"Mornin'." Rai smiled as she pulled the bags on the counter and got everyone a plate and silverware. "They're doing good. I haven't seen Alice this happy in awhile. I did tease them though. Since Alice and I are the only ones that are blonde, chances are we're the only ones who are gonna have blonde kids. But since she's with someone who blonde and Steven has dark hair, I'm probably not going to have any blonde kids. Then again I don't know how Gem genetics work."

"What do you mean?" Amethyst asked.

"Well the way human genetics work is darker traits are dominant over lighter ones. My mom was blonde and my dad is brunette but one of his grandmothers was blonde, so he carries the recessive gene for blonde hair, which is why Alice and I have blonde hair. There was like a 25% chance that any child my parents had would be blonde and a 50% chance of them carrying the blonde gene. So there's a chance Sadie might pop out a blonde baby but since Alice and Sour Cream are both blonde, their kids would be blonde. If Gem genetics worked like human genetics, Steven would look exactly like Greg because his genes would be dominant. However Steven does have some of Rose's traits, and has darker hair than Greg, so maybe because humans don't pink hair Steven just got black hair?" Rai started making coffee. "My high school biology class doesn't exactly cover this kind of thing."
 
"Yeah, that's the gist rhough we don't know how Gems work much if at all," Diego confessed as he was pouring maple syurp on his stack of pancakes before sitting down. Though something about the book made him... not uneasy but something about it made it feel the book was more improtant than it seemed.

"Wow, this book seems old, I wonder what it's about," Steven said as he looked through the book. It was written in what he saw was ancient Greek and there were some pictures, a few of Gem figures with human figures and one of what looked like a city in the middle of water, but he didn't pay too much mind to it.

"You wanna read it, Pearl?" he said to her.
 
"Yeah but whatever our kids look like they'll be adorable." Rai said kissing Steven, and grabbing her pancakes which had chocolate chips and blueberries.

"I can try." Pearl took the book and began reading it.

"So Sadie took a pregnancy test and she didn't get pregnant on their honeymoon." Rai put syrup on her pancakes after cutting them. "I asked if she wanted more kids, and she hasn't decided."
 
Diego smiled at the interaction between Steven and Rai. Steven got himself some waffles before he kissed Rai back. "Yeah, and they'll be amazing," Steven responded to her with a smile on his face.

"Well, at the least this gives them more time to look for better financial opportunities," Diego suggested as he began eating his stack of pancakes. "Man it's surprisining how fast you humans grow and change, it's something special," Amethyst noted with a smile.
 
"I know, I can hardly believe Mason is going to be two in May. It feels like just yesterday that I was holding him in the hospital when he was just a few minutes old. Soon he's gonna be talking in complete sentences and then he's gonna be going to school." Rai said between bites of her pancakes. "I tease Sadie because it won't be long until Mason is bigger than her. He is almost her size."
 
"How much does time fly," Diego noted with a smile as he felt just how much the passage of time went by. "It seemed like only yesterday I moved to Beach City and I met you all and became friends," Diego exclaied wistfully before giving a longing look to Pearl. "Yeah, we're happy that you moved here," Steven said with a smile as he passed a plate of breakfast to Amethyst.

"Time definitely seems to fly by, which is why we enjoy every moment we have," Garnet said with a smile as she looked at them all.
 
Pearl looked at the book with her brow furrowed.

"Pearl, what's up?" Rai asked looking over at the couch.

"This book makes no sense." Pearl said. "It talks about some sort of machine and then it gives recipes for food."
 
"Or is that what that was? It did seem weird. Not to mention pictures of what looked like a city or something or something. I wonder what it's saying," Steven noted before Diego bti his lip and then it clicked. "Wait a minute... does it mention some sort of lost civilization or smething," Diego said as he was eating his pancakes. His heart began beating faster and his mind was racing.

There was one possiiblity, but it was so out there... was it?
 
"Not that I can see." Pearl stated, closing the book and sighing. "There are a few words I don't understand so I'm going to have to do some research but it shouldn't be a problem."

"If you need help, my dad studied Ancient Greek in college." Rai said. "He may be able to help."

"If I can't figure it out, maybe." Pearl put the book on the coffee table.
 
Diego was in deep thought and he would probably go to the library later to look at it. "And I'll probably do some research on it later," Diego said as he was filled with burning curiosity about the whole thing. He wondered what could be the potential secrets.

"That would be cool to help," Steven commented. "Besides the thing with Alice, how have you been doing?" he asked Rai as he snuggled up to her. "I mean, Diego looks like he'll be going to the library so what do you wanna do today?" he asked her.
 
"I can help if you'd like." Pearl suggested.

"I don't think the library would let you two bang in there, it's not like the bookstore." Amethyst teased.

"How did you know about that?" Pearl asked while blushing.

"Oh my God! You guys actually did it there? I was just joking." Amethyst managed to say before laughing.

"I was thinking we could just stay here." Rai said wrapping her arms around Steven. "Maybe makeout a little, watch a movie."
 
Diego blushed at what Amethyst said before he went even brighter when Pearl inadvertably told Amethyst what happened. His face was a deep shade of red. Diego just ate his pancakes in response to the awkward silence.

"We will looke through the book a bit more, especially through some of the pictrues to try and find any potential identifiable locations related to Gem sites," Garnet added to the group as she began skimming through the book.
 
