New Student at Superhero High (KiraMusani x Frozen Princess)

Jean winced again. "Ever smell a skunk, Alina? Especially one that is fresh roadkill? Bad thing about it, it's a real flower that smells like that called Crown Imperial. It's got a very unpleasant odor, but then I'm sure any of us can attest, isn't one of us here that is in a very pleasant mood when we're upset. So, of course, someone like Ivy who is attuned to all floral scents, might by instinct, pick it to show her foul feelings on the matter. I don't really think she does have control of what she smells like."

Alina shook her head.
"No I am sorry, I have only really been in the labs or here. The only really bad scent I know of is that stink bomb thing, and even that was apparently much less than it should have been."
She replied before looking at Ivy.
"So you have no control over the flowers or smell? that is like my personal barrier."

Ivy shrugged. "I have no control of even my powers when I'm emotional. Nervous is usually like a spring bouquet kissed by a rain shower. Scared is like woodsy, not sure what, exactly. Has pine, magnolia, primrose... And no control whatsoever of my powers. The plants grow exponentially and are everywhere."

"Oof. I remember that. Charles make a surprise visit to the cafeteria during the students' lunch time a few days after the accident while Fuller was still your principal and they ended up having to close the cafeteria for a few days. The X-Men students JUST started, ahead of him taking over as head of the faculty. You had accidentally turned the cafeteria into a jungle. Fuller hit the roof and read you the riot act. I STILL say that was wrong of her. That wasn't your fault. I never ate so much pizza I did those two days..."

Jean neglected to include Quincy reading FULLER the riot act for making Ivy feel so ashamed. Maybe Crystal or Kitty would.

Ivy nodded. "I remember. You stuck up for me as I had my first talk with Mr. Charles. Thanks again, Jean. That meant so much."

Kitty leaned on Jean and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"So proud of my girl. But don't forget that Quincy tore down fuller for jumping on you like that as well. And that you have come a long way since then"

Alina looked around at each of them, before trying to help Ivy.
"Oh, well maybe one day we can learn to control all aspects of our powers. Jean, you have full control, right? and There must be a reason they picked you to help me here, maybe it was because you know what it is like to have a hard time controlling your powers?"

Jean nodded after a smile to her girlfriend for the kiss. "Like you weren't thinking it along with 90% of the other heroes. And I didn't need to be a mind reader to see the disappointment and surprise on everyone's faces wondering why on earth Ms. Fuller went off like that. I think the majority of the students didn't know how to react. I barely even thought about it. I got a message from Charles to get Ivy, help her calm down, and then come to see him with her." A shrug. "Of course I did, Ivy had just had her feelings hurt by the one person who should have known better."

Ivy smiled sheepish. "That may be true, Kitty, about me doing better, but I'm still easily startled and out of control... Plant powers wise. You should have seen me last week when Batman, Professor X and Dr. Quincy all sat me down for my weekly mental health assessment." She didn't tell anyone that Batman was there to see how much she had progressed once the initial shock and nerves of him being there settled down; he was actually impressed... Although his stoic expression would have been unreadable except by Charles.

She then looked at Alina. "Probably. I just know I've been where you are and still am."

Jean shook her head. "Hardly. I don't think full control by it's very definition is attainable for any of us. We aren't called human for nothing. Having control, yes. I have control. Kitty has control as well, until I surprise her. I think that would be the same for Crystal if hers were a power and not a talent."

"Oi. I'll have ya know, Jeannie, messing with my head can mess up my concentration. I hant got it all together either. Like you pointed out. Not fully. Same reason, I reckon."

Dr. Brinker nodded. "I'm afraid I'm going to have to make it unanimous. My talent is concentration and discernment, which is much needed considering my vocation. I get distracted, I no longer have full control of my discernment abilities, and I've lost control of my concentration."

Ivy smiled at Alina. "So I guess the answer is yes. That's why the two of us are paired up. But a senior who has been at the school a while usually does show someone new around. It also could help if they're struggling with the same things. Just to show the new student, they aren't alone."

Kitty nodded.
"Jean is right, I can still phase on accident if suprised."

Alina looked around.
"Yeah I mean, I think I have good control, definitely not perfect, but I am leagues from when I was a kid, back then I could not even make my own barriers. Now I can make walls and I am close to being able to make dome-shaped ones."

Although Brinker raised an eyebrow, she still couldn't help but nod in agreement. "Which makes me think, if you were allowed to actually have fun with your powers... Jean, for example, sort of showed off by letting her mind rewind Crystal's lasso she had used to bind Jean and Kitty, when she could have done the same thing with her hands just as efficiently. Ivy somehow basically taught a cactus how to be a pet... Though, personally, I'd had a flower, as who'd cuddle a cactus?"

