Is He A Lover or A Fighter? (Part 4) WF+GF

"And you know I'd rip them. I have the butt already for it." He laughed.

Owen smiled when she said a brother and clapped. "Yay brother!"

"Oma was right!" He chuckled. "Oh lord help me. I'm already doomed with you. Now a daughter?!" I groan.

Jake walks over to the phone Adri has. "Oma you were right. I never doubted you. Adriana did. I did not. Cause I'm your favorite..." He teased. Owen ran up to send them a wave and say hi and blew kisses.

People wanted to come up and congratulate him but he changed quick to not get anything on anyone's clothes. Jake picked up Owen. "You're getting a brother and a sister buddy. Are you excited?" He looked confused at sister. Jake knew though Owen and Max both would not let a soul get close to their sister.

Jake came up and wrapped his arms around Adri. "I love you baby...are you happy?"

“We love you. Thank you for staying up.” She blew them kisses and said goodbye before hanging up the phone to enjoy the party.

Adri took in the congratulations and belly rubs from everybody until Jake got back. “I’m happy Boo.” She smiled. “I love you too.”

She changed into her white crocs now that the big stuff was done and she didn’t care what she looked like in the pictures. Her feet immediately thanked her for it.

“That baby girl is going to have you wrapped around her finger.” She told Jake.

Jake sat with her after he got back. Parties like this made him tired, he could only imagine Adri was getting tired too but he wasn't sure she'd admit that. He rubbed her belly a bit when they sat together. Anything she needed or wanted, he'd get for her.

When Adri mentioned their daughter having him wrapped around her finger, he grinned. "Just like her mama. I need to schedule more fights or more episodes cause you two are gonna make me go broke." He chuckled. It was a miracle she even got pregnant, let alone with twins and one being a girl. Jake was pretty happy.

Maria came over, "Congratulations you two. Or four." She giggled. "Do you have names picked out?" She whispered.

"I know we decided to stay with O names...." Jake told her. But didn't say anything else.

Adri smiled at Jake and laced her fingers with his, “We do have names. And they start with O.” She laughed.

Maria pouted a bit, “You’re not going to tell
me the names of my grandchildren?” She asked and put her hands on Adri’s belly. “That’s not fair. I’m your mother!”

Adri zipped her lips and threw away the key. “I’m not telling until they are born.”

“Everything is such a secret with you. I want to see the nursery.”

Adri nodded her head to that. “No shoes and no touching. Everything is clean and sanitized for them.” She said and walked her mom towards the house. Owen tan over to Adri and grabbed her hand. “You want to see it again?” She asked and knelt down to take his shoes off at the door and let him run in the house.

Adri took a minute to stand back up but she got on her feet and walked towards the nursery. She had to flick the lights on to show it off.

“Oh Adri it’s wonderful.” Her mother gasped and looked around.

“Thank you.” She smiled and stood by the door. She felt the shooting pain again and grabbed a crib to breathe it out.

“Adri!” Her mother rushed to her side and helped steady her.

“It’s fake. It’s fake. I swear it’s fake.” She told her. “Don’t freak out.”

“How many have you had?”

“Today? Like three. Last night, before the party and now.”

“That doesn’t sound fake babe.” She said and rubbed her back gently.

“We have two weeks. It’s not time.” Adri said softly.

“Well they’re running out of space in there. Your belly dropped. It’s time baby. I think it’s time to go home and get ready.”

It was feeling very real all of the sudden. She was terrified. “I don’t think I’m ready yet.” Her mother shushed her and rubbed her back until the contraction passed and helped her down the stairs. “You’re more than ready and entirely capable.”

Maria and Adri walked to Jake, Adri sat in her chair and looked at Jake. “I need you to call
My Doula and tell her to meet us at the house. We are going to say goodbye to the party and then go home and have some babies.” She said as calmly as could but she was going to be pushing two watermelons out of her and she was scared.

"She always is keeping things secret. We didn't share Owen for how long?" He chuckled and kissed her cheek. Jake watched her go inside with Owen and her mom. She was beautiful and he couldn't help but smile as he watched her backside.

