Unravel (1x1 w/ Jikkah)

Amaya shook her head again. “No, I’ve still got plenty of paper left... I-” She hesitated for a moment, turning her gaze down. “They said that I’ll be ready by my next cycle.” Ready? Cycle? No, what? The words made his limbs tingle with numbness. He knew exactly why they worked so hard to keep Amaya alive, it was always in the back of his mind, but it still disturbed him deep to his core every time it was brought up.

He felt sick, violently sick. Like his guts were being pulled out and rearranged. He couldn't handle what they were using her for, she was so kind for a ghoul. She had feelings, too. She didn't ask for this.
"I want to take you out of here...more than anything..." He muttered numbly.

“You know that can’t happen..” She said softly. “As much as I wish it would, I don’t think I’d even be able to make it on my own outside.” She gave a solemn smile. “I’m not strong enough.”

“You shouldn’t waste anymore time with me, I’m sure you’re busy with your group, a-and I should finish this book, I have so many others to read.” He could see it hurt her, how she was being used and caged, even when she tried to put on a brave smile.

“You shouldn’t spend your time locked away with me, you should go out and get fresh air.” She urged softly.

He made a face, not really wanting to leave her alone. "Just a little longer, ok...? I like talking to you...you don't glare at me..."

“No, not really, but from how you can climb, I’d say you were raised by one.” She brushed some stray hair behind her ear again. “You look fine... Except for that lip and eye.. you know I hate seeing you so beat up..”

“At least try to avoid looking like you fell down stairs..?” She tried to plead with him.

“Then I’d say you’d have to show me some of your moves one of these times.”
It was almost like old times, Amaya would laugh and smile at his ridiculous jokes, they would spend time in their field of flowers and... that’s right, she wasn’t there anymore, she was the reason Amaya was so frail.

He didn't want to bring her up, not to Amaya. It might hurt her too much to remember. He didn't want that. He never wanted Amaya to be in pain of any kind.
"You bet. I like to think I'm pretty good~" He replied.

Amaya was brought into protection as a ward of the state, supported and awarded to the CCG. Shingen kept his promise and paid for her psychiatric care and medications, which along side therapy slowly stabilized her over several months. Her personality and demeanor became rather withdrawn, and she seemed to lack a majority of her emotions, but the doctors told Shingen it might simply be another form of coping, and that it might lessen over time. For the time being, she was evaluated and cleared to be enrolled in the academy under Shingen’s recommendation, still a rather bright pupil.

The other students were rather wary of her, with her emotionless face and flat way of speaking, she didn't really garner a lot of camaraderie. Except for maybe one other student. Akechi Mitsuhide was rather fond of her, finding her blank airs to be rather interesting.

Jin didn’t seem bothered that she was a social outcast, that no student approached her, that she was always alone and the talk of the academy. She focused on her work, kept her nose in her books and ignored the whispers around her.

"Ohayo~" Mitsuhide sat beside her one day, looking at her study book before looking up at her, "You must be Kawabe~ Mitsuhide desu~"

She pulled her attention away from her book, looking at him with those doll like eyes, dead, yet a beautiful bright copper color. Her expression was just as dead as her eyes, and she simply stared at him, waiting.

It felt almost like she scowled at Mitsuhide, but her expression never changed, not even her eyes. She found his reasoning illogical, why should they be friends simply because no one wanted to be around either of them?
