contract that we can use to hoist certain paper pushers within your organization by their proverbial petards. We'll still be leaving the SCIENTISTS alone, as per the President's orders, but we'll go after the desk-jockeys. The ones who wrote the clause. I wonder if the President is aware of that clause and how it was abused? But first, if you have it, the contract so I can read the exact wording." There was a smirk playing on Courtney's face that wanted her hypothesis to be true. She doubted that any president for several terms, knew about it. "You're not a bad mother. You just made a lot of questionable choices that may not have been choices, after all. You may yet have been victimized. By a rule."

Amber wiped her tears away and looked up at her.
"Thanks but not on me no, in my office, back in the lab. though I remember having a lawyer present, it all seemed pretty air-tight to my recollection. Anyway, trying something through that route won't help us now, I think we should focus on the future, helping Alina recover and get used to things here so she feels like she does not need to run away to be free, and to figure out what we are going to do about the threat that caused all this in the first place."

Courtney made a face. "Fat lot of good it does there unguarded..." Maybe she shouldn't have said that out loud. "That man at the gate with you, I trust about as much as I could lift him with a pinkie. And since I'm not Supergirl..." She looked at the time, "... In fact, she best be asleep..." A deep breath. And Amber would be happy to hear and see that Cover Girl knew how to calm herself a lot better than a certain harried school physician, before continuing, "Which doesn't sound like a bad idea. It's after midnight. I have no idea when Reveille will get played and we both have a busy morning." She held out a hand to Amber.

6am

Doo-doot-doo-doo-doo
Doot-doo-doo-doo
Doot-doo-doo-doo, doot-doo

Blaaarrrttt, thump YAAAAAAAÀAAA!

Cheetah: I warned ya I would hoist you if I heard your bugle one more time, Bugle Girl of Company B! Everyone can now salute YOU as they go by the flagpole!

Cover Girl looked out the window and saw the hapless bugler hoisted by her belt loops swinging right below the flag, screaming and begging to be let down. Making a face, she grabbed her pants and a robe, as well as her shower slippers, and headed outside to lower the poor scared to death bugler, as far as her instrument, it had tooted it's last note as Harley's baseball bat was laying next to the flattened instrument and itself, meaning the bat, was broken in half.

Amber would have to deal with the commotion in the hall, and would find Velocity upside down in a trash can, and Wonder Woman rubbing her head, blinking with a knot on her forehead. Velocity, in tears, would have a matching one where Cheetah had slammed their heads together, before depositing the hapless speedster in the trash.

"Oh. She's done it now. Expelled for sure..." Diana mumbled. "Science lady? Why is there three of you?"

Amber sighed and gave Diana an ice pack.
Hold this on your head, and stay awake okay I'll need to check for a concussion. She told her before going to also help velocity.

Meanwhile, Alina was still asleep in the room, apparently having slept through the commotion. Though if Ivy went to find her since no one mentioned anything to her would simply find Alina missing from her room.

Diana nodded. "I'm awake, and aware of the protocol for a concussion. I've had to give a few myself." She put the ice pack on the welt. "Windy's got probably the hardest head among the students, besides Supergirl. I'm afraid I never got your name." She closed her eyes and counted softly to herself, opening them again at the words, "and ten." After opening them again, she commented. "I'll keep the icepack, thank you, at least, you're back to only one of you."

Meanwhile, the bugler, who's name turned out to be Jennifer, even when back on solid ground, wouldn't let go of Cover Girl's neck, hanging onto the Joe like she was a six foot scarf. Or nearly six foot tall, if she'd stand up straight. She was still looking a bit like a scarf yet, when Cover Girl reached the hall. "What the hell...? Let me guess. More Cheetah temper tantrum."

Princess Diana nodded as she sat Velocity next to her and held up three fingers. "How many fingers do you see, Wins?"

"Cheetah. I mean... Diana, how are you holding up six fingers on a double hand coming from the same wrist?"

Diana rolled her eyes and dropped the icepack on the speedster's head. "Here. You need this more than I do."

Cover Girl sighed. "I'll get Alina up, and you another icepack for that welt on your own head, Princess. Hippolyta would have me for target practice she sees that." She then went in , but asked Amber, "Can you please contact Charles and let him know to review the dorm building entrance videotape between 6:02 and 6:05 this morning, please? I have a feeling I know who did it considering the victims. Barbara Ann Minerva. Obviously, she has no interest in ever being a hero."

She then went to Alina's bed and gently shook her, her human scarf still wrapped around her. "Jenny! Please! You're back on solid ground! Get a hold of yourself and let go of me!"