Jake was sitting talking with their fathers and Nick when the girls came back out. He smiled at her when she sat down. Then she started talking about her doula. His smile faded and he started to get nervous. "Wait what!?! Right now?! Like today?!" He looked around at their parents and Nick.

Jake pointed to Owen and her mom nodded. "We got him covered. Between me and your parents. He's fine. We will keep you posted with who has him." He nodded at Maria and told her thank you.

He smiled at Adri. "Well okay. I'll call her. Then we are gonna have some babies." His eyes went wide but smiled. He gave her a kiss and called her doula. Jake got the information about the contractions to give to her doula. He then said bye to their guests and thanked them. They just told everyone she was tired.

While in the car, he held her hand. He drove fast but definitely safe. "Why didn't you tell me you were having pains babe?"

Adri looked at her mom when Jake asked if they were coming tonight. Maria shook her head, “It’s your first time. I doubt they’ll be that fast. Tomorrow I’m sure.” She told them both.

Adri said bye with Jake and thanked everyone for coming. She thanked her planner and the attendance that helped with everything. It was amazing. And they’d take it all down. She would be sure give them a big tip.

“I thought they were fake. I googled it and it’s common to have fake ones. and I wasn’t ready. Nerves, I guess. That was number three and they’re hours apart. We could have brought Owen home. This could take hours.” She told him.

It made Jake feel better it wasn't happening tonight. Hopefully Adri could get some rest that night before they decided to arrive. He wasn't sure he could sleep but maybe she could get some.

"Well I didn't know. But this way. We can take a second and think. Baby, do you want your mom there? I know a lot of women do. If you do, we can have her come and bring Owen, then dad can come and get or we can call the nanny so when we want him to meet them, he's there." They had a plan but now it was happening he wasn't sure what was going on.

"Do we need anything while I'm out before we get home? Shit, sorry I'm nervous..." He let out a breath and kissed her hand and smiled.

“I don’t know.” She said when he asked who should be at the house. Owen should be there to meet his siblings. Her parents, yes. His parents, complicated. “Owen. Our parents. The nanny.” She said softly.

“We have food at the house. I think we are good. There’s a load of laundry I want to wash before they come. More blankets and onesies.” She told him. She couldn’t think of needing anything else.

“Maybe a milkshake? Ben and Jerry’s Peanut butter half baked?” She smiled. “You can get it at 7/11. And hot fries.” She smiled bigger.

"Adge...I meant who do you want there while you're in labor. My parents can come later. But I understand during all of it, you want your mom. You even looked at her when I asked if they were coming tonight. She's been through this. We haven't and just because you're a married woman doesn't you still don't need and want your mom." He glanced at her. "If you do, call her, tell her to pack a bag and bring Owen. I'll call the nanny when we get home. Everyone else can arrive when we are ready. I want time with them just us for awhile."

Jake nodded. "I can handle that when we get home. Just let me know where the stuff is and I'll do it."

He couldn't help but chuckle. "Right...He looked for a place to get a milkshake and hot fries." He got himself one as well with a burger. Jake then stopped in at 7/11. He got multiple pints of ice cream for the two of them. He thought maybe he too would stress eat. He even grabbed some candy as well before checking out and heading back out to the car.

"Alright, let's get home mama and you get you comfortable." He leaned over and kissed her cheek. They headed back to the house. He pulled in the garage and got out carrying things in for her. "I'm going to eat then throw the laundry in."

“Let’s just be home alone for a bit? And if they come faster or I need her I will call her.“ She decided. They should enjoy the quiet house while they could. She would rest as much as possible and hopefully until the morning and then have the babies tomorrow. She could have them tomorrow.

“It’s in the laundry room. You have to use the scent free detergent. That’s all I have been using.“ She told him.

“Thank you.“ She held the bag when he handed it to her and looked inside To make sure he got everything.

