Megohime didn’t crumple to the ground like he expected her to, in fact, she hardly even flinched from her spot. Her grip on his neck tightened, her red eyes focused on him. “I’m not one of your girls, human.” She actually lifted him off the floor, then slammed him down hard against the floor, skin itching as a few feathers emerged from around her shoulders.

Ren managed to climb up onto Yukimura’s back, holding onto the beast the best she could. “We’ve got them, we should go.” Yukimura said to Masamune.

"Megohime!" Masamune called, "It's time to go!" He looked down at Genzo and glared hard.
"If I hear word of you subjugating more young women, you will see me again."

The man was covered in a cold sweat, but he only glared back at Masamune as Megohime left Takechi on the floor to move to the broken window. Yukimura took flight first, his body illuminating brightly to blind the forces below so they couldn’t get any clear shots at them.

Akihime held on to him and Ren as tight as she could, not wanting to fall or lose her.
Masamune changed shape and burst out of the building, eager to cause a distraction for the others to escape.

Megohime and the others followed after Yukimura as Masamune provided a distraction for them, but it had little affect. Both Masamune and Yukimura were targeted, and the group had to scatter to avoid being shot down. Megohime recognized the ammunition as real bullets and her heart dropped, only able to do what she could to avoid being shot herself.
An explosion to the right of Yukimura made him have to bank hard to avoid Akihime and Ren being injured from the blast, being engulfed in smoke.

"Don't let go of me, Rengoku!" Akihime said in a panic, holding Ren in as tight a vice as she could.
Masamune rammed into the chopper, the blades crumpling against his scales. He wasn't going to allow any harm to befall the second gens, not Yukimura's followers and certainly not Megohime.

Another explosion on Yukimura’s other side made Akihime’s ears ring painfully, almost sending her flying from Yukimura’s back. Yukimura’s feathers seemed to protect Akihime and Ren from any debris or flames from the grenades, but another explosion made Akihime slip down Yukimura’s back, and before she realized it, Ren was gone, no where to be seen.

“Please hold on!” Yukimura was doing his best to avoid being hit by bullets or grenades, knowing he would live, but Akihime and Rengoku wouldn’t, and if he was shot out of the sky, they’d be done for. He hadn’t seemed to notice the disappearance of Ren, too focused on flying out of the mess with taking as little damage as he could.

There was no sign of the other woman, not even her body plummeting toward the earth, had she been caught in an explosion? Yukimura and the rest had finally made it out of range of the artillery, and all was silent except for the wind.

They seemed to fly forever to Akihime, and when they finally landed, they were at a rendezvous point for all the teams that had went out that night. They had nearly fifteen men and women waiting that had been rescued, all looking both extremely relieved, but terribly sad. Once again, Ren was gone, not a trace of her to be found, not even those flying behind Yukimura had seen her fall in the chaos.

Akihime was still in tears, not even openly wailing anymore. Her friend was gone, most likely dead, and it was her fault. She slid off Yukimura's back and tried to hide her almost nude form in front of a True God.

One of what Akihime could only assume was one of Yukimura’s group moved over with a heavy wool cloak, carefully putting it around Akihime’s shoulders. Many other of the rescued men and women had similar cloaks on, indicating they too were all in similar states of undress.
The massive bird erupted into flames, those flames shrinking before the figure of a man revealed in the shrinking inferno. He looked rather human, a man only a bit older than Akihime herself- he was bleeding though, multiple bullet wounds on his stomach and chest, but they barely seemed to bother him. “Are you hurt?” He asked as he moved over to Akihime, looking around and noticing they were short one. He frowned and clenched his fist, kneeling down in front of her. “Forgive me, I was unable to save your friend.”

“Yukimura-sama..”
Yukimura knew just how dangerous it was to go back into the city just after a raid, they usually laid low a few months or so to secure the new arrivals safety, but he had never lost a lab born before. He looked up at her with sad brown eyes, but gave her a nod. “I promise to bring your friend home, even if her soul has perished from her body.”

Ren coughed and grunted as she tried to crawl her way out of the trash heap she had landed in. Her lungs stung from the smoke she had inhaled, and her wings ached, feathers singed and dirty. She had just barely managed to not become a stain on the pavement, but was disoriented and terrified. Crawling out of the trash, she managed to wobble to her feet. In the distance she could hear sirens, and part of her wanted to run straight back to Takechi, but she hesitated. She finally had a chance to escape. She didn’t have to be a shared whore anymore, she didn’t have to have pills forced down her throat- she kicked herself at that, forced? She practically begged for them. She stumbled down the street, hiding her wings as she stared to hurry further away from Genzo’s penthouse.

Ren didn’t know what to do- Takechi took care of everything she needed as long as she kept him satisfied, and now that she had run from him, what would she do? Where would she sleep? Get food? She squeezed away her tears and kept going down back alleys, just wanting to put as much distance between Takechi and herself.

She had to dig through the trash for food; it was gross but it kept food in her stomach. She stole from convenient stores and took whatever she could in the alleys.

Ren did everything she could to keep herself alive, but she was suffering. Withdrawals made functioning near impossible on some days, leaving her with nothing to eat. She stole food, clothes, and even managed to swipe a knife from some thug. What had happened to Akihime? Was she ok? Why hadn’t she come looking for her yet?
Digging through a dumpster, Ren found a few stale bread rolls tossed out behind a bakery, hard as a rock, but still edible.

There were tons of people that walked passed her without looking at her. A man walked passed, dressed rather nicely, his white hair making him stand out.

Ren watched the man, taking note of the expensive suit and oddly colored hair, chewing on the bread as her stomach growled. She hid her appearance with a beanie and a big hoodie, shoving the bread in the pocket of her hoodie as she followed after him. It was dark enough that if he were to go into a secluded area, she could rob him and run easily. Gripping the handle of the knife hidden in her pocket, she kept her eyes on him.