Amber continued to try and help the injured girls, not worried about the sleeping Alina, physical damage was not really an issue for her. So she decided to stay with the two girls, trying to help Windy as Diana seemed to stabilize, asking her questions and checking for a concussion. Though as Cover girl declared what she was going to do and left she reached up.
"Wait! tha- oh, she will figure it out..." She said out loud but was too late before turning back to the girls.

Meanwhile, as Cover Girl tried to nudge Alina her hand slipped across her like she was black ice, covered in grease. She didn't even seem to flinch at the yelling in the room, sleeping sound as could be with everything happening in the room.

Cover Girl was surprised at this and tried again, finally convincing Jenny to let her go. The same thing happened. Cover Girl set her personal alarm right by Alina's ear and shooed Jennifer and herself out the door. "If that doesn't rouse her, nothing will."

Jennifer looked at the alarm. "What's so special about that, I've got something like it in my room. It's clanging bells."

Cover Girl smirked and stood at the door where Amber would hear her. "Not mine. It's military grade and happens to be a recording of a tornado warning siren. I sleep pretty soundly myself at times. That doesn't wake Alina up... Nothing will."

She then went out to the ice machine, filled another bag, and set it on Diana's head. If Amber was going to stop Cover Girl's alarm, she had one minute.

Alina seemed to continue sleeping soundly, it seems she slept like the dead.

Amber meanwhile would call out that it was no use, that Alina wouldn't wake for anything short of an earth quake.

Courtney raced back in the bedroom, grabbed it and shut the alarm off with seconds to spare, as a distinct click of the alarm, set for 6:30 , sounded. "Let's hope she wakes up before eight, then, or we're going to have both Dr. Brinker AND Charles banging at our door. I heard Brinker pounds like the MPs."

She looked at the three students victimized by Cheetah. "Diana, escort yourself and these two to Dr. Quincy. She should be in the office by now. Explain what happened. Amber, call Charles and let him know about our current situation, and if he'll come here. Me, I'll place another call to Brinker." She was right on the phone, sure her other requests would be followed through.

Amber nodded and pulled her phone out, not having any idea how the whole psychic talk would work if she had to somehow start it.
Ring... Ring... "Oh, hey Charles, I trust you heard of all the commotion this morning, yeah... yeah... you got it exactly, I guess you are a mind reader, literally."
Alina meanwhile would actually end up waking up around 8.

Courtney rubbed her face as Alina finally woke up. "Well, good morning Starshine. The world says hello. Straighten your clothes, and just run the comb through your hair. Brinker said she'd give us five minutes. Sorry, sweety, no breakfast. Amber, you and I might as well just hang around the counselor's office, we go in right after Alina, together. Don't mean to rush, ya, Alina, dear, but your evaluation waits for no one."

She looked to Amber as they walked briskly to the counseling office in the school. "From the one sided quick call on your end, Cheetah is expelled and he'll be talking to Alina WITH Dr. Brinker?" She piggybacked Alina to her appointment. Cover Girl could really move when she wanted to, something Amber might want to reserve in her memory banks for later.

At exactly 8:05, they made it to Brinker s office she used when at the school. "Thanks, Courtney. Why don't you rest here and I'll talk to both of you later. Come on in, Alina, we have a little something to talk about before we get started on your assessment. You remember Charles, right?" She was still cordial with Alina, but, unfortunately, Alina would recognize the tone as professional, too.

Alina woke and rubbed her eyes before looking up at Courtney.
"Oh umm morning. Oh, don't worry about any of that." She shrugged and got out of bed, putting some pants on as it seemed she slept without them. Strangely as she stood up, her hair fell down the same as it had been the day before.

As she told Ailna to get on her back she smiled and jumped on, cheering as she ran.
Amber nodded in response.
"Got it in one"

"That was super fun thanks!" Alina said as they arrived and she jumped down.

Amber out of breath now looked to Courtney as Alina went into the room.
"Thanks for that, she never got much fun, before, hopefully, this will help her want to stay."

Alina looked to Brinker and then down at her own feet, feeling like she was about to get an earful from them. She walked into the room with her head sunk.

Courtney shrugged. "You do what you have to do to make deadlines. Brinker would skin both of us, too, then give what's left of me to one of my generals to finish off." A smile played on her face to indicate that Brinker wasn't THAT cruel... But ratting her out to her superior would be something Brinker would do.

Speaking of, Brinker pointed to the chair and then got up on the front of her desk, facing Alina. "I was about to call General Hawk on your acting mom. She knew about your appointment with me this morning, we talked last night and again this morning a little after six.." A deep breath. "You, and Diana and Windy won't have to worry about Cheetah anymore. She finally wore out her welcome and is packing. Jenny and her bugle, and the other commotion she caused this morning was the final straw. Your acting mom will have to do her escort job after she talks to me though. As in escorting Cheetah off the property. I want to hear your side. I heard Courtney's last night. Why'd you try to run away last night?"