“Okay. I’m going to take a shower. I’ll be down to eat in a bit.“ She kissed his cheek and went upstairs to shower. She had another contraction in the shower which meant they were coming closer together. She put the laundry in the washer, Jake could do the rest. She grabbed the towels she wanted to use for the birth. She looked in the spare bedroom where she would be for the birth and made sure she had everything set up and ready.

By the time she was done, Marissa was there to help her and check her to make sure this was real and how far along she was. She provided support for the both of them and answered the questions that she could. Adri hired a woman she felt comfortable with. Who was also a midwife and came highly qualifie. She also had a doctor on retainer if she needed her, but Adri did not want to go to a hospital.

The night was fairly easy. Adri tried to get as much rest as possible, but six, the contractions were coming faster and she couldn’t get comfortable for long. She liked pacing or leaning against a table and rocking. When she was in pain she needed the room to be quiet And she’d just breathe.

“Call my mom. Tell her to bring Owen. Did Nick stay at the new house?” She asked, during a moment of peace.

Jake felt like that was a good idea. "Yeah perfect. Whenever you need her, I'll call her. I'll text her to get a bag ready just in case." He told her.

When they got home and she showered, he ate quickly and checked in with everyone. So far, there's nothing to be worried about, but he was a bit nervous. He wanted it to go smoothly but Jake didn't think he could push one baby out let alone two without meds and he got beat up for a living.

When she put everything in the washer, he put the soap in and started it. Once those were done, he got them into the dryer and put some of his own stuff in the washer from his trip. He needed to stay busy too.

He slept the best he could but anytime Adri moved, he woke up afraid it was time. Or something was wrong. He also felt like if she was awake, he should too. He was there when she needed him to hold his hand or to rub her back. When she needed quiet, he gave it to her.

When she told him to call her mom he did and then called the nanny to come help with Owen. "Maria, hey...she needs you. Bring Owen, the nanny is on her way over. She is in the pool house." He hung up and called the nanny, he'd text her when Maria and Owen arrived. "Yeah, baby. Nick is at the new house. He's staying in the spare room. He said he could get a hotel room but I told him he may as well stay there. Just no parties."

Jake rubbed her back. "What can I do babe?"

“Ask Nick to put the baby shower housewarming presents in one of the spare rooms for me. Please? I don’t want them to stay where they are. And ask him to bring some food over. Fruit and those little sandwiches Owen liked.” They were running low on food and she didn’t want to buy more for this house when they’d be moving into the new house soon.

“I think that’s it.” Her face scrunched up and and squeezed his hands and breathed heavily.

“The photographer.” She remembered.

“Fuck this hurts.” She groaned and then laughed.

When her mother and Owen got to the house, she was sitting on the couch. Owen ran over looking for something and then asked for the baby.

“Mommy is having the baby. You’ll see them soon.” Adri explained and pointed to her belly.

“Come out!” He yelled at her belly and she laughed.

“I think that will help.” She agreed and rubbed his cheek.

With her mother there to help, Adri felt like things were moving faster. Contractions were faster. Time was moving faster. Pacing stopped helping, bouncing on the medicine ball helped a bit. Then it really started to hurt and it was time.

It was peaceful and chaotic all in one big ball. Her midwife was there to get her comfortable and ready to push how ever Adri wanted to. She wasn’t comfortable laying down to push. She didn’t want to sit or stand. She ended up in the bath with Jake on one side her mother on the other, both encouraging.

Owen was with Nick occupied downstairs with cartoons and all of his toys. Max stayed in the doorway and watched everything with concern in his big brown puppy eyes.

Eighteen hours after they left the baby shower, they had two healthy babies in their arms. A boy and a girl. A little small, but otherwise healthy and both with a crazy set of lungs. The photographer was there to watch capture every moment.

Exhausted was an understatement, but seeing her baby girl in her arms and baby boy on Jake’s made everything worth it. Both blonde like their older brother. When Oakley did open her eyes she saw blue. They were perfect little dolls.

She smiled at Jake with tears in her eyes. “I’m not doing that again.” She laughed and rubbed Oakley’s cheek with her thumb.

