I argue that this is entirely relevant to the story.

I... hadn’t intended to.

Well, hell. I sure did. Sorry about that! Let me tweak my post a little. And then, let me work on my reading comprehension.

•Edit•

And, fixed! Again, sorry about that!

Alright, we are approaching Taris now, and we have a vague plan. Are we bringing Alythra in on the plan (who would want to help, but would be wary about getting involved in illegal activity)? Or should she get an independent job, perhaps meeting with the real Iantho Halfri? She might be the one who discovers he is working with Ghoutta.

I just had an idea for her and Iantho to attend a party put on by Ghoutta, and run into Sev, Kam and Jiljoo at this party. Bonus points if she has no idea about their plans to rip off the crime lord. Any other suggestions are also welcome.

Somewhere I remember seeing an overview of who was gonna do what, but I can't find it. Can someone re-post it?

So, let's say before the story started, Sev met with Ghoutta to arrange a meeting with him on Taris, posing as someone interested in purchasing some pricey artwork (yeah, that's right). The meeting was a success in that Ghoutta seemed to buy the con, seeing the banker in his home accompanied by multiple escorts, and agreed to have Halfri visit him on Taris (likely with Alythra again, and perhaps this time Jiljoo, who he can claim to have as a recent acquisition, and Kam, who would serve as his attendant, piloting the ship and generally handling things).

That gives the group 4 members to go into the thick of things (one of whom doesn't fight, though). Meanwhile, Nykei and Larasen will make their way through a different entrance, unannounced, to pretend they are interested in getting back into racing. Being unexpected and a little suspicious, they will be left with a pair of security droids they will have to take out and then make their way into the garage and steal a landspeeder and astromech droid modified to do swoop bike track analysis.

Here is what you proposed a while back, just seeing how we can throw more wrenches into the plot. Partially a away to keep Alythra's hands clean, because she isn't about that crime life. If anyone has any other suggestions or ideas I am interested in listening.

Jiljoo is perhaps a little zealous and is willing to die in the process, I'm hoping the rest of you talk her out of it if and when it comes up. I don't expect her to get her way, so don't feel like you have to go along with her. I do like the idea of Ghoutta losing a game of chance to Kam with Jiljoo as part of the bet. I'm not sure how they would hide their plan from Alythra. Is there some element of revenge she might go along with, as long as she didn't think they would kill him? I'm not real sure just what her diplomatic mission is in our story. Would the Empire act against him if they had proof? Perhaps the Rebels. Maybe he could be framed into appearing to support the Rebel Alliance and the Empire would do the work for us?

Just some rambly early morning thoughts...

I ran with the “framed into appearing to support the Rebel Alliance” idea, and gave us an excuse to bring Lieutenant Kara Starglow back into the plot. She strikes me as an ambitious and morally flexible Imperial Customs agent, after all. Even if Sev doesn’t know she exists.

As far as Alythra is concerned? Maybe she could be persuaded that the rest of the crew is involved in a legitimate sting operation? I dunno.

I agree with Soran, is a good plan. My main point is that Jiljoo seema to have the eye-candy bait part down, so I was looking for a different part Alythra could play. Mostly, I was interested in contrasting Sev's treatment of Alythra (while he posed as Iantho) with the real Iantho's treatment odf her. If we think that is too many plot threads at once, we can ignore it.

As far as the plan, i imagine we are going to play out this intial meeting with Ghoutta, and likely the first round of gun smuggling, and just gloss over future trips. Or does something go sour in our planning?

So, is the plan to have multiple dealings with Ghoutta before making the move now? Also, rather than have it be rebel alliance, maybe it is just appearing to support a rebellion on an unaffiliated, 3rd world world?

Well, Saw Gerrera is a fringe actor in the rebel alliance, so it's not exactly helping the rebels in full.

Yeah. As I understood it, he’s an extremist who won’t associate with the Rebel Alleged an even, hol d up on some backwater world mostly populated by religious zealots.

I don't know. I feel like this is a big change to just spring on us with an IC post when there has been so much time to coordinate. And now we are taking steps toward being associated with the rebellion, even if just in "fringe."

Also, perhaps even bigger, I no longer feel I have any idea what is going on with this plan or what role, if any, my char has in it.

Well, there’s nothing wrong with stepping in and presenting a different plan. Sev gets ambitious, after all...

Well, you don't have to worry about Larasen getting ambitious. Enjoy the story.

I'd really like to see Lars stay on. Right now they are just talking ideas, nothing has happened yet. I don't think using the Empire and Rebels to do away with Ghoutta is taking sides. Of course the plan could also go wrong.

I am in a similar position myself, seeing as Alythra feels redundant when Jiljoo is part of the meeting group, which is why I am trying to find another direction to send her. As For Nykei, she isn't going ot be interested in playing nice with Ghoutta (or at least acting like she will) so she will likely sit out that meeting (meetings). If you or Lar want to present a different plan, let's discuss it, because Nykei might be interested in a different plan as well.

Actually I think we need more plot threads. I see the whole Ghoutta thing as an overarching story line but we have chapters of interactions between players as the larger story slowly plays out.

There can easily be a traitor in the mix as well, that can easily throw the plan into disarray. We are already seeing mixed loyalties. I'm also willing to play characters that come and go in the story. It sounds like Kara will have an opportunity to come back. Jiljoo could literally become 'collateral' for a time, with another of Ghoutta's slaves or operatives switching sides to take her place. Jiljoo hasn't even had a chance to get to know our medical droid yet! Lots of side stories available.

Speaking of side stories, I'm also open to exploring some of these relationships either in 1x1 threads or PM. So let me know if you are interested in a side scene.

I agree with this, actually. I do believe the Ghoutta thing could be the overarching story, with multiple subplots weaved into the narrative.

I think we’ve already talked about divided loyalties, in an earlier post, though I can’t remmeber who brought it up. I am all for seeing this play out, with the crew ending up on opposite sides. Granted, that doesn’t absolutely have to happen, especially if we are focusing on Ghoutta as a target.

And yes, from what I’ve seen, Sev can be a little ambitious. Could be a good thing, or come back to bite him in the ass later on.

“Or”?

;)

But, yeah. As Xana can testify, my tastes run towards “more plots, more characters, more complications”. And I’d be up for some side threads with anyone, once it seems like they make sense to do them.

Well I will pursue this plot point of Alythra meeting with the real Iantho, possibly where she might run into the rest of the crew as they cajole with Ghoutta. At a casino, perhaps (where it seems this first meeting will take place?)

Is it my post? I might be able to get one done tonight.

I’m pretty sure you’re up.

As far as complications go, at some point Alythra should be informing Sev of his 15,000 credit debt to her. And let’s be honest: what would be a better way for him to start working off that debt than serving as her driver and security when she goes to meet her next client?