"Steven and I could bring it to Alice and Sour Cream's apartment." Rai suggested. "Alice's printer is also a copier and scanner, so we can make colored copies of the pages and everyone can have a version of the book without damaging the book."

"That's a wonderful idea, Raiden." Pearl grabbed the book and handed it to Rai. "How long will it take?"

"Well I'll make a copy for you, me, Steven, Diego, and Garnet, so less than half an hour." Rai said as she counted on her fingers.

"Why don't I get a copy?" Amethyst crossed her arms and looked angry.

"Because you probably don't care enough to figure out what it says." responded Rai.

"Yeah you're right, I don't." Amethyst shrugged.
 
"Yeha, but it's alot of pages to do so and it would cost alot in paper and in ink," Diego commented in mild concern. He didn't want to cause a burden in regards to thoe sort of expenses.

"He's got a point, who would end up affording it?" Steven added as well as he also wodnered. He liked Rai's idea, but he wasn't sure on the practicality of it. "Wouldn't it be easier to do it at the library since they have a bigger machine for that and it could print more," Steven wondered out loud.
 
"Yeah but you have to pay for it at the library, it's like fifty cents per copy. I'll just buy Alice more paper and ink cartridges, they're not that expensive." Rai explained. "It'd still be cheaper than the library. If the Gems had cellphones I could scan the book, make a 3D model, and send it to the phones, but they don't."

"You don't know if we have phones." Amethyst protested.

"Do you have cellphones?" Rai asked as she put the book in her backpack.

"Peridot has a tablet." Amethyst said.

"I'll take that as a 'no' and Steven told me that that tablet used to be Greg's." Rai put her backpack on. "I figured you guys would be all about cellphones; make it easier to keep track of each other and Steven, have the power of the internet at your fingertips, and nearly endless apps."
 
"Do you have enough money to do so in the first place," Diego asked Rai before Steven turned to the ems in regards to what they were saying.

"Well, part of it as Dad initually didn't have enough to buy it and the Gems didn't really have any interest. In fact, he joked he was worried that Amethyst might accidentally eat it if she was bored," Steven said in the joking tone before Amethyst chuckled in response.

"Well, if you're okay with it," Diego said to Rai. "I imagine we'll be able to do alot though. When will you go?" he asked her.
 
"Yes, I do and I'll leave now." Mynx stated as she took Steven's hand. "I doubt she'd eat it; she'd definitely lose it or break it though."

"You may want to call your sister before so she's expecting you." Pearl suggested.

Rai pulled her phone from her pocket and texted Alice before putting it back in her pocket. "Done."
 
"You want me to come with you?" Steven asked Rai as he grabbed her hand in return. He already picked up and put away most of the breakfast stuff that haven't been eaten yet for a later time. Diego meanwhile was enjoying his breakfast.

"WOuld you like to come to the library, Pearl? Or do you have Gem duties?" Diego asked her.
 
"Of coarse." Rai smiled and kissed Steven. "You can see Alice and Sour Cream's apartment. You're never gonna guess where it is."

"I think we should wait for Raiden and Steven to get back." Pearl said before thinking. "We could walk on the beach until they're done."
 
"We're is it?" Steven asked Rai with a smile as he finished putting away stuff before kissing Rai back. He grabbed her hand. "Bye guys, see you later," Steven told the Gems with a smile as he was heading out. "Is it in the new apartment complexes or someone where?" Steven asked her.

"Sure, that sounds like a fun date," Diego told her with a smile as he finished his breakfast and washed his dishes before offering his arm to Pearl. "Shall we go, milady?" he said with a smile.
 
"We'll be back." Rai said as she waved at the Gems before leaving. "Nope, but it is in Beach City." She clearly was trying to get him to guess.

"Of coarse." Pearl said blushing and taking Diego's arm.

"Is it just me or is it really weird to think that Pearl has a human boyfriend?" Amethyst asked Garnet once they were the only ones left in the house.
 
"Uhh... is it the Lighthoue?" Steven guessed as he was thinking while they were walking. He wasn't sure where it could be though there were a few parts of Beach City he didn't think much about and he doubted they would live back at the house just yet.

"How are you feeling?" Diego asked Pearl as the began the walk down the beach.

"It certainly is unexpected, but it is a positive development to see Pearl be happy and having moved from Rose," Garnet said to Amethyst.
 
"Nope you're getting colder." Rai said leading him to the boardwalk. "You have one last chance to guess."

"Good. A little freaked out by that book, but otherwise good." Pearl said smiling.

"Remember how much she hated Greg? And how competitive she got with him?" Amethyst said with a chuckle.
 
"Uhh... liviing on a boat?" Steven guessed for one last chance. He wasn't sure where else it could be. "I guess we will be arriving there soon?" Steven asked Rai while he was holding her hand with a smile. "I love being with you," he told her with a smile.

"Why did the book freak you out?" Diego asked her, looking a bit concerned for his beloved.

"She did not hate Greg, but she was competetive with him. Though imagine if she was there instead of Rose. Would she have fallen for Greg and Greg for her?" Garnet couldn't help but wonder about that.
 
Rai lead Steven to the side of the dinner where the was a locked door. She pulled a key from her bag and opened the door revealing a small hallway leading to a staircase and another door at the top of the stairs. "There's an apartment above the dinner and that's where they're living."

"The idea that that there maybe something about Gems that I don't know." Pearl replied.

"I'm trying to picture what Steven would look like." Amethyst joked.
