Is He A Lover or A Fighter? (Part 4) WF+GF

He chuckled and shrugged. "You love me."

Jake went down and grabbed some grapes. Owen wanted a few so he stayed busy with those while Jake tried out his experiment. He carefully got them to rest on her stomach and then after a minute or two, one of the babies moved as if they punched it right off. Jake thought it was so funny and moved it over just slightly in different spots. It may take a moment but they seemed to always find the spot.

"What do you mean I'm not going to be able to touch you?" He asked confused. "Like sexually?" He asked quietly. "Babe I don't care about what you eat..."

Jake grabbed a bit to eat as well and even shared with Owen. He was doing pretty well but was starting to get bored. They've been away from home for awhile. "He's probably missing his four legged siblings..."

“I’ll be sore Jake. That’s why you’re not touching me. Unless you’re rubbing my feet or back.” She laughed.

“Probably. I’ll text dad and see if they’re home. Maybe do a quick FaceTime.” She rubbed Owen’s arm. “At least we know he won’t get bored when he has siblings.” She smiled.

He was getting used to having kids around thanks to daycare. He was a big help with Amy and Luke’s son when they went to visit them. He was going to be a big help with the twins.

“Are you alright? How’s your head?” She asked him.

"You didn't elaborate what you meant..." He nudged her. "I'm not rubbing either." He teased.

Jake shook his head. "They are kids. They will always be bored. We could be at Disney and one will whine they are hungry, another tired, another bored. It's life. We could buy them every single toy ever made and they'd be bored..." He did think seeing Max and the girls would help. Jake still wanted a dog but waiting until they were moved and babies were born and into a routine made way more sense. He was keeping an eye out for one of his own though.

"Yeah I'm okay. It isn't really hurting much. The nap helped. I really want to take the guaze off and leave it off. Do you think letting it off would hurt anything?"

“The doctor said to keep it clean. We can let it breathe a bit but I’d put a bandaid on it. It’s a deep wound. But if you want to take it off you can. Just not while we are eating.” She smiled and stole some of his mashed potatoes.

Owen was happy with what he was given. Even happier to be in Jake’s lap while he ate. He was usually in his own chair but they downsized the dining table to six seats.

Liam and Janice were able to get two rooms at the hotel down the street. So they would be close if they were needed. And making the best of it. It wasn’t the European vacation they were hoping for but they were still in a beautiful location.

“Do you think we can give Liam and Janice some time off tomorrow? Enjoy the sights?” She asked Jake quietly. “We don’t need them for the picnic. You can manage him, I think.”

"I wouldn't do it while we eat." He stared at her when she stole his mashed potatoes. "Babe...that's my food. Get more if you want more. I have Owen and you eating my food..." He shook his head.

Jake was just happy they were both eating and it was darn good food. Owen loved Oma's cooking and ate the best he had in a long time.

"I could maybe use Janice for a few hours in the morning but then yeah. They can take the rest of the day off. Opa, Owen and I are gonna be busy before our photo shoot. I could use her for just a bit before the shoot while I'm getting everything ready." He told Adri. "Is that okay?"

“We will keep them both for the morning then. And then free for the rest of the day.” She agreed.

“What are you getting ready? I thought we were taking pictures in a castle. That should be picturesque enough right? Which castle? Rheinstein over liking the river?” She asked. She only guessed it was that one because that was the prettiest in the area and had some of the best views.

“What time should I meet you guys there or are you coming back for me?” She asked.

"I am getting things ready for you for the pictures. I told you I was handling everything you need..." He grinned. "You hate you are not in the know or in control of what's going on. It's kinda cute."

Jake sucked at lying so he didn't even try. He took a drink when she guessed the castle and shrugged. "You'll find out tomorrow. You will get all your information tomorrow. You will be picked up and taken to the castle."

"This is fun. Not going to lie." But truth was inside he was freaking out, wanting every detail to be perfect.

“Fine. Fine. Fine. Fine.” She said even though she didn’t want to let it go. “I’m just saying pictures are my whole career. I know pictures and photo shoots and…fine!” She rolled her eyes and finished her food. So she could get dessert.

“I’m glad you’re having fun.” She grumbled. “Owen do you know what’s happening tomorrow?” She asked him. “Tell mommy what’s happening tomorrow.” She said sweetly and kissed his cheeks but he told her about a Bluey episode instead.

“My parents are home by the way. We can call them after our walk. Find out how Drew and Stacey are doing.”

