My Girlfriend Cosplays Supergirl (w/KiraMusani)

Calla nodded. "Good advice, Jeff. Umm, can you make sure the rest of these work orders are describing everything you asked for? This will wrap it up, and I won't mind hanging around to visit until Dad gets back here." Of course her stomach chose then to growl, causing her to blush. "Oop. Sorry. Going on seven and we haven't had dinner yet. My bad."

Candy said, "We got leftover jambalaya. All they'd have to do is warm it up. Definitely enough for two." She finished up the final pan and began cleaning the stove, counters and draining the dirty soapy water.

Calla rolled her eyes. "And boss lady forgets that until we can all move in we're at our parents' homes, and my dad has a kitchen staff." She said calmly.

Kara smiled at Noel. "I gotta finish drying those dishes, but if you want, I'll remind you every morning to ask whichever detective checks up on you in the morning to ask him or her. Oh. Or the other her."

Pat put her paper down. "I just thought of something. I know it's either Penny or Christine... But why don't you go into a little more details with your favorite detective? Let whichever her it is know why you're concerned."

Jeff nodded.
“You go ahead and mingle, get a bite even if just to tie you over. I’ll go through these and let you know if there is anything.”

Noel nodded to both Kara and Pat.
“Thanks I would like that. And yeah I think I will, thank you” she took a breath and wiped her tears away.

Jeff didn’t take too long to finish up reading over everything and Noel would wait for Kara to finish before re-attaching herself to her hip. Though she still had more she wanted to talk about with Kara she would wait for when she was done the dishes.

Meanwhile, Stephanie finally went over the plans and Noel's notes. "See. You knowing the rules... I wouldn't have thought of that play. My only issue is Bonnie is such a ball hog and glory hound. Coach teaches there's no I in team. Tell him it's my idea, but when she does her showboating... Bench her."

Calla really only had the Zorel parents to converse with, but it was something, until Candy joined the living room and Kara joined the two at the kitchen table. When Jeff came in, Calla arose. "Everything's asked for that you wanted to be done before move-in?"

Noel smiled, being thoroughly distracted at the moment.
"Yeah, and see that is why I needed your input, I don't know the players. Since Bonnie is a ball hog, then, hmm, how is she skill-wise? her three-point shots, her mobility? Like is she good enough to warrant her being a ball hog?" Noel asked.

Jeff nodded.
"Yeah should be good, I talked to the team and made a few mentions on their priorities going forward with the reno but for now looks perfectly livable." He nodded.

Stephanie looked puzzled at Noel. "Come on, Firecracker. You were there. You met her. She showed off, until you cut her down to size by being the defense against her. Yeah, when we lost you, she started doing the Bonnie is the team the whole team and no team but Bonnie. If there had been other girls trying out, she probably would have been the first one cut. Sure, her skills are good, but she's only doing it to feed her monster ego. Three point shots are about all she does. Wide open, guaranteed basket. If she's in coverage, it drops down to about 25%. She doesn't shape up... She'll be in foul trouble pretty much every game." Steph sighed, looking down. "You're right on something else, Firecracker. I go to school, I'll be putting the team at risk. They have enough problems. All of them probably named Bonnie Bagley."

Stephanie was explaining loud enough that Jeff would overhear, but could he give them advice to give the coach? Was what Stephanie witnessed enough to give Noel advice to give the coach.

Calla smiled. "That's great to hear. So... What's going on anything good with everyone?"

"Yeah but I don't want to assume that one interaction with her was all there was. And if you are right about her being able to score open 3 pointers consistently, she certainly can be useful, with the right positioning, and she can keep her glory until at least the other team gets wise. And we can use her for free throws" She added.

Jeff decided to keep to his current buissness.
"Yeah, no one is super happy of course, but they all seem at the least content with it."

Stephanie nodded. "Sure, if she's the one fouled and not the one doing the fouling. Kinda what I meant by her being in foul trouble every game. Though, if she's constantly holding the ball? Yeah, she'll get fouled the most. That's just the law of averages."

Calla knew she needed to ask this. "You probably heard this already from Betty, but has Chuck said anything to you about his wedding plans? She says he hasn't said hardly anything about it all week. Did they hitch secretly and just not tell us? Even Wendy, the maid of honor, has been quiet... But that's usual for her."

