Ghouls Dogma (1x1 with DarkMudkip)

She took a shaky breath and nodded, looking to Masamune. “I’m ok, really.” She couldn’t stop herself from shaking. “It was just a stress reaction, it’ll... it’ll happen..!”

She crawled forward and pulled him tight against her chest, wrapping him in the blanket around her shoulders. “Hush, I’m not hurt, no harm done..” She said softly,

“But you didn’t... I’m ok..” She tried to soothe him, petting his hair and holding him, letting him cry.

She let him cry, sitting silently and just rubbing his back gently, knowing it was hard to come to terms with their situation, that his former self was dead, and soon she would be too.

Megohime declined even faster after that, and soon, she was completely bed bound and in constant pain. She would vomit blood daily, and the tips of her fingers were turning black and her fingernails falling out. Her hair was starting to fall out in clumps, and her eyes would only further grow whiteas she slowly went blind. Eating was painful, breathing was painful, everything hurt, and it was becoming clear her wounds weren’t going to close at all anymore. The stitches Dr. Kanou has put in had fallen out several times, but she hadn’t healed, meaning Masamune had to stitch her back up. The gash on her shin hadn’t healed, and neither had the bruises across her body. Bed sores started to form on her back and legs, making bathing an agonizing experience. Masamune had to do it all now, and Megohime was constantly apologizing to him, clearly ashamed and embarrassed, but she couldn’t even hold the sponge to clean herself. Crying became a daily routine, either from the pain of Masamune scrubbing her wounds and stitching them back up, or the humiliation of him having to bathe her and help her go to the bathroom. The smell of death and rot only increased, and that too both scared and embarrassed Megohime, leaving her in a heavy depression, stuck in bed and in pain.

Megohime would lay awake in agony, weeping softly in pain, body shaking so hard her teeth chattered. He was constantly having to wrap up more and more of her in bandages, already having her arms and legs wrapped up to her elbows and knees.

He could hardly touch her without causing her tremendous pain. He felt awful for even asking her if she wanted to be intimate. How could she want to make love if she was always hurting?

Megohime wanted nothing more than for Masamune to hold her, to make love to her again, but who would want to lay with someone who smelled of a rotting corpse? It only worsened her depression. Without some sort of pain management, she would only continue to suffer more, and worse yet, they had run out of food.

She looked to where she saw his blurry shape, unable to see any detail any longer. “M-Morphine..? How..?” She grunted and curled up in a ball, holding back her sobs for a moment. “Y-You can’t just buy it...”

She nodded, in too much pain to do anything else but to lay there in bed. Megohime’s appetite had diminished to nearly nothing, only managing to hold down a bite or two in the last few weeks alone, but Masamune’s hunger only seemed to grow as his body did. He had gained back a healthy amount of weight, and even was developing muscles he never had. Controlling his kagune was still a bit tricky, but Megohime coached him the best she could in her state.

He headed out and the first place he went to was the hospital. With his new speed he made it there in record time, sneaking in and slipping into the supply room to grab bottle after bottle of morphine and a box of syringes. He had hoped it would help Megohime, just thinking about how much pain she was in made him almost cry right there before he slipped back out and headed home.

Watching her die like this was nearly just as painful for Masamune as it was Megohime. She hadn’t done this to herself, all of it had been inflicted upon her, by both humans and ghouls, she had been torn apart and cut up so many times that she would never recover again, and the cells in her body stopped producing and were slowly dying off.

He sobbed on his way home, sitting outside and just crying quietly to himself before he finally moved in to ease Megohime's pain, "Your shining knight has brought your remedy.." He said softly.

She managed to muster a smile, turning her head to look in his direction again. “My hero..” She grimaced and her trembling became more noticeable again. He could see that her lips had started to turn blue, just a bit, but he knew it was only a nother sign of failing organs.

The morphine burned as he injected it into her, but it didn’t take long to start working, allowing her comfort for the first time in days.
