Change The World

"Yeah, come on." he said as he leaned down and grabbed her, lifting her once again into a bridal position. "I'll just carry you, I don't really feel like getting into another fight just cause something else senses the jewel shards." he said as he rushed off back towards the village.

Her arms wrapped around his neck when he picked her up. Nodding her head, she watched as the trees passed by them in green and brow blurs. The cool air hit her face and blew through her hair. Once again she almost felt like she was flying. She could never get enough of the feeling. Letting out a quiet yawn, she blinked her tired eyes and waited in his arms until they got back to the village.

By the time they arrived, the moon hung well above the village and the interior of the huts were lit up with the crackling of fire and the disucssions between the people in the hut. Inuyasha didn't bother listening in, he didn't really care. He set her down on the ground and leaned against the hut of the wall. "I'm just going to try and get some sleep." he said to her. "You're...um, welcome to come sleep with me when you're ready to turn in."

Before she took a step through the door way, she smiled at him and nodded. "Okay." Normally she'd pull out her sleeping back and she and Shippo would fall asleep together. The offer caught her s bit off guard since last night was the first night they slept close enough to touch one another. Once she stepped through the door way, Shippo aimed himself straight for her arms.

"You're okay." Sango looked up at her. "We were so worried.."

"You left your bow and arrow here, we thought you would be attacked." Miroku said with a worried nod of his head. "I trust nothing out of the ordinary..." He looked down and saw that there was a distinct redness on her shirt, quite possibly caused by blood. He grimaced. "Oh, I see.' he said, nodding his head slowly. "Well I trust Inuyasha took care of the problem before it had a chance to escalate, then."

Kagome laughed nervously and moved to sit down at her original spot beside Sango with Shippo still in her arms. "It was a snake demon. I guess he sensed the jewel." With a small shrug, she let her eyes travel down and settled on the small fire. So they found out about the mating thing. Well atleast it was in the open now. "What do you guys know about demon mating? And if there's different rules if they mate humans."

Sango looked at her then to Miroku, waiting to see if he would speak first. "I'm not really sure about demon's mating humans have different rules or not..."

"It's not exactly as common as you would think." Miroku said with a sigh. "Demons and humans rarely, if ever, mate. Jinenji and Inuyasha are thus far one of the only examples I've seen of humans and demons mating and producing off spring. As a result, I'm not entirely certain if there are any differenes, but if they have similarities, then I know that demons mate for life once mated and marked."

Sango nodded. "Yeah. I'm not too educated on the human-demon factor. There might be something, but we'd have to ask someone like Myoga or Totosai. Inuyasha's father chose his mother. And she was a human. But it didn't seem like their life cycles were connected." Kagome nodded saying that she understood. "But I'm happy for you both." The female slayer said, pattin her close friend on the shoulder.

"Indeed, it's quite the joyous day when Inuyasha learns how to act like a human and not the cold hearted demon he wishes for us to believe he is. I hope that your new connection will actually get him to loosen up a bit more." A laugh as Inuyasha shouted out that he heard that. "How are you taking the news, may I ask Lady Kagome? You seemed distressed upon discovering it."

One of her shoulders moved up into a slight shrug. "It was slightly upsetting to learn that it was such a big deal without knowing it was." She glanced up at Miroku. "Its just something I have to think about. I love Inuyasha. But somewhere along the line, if I accept, because I'm human I will eventually die. And he'll be left alone. I couldn't bring myself to let him live like that without anyone.."

"Youi're one of the most compassionate women I think I've ever met, Kagome." he said with a small smile crossing his face. "Not even worried about your own well being, but not wanting to let your mate go on alone. That is truly remakrable." he nodded. "However, you are a strong young woman, and have many years ahead of you. Death should be one of the last things on your mind."

She smiled at he compliment. She was always a selfless person. Always caring for everything and everyone around her. But Miroku was right. Sango looked at her. "You shouldn't let that keep you from being happy with someone you love, Kagome. Maybe one day down the road you two will find a way to form your lives together in a new way." Kagome nodded and looked back into the fire. They really were right. There wasn't any use worrying about the far off future when she should be happy now. Feeling Shippo twitch in her arms, she looked down and noticed he was sleeping. Smiling, she turned and set him in her sleeping bag before getting up. "Thanks for the help guys." Now there was the fear of never being able to come back after the final battle with Naraku. Hopefully she wouldn't be sealed on the other side forever, not being able to see Inuyasha again. Pulling the mat away from the door frame, she stepped outside into the cool air and looked at her hanyou clad in red.