“Once I dry off we can show O.” She said softly.

Jake sent a text to Nick. "I'm sure they already moved the gifts babe but I'll make sure it's taken care of."

When Maria arrived, it was cute to see Owen with Adri and excited to see 'his babies.' Jake looked at Maria. "This is way different than when Owen was born. The major differences are she's my wife and there's two and we are at home. What do I do? How do I help? Is it better to be there next to her or stay out of the way? She's worried about dumb stuff right now like food and stuff." He chuckled. "But she's going with no pain meds, she's gonna start hating me soon." He looked horrified. Maria was always great with advice plus she knew Adri more than just about anyone. Jake trusted Maria more than his own mother.

Jake was right next to her in the bathroom while everything was happening. The photographer got pictures of even Nick and Owen playing as well as protective Max in the doorway. Jake couldn't help but worry about if that's where Owen's jealousy would come from, if Max was with the babies like he was with Owen.

Once they were born the midwife let Jake cut the cords and he couldn't help but tear up a bit. It was a proud moment for any father. He kissed Adri and smiled at her with pride. "You did so good baby. You are so incredible and strong. I couldn't do that." He shook his head. When he was given their son, he smiled and looked him over. "They look perfect. Just like you."

The midwife smiled at them, "Take your time. We can get you cleaned up and in bed..." She told Adri. Maria had cried of course. Jake watched Oliver who was not sure how he felt about being away from his sister. Jake leaned over and kissed Adri again. "We make cute babies babe...I love you and our little family."

“Just be there. She won’t remember what you did or said or didn’t do. Just hold her hand. And help her breathe. Your presence is enough.” Maria told him and rubbed his cheeks.

“We do.” She agreed and handed Oakley to her mother. He was so tired she could have slept in the pool. She definitely took her time getting out of the tub and then with her mother’s help taking a quick shower and changing into a cotton jersey dress.

Then she needed Jake’s help to get into the bed and prop the pillows up to get comfortable. It was according to plan, but Max was the first to meet his siblings. He didn’t jump his whole body on the bed but he did put his paws up and sniff at the babies and Adri. Once he was comfortable with the new smells he laid down on his bed and watched.

“Alright. Go get Owen, and Nick, so he can meet his babies.” She smiled and her swaddled up bundles. While Jake got Owen she sent her mother to get the present the twins got their big brother to help with any jealousy that could be had. It was a new Bluey book and play set since he was still obsessed.

Jake appreciated Maria's advice. He wanted Adri to be as comfortable as possible. Whatever he needed to do, he would to make sure that happened during and after the births.

As Adri showered he got their bedroom ready. They already had little bassinets in there. When she came out, he got her comfortable and watched Max. Max was such a good boy. "Baby...I think this is where the jealous comes in....we didn't think this through..." He pointed to Max. "Owen has had him with him from day one..."

Before going down to get Owen, Jake kissed Adri. When they got married he never thought he could love that girl any more but after seeing her give birth and hold their babies, he did.

Jake found Owen. "Hey buddy. They are here. Do you want to go meet your new brother and sister?!"

"My babies!" He clapped and ran to the stairs.

"You gotta remember they are little okay. And be gentle." Jake held his hand as they got up the steps and headed to the bedroom.

Owen walked in slow and hesitantly but smiling. "Babies! My babies." He walked in to the bed and peaked up at them. He was quiet. When Owen walked in, Max lifted his head but put it down when he saw who it was.

“Max was concerned, so he stayed with me. He is my dog. I just loaned him to Owen. When the babies keep crying tonight, I’m sure he will move to Owen’s room.” She told him.

“Coke on up Buddy.” Adri said, she already made a space for him on the bed. “This is Oliver your brother and Oakley your sister.” She smiled.

Owen stared and pointed at them for a bit. He crawled closer and gently touched Oakley’s head.

“You want to hold her?” Adri asked him. “Remember how we were practicing with the baby doll? You have to sit down with pillows around you.” She said and while Owen sat she passed Oliver to Jake. Owen held his arms out and Adri placed his sister in his arms.

