Change The World

He rolled his eyes as she scolded him, not wanting to, well, cause a havoc. In retrospect, the hat wasn't that bad. Rather, he quickly reached his hand under her bed and pulled out the red hat, having known it was there the whole time. He pushed it on top of his head, his ears now hidden by the strange object. Well, at the least it was black and red. At least it LOOKED somewhat cool, not...pink. "Better?" he asked, crossing his arms, annoyed.

She shrugged, but she was happy. "I like your ears. But they more than likely won't. And I know you don't want to deal with people touching and pulling them." Leaning down, she kissed his cheek and stood back up. "Ready to go? The sooner we get this over with, the sooner we can get back. I don't want to be out too long." Mainly it was because she didn't want to be caught by a few certain people. So she was in a bit of a hurry.

Well, the kiss mad it a little bit better he guessed. He stood up and nodded his head, "Lead the way." he said. The two were now otuside, his eyes scanning...well, everything. The future fascinated, confused, and made him a little worried, but mostly fascinated. Every scent, every sight, the strange attire everyone had, the large metal machines that ran of some foul smelling fluid, the way some of them talked...

"I don't think i'll ever get used to this place." He idly said to her as they made their way down the street.

He probably never would. She understood that. Being in his position, she'd feel the same way too. Even scared. Crossing the street with him, she held the list in her hand. The streets weren't too busy. Since school was still in session and people were at work, it was basically house wives, small children and retired people. Or people playing hooky. Catching all the people who took long looks or small glances at her hanyou companion, she ignored them like she normally did when they went out.

"Is there anything you wanted to do or see while we're out today?" Maybe something in the stores might catch his eye. You'd never know with him.

"Not that I can think of." He mumbled as he continued to watch the strange world around him pass by undautered. He heard a few kids off to the side, likely not possibly knowing he could hear them, asking why he was dressed like that, or why his hair was this color.

"Kagome..." he said, "When this whole Shard thing is over, what do you think you'll do?" He asked, seemingly out of the blue. "Stay here, or stay with us?"

Kagome looked down at her feet as she walked. She honestly didn't know what she was going to do. She wanted to be in both places at once. But she knew well enough that it wasn't going to happen that way. Nothing was easy. Her heart was torn between two places. One with her family and the other with Inuyasha and the ones she called family. She loved Inuyasha, but at the same time, she'd miss her family dearly.

"I really wish I could stay in both places at once. But right now, lets think of it when the time comes." She looked over at him, her smile was a bit sad but she was trying to make the best of it. "Is that what's bothering you?"

"Kind of." He mumbled to her. He needed to take the chance. If Kagome hated him, well he'd make it up to her someway, or somehow. If she wasn't, well then good for her, but like Miroku and Sango said, she had a right to know, and to keep this from her was one of the worst things he could do for her right now, especially when that time DID come and she ended up potentially leaving him. He needed to tell her now, he loved her, and she had a right to know.

"Kagome." he said, "There was something else I wanted to tell you, earlier, about last night, something really important..."

She wasn't going to cry this time. If he regretted what happened last night, then there wasn't much she could do about it. It would hurt, but atleast she did what she always dreamed. Gulping, she slowed her pace down and continued to look down. She couldn't look at him. He just needed to tell her, she wasn't getting good vibes about this and it wasn't helping her emotions at all. "Okay," there was a brief pause. "What is it?"

It was then he felt a very small pang in the back of his head. An instinct he didn't even know he had, nor had he noticed before. Perhaps it was only now the "connection" had set in, but there was a definite feeling. Something along the lines of a feral, "Mate sad, make mate happy." vibe coming from the back of his head. He ignored it for now, not wondering why she was so upset, when he took a deep breath and prayed to the gods above, please don't hate me, please don't hate me, please don't hate me...

"Well, it's about your bite mark." he said, pointing to the spot that was hidden by her hair. indeed, it had been a day single he had bit her, but the indent was still very prominent, especially where his teeth broke the skin. "It's...a bit more than a bite mark..."

Kagome looked up at him, a slight frown on her face and her eyebrows were furrowed a bit. Is that what was bothering him? The bite mark? Her hand moved up to the mark he made last night and covered it behind her hair. It was still bit sore and warm. She was worried over something like that? She wanted to smack herself. "Then...what is it?" Looking up, she came to the end of the sidewalk, waiting to cross the street. But the walking light was red, meaning they couldn't walk yet.

He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. This was it, the moment of truth. The moment she would hate him or they would at least take it in stride. He released the breath he was holding in and explained...

"When a demon mates with someone, they bite their respective other, or "Mark" them. As a result of the marking, the two are bonded together on a deeper connection, almost down to their soul. As a result of this, there's more of an emotional connection and, well, other demons know that the other is claimed by a demon. It's kind of like being, well, married. Kagome...I marked you...."

he winced, preparing the worst.