Candy shrugged. "I don't know. I'm thinking they did, and the letter size text I got from his fianceé right after the storm makes me think they might have. Remember, Jeff? I showed it to you. They had talked, brevity of life, not putting things off, their future plans... The whole nine yards. The storm scared them both."

Calla made a face. "Wow. Was hoping to witness a Christmas Wedding."

Noel shook her head at Stephanie.
"No, I mean if she is benched and another player has a chance to take a foul, we sub her in to shoot the foul for them. If she is our best free thrower why not use that?" She asked.

Jeff shrugged.
"I am the manager of the band, not of their lives, sure it seems like they might be eloping or something, but that is their prerogative" He stated.

Stephanie's eyes went wide. "Oh. Oh! OH!!" Her smile grew bigger with each oh. "Yeah, yeah, I see what you mean. Sure, see I don't know the ins and outs like you do. That's why coach has you as student assistant! That way you're still involved."

Calla sighed. "I thought a manager took care of conflicts. I mean... It's not like Chuck to suddenly go radio silent."

Candy frowned. "Calla. The only person's health he's got to worry about until we're all under one roof again, is mine. And that's nutritional. You know? Dietary. Ordered by my doctor, and I don't mean family doctor. Kara approved it, though."

Kara popped her head up and looked over at her name being mentioned. "Huh? What did I approve? Wazzit something I wasn't sposed to?"

Noel nodded.
"Yeah, and I am happy that you are here to help, knowing the players is a big deal and I don't really remember most of that stuff. My umm, my mind was elsewhere during practice." She admitted.

Jeff looked at Candy.
"Bingo, if it affected the whole band sure. But this is far more personal than that."
He then looked at Kara.
"A different Kara, one with a medical Phd." He clarified.

Stephanie shrugged. "Didn't seem it to me. If anything, the whole cheer squad were checking out your moves."

Kara looked at Stephanie with an eyebrow raised and a frown.

Stephanie realized her error especially since it also garnered Pat's attention, with her putting her paper down to her lap, Calla with a hand to her mouth and Lenard doing a double take. "Oh. That came out wrong. I mean how they were watching you deflate Bonnie's ego."

The parents exchanged glances and shrugged. Pat went back to her paper, shaking it open.

Kara nodded to Jeff first, before turning back to the other two. "I was about to say. I was going to have to defend both the squad's intentions AND Noel's honor!"

About then, the halogen lights of Calla's car shown through the living room window and the horn blew. Calla jumped up, "My dad's here."

Jeff also looked over at her comment and raised an eyebrow, similar to Kara. Though Noel took just a moment longer she blushed and covered her face embarrassed at the implications.

Before Noel could get a word out through the lights came through and Jeffery stood up.
"Well glad that was cleared up, but now I must escort you out." He insisted as he walked to the door and opened it, but after looking out and down he immediately signed for her father to circle and shut the door.
"You probably want to call the police, someone set up a bear trap on your front porch in front of the door." He stated locking the door and looking out the window for anyone who might be hiding about.

"I'm sorry did you just say bear trap?!" Noel asked in a panicked voice, the moment not seeming real at first.

The driver nodded, pulled out of the driveway and went down the street. Calla's stomach growled again. That, however, contradicted what she said. "Bear trap?! I could have lost my whole foot! I definitely lost my appetite..."

Candy got up off the couch. "Have her lay down here, Jeff. She looks a little wobbly. It's okay, Calla. Now you see why I hired Jeff as the band manager."

Calla managed a nod as she was helped to the couch.

Kara instinctively hugged Noel, as Stephanie instinctively took one hand and patted it. Stephanie said, "Get my dad on his cell. We don't know if this guy is smart enough to cut the landline, but why take chances?"

Lenard had jumped up and nodded, calling Wainwright immediately. As he hit end call, he announced, "Robert and Christine will be right over. Seems they were at a stakeout at a hotel just a few blocks away on the main drag. Apparently, they'd gotten a tip about your ex. We aren't to leave the house or touch anything. Calla... Welcome to the lifeboat."

Jeff nodded and tested the landline.
“Seems the landline is still working just fine” he started placing the phone back so his call would go through.