Ivy shrugged but got what the counselor meant. "Spike was the first to start following me by hopping his pot after me. Even I kinda wish it had been the sapling. Ironically, it's a dogwood. But... I'll keep working on it. I kinda would rather a tree, as Spike isn't exactly the most behaved plant..."

Jean rubbed her butt as she made a pained face. "Better behaved than that darned willow was. Ouch. You just walked by it and whomp, whomp, whomp, whomp, whomp!"

"Look at it cross-eyed, too." Crystal grumbled, rubbing hers as well.

Ivy put her forefinger in the air, "And that's why it was sent to that school in England. Even momma got whomped several times by that overly aggressive tree." She also rubbed some phantom ass whipping spot on HER glutes. "I have no idea where it got that from."

Alina could not help but giggle at them.
"Hehe, Okay, so umm like what about non-power-related things? I know that is kind of what links us all but like.. I don't know, Jean and Kitty how did you two end up dating? I don't know how that kind of thing starts." She asked.

Kitty turned to Jean.
"I'll let you take this one love."

Jean rolled her eyes, giggled, gave Kitty a sideways hug and quick lip peck. "How'd I know you were going to say that?" (The psy-link)

She then turned to Alina. "It starts with finding common ground. Talking to the person. Sitting with them at lunch. Learning about likes and dislikes to see if you're compatible. Heh. Listen to me. I had so little in common with Scott, it almost seemed like it was opposites attracted on that. Anyhoo, when you find common interests you build on that." She made a face. "Whatever you do, don't just start dating. Get to know that person first. I don't care what people say... There's no such thing as love at first sight."

Dr. Brinker put a forefinger and thumb to her chin and rubbed. "I'm not sure I can agree fully with you there, Jean. My grandparents did. Or so they both claimed. Wasn't there to see if they got to know each other better before they married, but they made it 70 years, before grandpa passed at 91."

Jean shrugged. "I have to admit that when I first met Kitty it was puppy love. But then I thought Scott was something special despite having pretty much the school in common, and a few other things. Apparently, I wasn't the right one for him after all as he cheated on me with the White Queen of all people.... At any rate, what's past is past. I am happy and have more fun with my Shadow Kitty." She smiled at Kitty while saying that.

Kitty smiled and gave her a pack on the cheek.

Alina nodded along looking between the two of them back and forth as they spoke.
"Oh, so umm, which is it then? And how do I know who to try and date? What is the feeling like that tells me, hey I want to date that person?"

Jean was silent and her brow knitted to a perplexed look. "You just know. It's something you sense in your emotions." She finally shook her head. "I can only speak for myself. With Scott it was butterflies in my stomach. But with Kitty it's been more about my heart. It skips a beat when I hear her voice. Or it feels like it leaps in my chest." She shrugged.

Brinker nodded. "All those are common signs you're in love, along with the sensation of floating on air when you think of the person, or the day seems brighter. It's very personal, Alina."

Jean nodded. "Believe me, Alina, you'll know when it's the right person. It might even be different from the examples Dr. Brinker just gave. But, you'll definitely know."

Alina thought to herself for a moment, looking inward to try and explore her own emotions.
"I.. and what if I never feel those things? Would that mean that maybe I can't be with anyone? What if that never happens?"

Crystal shook her head. "Take it from this sheila, luv. Ya gotta give it a lil time is all. Ya only met four students that ya can call mates. Relax and just enjoy being a high school student. It'll come if ya don't look for it."

"Agreed." Dr. Brinker nodded. "It's not going to happen overnight. Allow yourself a chance to meet some more of your fellow schoolmates, and especially classmates. Show your schedule to Kitty, she's about your age. See if you two have any other classes together except Phys Ed."

"Bonzer idea there, Doc!" Sheila Lasso grinned. Even Jean nodded and encouraged Alina to come over and show the class schedule to Kitty.

Alina nodded and got up, going to sit by Kitty and show her the schedule.
"Maybe we will have lots in common, if not maybe I can change some of my classes, is that possible?"

Kitty pulled herself away from Jean slightly to see the page and read it over.
"Looks like we have all the mandatory classes together and phys ed, and that is about it." she explained.

Ivy smiled. "Well, that's some good news, at least. So Pre-Algebra, World History, PE A which I'm in, then lunch where you'll see me also, Geography and English are the only other two required... Wait... Oh right, Kitty is in my tailoring class cuz she's already had a superhero costume. So... Duh." On the last word she made a idiotic face with her tongue half out, indicating that she was admitting to not thinking.

Brinker just rolled her eyes and chuckled in spite of herself. "Have you got another new comb, Ivy? I didn't plan on being at a sleepover, so THIS sheila doesn't have her comb with her for Crystal to tease my hair."

While Ivy got up to check, this would be another golden opportunity for Alina to either ask about the phone and how to use it, or test if Cover Girl really meant what she said about calling her anytime. It was going on eleven, and everyone would have to be in their dorms (it's after 10, after all), including staff.

