Steven saw Mason go and throw the ball near the warp pad. Steven went over near it and picked it up without activating it. "Hey, that actually reminds me of something," Steven noted before he unpacked a baby fence and manage to put it around the warp pad.

"There, now Mason won't be able to accidentally go on it," Steven noted to Rai before rolling the ball back to Mason. "Is there anything that scares him?1' he asked Rai.
 
"Screaming." Rai said. "He does not like screaming. Other than that he's pretty much not afraid of anything. Although he does find people being scared hilarious. One time I was staying at Dennis and Sadie's, Sadie squished a spider and like hundreds of baby spiders started pouring out of it. We were nothing freaking and Mason was laughing his ass off at us."

Mason threw the ball toward the hall with the bathroom.

"Oh and his own farts." Rai said. "He farts and starts crying."
 
"So like loud noises in general, or specifcially screaming?' Steven asked as he was clarifying all of this for later just in case. "Laughing at being scared kinda sounds like Amethyst," Steven couldn't help but chuckle, especially when Rai mentioned that Mason cried whenever he farted. "I wonder if the sounds scare him or the sensations do," he noted before he got the ball and rolled it to Mason again.
 
Rai shrugged before she went picked Mason up. "Are you an amethyst? Hm?" Mason grabbed her nose. "Are you saying 'no, I'm an emerald'?" She saw Steven's confusion. "Mason was born in May and his birthstone is emerald. It's why Sadie's engagement ring had an emerald in it. My dad has a tie clip we got him for his birthday a few years back that has all of our birthstones on it. It's funny because it's so Mitch matched. In order it's a citrine, an aquamarine, and five amethysts coz Dennis was born in November, Alice was born in March, and me and the other quints were born in February."
 
Steven looked a bt confused by what Rai was saying as she picked up Mason. "That's cool," Steven commented as he went over to pet Mason on the head. "I wonder if birthstones were a legend that originated from the Gems," Steven wondered out loud. "What now? Does he wanna keep playing? How is he feeling?" Steven asked as he looked over the baby.
 
"I don't know but I mean some of the months I could see but others not so much." Rai explained. "Some months have several gemstones associated with them like June which is pearl and opal. The month I remember are January is garnet, February is amethyst, March is aquamarine, June is opal but more commonly pearl, July is ruby, August is peridot, September is sapphire, November is Corrine or topaz, and December is tanzanite... I think. I could be mixing September and December up. Do Gems have birthdays?" Rai put Mason back down.

"No, we do not." Pearl said as the three came back in.
 
Steven listened to Rai explain the various birthstones before he saw the Gems come back. "Hey, how was it?" Steven said as he went over to hug them. "It was the same as usual so there was little trouble at all," Garnet explained with a smile. "How's Mason feeling?" Amethyst asked as she went to check up on the baby.

"Wouldn't the day you popped up from the ground be your birthday?" Steven asked Pearl in response.
 
"He was just playing fetch with Steven." Rai said with a chuckle.

"It would be if we knew what day that was." Pearl explained.

"I have an idea. Why don't you guys just go with the month gemstones go with?" Rai asked. "Garnet would be in January, Amethyst in February, and Pearl in June. My only suggestion is that Amethyst doesn't go with February 28th or 29th coz me and my siblings kinda took those days."
 
"Well, for Amethyst, it could be the day that you found her," Steven suggested as he was just seeing how everyone was doing. He was pretty happy since he remember when he tried to pull a birthday party for the Gems.

"So who's birthday would be earliest?" Steven asked as he rested on the sofa.
 
"I like Raiden's idea." Pearl said.

"Okay then y'all need to pick a number." Rai grabbing her phone and opening the calendar app. "And I'll put them in my calendar so we remember."

"Two." Garnet stated.

"Okay, Garnet's birthday is now January 2nd." Rai said as she added that to the calendar.

"Twelve." Pearl said.

"Pearl is June 12th." Rai added it to her calendar.

"Seven." Amethyst said.

"And Amethyst is February 7th." Rai added it to the calendar. "Now we have specific days to celebrate your existence!"
 
Steven also began opened the calender on his smartphone to record everything that was being stated in regards to the birthdays of the the Gems. "Well, we do that everyday, but those are days because we show how important you are and how happy we are you're with us," Steven said with his usual Steven optimism.
 
"True but we often fall into a routine and take those we love for granted. Birthdays are a good reminder of how much care for someone." Rai explained. "Also you get presents and have cake which is always awesome!" She all of a sudden had an idea and grabbed her sketchbook out of her backpack. "I can give you guys an early birthday gift." She opened the book and tore three pages out. "I've been doing a lot of drawing lately and I drew you three." She handed the first sheet to Pearl. "I did take some creative liberties."

It was very anime like and showed Pearl facing forward, and walking while carrying two katanas. Her arms were crossed with the blade over her shoulders. She was dressed in a school uniform which had colors similar to her outfit in real life. There was a full moon behind her giving the whole thing a very mysterious, badass vibe but was made a bit softer by a cherry tree drawn to the side and the flower petals strewn throughout.

"This is really good." Pearl commented looking at the paper. "I had no idea you could draw like this."
 
Steven smiled softly at the words Rai was speaking. It's why he aways did his ebst to show everyone he cared about how much they meants to him. "Oh wow! That's amazing!" Steven said in awe as he saw Rai's drawings. He always lvoed to see ehr draw, but it was clear that she was improving mroe and more over time.

"Wow, that's cool!" Amethyst commented.
 
"I did one for you." Rai said handing the second paper to Amethyst.

