Change The World

Kagome didn't speak as she walked through the store, collecting what she needed on her list. Going up to the cash register, she made eye contact with the boy behind the counter and he gave her a smile. She gave him a small smile as he rang her groceries. Once that was done, she paid him and took her bags.

She sighed, she didn't want to think about what to do any longer. She wanted to talk to her mother before anything. Her mother always had the best advice. Even if she did let her daughter find out things on her own, she was always there. Especially when she realized she loved Inuyasha. Walking through the door, she stood beside him as he sat beside the enterance.

"Okay. Just two more places to go."

He pushed himself off the wall with a small grunt. "Come on then." he said as he nudged his head in the direction of...well, wheever the hell she was going to be dragging him. This shopping wasn't as bad as he had thought it would be. Funny how that worked. Before they got too far, his eyes trailed down to her, frowning as she seemed very...conflicted, to say the least.

The little vague messages of "Mate sad, make mate happy" played in his head again. He wondered if there was a way to shut those off. Either way, he felt at the least he could do something to cheer her up, but what? Shrugging a little to himself, his hand reached down and grabbed her hand.

He said nothing but give her a little squeeze, as if trying to say everything would be okay.

Kagome jumped a bit, not knowing that he would do something like that in public. Looking up at him from under her bangs, she smiled a soft smile and formed her hand around his. It was nice. Him showing some kind of affection when there were people around. Then again he didn't really care much about others around him. Only the people he knew. She calmed down a degree when he did that though. Like a calm after an ocean storm. Through simple actions, he always seemed to help her or make her feel better or calm her down. It was weird.

Even if he was the one who started it, she knew that with him, she'd never have to be alone. No matter what was bothering her. He may not fully understand what she always went through, but he was there to listen or to always express his opinions. Moving close to him, she walked in the direction that he pointed. Oddly enough it was the right direction that she wanted to go.

They said nothing on their way to the next area, wherever the hell these medical and bath supplies were, walking into something called a pharmacy and entering it. The scent wasn't as powerful as the one at the other place, but it was evident. It smelled so clean it almost didn't seem real. He did walk in with her this time, if only wanting to see the strange herbs and how they were made.

"Does everything in this era come in boxes and plastic?" He asked innocently as he trailed through the aisles with her.

She looked around, she really didn't notice before because she was used to it. But he was right. "Yeah." She chuckled and picked up a box of bandaids and ointment. "Normally they do because its just easier to store that way." Shrugging, she walked down the aisles with him, still holding his hand. She was used to it now that she didn't even notice. Picking up a bottle of peroxide and alcohol, she had to let go of his hand to put them into her basket. "I guess our era today is more into space and being conservative and recycling. So they use a lot of recyclable packaging." She looked into his amber eyes and continued on.

It was nice, shopping with him. She really wasn't used to it. Normally if she wanted to go shopping in the village, Sango and Shippo normally went with her. He didn't seem like the shopping type, so she never asked.

It was the little things, he supposed. While he would have been taking this time hunting down Naraku, fighting demons and finding the other jewel shards, this was nice as well. "I'm not sure what recycle means." He stated blatantly, looking around for another moment before he also carried on as well. It was fascinating that there was so much stuff here that could help so many people. The luckiest he got was the herbs Lady Kaede and Miroku crushed and used as such.

Kagome thought about the easiest way to tell him. Walking with him, she looked at the items on the shelves and put whatever she needed in the basket. "Recycling is when people are done using boxes or plastic bottles, they put them in recycling containers for specific materials. Like a trash can but for bottles. And then they're taken to a factory, cleaned or melted down and reused." Passing the pet aisle, she stopped and a grin spread across her face.

He mainly didn't press the subject of recycling because it seemed to raise more questions than he bothered or even cared to ask her. As they walked past another aisle, he looked down at her. That grin was never a good grin. Never. It meant she was planning something. he didn't know if that was something he should be worried about.

"Kagome...?" He asked slowly, caution lacing his voice.

She looked at him and strolled down the aisle. She knew she had his attention. So she might as well hold it for as long as she can. "Hey Inuyasha...?" She stopped and picked up a bag of Beggin' Strips. "You were a good boy last night..." Kagome held the bag up infront of her. "Do you want a treat?" The grin on her face was apparent. She normally didn't tease him too much about the dog thing. Other than throwing the stick for him.

He was pretty sure he was being insulted. "I'm pretty sure I'm being insulted right now." See? He reached out and snagged the bag out of her hands, staring at them for a moment at all angles, sniffing at it and...well he didn't hate the smell that was for sure. "What the hell are these things?" he asked. After another pause, he felt embarrassed for some reason saying this, but "They smell good." he said.

She giggled when he snagged the bag out of her hand. It doesn't matter if he opened the bag. She opened the bag for him. If anything, she'd use them to get Koga to go away. She didn't have to worry about Sesshomaru. He didn't like hanging around at all. Pulling one of the strips out of the bag, she held it in the air infront of his face and waved I for him to smell. The smell of bacon hit her, but she didn't make a face. It wasn't a terrible smell either.