Kitty giggled at her face and leaned into Jean lovingly.
"Why are all of our friends so darn cute?"

Alina did indeed take the opportunity to test her phone and rang Cover Girl.

Jean gave a hearty chuckle. She then shrugged her shoulders and gave Kitty a flirty pout before kissing her.

Ivy could be heard shuffling around in the bathroom before coming out and handing a still packaged comb to the counselor, who opened it and proceeded to hand it to Crystal. "Alright. Let's see what you can do with the mess I call a do." Her hair was only mildly straggly, hardly what could be considered "a mess".

Cover Girl grabbed the phone as Alina heard a second ring start, but in reality it had just finished the first few bars of the G.I.Joe theme "Hey kiddo... Contact says it's you, Alina, everything alright? What's up?" She was used to long nights, but she glanced over to the other twin bed in the shared room and mouthed a quick I told her she could. to Amber, letting her know, Alina might call on Cover Girl at odd hours.

Alina looked at the phone for a moment before back to Cover Girl to answer her.
"I was just testing, and umm, making sure that I was right about how I am supposed to use this. Am I able to put other girls' numbers in here too? In case I want to ask them things?" She asked as she fiddled with the phone some more.

Alina was not sure who she was even talking about, perhaps she should add all the girls at the party? Or maybe just Kitty and Ivy, since they were the ones she might be in contact with the most. But did all that really matter? Was she truly going to be able to stay here that long? Or would she be taken back? She could not help but worry as she was left in the dark about the deal that was made. She didn't even know that the scientists had shown up.

Cover Girl's smile could definitely be sensed coming through by her tone. "Yes to both. You're using it right, because you contacted me... Even if it is just a test. And that's your phone, sweetheart, you can have as many contacts as you want in it. Something else bothering you?" She asked concerned as she swung her legs out of bed and grabbed her pants... Just in case.

Alina shook her head.
"I don't know... I umm, it's probably nothing. I umm, I'm just a little worried about the scientists, maybe they will take me back. And I don't know, I kind of am missing it there. Everything here is so unfamiliar." She admitted looking down.

Courtney sighed. "I see. I'd really like you to try to give the school a chance. You just got here. Did something happen at one of Ivy's classes? Or with a student?" She got up and walked to the bathroom, showing Amber basically her well toned hip, thigh and ab muscles, since all she had on was a pair of high cut bikini briefs and a tank top in (of course) camouflage colors, and closed the door behind her. For a bathroom, there would be very little, almost an indiscernible echo. "You can tell me freely, but I also want to remind you about what you've already told us, even by not saying something. It could be overwhelming having people that are actually concerned about how you feel."

Courtney Krieger was going to do her best to be a mom first, something that apparently Alina had never had either. Of course she had a mother. Everyone did. But it sounded like she had no mom and what a mom did and was. It would depend on what Alina said next, whether or not she let Amber say anything. Otherwise she might suggest talking with Brinker, not know that's who the chaperone was.

Amber noticed her on the phone and heard one side of the conversation, distracted by that her mind was quickly pulled away from Courtney's body. She flinched to stand up and opened her mouth to say something but stopped. A concerned look on her face but also a torn one of recognition that there was nothing she was allowed to do.

"I umm, I guess. it's so different here I don't know anyone really, they seem nice and all but I am not used to so many people, it's kind of overwhelming." Perhaps she had some sort of social anxiety?

"Ohhh..." Courtney said calmly. "This is a big school. So tell me, sweety... How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Among your friends you've made, who's closest to your age? If it's not Ivy, I would just kind of stay close to them. Just for now. And as soon as you're able, ask to see the counselor again. Tell her you'd like to pick her brain on something. She'll understand you want it off the record, and if she's any kind of counsellor at all that you can trust, she'll honor your request. Just sounds like jitters to me. Believe me, it's indeed overwhelming, but if you take it slow... Bite by bite, in other words... You'll be okay. Remember what I told you in the hall about going to a teacher or even another adult first? I'm going to amend that slightly. Just go to Quincy or Brinker. And of course, you have my number, too. I'm just a call away. Any time. Anything else?" She'd have to get dressed to give Alina a hug and face to face. But if it was social anxiety, Brinker was right there for Alina to talk to, as the chaperone, which Cover Girl wouldn't know unless Alina told her. She wasn't privy to the sleepover participants.

Alina paused for a few seconds before she responded.
"Umm, c-could you maybe make it so I can just stay in my room tomorrow? Like alone?" She asked nervously, a slight tremor in her voice.

Cover Girl nodded, momentarily forgetting Alina couldn't see that. "Sure. If that's what you want. Let's see, tomorrow is Saturday. Why don't you go to breakfast first? If you want, tell your friends you want to turn in for the night. Let someone know there you'd like to be by yourself. If they really have your back, they'll understand. Is there anything else you'd like from Mom Courtney?"