Noel hugged Kara back and gave Steph’s hand a squeeze pulling her in lightly to show that she wanted to have them both close. She also tried to move so they were all sitting, not sure if Kara would faint if the idea of someone's leg getting trapped in a bear trap made its way into her mind.

Once Jeff made a lap around the house making sure windows and doors were all locked and intact, he made his way back to the group.
“I don't think whoever did this came inside.”

Lenard nodded. "Let's hope not."

At that moment, the phone rang. "Zorels residence. Oh. Mister Mondale. Yes, just a minute." He handed it to Jeff. "He caught something in the headlights in front of the door. Wants to know what it was, and if he should stay parked down in front of your house. Wants also an estimate in time to return. The latter I can't even hazard a guess. Calla will have to be interviewed. That much is certain."

Shortly, only a minute later, a bright spotlight from the police cruiser, with Canyon at the wheel, hit the door with it's beam. The police detectives would clearly see the set bear trap.

Stephanie also squeezed Noel's hand back, and all three teens would be around the little kitchen table. "This is exactly why telling the press what you look like now is a horrid idea. It's bad enough he knows you are here. This guy is cracked worse than the Mad Hatter."

Jeff let him know to stay there, for now, the police just got here and he would let him know what they wanted. They were the experts on this after all. Though after the cops clear the place he can likely head over to the house and join them inside.

Noel leaned into the others. "Yeah, I guess you were right..." She spoke a little out of it, her mind wandering into what could have happened if jeff had not seen the trap.

Mr. Mondale thanked Jeff and said that if that's what he wanted, he could walk Calla down to Jeff's house and the car as soon as the police finished with getting Calla's information.

Meanwhile, Robert Canyon had parked the car and a bedraggled looking Christine stepped out of the car. Standing erect, this was yet another redhead, but this one, with her hair looking a bit like a rat's nest, and holding her hat under her arm, would be about three to four inches taller than Noel. The height if Stephanie would stop slouching, she'd match. Christine showed her seniority despite being late twenties if not thirty. "We need to set that off and get it bagged and tagged. That's foremost. Do a walk about will ya, Robert, and look for a good size branch to trigger it."

"Shouldn't we stay together, Chris?"

"Will you just have a captain cook, mate?! I'm a big Sheila now!" Christine barked sure to draw attention to herself. However, no one would be foolish enough to mess with her, would they, despite being in plainclothes? She stepped away from the vehicle and began a thorough search for anything the setter of the bear trap might have dropped or lost, senses alert but not her eyes. They were focused on the ground.

Jeff agreed and let Calla know once the police give them the okay he would bring her home.

Noel stayed with Stephanie and Kara as they heard the police arrive, knowing that they would likely come in to question them when everything was safe.

Outside as they searched they would not find any more bear traps, it seems just the one was left, though something to activate it was not too hard to find. On top of that, no new objects were found but some of the bushes by the steps near the door had been broken, it seems whoever placed it, avoided walking on the cement and moved across the grass.

Calla sighed and nodded. Agreeing to being walked to the band's new home since her dad was staying up there for now.

Robert finally found a big stick that looked sturdy enough as Christine continued a search of the perimeter. Canyon reached with the stick. "Getcher gloves on Chris, and protect your eyes from flying wood chips. Here goes." He reached for the trigger and everyone would hear it snap and shatter the stick as well as Christine yelp "Crikey! Heard that clean over 'ere!" She had gone back to the car for safety from flying shrapnel. Canyon called Christine over. "Take a gander at this, Chris."

Christine took a deep breath as she came over to where Canyon was pointing in the bushes and grass. She made a face. "Cordon that area off and call for backup and forensics. We could find traces of DNA in them there bushes."

Canyon rolled his eyes. "Your western is about as bad as my Australian slang... Mate."

Jeff had kept his eyes out looking at what was happening, and knew what they had planned was prepared for the loud noise that came.

Noel however was not as prepared and leaned into Kara and tried to pull Stephanie into them as well. She also gave off a sudden squeak-like scream.

With them all sitting and having heard "bear trap" only Kara seemed somewhat prepared, but she still jumped. Stephanie winced and gasped when she jumped.

Calla looked about ready to pass out. "That sounded bone splintering lost my leg, bad." She gasped patting her chest.

Chris was holding the large evidence bag open. "Carefully, Robert. This is one cracked nut. Attempted laming, as whoever would've stepped out might've lost everything from the shin down."