“She’s heavy.” Owen said and Adri nodded.

“Yeah she’s heavier than the doll.” She rubbed his hair and kissed his forehead. She let him hold her for as long as he wanted too. When it looked like his arms were getting tired she tried to take her back but he held her tighter, so Adri just readjusted the pillows.

“My baby.” Owen kept saying.

“They got you a present love.” She said and pointed to a bag in the corner. that got his attention and Adri couldn’t take the baby back fast enough. He scrambled off the bed and ripped into the bag and pulled out his play set.

“They like Bluey?” He asked surprised. And showed Jake his new toy.

Jake was skeptical about Max going to Owen's room. He was definitely the protector of the house and he did his job well. He was a good boy that would be hard when he was longer with them.

He helped Owen up on the bed and got him settled with the pillows so he could hold Oakley. Jake took Oliver and held him with just one arm. He was so tiny in his daddy's big arms.

It was cute to see Owen with his little sister. He already loved her so much and was protective of her. The photographer was still there to catch it all.

When he opened his gift, Jake's eyes went wide. "Woah! So cool buddy. I'm sure when they are a bit bigger they will watch with you." Jake smiled at Adri.

"Do you want to hold your little brother now? I think Ollie feels a little left out..." Jake told Owen.

Adri watched Owen look at his toy and look at his brother and he raised his toy again, “I play.” He held up his toy to Jake and Adri laughed from the bed.

“He can hold Ollie first next time.” Adri said softly and yawned.

The midwife came into the bedroom and took her gloves off. “Everything is cleaned up in there. We are keeping the cords, are we keeping the placenta?” Adri shook her head to that. She wasn’t doing anything with that.

“Do you want it?” She asked Jake. “You can mix it in your protein powder.” She gagged a bit at the thought.

“I need a nap.” She set Oakley in the bassinet by the bed and shifted on the bed. Her mother picked Oakley up to get her cuddles in.

“Maybe when I wake up, we can call dad and your parents and Amy and Luke? Unless Oma and Opa are awake then we call them so they can see them. Wake me up if they cry or anything.” She said softly. She knew they would go down stairs with Jake and her mother.

Jake raised an eye brow and showed a grossed out face. "I don't want it." He about threw up thinking about it. "I love you, but that's gross."

Jake gave her a quick kiss. "Get some sleep babe. We will be in the living room. Holler if you need anything." He moved his hand over her head and smiled.

He still had Oliver so he carried him to the living room. Nick had left so their families would meet the babies first. The nanny was there though to help with Owen. Jake sat in his chair with Oliver and his shirt off to get some skin time. Maria and he switched off with the babies so both got some time with the other.

Everyone seemed to be in love and just taking them both in. Owen even came over a few times to see them then go back to playing.

Adri slept hard for a few hours. Max kept watch from the ground. He seemed torn if he should go downstairs or stay with Adri, but he didn’t move from his spot. She wouldn’t have woken up if she didn’t hear the baby cry in the distance. She was a little groggy, but she managed to get up. She used the bathroom as fast as she could and then wobbled down the stairs to the babies.

Owen ran over to her and she got on her knees to meet him eye to eye. “Can I have a hug?” She asked him and held her arms out. “Gentle.” She said softly but when he came into her arms she gave him a tight squeeze. “I love you.” She kissed his neck and cheeks and squeezed him tight before letting him go.

She stood up slowly and then sat on the loveseat. “Hungry?” She asked and held her hand out for Oliver first. He latched on quickly and her second greatest fear was undone when he started to eat. She smiled at Jake. She was doing it. No formula. Unless they had too. When he was done she fed Oakley and burped her while Jake burped Oliver.

“Are you going to stay here mom?” Adri asked.

Maria nodded her head, “I’ll be here. Your father is bringing some more clothes. Don’t worry about anything.” She rubbed Adri’s head and kissed her cheek.

Adri looked at Jake, “Will you call the family?” She asked.

