“Where do you think I’m getting the fries from?” Rai asked. “Pearl you want anything?”

“Some healthy.” Pearl said sitting next Rai.

“Grilled chicken salad okay?” Rai asked.

“Sounds good.” Pearl answered.

Rai nodded and returned to her phone.

"Awesome!" Steven announced with a smile at getting the fries and such.

"Also, we will need to make you pills or something that would give the raw minerals to make the pearl for the baby," Diego also noted as he was thinking and would need to work with Peridot on this.

Rai winced and groaned.

“You okay?” Pearl asked.

“Yeah, yeah I’m fine.” Rai answered. “One of them just missed my rib cage and kicked my lung.”

"You wanna sit down then?" Diego asked Rai as he looked at his friend. "Rai, what do you think about the devices so our kids could have a Gem?" Steven asked her as he was going over to help Rai.

“Babe, I just got kicked in the lung.” Rai said sitting down and trying to catch her breath.

Pearl rubbed Rai’s back trying to comfort her.

"Hmmm..." Steven asked as he was helping Rai. "Should we go to the doctor or is this normal?" Steven asked Rai as he sat next to her.

"Anything abnormal or unusual?" Diego asked, trying to inquire if there was anything that could become a potential concern.

"Maybe you should get some rest by going to bed or something," Diego suggested as Steven went over to grab Rai's hand in concern over it.

"When are the babies coming?" Amethyst asked out lout.

“I’m fine, really.” Rai said. “It’s just a shock more than anything.” She took a couple deep breaths before answering Amethyst, “they could be born at any moment really. I’m trying to keep them in for as long as possible because if I have them now, there’s no way they’d be able to survive. I make it another three weeks and they at least have a chance, not a very big one but a chance none the less.”

“What’s the likelihood of survival?” Pearl asked.

“For 23 weeks, about 17%. We’d be lucky to bring one home at that point.” Rai explained. “If I can hold out until 25 weeks they’ll at least have a 50% chance, 26 weeks there’s an 80% chance, and 27 weeks there’s a 90% chance.”

“Why are worried?” Amethyst asked. “Steven can just heal them.”

“Steven can’t heal underdeveloped lungs. That’s the biggest problem with preemies is their lungs not being fully developed causing them to be unable to breath.” Rai said. “My OB/GYN has me on metabolic steroids to speed up their lung develop, so even if I do give birth early they’ll be more likely to survive. And she wants me to be put on bed rest soon.”

"That doesn't sound good," Amethyst noted, paling a bit, even if Steven could possibly heal them.

"Rose did mention that sort of stuff, but she said that she was able to control her body to an extent," Amethyst, recalling Rose's pregnancy, though her statement was noted more toward Pearl.

"Maybe I could try communicating with the babies. Granted, I wonder if this does mean that neither would have a Gem," Steven commented, thinking. The Gem would add more time, even if it was just from him.

Rai kissed Steven, before saying, “Steven, it’s not an issue of them wanting to come early. It’s an issue of my body being able to handle having triplets in it. There’s a lot of factors going against me on this. Teenagers are more likely to give birth early, I’m short so there’s less room for them, and I’m having triplets so that’s adding more stress. This is a high risk pregnancy and I have a lot of doctors and specialists helping out.”

"Is there anything I can do to help you?" Steven asked her as he went to her, clasping her hands with concern as he looked at her lovingly. He wanted to help her and their children in any way he can.

Rai smiled kissed Steven. “Right now I’m good but when I’m in bed rest I’m going to need help doing pretty much everything because I won’t be allowed to stand up except to use the bathroom.”

Rai stood up. “While we’re waiting for our food, would you like to see our bedroom?”

"All right then, that makes sense," Steven told her with a smile and nod as he embraced her before he saw her stand-up. "Sure!" he said with a smile, wanting to see their bedroom before he helped her move.

"You sure you don't want me to carry you?" he couldn't help but tease a little.

“I can walk for now Steven.” Rai said with a smile.

She lead him to the other side of the wall separating the house from the temple where there was a set of stairs. On the second floor there were two doors. Rai opened the one to the right which was a master bedroom. The style was simple and relaxing. There was a lot of new furniture but also the night stand from Steven’s original room (along with a second matching one).

“This is our room.” Rai said.

"I know, but I just wanna help you," Steven told her with a smile as he let her lead over to the house. He was seeing all the work and he smiled at seeing their brand new bedroom.

"Oh WOW! This is Amazing!" Steven said, his eyes turning to stars.

“I think you’ll be more impressed with the babies’ room.” Rai said. She walked across the hall and opened the other door.

The room had a dark blue nearly black colored ceiling and the walls were a light gray. The cribs were pushed against a wall each having a different color bedding and different mobile. The first crib had powder pink bedding and a mobile with star. The second crib had pastel purple bedding with a moon mobile. The third had a sky blue bedding and a mobile made of realistic looking planets. Hanging above each crib was a sign with a name on it, in order reading Rose, Molly, and Greg. There was a dresser, changing table, and rocking chair off to the side.

“So?” Rai asked.

Steven followed Rai over to the baby room. It was utterly beautiful to say the least and looked really nice. The various names were there and it looked all rather comforting to say the least.

"It's beautiful," Steven noted with a smile as he went to softly embrace his beloved Rai in delight at the wonderful sight.

Rai flipped the switch turning the lights off and another that illuminated same holes in the ceiling that resembled stars. “And it’s accurate.” Rai said kissing Steven. “I want them to be exposed to all of their cultures, even if there’s only the three.”

"There's alot of it. Man, alot has changed since the end of the Gem War," Steven told her as he saw the illuminated stars in the ceiling. "You're absolutely amazing," he said to her with a grin.

“It was just my idea, your dad is the one that built it.” Rai said. “We are almost ready for the arrive. We still need diapers and that stuff but other than that we’re good.” Rai has already gotten the clothes, bottles, and clearly furniture.

"It's still amazing and you already got a lot of the stuff. You're amazing!" Steven told her with a big smile as he embraced her while he looked around. "I'll get the diapers and other things," he said to her.

“We should probably wait until I’m further along so we can buy diapers that we know will fit.” Rai said. “The doctor said the twins look big for their age and that baby c looks to be average size. I don’t want to get diapers only for them not be the wrong size.”

"Okay, that sounds like it makes sense. So what else should I buy for the babies?" Steven asked Rai as he went to her and looked at the room once more. "What would you like to do now?" he asked her as he was taking everything in and feeling more like an adult and needing to do more for their family.

“We have almost everything, we can probably get the bath wash and shampoo soon.” Rai commented. “Our dinner should be getting here soon, so we should probably go down to eat.”
