Calm Before the Storm OOC Chatter

Xanaphia, it was mentioned a bit how much money she was owed, and I assume a lot of that money goes to her "organization" that makes her effectively a diplomat, but maybe getting stiffed for pay is a huge black mark she wants to avoid?

Want me to shoot him for you? Perhaps we would feel sorry for him and keep him from getting captured even though it puts you at risk.
Umm, maybe? Haha, I am working through it. I just need to find a good conflict to Alythra to wraggle with.

That's a possibility, but I am resilient to the idea that the money so much more valuable than her morals.

Think of it as more pride in work taking care of her business, respect among peers, etc. Perhaps (and this is risky) wanting to find a non-violent way to make him pay for the crimes as well as pay her earnings.

Or, separately, we could "rig" things a bit and have Corscant security chasing her with deadly force in reaction to what happened and her desire for self-preservation being the big thing.

LASTLY, maybe she gets away from Sev, finds Jiljoo, and escapes with her, only to find Sev on the ship as well.

hmm, I sort of like the idea that she gets branded an accomplice, and now that Sev had killed two agents, they are all taking a shoot first ask questions later approach to the situation. Think that's the angle I willapproach this from, should have a post up sometime tonight.

As it turns out, Alythra's own training in counseling criminals was the best motivation for her to go along with Sev. She has no reason to believe he won't kill her if she got in the way of his escape. Once he is no longer under the pressure of evading capture, she can launch into her therapeutic techniques for getting him to give up his life of crime.

Decided to give Kam and Larasen a secondary reason to get the hell outta there- the Lucky Hand has the equivalent of a BOLO (be on lookout) placed on it for some such reason. Probably involved in some illegal thing; aren’t most smuggling ships? :p

Someone’s a mind reader. :p

Seriously, though. I was already working out some sort of plan to have the Hand’s former owner be involved in an illegal spice ring. Or something like that, anyway.

Oh, I thought it was tied to Sev. So what are you thinking here? Take off without permission?

Something like that, yeah. I think it’ll help give the push to get the heck off the planet. I figure that since Jiljoo and Sev know each other, he and Alythra can pick them up and rendezvous with Kam and Lar somewhere relatively “safe”.

It is fine by me but I thought we were trying to stay kind of neutral? Sev of course has some issues but technically no one really knows who he is so he could make a getaway and the ship could not get wrapped into it.

I don't think we established any real connections between Jiljoo and Sev. I think it would be easy enough to send a 'get back here' message to them if there is trouble. They could help with the immediate troopers so they could get away if that is the route we are going. But it also might be fun to have Kam charm his way out of it. Perhaps Xan or I could play a female Imperial Customs official ready to inspect the ship? A short term role but might be fun, I realize we left you two boys alone on the ship without much to do.

It's a good point about not wanting to burn too many bridges here. Having the ship tagged is very different than having one crew member with a serious crime.

Even if we decide Sev and Jilljoo don’t know each other, we could have Sev and Alythra run into Jilljoo and Nykei while trying to get away from the Imperials. Either Jilljoo or Nykei recognize Alythra as their client and go to help her, getting them embroiled in Sev’s troubles. Alythra might then insist that Sev he brought along so he can settle accounts - morals might be more important than money to our lovely envoy, but Sev still owes her a lot of money, so there’s still a financial consideration.

That might just work. Xan’s already playing two characters, though...

And yeah, we did kinda leave Kam and Lar without really much to do. Not that I’m complaining by any means.

"Gentlemen, I need to inspect the ship."
"Oh, we'll give you something to inspect, alright."

Porn logic aside, that could be fun. Maybe Lea wants to write that, since I am already embroiled in other areas of the plot?

Anyways, my plan for getting everyone back together and on the same ship is as follows: Sev and Aly make a frantic dive into the lower levels, intending the lose the LEOs. Maybe they are more or less successful, but crash in the process, nearby where Nykei and Jiljoo are shopping. Sev is injured, and, if left, could be killed. Dead men don't pay their debts, nor can they reform their criminal behavior, so Alythra insists on bringing him along. This could coincide with Kam calling on all of them to "return to the ship, NOW" leading us on a desperate unauthorized take-off.

If no one has any objections, I will handle the crash and meeting of the two sets of characters on my next post, which should be sometime today. Probably later, depending on how involved the post ends up being.

I don't mind playing the inspector but if we are going to wrap this up in a post or two it probably isn't enough time to make it worth it. I for one am in no hurry but I don't want to hold up the main line story either.

Crashing sounds like a handy way to resolve the chase, yeah. It also gives Sev a reason to have lost the duffel bag he’s carrying, since it’s his emergency stash of precious stones and the like and would totally cover what he owes Alythra.

As far as the question of playing minor characters is concerned, I think my record shows that I’m perfectly willing to do so at any time, sometimes to the point that they become characters in their own right. But yeah, let’s not bog the prolog down too hard.

I agree we shouldn't get too carried away in the prologue, certainly no more than 7 or 8 chapters. I am glad we are getting out of this without getting in more trouble. While Kam handles the inspector (literally and figuratively ) I can have Lar handle getting a hold of the rest of the crew. Maybe instead of us telling them to hurry, Sev alerts us to the danger he is in.

I really like this idea, especially because female Inperial officers are few and far between, and generally looked down on.

And yeah, either route (Kam calling for the crew to return or Sev calling for help) is fine with me.

I think she might be a recurring character, and I'm going to play her as on the take. She can be a smuggling contact and a "Port of Call" for our Captain and possibly crew. Assuming she doesn't get abducted or something but I think that would be bad for staying neutral.

Good thinking, Lea. Having a contact in the Empire should somewhat offset Sev's "legal difficulties." Not to mention...more sexy women.

Ehh... I’m not a big fan of threesomes, if Kam and Kara end up going into he captain’s quarters. Which they just might.

That's quite a limitation for such a small crew :(

Though the porn music hasn't started yet and considering the timing of the speeder crash I doubt there would be time. It is probably safe to bring the mechanic into the scene without too much danger to your Puritan sensibilities:p

Besides, competition can be a fun thing!
