To Protect Everything (Ghostxtiger and R[D])

"It's fine princess. I just hadn't expected the question is all." Alex went to being silent, of course. But the question had stuck. As a knight, Alex had the ability to marry nobles and peasants alike, since a knight's status was high, even if their estate wasn't. Knights really had the most freedom when it came to love. That was why there were so many stories of brave knights falling in love with princesses or uncommonly pretty common women.

Aida looked back and smiled shyly at the knight.A servant came out and said that everything was ready for their trip.Aida nodded then let out a deep sigh as she walked back to the castle.

Alex followed the Princess, still thinking on the subject of love now. The princess really just had choice really. Most of the time, a princess married another prince to combine kingdoms. But despite the knight's options for love, for Alex, it wasn't so simple.

Aida went out to the gate where the carriage was waiting. She said good buy to the King and Queen then got into the carriage. The subject of love was still on her mind, wondering if she would ever be able to marry for love or just get married off for power.

The knight was mounted on a pure white horse, just as the king would want for appearances sake. Luckily, Alex got to keep the glaive. It wasn't a great weapon on horseback, but Alex was best with it on foot.

The travel would be long and mostly uneventful. But Alex had to be alert at all times. And on a travel like this, the knight would be constantly stuck in the armor, in case an attack happened at night. Sleeping, standing up, in armor. Damn the king and his fancy tastes.

King Melchior sent the group on their way.Along with her bodyguard Aida had several other knights to accompany her on her trip.Adia thought that this was all completely pointless but can't defy her father.

"Security will be tighter because of what happened last trip. They would be foolish to try now, with this many armed men." Alex reassured the princess. "It may seem like too much, but your father is just being more protective this time around."

After some travel, Alex began to lead the way and waved the carriage over to a different path than the one the princess had been on before. It was a short trip until the carriage stopped, despite there being quite some daylight left to travel by. "We're stopping here for the night." The knight was calling out to everyone. "We'll cross the river tomorrow around mid-afternoon. It will be less dangerous this way, even if it delays our trip some."

Aida stepped out of the carriage to stretch her legs since she was sitting for quite some time. She went over to a bush where some flowers where growing. She got on one knee to take in it's scent.

"Princess..." Alex came up behind her, probably not surprising considering the sound of such armor. "You're looking the wrong way." Alex pointed right behind her, to a wide field of flowers. The knight picked to spot because of the flowers, knowing it would give the princess at least one good memory for the trip.

Alex was happy that the princess was excited. So the knight simply watched over her from a distance. There was no need to be so close to her in this area. The knight knew it was safe, wide-open area.

Alex smiled under the helmet. The knight took some time to try and relax, leaning up against the carriage. The armor was horrible. If it had been up to Alex, there'd only be a suit of battlefield armor, which was a chestpiece, and chainmail over most of the body for flexibility.

"For your protection, I'm not to get out of my armor. And it would be inconvenient for me to get up if I ever sat down." Alex chuckled a little, internally thankful for at least the offer.

"oh...that's right"Aida said, plucking a flower and taking in it's scent"mmm...this is such a beautiful place. Can we stop here when we come back?"she requested, knowing full well she'll be coming back.

"Of course Princess." Alex bowed. Yes, they'd be coming back. It wasn't like the Princess was going to like this guy. And even if she did, she'd still have to report to her parents.

Alex blinked, a little bewildered by the action. "Th-thank you, Princess..." The knight stammered a little, taking the flower as delicately as possible with a metal hand.