Jake glanced over at Opa who was just smiling. Jake wouldn't have told Owen anything cause he would tell. It's surprising he hasn't told the world mommy has two babies in her. "Babe...these pictures are more for fun than anything. But it will feel a lot like you do with work...." He had her team coming back for make up and hair. She would be given clothes to wear.

He nodded to calling her parents. "That sounds good. I've been thinking about Drew and Stacey. As well as your parents. That's horrible for them too. Does your mom seem to be doing okay? I'm sure she's starting to miss Owen."

"Do they know we bought a house? Dad knows. He is willing to help us move."

“Maybe dessert when we get back too. I think my eyes were too big for my stomach. Or these two just grew and took up more space.” She sighed.

“I don’t know if it’s hit her yet. And it probably won’t until the funeral, if they plan on having one.” She said softly. She couldn’t imagine how tiny that casket would be. She didn’t want to think about it either. That was too much for her. She remembered how tiny Owen was though. She felt a kick and rubbed the spot.

She shook her head to them learning about the house, “No. but I think it would be a good distraction if they need one. We can tell them tonight.” She told him.

“Let’s go for a walk. I need to move.” She picked up her dishes and any empty plates. “Don’t do the dishes. We will do them when we get back.” She told them. “We are going for a walk. It won’t be long. We just want to get the last bit of energy out of this one.” She kissed both of her grandparents and grabbed the house keys.

When Adri talked about her mom and it not hitting her yet. He nodded and leaned over to kiss her temple. Jake couldn't imagine what the entire family was going through. Too many people and families went through it. It made him want to donate money to help families like Drew and Stacey.

"I also don't want to be insensitive either. I don't want them to think we are downplaying what they are going through..." Jake started to second guess whether the wedding after everything was the right move. He glanced at her grandparents.

Jake got Owen's shoes on and a little jacket. "Do you want to go for a walk bud? Are you going to hold my hand? Or are you gonna run around?" He put his dishes in the sink as well and smiled at her grandparents. "Thanks for dinner Oma. It's was so good..."

Jake grabbed Owen's hand as they headed out. "Which way O?" Owen always liked deciding where they walked.

Adri wrapped her arm around Jake’s waist. “Are you falling in love? Do you want to move to a little cottage with a castle in the backyard?” She asked with a smile. “We should come back for Christmas. They have a huge Christmastown shop and trees and lights it’s beautiful.” She told him. She guided them towards a plaza since the time was hitting the hour soon.

When it hit seven there were bells and a building came to life with a cuckoo clock sort of performance in the top steeple. She had to keep pointing up to get Owen to watch it. He clapped and pointed at it too.

“Ice cream?” She asked Jake and pointed to a small market shop. “Spaghetti Ice. Thin and delicious strings of ice cream. It’s so creamy. We can split it.”

"With what? A castle? No. Germany? Eh it's a nice place. It's definitely pretty, and different than home." He wrapped his arm around her. "I would definitely visit again. Coming at Christmas would be fun. We should decide what we are doing for Christmas having three kids..."

Jake watched Owen and Adri. It was cool she could share such things with him. He was able to learn multiple customs and heritages and he liked that for him. Their kids knowing their backgrounds were important to him.

"Yeah I could eat ice cream. He could too. It is just shaped like Spaghetti right? But really ice cream?" He asked as they headed to the ice cream shop. "What would Owen like?" He asked her and kissed her shoulder. It was crazy to him that this time the next day, they could be married.

“We are staying home for Christmas.” She laughed. “They’ll only be what…four months. No way I’m traveling with them to a new country that little.” She shook her head. “I barely wanted to leave the state when he was tiny.”

She nodded her head, “Pretty much. He and I can share though.” She told him and looked at the menu. “Do you want chocolate?” She asked Owen. He rarely got sweets, but he did enjoy the chocolate cake pop at Starbucks so that was the safest bet.

“What do you want Jake?” She asked and when she had his order, she told the clerk. She got a chocolate and banana plate for her and Owen to share. And two spoons so he could get his own.

“I was thinking since Janice and Liam are here, maybe we can get a hotel for a night and day and have some alone time? Explore the city or stay in the room? How does that sound?”

"Oh thank God. Christmas in Denver was awesome but transporting all those toys for three kids would be crazy. It would be nice to spend our first Christmas at our new house." He agreed and kissed her cheek.

He looked at the flavors. "Ummm let's do peanut butter?" He told her and rubbed her back as she ordered and kept and eye on Owen. After a minute he made him hold his hand as it got busier.