It smelled good, just like he thought it would. He snatched the very strangely textured object from her hand and inspected it before he threw it in his mouth, chewing it slowly. Tasting, testing, swallowing. "Mm!" he said in surprise. "That's pretty good!" It was a shame he didn't understand the irony of the situation. Quite hilarious really. he snatched the bag from her hand and threw another one into his mouth.

She watched as he snatched the strip out of her hand and bite her bottom lip to keep from laughing hysterically. Grabbing another bag, she put it in the basket and continued on. Maybe a little ball or treats for Kirara. Grabbing them both, she added those to the rest of the stuff and walked out of the aisle, knowing he wasn't going to be far behind her. Next the soap and shampoo aisle.

These were a good treat, he thought to himself as he followed behind her, looking at the new areas around him as he followed behind her. He was a little confused as to why the bag had a dog on the front of it, but he wasn't thinking much more about it. Once they reached the aisle, his eyes widened and he hacked and coughed.

"Holy fuck!" he gagged, stepping away. "There's so much..." He hacked. Indeed it was. Sure it smelled nice, but it was almost like a punch in the face.

She heard him hacking behind her. Thinking he was choking, she was at his side patting his back. When he mentioned something about the shampoo smell, she fought back the urge to roll her eyes. Walking through the aisle by herself, she looked at the different brands and scents of shampoos and such. Finding her favorite, Vanilla and Jasmine, she put that in the basket with conditioner alof with Sango's favorite; strawberry. With a bottle of liquid body wash, she was out of the aisle. "Do you want some soap, Inuyasha?" She asked hding the slightly heavy basket infront of her. She wasn't going to move to the next aisle just yet.

"Feh." he said, his sleeve in front of his nose to block the smell from assaulting him anymore. "I don't need to smell all pretty or shit." he said, waving the option away as she asked him. "Just keep going."

With a small sigh, she continued to the next aisle. She didn't need cleaning supplies or any decorations. No make-up or perfume. She did grab some bottles of water that the end of the aisle offered. Picking out a few things, she was done shopping. Grabbing the dog treat bag from Inuyasha, she sealed it and set it on the counter. She didn't want the lady behind the counter go it them weird looks. Because Inuyasha wouldn't be too amused with it. Setting everything else on the counter top, she stood there with a smile as the woman bagged and priced everything. She only had one more stop to go and then they could go home.

"Argh, where else do we have to go?" he finally complained. All thing's considered, he'd been quiet and very understanding about the whole thing. Very not INuyasha. "I thought all we needed was food, medicine and that weird smelling stuff, what else could we possibly need?" He asked, crossing his arms in front of his chest like a child in the midst of a temper tantrum.

She glared at him. Her brown eyes squinting to little slits while they stood at the register. "Fine then, we won't go." It was simple as that. When she paid for the rest of her things and took the bags, she stomped out of the store not caring if people were looking or not.

He noticed he was getting quite a few looks from the onlookers. Glaring at them in return, he sighed and rushed up to Kagome. "Kagome, wait.' he said, grabbing her shoulder. "Where else do we need to go?"

She hulted to a stop when he grabbed her. It wasn't important nor was it life or death to go. Turning her gaze to him she offered him a smile. "Just forget it, Inuyasha. I have everything on the list. Let's go home." Pulling her out of his grip, she pushed the glass door open and walked outside onto the slightly busy sidewalk. School had just let out anyway.

That smile, whenever Kagome was mad and she smiled like that, he knew she was going to murder him when they were alone. So he gulped again and rushed in front of her. "Look, Kagome, whatever you want to do, let's do it, I'm sure it's not as bad as I'm thinking." he said. "Come on>"

She shook her head while her lips were a tight lipped smile. The man could stand infront of hundreds of demons, Naraku and Sesshomaru and not even flinch. But the moment she smiled when she was slightly angry, he seemed to shake in his kimono. Reaching down, she grabbed his hand into hers before he could go anywhere. "I'll go when I come back. We don't have to go." Her soft fingers laced through his. "Let's just go home and pack." Her voice was soft. Knowing that he was only trying to make her happy, it was enough to relieve upset mood.

There was still that evident worry that lingered in his eyes when she grabbed his hand and affirmed they didn't need to go. She didn't sound as mad, but he knew Kagome far better than she gave him credit for, she was likely to hold this over his head for a while. She wasn't the type to do that but when she was mad...he sighed alittle bit and nodded, squeezing her hand in return. "Okay." he said. "Come on then."

She walked silently down the sidewalk with him. The soft pad of her thumb rubbing along his hand. She held the bags of groceries in her other hand. It didn't take too long to get back. Home. They were a few blocks away. The great thing was that the city was built around the shrine. So everything was pretty much in walking distance. "Thank you," she looked up into his beautiful eyes and couldn't help but smile. "For going with me today."