The drawing showing Amethyst had her wearing a short kimono with off the shoulder sleeves and torn fishnets under it. She was also wearing dark military styled boots going to her knees. She had a whip in both of her hands and was in a fighting stance with one whip in front of her body and the other behind. She had her body bent in a way that made it appear as if she had just cracked the whips. The background appeared to be an urban setting with a concrete backdrop filled with graffiti. Her hair was pretty much the same as real life but definitely with more volume, it still covered one eye and she had a smirk on her face.
 
"Oh wow... that's like... really cool," Amethyst said in awe at the amazing artwork that Rai made. She went over to hug her with a smile. "Thanks a bunch! It's awesome!: Amethyst told Rai before showing it to Steven.

"You have one for Garnet too?" Steven askd in curiosity though he figured she did.
 
"Yes and to be 100%, it was a pain in the ass." Rai said. "Like I would make a drawing and not like it at all for some reason or another and have to start over again. But I finally made one I thought was good." She handed the last piece of paper to Garnet

At the top of Garnet's, was a drawing of Ruby and Sapphire who were standing next to one another while holding hands.

Ruby was wearing a pair of knee length dark red pants with a light red long sleeved shirt and a brown vest with gold trim. She also had on black tights and brown ankle high boots. It looked somewhat steampunk.

Sapphire had her hair braided and pulled over her shoulder while wearing an elegant looking floor length blue dress that was decorated with beads and ruffles. She also had long gloves on that had more beadwork at the ends. In her hair was an arrangement of decorative flowers ranging from dark blue to white and she had a silver necklace around her neck.

At the bottom was Garnet who was drawn wearing skin tight pants, a large belt, and a decorative looking corset. Over the corset was a jacket that went down half way and had poofy shoulders. She was also wearing large fighting gloves that sported spikes on the knuckles. Finally she had a headband tied around her forehead with the ends fluttering in the wind. Behind was a cut scene; the left was a large snowflake pattern and the right was a large fireball.

"I wanted to do make it have Ruby and Sapphire which is why it was so difficult to do." Rai explained.
 
"I didnt know you were a perfectionist when it came to that," Steven commented before seeing the drawing that Rai drew of Garnet, which incudes Ruby and Sapphire. "Oh wow, thats amazing!" Steven said as he looked over it with a smile.

"I like it alot. Thank you very much," Garnet said Rai with a big smile on her face. "Thank you for the gifts," she added to all of them.
 
"I am when it comes to my drawings." Rai said putting sketch pad back in her backpack. "That and was incredibly difficult to draw Ruby and Sapphire because I've only seen the few times, everyone else I see on a daily basis so I had to draw them from memory." She smiled, "I'm glad you guys like them!"
 
A Few Weeks Later...

"Good morning everyone! How are you doing?" Diego said as he arrived at the Gem base. He has been frequenting the home and base of the Crystal Gems since he has been with Pearl more often and for longer periods of time. He would usually help out or just spend time with them. Amethyst was like the cool sister he never had and philosophy and advice with Garnet was always fun. Here though, he arrived for a specific reason: He brought the book that Alcie gave him back and he hoped they could help.

"Good morning," Steven opened the door with a smile before hugging Diego and he hugged Steven back with a smile.
 
"Good morning." Pearl said as she went up and kissed Deigo.

"I'd tell you two to get a room but i don't think you need me to tell you to do that, y'all got that covered." Amethyst teased.

"Amethyst, please, that is inappropriate." Pearl scolded.
 
Diego happily went and kissed Pearl back with a smile before just chuclking at Amethyst's teasing. "What do you have there?" Garnet asked as she came in. "It's a book that Rai's sister, Alice, got. Apparently, it's written in ancient Greek and may be connected to the Gems," Diego said as he gave it to Pearl to look through.

"Speaking of Rai, where is she? I thought you two had breakfast together," Diego asked Steven. "She said that she had to help out Sadie with something, but she should be here soon," Steven explained.
 
"I thought she was helping Alice." Pearl said.

"She is." Amethyst added. "Vidalia told me that her and Sour Cream are getting an apartment together."

"They haven't even been dating a month yet." Pearl was clearly concerned.

"Yeah, but apparently they're like head over heels for each other." Amethyst explained. "Rai's helping them move."
 
"Wow, I heard the double date went good, but I didn't think it would go that well," Diego commented in regards to the rather surprsing news. "Yeah, I mean, when they started talking, they looked like they were having so much fun and then they started to see each other everyday," Steven explained with a big smile.

"It would explain why Alice looked so hapy and lvoestruck during work. Never seen her skip before," Diego remarked as he looked back the last couple of weeks.

"And Sour Cream isn't Lars," Steven mentioned. "Yeah, if she did get preggers, Sour Cream would defiitely take care of the baby," Amethyst added.
 
"I still only have the one nephew and no nieces." Rai said as she walked in. "I brought breakfast." She held up a couple of bags. "I got pancakes, waffles, an omelette, a couple breakfast sandwiches, and I brought stuff to make frappucinos."

"You didn't have to bring all that." Pearl said.

"Shut up, Pearl, food is food!" Amethyst smiled. "Imma eat e'erthing."
 
"Good morning Rai," Diego told her with a smile before Steven went to help Rai carry the stuff and put it on the table, all while he planted a kiss on her cheek. "And food is indeed good," Diego said with a smile as he went to help Steven and Rai.

"How have the two been doing?" Steven asked Rai in regards to Sour Cream and Alice as he was dividng some of the breakfast foods for everything with Diego getting himself a nice stack of pancakes.

"What do you think of the book?" Diego asked them. Garnet looked at it. "It does seem to be old and in surprisingly good condition," she commented.