They found a place to sit down so Owen and Adri could share and enjoy the ice cream without making it harder by walking. "That would definitely be nice babe. You're not gonna spend the whole time sleeping are you?" He asked and grinned. "I want to get home so we can take a soak in that new tub of ours. You and me together." He wiggled his eyebrows, "Ow fuck." He touched his stitches. "That was dumb note to self don't wiggle the brows. Ow..." He groaned a little as he ate his ice cream. He ate it slow to not get a brain freeze.

Owen liked the chocolate. "Mmm." He'd say as he took bites.

Adri laughed at him, “Nice mouth.” She said and looked at Owen. “I might sleep for a bit. Especially if we get the king sized bed and ask for more pillows. That queen or full in my grandparents spare bedroom is not comfortable. And sharing with your hot body isn’t as fun as it used to be.” She told him.

“We are probably operating at the same pace with that head injury of yours. No rigorous activity, remember?” She stuck her tongue out but leaned forward to kiss him.

“We should probably head back.” She said as they finished their ice cream. It was nice to be out and left alone like normal people but it was getting busy with night life, so their luck was running out. “And it’s almost bedtime for someone. If he lets us put him to bed. Maybe you can take a shower with him. Warm water seems to knock him out.”

"Sorry. It hurt!" He chuckled. "I figured you'd want to sleep. Normally I'd say I'd go to the gym but I'm sure that's out..." He sighed. "A walk on the treadmill isn't off limits right?" He asked her. "I'm sorry. I can't help it. And I can't sleep naked here to help keep the heat down. I get hot too."

He sighed. "I think that would be allowable...we don't have to go like we did when we made them..." Jake grinned at the thought. "Speaking of Christmas..." Jake kissed her back with a smile.

"Let's go O. Ready to go back? Want to see Oma and Opa?" Owen got excited and was ready to go. "May not be smart with the stitches. I can't get them wet. Can we let him shower with some toys? I can keep an eye on him. Or can we cover the stitches so they stay dry?"

Jake held Owen's hand a bit as they walked and Adri's but after awhile, Owen wanted Jake to carry so he picked him up.

“We are not making more next Christmas.” She told him. “I thought I’d get that out of the way right now. Just in case your super swimmers have any wild ideas.” She laughed.

“Just don’t wash your face in the shower. You’ll be fine. And take the bandage off. We can replace it with a bandaid. Did you get your meds today?” She asked him.

Adri opened the door when they got back and let Jake and Owen in. Owen was fighting his sleep. They were supposed to call her parents but if he was settling down, she didn’t want to pump him up. They could call in the afternoon.

“Maybe no shower. Just change him and get him down.” She rubbed Jake’s back and kissed Owen’s cheek. “And wash his face. He tastes like chocolate.” She patted Jake’s butt and sent him off.

"No no. We don't need four or five under five." He looked at her with pure horror on his face. "We may want to discuss if you want back on birth control or if I need to wear protection after they are born. I'm down with waiting a while before having more."

"I've taken the antibiotics so it doesn't get infected and then the pain when I got up. Nothing since then though. I'm okay. It's not too bad." He told her and nodded about putting a bandaid over it.

He gave a nod. "Okay. I'll get him down. Sit. Relax. I'll get the dishes when I get him down." He told her and gave her a cheek a kiss.

Jake took Owen upstairs to get cleaned up and changed for bed. It didn't take long of Jake laying with him and watching Bluey before Owen was out. He got him tucked in and turned the monitors on and headed down stairs.

Jake went into the kitchen to clean up the dishes. He motioned for Opa to come to the kitchen. Once he was there he had him get ordained on Jake's phone while Oma and Adri chatted.

“Just making sure we are on the same page.” She told him. As much as she enjoyed being pregnant and feeling them move around. There were downsides. And she didn’t know if she wanted a bunch of kids. She would have been happy with one and now she was getting two. They could chill out for a bit.

Oma and Adri talked about the babies. Her mother finally called and gave them the bad news about Drew, so they spoke about them as well.

Adri was tired from their big day so she went into the kitchen and gave the men a kiss good night. She wasn’t paying attention enough to see what they were doing. She just saw her grandfather with his reading glasses and assumed he was reading up on Jake.

She then walked upstairs with her grandmother. Adri took a quick shower and washed the make up off before getting into bed. She could be comfortable for a little bit before Jake joined her and took over half of the bed.

Jake gave Adri a kiss good night. "I owe you a back rub later. Get some rest babe." He smiled at her. Jake wanted her to get her rest cause the following day was going to be a bit of a big one for her.

When she was upstairs and Opa was finally ordained, he looked at the older man. "What advice do you have? Anything you wish you knew when you got married that you found out later?" He asked him.