Robert held up the stick. "Underestimation, much?" He quipped.

"Awright. WOULD have." With the bear trap bagged, Robert took it to the trunk, as Christine knocked.

She sighed as she heard Lenard say, "Although we know it's one of the detectives, Jeff, ask. We all need to get in the habit of that for the foreseeable future."

Jeff nodded.
"Who is it?" He asked opening the door once he got a response.
"Everything okay out here? Was that the only one?" He asked.

Noel meanwhile kept holding onto her friends.
"I can't believe this is happening. I wish I never went to that school" She spoke quietly though Steph and Kara would hear her.

Chris played nice, answering with her full name after her position with the police. Upon entering, she said, "That was the only trap, but you will be having a parade before long. We have a section of the lawn and one of your bushes cordoned off as it appears the perpetrator stood in it to set it on the porch. We've a good idea who it was. It's just catching him."

Robert came up the walkway and he didn't sound happy. "But, sir! We don't know that for certain! Sir, that's your DAUGHTER! No sir, I like my job very much... Yes, sir... But I don't wanna be blamed when she comes crying to you, about THIS."

Christine raised an eyebrow as Robert came in, looking like a forlorn puppy that just got the business section of the newspaper. "Shut the door, Chris." He pinched his nose and closed his eyes, before looking around for his target.

Christine shook her head again, but did so. "Wainwright on the warpath?"

Canyon spotted Stephanie as she was patting Noel's hand and sadly nodding her understanding, while Kara gave Noel a hug. He walked sadly over to them and knelt down. "Noel... This wasn't your fault. According to the lecture I just got... It's all on Stephanie for slumping and slouching." He looked at Stephanie who suddenly had a deer in the headlights expression. "You're grounded and under house arrest here at the Zorels until farther notice." He held out his hand. "Your dad's orders. Sorry. Your phone, please."

Jeff nodded and asked that once everything else was taken care of, perhaps they should set up some security cameras watching the front of the house. Even if it was just until the situation was resolved.

Noel shook her head.
"That is not fair, this was probably my ex, right? well, the news said that I lived here, even if Steph wasn't here this may have happened anyway. There is no way it's her fault!" Noel tried to argue for Stephanie, holding her arms so she couldn't hand her phone over.

Calla jumped up, and Christine held her back. "And hello?! She's not the only redhead here!" She tugged on her own head of hair.

Christine got on the radio. "Captain Wainwright? Detective Andersen here. Granted, Stephanie has been drawing Steve's ire the most, and no, we don't know for sure Stephanie was even the target this time, but don't you think you're being a tad harsh? How's Stephanie supposed to call her other friends to let them know she's okay?"

Wainwright sounded beyond irate. "Andersen!! Zorels have a landline, yes?! She can use it, allow her time to copy her contacts, then have the Zorels put it under lock and key! I don't want excuses from her, them, or any more defense! If she can't stand up straight and show her height... She can face the consequences!"

Christine, defeated, sighed and replied, "Understood. But I want to be on the record of being the second to remind you, sir, she didn't start slouching until after she heard of Noel's attack from the Steve that went after blondes. BEFORE we learned fully that the one after gingers escaped. And Stephanie is NOT Noel's only ginger friend. I'm one myself. Pardon my saying so, sir, but right now you're being as mean as a cat's piss. Out." She disconnected. "Noel... Let go of her hand. You heard. The Cap is on the warpath, and she is his daughter, and she's admitted it herself. She's 16. He wants her to turn over her phone to the Zorels. No. It's not fair. Bloody Oath."

Canyon nodded, and patted Noel's shoulder. "Me, too. Uh. If oath means she's agreeing with you. When he has time to think about it, Steph will most likely get it back. For now, we have to honor her dad's wishes. Stephanie's phone is to be confiscated."

Pat got up and retrieved a small notepad so Stephanie could copy her contacts list, and put it and a pen in front of her.

Christine took a deep breath. "Okay, while that is being handled... Let's focus back on the reason we're here... Crikey! Calla, how tall are you?"

Calla blinked, before answering. "Five four. Why?"

Christine looked at Noel, and then Calla, and back at Noel. "Jeff. My partner is busy... But are you seeing what I am?"