Jake watched Adri and Owen. She was making an effort to make sure he felt loved and included. He really hit the jackpot with her and was grateful for her. He smiled at her.

When she sat down he chuckled and nodded. "Oh you met them..." He smiled. "They've gotten a little fussy yeah." Once they were both burped and fed, he looked at her a moment and snuggled with the baby he was holding. "Do I have to? That means I won't get them for hours...." He sighed and pouted again.

He called the family though. He told her dad, his parents, Amy and Luke they could come over to meet the babies. "Half hour babe and they will be here. Expect dad to cry. Especially when he holds them."

"Hey...Owen got a hug and kiss. I helped make them. Where's my love?!"

He was right, within about thirty minutes the family started to arrive with her dad being first then Jake's parents. Amy had a baby to get around herself so she wasn't as fast.

“Remember that at like two in the morning when they’re screaming their heads off.” She joked.

“Your love got me into this mess.” She reminded him, but got up to give him a hug and a kiss.

When the family came it was almost a fight to see who got to hold which baby first. They were fed and burped, so they should be content for a bit. She was a little anxious about his mother holding them, but there were so many people there was no way anything could happen. Everyone wanted some baby love.

That was when Owen got jealous. Both of his grandfathers were holding babies and no one was paying attention to him. He acted out more than he threw a fit. But when he got reprimanded for acting out, he threw his fit.

“Did he get a nap today?” She asked Jake. She called Owen over to her and let him climb on her lap.

“It’s a big day today.” She said gently and rubbed his back. “You can’t throw things though. And you can’t scream when you don’t get your way.” She kept rubbing his back.

“Papa John will play with you when he’s done meeting the babies. I promise. And Papa Rick too.” She kissed his cheek and set him down. “Go to your grandma.” She said and pointed to her mother. Maria was on the floor ready to play with him.

"They are yours at 2am." He teased and chuckled. When she said his love got them into that mess. He grinned and laughed a mischievous laugh. "Yes it did. And my chromosomes also gave you your daughter." He told her and hugged her back and gave her a kiss. "Daddy can be jealous too."

When Owen started acting up, Jake was about ready to smack his butt. "He slept like an hour while you napped." Owen climbed down and ran to Maria and hugged her. He snuggled to her. It was a big day for him and he was going to need a little time to adjust.

When Jake's mom held the twins, Jake felt uncomfortable but she did fine just holding them. They didn't really fuss with anyone. Jake moved to sit next Adri. He wasn't sure why he was uncomfortable, she wouldn't drop them, she knew how to hold them. But he still never wanted her alone with any of the kids. Amy felt the same way with their son.

Nick snuck back while the family was there. Oakley seemed to get more attention being the girl so Nick went for Oliver so he didn't feel left out.

“How’s the new house Nick? You’re the first person to sleep in it.” Adri laughed. “I’m sorry you got kicked out last night. You’re welcome to stay here tonight if you want. It won’t be quiet, but you’ll have company.” She offered.

Owen walked over to Nick and and climbed on the couch and looked at Oliver for a little bit. He showed Nick his new toy that the baby gave him and then he went off to play again. He seemed to forget about his meltdown, which made Adri happy.

She put her head on Jake’s shoulder and relaxed a bit. Oakley was with John. Oliver with Nick. Owen was content with Adri’s parents. Christmas would be chaotic, she realized.

Then she thought of her wedding dress and makeup line release date. The babies were out. Her body was mostly her own. She’d give herself a few weeks, but she’d be back in the gym toning up again.

"It was great. Your husband threatened to beat me to a pulp if I threw a party so it was just me." He chuckled. "But it was nice. I worked out and relaxed. The gym is great Jake. Ill stay to help with Owen. It would be my pleasure."

"Yeah you got to use that before me too." Jake chuckled.

He rubbed Adri's leg and kissed her head. "Doing okay?" He whispered to her. Yes she had a nap but also just gave birth not that long ago and it takes a lot out of someone.

John was in love with his new grandkids. "How did you guys pick the names?"