"Were you nervous? I'm more nervous about tomorrow than I was the fight..." He chuckled. "Not about marrying her. But it being perfect. She deserves the best day...nothing short of it..."

“Just take it day by day. And remember this feeling when times are hard. Remember how anxious and excited you were to be married. Don’t let that feeling die.” He offered Jake.

“nothing is ever perfect. We can shoot for it but we have to roll with the punches. You’re a good boy. We will work it out together.” He smiled and got up from the table. He patted Jake’s cheek and helped him put the dishes away.

“Are you sure want in this family? so many names. And then they have babies and I have to learn more names. All A names Maria said. My god. I do I keep them straight? All A names four boys. Then we finally get out girl and I still call her Alex or Andrew.” He shook his head.

“I love what my family has become. Such good and love in all of them. I am lucky. You will feel the same way one day.”

Jake smiled while he gave advice and he nodded. It was good advice and he had been married so long, he was more experienced than anyone he knew. His dad couldn't offer much considering it didn't work the first time with his mom. That whole thing was a mess and Jake didn't have much to learn from. Maybe more of what not to do.

"It did take me some time to learn everyone's names." He chuckled. "I think Adri wants to follow what her mom did and stick with O names." He made a face. "At least with O names we narrowed it down a bit for you." He chuckled.

Jake smiled. "I'm very blessed. Your family has accepted me and Owen as their own. I couldn't find a better family to become part of. Owen couldn't have gotten any luckier to be loved and accepted. Not just by your family but especially Adri. I think now that she's pregnant she's appreciating a bit that she didn't have to carry Owen herself." He chuckled a little. "But in every other sense she is his mother. And if we didn't get to this point when things were tough before, she'd still be his mother. I couldn't take the only family he's ever had from him. Luckily I don't have to even think about that. But damn...if I didn't love that girl before. The minute she melted holding him...She was finished because him. I was finished cause of her." He chuckled.

After they would get married, her grandfather would have to fill out paperwork for their documents to make sure Nevada saw their marriage as legal. They discussed a few details as Jake had a small drink to help the nerves.

Jake told her grandfather good night before heading up to bed. Once he was ready, he climbed in bed next to Adri and watched her sleep a moment with a smile before drifting off himself.

When Jake got in the bed, Adri felt him but didn’t wake up. She managed to sleep through most of the night quiet peacefully. And for a change of pace when she woke up, she was wrapped around Jake. Her belly was pushing into his side and her hand was on his stomach. She rubbed his abs gently and rolled over to her back and sat up for a moment. She kicked her legs over the side of the bed and went downstairs.

“You’re up early.” She told her grandfather and sat next to him on the couch. “You okay?” She asked softly.

He nodded and put his arm around her shoulders and kissed her temple. They had a nice conversation about family and his love of Jake. Everyone seemed to love and take to Jake. She was happy she brought a good man home.

They did have one thing to discuss and that was the coat. It was his grandmother’s coat that was worn in every wedding photo and since Adri was getting married eventually, it was hers now. It was a beautiful white fox fur coat with a silk lining. There was a lot of history and if the previous wearers knew it would be on a black woman they would have burned it a long time ago.

She had to get it cleaned professionally and taken care of, but she was happy to have it. The last time it was worn was in the eighties for her mother’s wedding. That was a main reason why she wanted a wedding late in the year. That coat in summer would be awful, especially in Vegas. She took it upstairs and hung it up on the door where little fingers couldn’t even touch the garment bag it was in.

Owen was up and trying to open his door so she let him out and took him to the bedroom to help wake up daddy. She couldn’t toss him in the bed but she pushed his his butt up as he climbed and got him up there.

Jake felt Adri get up but didn't really wake up. He had gotten to bed later and was still tired. But when Owen was climbing on the bed, he woke up and smiled a little with his eyes still closed. When he got close enough to him, he grabbed Owen and roll him over onto the bed and tickled him and attacked him with kisses in a way he wouldn't get hit in the head.

"Good Morning Owen. Did you sleep well?" He asked him as he finally gave him a hug. Jake looked at Adri. "Hi baby. Good morning." He moved over and patted the bed for her to sit down. "I'll help you back up."

Jake smiled at Adri and sat up. His hand rested on her cheek and he kissed her slow and deeply. "Is Oma up? Or can I beat her to breakfast? I'd like to cook for them. If they would be okay with it. Then after breakfast. I could have Janice watch O for a bit while I go somewhere with Opa and Liam. I need another set of hands."