Kagome stood there staring at him. The light turned and the people behind them started walking past her. She was shocked. She didn't know what to say or how to react. She didn't know if that's what she really wanted. She needed time to think. She wasn't angry or sad or happy or upset. She was just rationalizing what the possibilities were. She had no idea what the mark meant even before, so this was all new to her. Granted, she was flattered that he chose her to be with, she loved him and she was happy about that. But she was human and he was half demon. Down the road, he'd continue to live while she grew old and died. Without a word, she blinked and let out a slow breath.

"Oh boy..."

he wasn't face first in the ground so that was likely a good one. One eye opened up to look at her, who seemed to be thinking about the possibilities or something of the like. He just stood there, not wanting to make the situation worse by rushing her for an answer or anything of the like. So they they stood, him looking down at her and her seemingly having a little, internal panic attack.

"Kagome...?"

She looked at him quickly, her dark eyes boaring into his. What could she say right now? It was pretty big news. It meant more than marriage. It meant their souls were bound together. They were one. Letting out a slow breath, she tried to clear her head as best she could. Unbeknownst to her, her hand moved up to touch the mark on her neck again. "Why didn't you tell me before?" She whispered, the light turned again, not letting her walk acrosss the street like she orignally wanted to.

"I was worried about what you would think.<" He mumbled, refusing to look at her and instead focused on the other side of the street. "Thought you would hate me or something for doing something so life changing without permission..."

She didn't hate him. She could never hate him. "I don't hate you..." Kagome looked up at him, knowing he wasn't looking at her. Moving closer to him, her soft hand moved to his cheek, trying to get him to listen to her. "I could never hate you, Inuyasha. And granted it is life changing, I need to think about it more first before I really agree to this." Was there even a way to reverse what had been done? She didn't know what she wanted right now. She needed to think.

He nodded his head a little bit, a little bit of his anxiety finally leaving his shoulders as she said she could never hate him but needed to think about it. All he did was give her a little nod, understanding. "Right." He said. "Of course you need to think. I understand>

With a slight nod, she let out another slow breath and walked across the street when the light turned. She waited for him to walk with her. She didn't want this to be awkward, not at all. From what happened last night, nothing in her mind could be awkward between them. But then a weird thought struck her. If he bit her, then did he really want to be with her? Body and soul wise? Her heart skipped a beat and she smiled a bit. "Did you do it because it was just a spur of the moment thing or did you really want to?"

"Feh." he huffed, crossing his arms again as he followed behind her. Hey, he may be more emotionally open to her but that didn't mean he had to stop acting like himself. "I bit and marked you didn't I? What do you think?" he asked, chuckling. "Case you didn't see, I'm not marking everyone."

She rolled her eyes and nudged him with her arm playfully. "That's not what I meant," she scoffed and stepped back onto the sidewalk with him. After a moment, she stopped and walked into one of the grocery stores. Tucking her hair behind her ears, she skimmed over the list. They could get the food here and then go else where for the bathing and medical supplies.

He was struck with an immense combination of many smells, almost to the point it hurt. he winced a little bit as several scents and spices and foots assaulted his senses, but he tried to keep it inconspicuous as possible. Maybe if he ignored it. However, "Let's hurry up and get this done." he said.

She looked at him. "You don't have to stay in here. I know its a lot to take in." She stated with a smile. "I'll only be a few minutes. You can stand outside." She understood how sensitive his nose was, so she wasn't going to push him into going in here with her.

"Hm, fine." he said, nodding his head. "Don't stay too long. If you do I'm just going to come drag you out of here." he said as he walked back to the door, where the smell was far less abusive. With a sigh, all he did was lean against the wall outside, crossing his arms and allowing him to think. This was not always a good thing.

She needed some thinking time as well. So she strolled through the store, grabbing things she needed and things she thought would be good to make tonight for dinner in Kaede's hut. Stumbling across the ramen, she gathered a bunch of it and threw them into the shopping basket she picked up on the way in. Eventually, she'd have to tell Inuyasha what she thought about the mark on her neck. And she would have to talk to her mother about it. How could she leave her life here? How could she leave Inuyasha...she would miss him everyday. To the point where it would hurt to even breath. Sighing, she ran a hand through her hair. Life was tough as you got older.

His own complications were of the variety involving what she would do when she had to leave, and what he would do about Kikyo. He supposed it was a bit of a strange way of thinking of his promise. He did promise to avenge her, and avenge her he will, killing Naraku would benefit that. Not to mention there was that little promise of "Always being with her.". He loved Kikyo, and he loved Kagome. Kikyo in a completely different way than how he loved Kagome, but he had never broken his promise to another person, not to his abilities. Not to mention even if the bond wasn't that strong there was still some emotional turmoil SHE was going through.

He was so mad at himself, he had basically ruined his life and hers with one stupid decision because he couldn't learn to keep it in his pants. A hand ran through his silver hair and he growled at himself in annoyance. He was so angry. Who knew a simple bite would ruin something.

And yet...he didn't regret it. There was that little voice that told him all would be okay in the end. He chuckled ironically to himself. He couldn't wait to see how that happened. He'd be ruining her life either way, either away form her family, or away from her friends. It was a lose/lose situation.

An idea came to mind. Maybe the jewel could do something about that...
