Calm Before the Storm OOC Chatter

@Xanaphia - Has Nykei already weaponized her mechanical arm or is that something we can explore? Just confirming Lars was your mechanic, have they been together the whole time then? I might have missed that part.

I figure it has a few functional options, soldering iron, and maybe a taser (I imagine her being able to deliver a minor shock at closer range. Enough to temporarily stun a human-sized being.) And maybe a fun attachment too. ;)

Though, since KC and I were discussing this, his character mostly tends to the droids. My character is more inclined towards the vehicles, though there is some overlap. They worked together for awhile, first as a part of her racing team, then did some freelance work together after she quit racing.

Sounds good to me. Perhaps Sev takes Alythra hostage in an attempt to escape and evade the authorities? I am into the idea of them flirting while he has a blaster on her. If this turns into a speeder chase throughout the city, perhaps other members of the crew see it, and try and get involved?

Either way, Sev proves worth to the crew, and Alythra insists he works off his debt to her.

So, are you suggesting a mini-adventure on Coruscant before we leave for Taris? I am down for that if we aren't too picky. Thoughts on how Alythra insists the debt is worked off?

yeah, something simple makes sense. Neither Nykei nor Lar have medical training, nor did they have a lot of money, so it couldn't be *too* good. And they've been together (working/co-residing) off and on since she was 17-ish? We didn't nail down a date.

I just have to say- I love the amount of depth and thought everyone is putting into this.

Here’s to a long-lasting role play!

(I wrote that part, by the way. I am guessing you deleted the wrong quote string.) Yep on the mini-adventure. It wouldn't be very "Star Wars"-y if things went exactly to plan.

Hmm, you bring up a good point. She isn't going to want to encourage him to get into more illegal activities to repay her. Maybe she'll insist on indentured servitude? Possibly as security? Actually, this is bringing up an important aspect of her characterization, because she isn't a criminal, and doesn't support criminal acts.

Now, she wants to stay with the crew, because she believes they can all be better. Does this motivation make her tolerate small stuff, in hopes of effecting greater change? "Okay, maybe they are stealing stuff, but at least they aren't killing people?" Maybe this leads to conflict further down the line.

If things went exactly as Sev planned, we’d be adjourning to another thread... :)

And, clearly, I’m down for the mini-adventure on Coruscant.

So, let's say before the story started, Sev met with Ghoutta to arrange a meeting with him on Taris, posing as someone interested in purchasing some pricey artwork (yeah, that's right). The meeting was a success in that Ghoutta seemed to buy the con, seeing the banker in his home accompanied by multiple escorts, and agreed to have Halfri visit him on Taris (likely with Alythra again, and perhaps this time Jiljoo, who he can claim to have as a recent acquisition, and Kam, who would serve as his attendant, piloting the ship and generally handling things).

That gives the group 4 members to go into the thick of things (one of whom doesn't fight, though). Meanwhile, Nykei and Larasen will make their way through a different entrance, unannounced, to pretend they are interested in getting back into racing. Being unexpected and a little suspicious, they will be left with a pair of security droids they will have to take out and then make their way into the garage and steal a landspeeder and astromech droid modified to do swoop bike track analysis.

As for the mini-adventure, Sev and Alythra are being barged in on, and Jiljoo and Nykei are out on the town, so all 4 will have to make their way to the ship piloted by Kam, with Larasen and a droid providing cover fire. Thoughts?

Sounds like the right sort of mini adventure to kick things off!

I don’t think I mentioned it in Kam’s profile, but he is an accomplished pilot himself, and his Force-sensitivity adds to his skill. Larasen and a droid (or two) providing covering fire would be a good thing, too.

If we were operating under porn logic, the two officers would have joined Sev and Aly in the shower, in order to make the problem go away. Not that i am going to go write that alternate scene or anything, lol. ^.^'

Porn logic would have been so much more fun than killing two IFR officers and then grand theft speeder. Still, needs must when the devil drives.

If anyone's curious, "Snowmen" was the slang term for Stormtroopers in the Han Solo trilogy written by Brian Daley. Good books, if you can find them.

I’ll have to find those. The only Han Solo trilogy I know of was written by A.C. Crispin. Also really good books, if you get a chance to find them.

Yeah, shit definitely got real. I'm not too worried about him being a "cop killer," but he did just promise to indefinitely pay Alythra her going rate.

Technically, he’s not a cop-killer. Not in this scene, anyway.

Those were Imperial Revenue and Finance Agents. More like the IRS r the Secret Service. Huge difference, really.

:)

I'm thinking a sudden reunion between Alythra and Jiljoo could get these two groups together just as it gets exciting.

I not sure Alythra will be convinced by the distinctions. I am actually in a difficult place, because I am not sure I can justify her going along with Sev. This might be why I tend to shy away from such characters.

Want me to shoot him for you? Perhaps we would feel sorry for him and keep him from getting captured even though it puts you at risk.