He hadn't gone far. In fact he hadn't even moved. He was still leaning against the wall of the hut, his arms crossed over his chest. The only difference being he was now sitting, his eyes were closed before they snapped open and looked up at her. He'd heard everything. "Feel any better?" he asked her before he stood up.

"Mmhmm." She hummed softly with a small nod. She knew he pretty much heard everything. Though she didn't mind. She sort of wanted him to hear so she knew her feelings. She wanted to be with him. She just wanted to make sure that they were able to stay together. Digging her hands into the back pockets of her jeans, she looked around before landing her eyes back on him.

"Good." he said with a nod. "Long as you're feeling better about the whole thing." He was a bit worried about how she would react to this whole thing, but thankfully Miroku and Sango seemed to clear her worries. He was thankful for them, thankful they'd managed to calm her down. "Do you want to talk about it then?" he asked, nudging his head in the direction of the tree he generally slept in. A nice little place, isolated for just him and her to talk or just lay there in each others company.

Her head moved in the direction he was nudging to. It was his tree. She never really went up there mostly because she figured it was his own personal spot and she didn't want to get into his personal bubble. Even she needed space sometimes. With a slight smile, she turned her head in his direction and nodded.

He nodded and grabbed her once again, this time not too subtly. With one leap into the air he landed in the lowest hanging branch that was capable of holding the two of them. He fell into a sitting position and leaned back against the tree. "Not the comfiest thing in the world, but it does me just fine." he mumbled.

She settled down in front if him. Her back against his chest. "It's alright. You like it up here. You're not bothered by anyone and it's easy for you to see further away by being higher up." she tucked some hair behind her ears and looked around. "I like it." She said honestly. "I just don't think I could be able to sleep in a tree every night like you can."

"You get used to it." he said as he wrapped an arm lazily around her waist. "When you've grown up sleeping in trees and the cold hard ground, the trees start looking better in comparison." he said, chuckling softly after. Looking down at her and noting she didn't have a blanket, he pulled his kimono off and wrapped it around her. He didn't need it after all.

She settled against him and his warmth. When he moved his kimono over her shoulders, she slipped her arms through it and rested her head against his chest. She murmured a soft thank you. Her eyes moved through the trees until she settled on looking at the stars. She loved looking at them. When everyone was sleeping and she was in her sleeping bag with Shippo, she would gaze up atthe stars and watch them until she was tired enough to fall asleep.

He just laid there, his arms wrapped around her waist, looking down at her affectionately as she leaned back against him. "So." he said to her softly, his eyes following hers and looking up to the sky as well. "What are you thinking about?" He asked his new mate, his voice barely above a whisper.

She turned her head a bit. "How beautiful the stars are here. I can't see them in Tokyo because of all the lights." She said just as softly. "I'm thinking of you. And how dramatically my life has changed since I met you." Being careful not to fall, she turned slowly on the branch so that she was facing him. Glad she wasn't wearing a skirt, she let her legs dangle in the air. "And how I can't imagine my life without you in it..."

"Heh, feeling all cheesy, hm?" he asked her teasing, a small smirk on his face. The smugness didn't last, as he suddenly adjusted a little bit and pressed his forehead against hers, his golden eyes staring into her brown ones, finding them one of the most beautiful things about her right now. "I can't imagine my life without you either, Kagome..." he whispered softly.

She looked into his eyes, getting lost in his golden depths. Her smile was soft and she didn't take his teasing into heart. She felt her heart pounding in her chest and she could feel it in her ears. The tip of her nose rubbed against his very slightly. She was glad he felt the same way. They had been through so much and learned so much from one another. Even Miroku and Sango both. Thoth they would deny it. "The only thing that's keeping me from accepting your magic offer is the fact that I might not be able to stay. The jewel mightthink it's best for me to be sealed on my side..."

"I was...actually thinking about something like that...' he mumbled. "Not sure if this would be able to work, but...what if...well, when we got the jewel...used my wish of...not becoming a full demon and instead...if we could...to keep the well from shutting, perhaps? That way you'd still come here and be with your family...' He mumbled. The idea of him giving up his life long dream of being a full blooded demon wasn't an easy one. But when he thought of the monster he became, and how one day he may hurt Kagome...well, he didn't want that. Not at all. Besides, if he could use his wish to make her happy and himself, well, skies the limit and all that.
