Is He A Lover or A Fighter? (Part 4) WF+GF

“Probably protect them all. That’s very Max like.” She laughed. “Are you getting your puppy?” She asked. “I don’t know how Max will feel about that. Or Bam and Rocky. Rocky’s heart might break if you get a new favorite dog.”

She smiled at him, “I promise we will have dates. Even if our dates are taking a nap while someone else watches the kids. Or hiding in the bathroom and eating a cookie alone together. That’s a good date idea.” She joked.

“We can go on a babymoon. We kind of have to. Our Germany trip this summer can be our baby moon.” She squeezed his hand gently.

“I know it’s a long shot, but if he gives you the choice. It would be nice to do a fight in Germany. We can invite the grandparents. I think my grandfather would be over the moon with watching that.”

"I don't know. I have some feelers out to some breeders for that special breed I want. But then I feel a little guilty not adopting but I want a dog I know I can workout and run with. We have Max the protector, the girls who cuddle. But I did have one breeder interested in us coming and seeing their facility but it's in Northern California." He explained.

Jake looked at Adri. "Those are dates you'd take right now. Those benefit you..." He did appreciate that she'd make an effort though. It meant a lot.

He was confused. "A baby what?! What's a babymoon?! And what's the purpose of it? We don't get a honeymoon?! Please tell me we still get a honeymoon." That was a nice idea for him to actually fight in Germany. "I'm not sure all the locations yet. But I'll see what I can do. Will he travel at all? Anywhere?"

“We will go on real dates too.” She promised with a yawn.

“It’s a trip you go on before the baby gets here. We would go somewhere as a family.” She told him. “It’s to mark the end of one and the beginning of another. So the end of it being the three of us and the beginning of it being the five of us.” She smiled. “It will be nice.”

She rolled her eyes and nodded her head, “Yes. You get a honeymoon but it’s obviously going to be a bit late. I’d like to drink and enjoy the honeymoon. I won’t be able to drink and enjoy it if I’m pumping and thinking about the babies. We can honeymoon in January. By then they will be four months, I should be able to leave them for a little while then.” She told him.

“The last fight in Germany was in Cologne. That’s only two hours away. I can drive him or hire a driver to come watch. He would love to watch. He used to be a boxer and fight for fun. He’ll tell you all about it.” She told him.

"Yeah that's Germany. A family vacation. Plus a good one. Nice far trip. Owen will like it. I'm excited myself." He smiled at her. "I can't wait to meet your grandparents."

"January is perfect. Perfect get somewhere nice after the holidays and just relax a bit. I'm good with that. I'm in charge of booking it so I want to make sure it's a good one." He smiled at her.

Jake looked at her a moment. "We should go to a concert. Who would we see? Have we gone to a concert? Besides like Nick..."

“Take us where ever you want.” Adri told him. It was the one thing he wanted for the wedding and she was letting him have complete control. “January or February. I don’t know how I’m going to feel about leaving them. But you will get your honeymoon.” She promised.

“I don’t know who is touring right now.” She yawned. “Find out who is coming here and we can go. Adele would be nice to see. Chris Stapleton. Beyoncé. I don’t mind.” She closed her eyes and turned toward him. She was still awake for now but sleep was coming.

“You can always take Nick. Hang out with him. It’s not like you’ll get the chance to have this much Nick again.” She reminded him. Since they were living in LA right now and he could call Nick to hang out. Unlike when they were in Vegas and calling Nick to hang out required a flight for the weekend.

"It will be hard to leave them. Especially the first main trip. But we have FaceTime and I trust our parents. Just expect warm and tropical. I'm going to see you in a bikini not a parka." He smiled at her.

Jake looked at her. Adele and Beyonce wasn't really his scene. "I could to Chris Stapleton." He told her. "No I meant our last concert would have been probably seeing Nick perform somewhere. I just don't think that's something we've really done as a couple. Is that something we should wait to do after the babies are born? I don't want you getting bumped or anything."

Adri had a point though about spending as much time as he could with Nick. Living in different cities made it hard to hang out. Honestly, Jake would miss everyone on set for the show. He had come be friends with a lot of them. "You should come to set this week..."

“By then I should look good in a bikini.” She prayed. With a lot of lotion and oil to keep the stretch marks at bay and working out once they were out she could get her body back. Maybe a little niptuck and a boob job if they totally destroy those. She’d be ready for a bikini.

“I don’t think we have been to a concert. The only time we go to the arena is to watch you fight. I went to a show on the Strip but that was with Amy, I think.” She shrugged her shoulder. “We can go to a concert. Figure out who you want to go see and I’ll go with you.” She said softly.

She opened her eyes at that and looked at him. “I’d rather not be pointed and whispered about right now. Let’s just wait a few days for the scandal to die down. This is LA. We won’t be front page forever.”

"I'm sure you'll have no issues looking good in a bikini by then. I doubt you'd ever not look hot in a bikini."Jake thought about it a moment. "Do you think you'll get some pregnancy jobs?" Some celebrities have done that and been successful with it. And if anyone could be successful, it would be Adri.

"That's what I was thinking. That we haven't been to one. I'd definitely like to see Chris Stapleton. We do like different music though so that may be why we haven't gone." Jake would have better luck finding plenty of artists to go see with Luke or Nick. But they did have some similar artists they liked.

Jake nodded. "I just thought maybe, it would show a united front for us. But I understand." He looked her over a moment. "Go ahead and get some rest." He said softly. "I may throw on a show or something if you don't mind. I'll keep it on low."

Adri shrugged her shoulder, “I don’t know. I could if I wanted them. I’m not sure what I want to do.” She said honestly. “I want to focus on building my brand. Modeling won’t last forever. Hopefully it lasts a long time. But I need to branch out. I have a meeting tomorrow with a potential co-owner for a make up brand. If things go well I could spend the pregnancy prepping for three babies.” She smiled.

“It’s very soon.” She said softly. “Too soon.” She would make it to set and watch him act. Probably bring Owen so they could both watch daddy work.

She raised her eyebrows in approval and fell asleep in no time. One of the great benefits of being pregnant was how quickly she fell asleep now. It seemed like all she had to do was close her eyes and she was down.

"That makes sense. But even if jobs aren't as available down the road, having the brand will be helpful." Jake had a new idea for something he wanted to potentially do that had nothing to do with fighting. But was something a lot of celebrities were getting into.

Jake nodded. "Okay. It's not a problem. I do know what we wrap my scenes up the cast and crew want to have a party. I'm also contracted in to potentially come back for guest appearances if it fits my schedule."

He put on a show and watched a bit before grabbing his phone. He pulled up his social media and figured he should and could address a bit of the situation. "First and foremost, if any of my fans were the trolls threatening and saying nasty things about my fiance and woman who's raising my son, you can just unfollow me now and find a new fighter to root for. Adriana is a person and until you can walk through life completely perfect you have no business judging her. Second, it was in the past and something we are working through...together. We are still parenting together. We are still engaged. We love each other very much. The rest is our business and I request your respect and privacy at this time."

After awhile, he shut the tv off and moved to get comfortable before falling asleep.

Adri was downstairs the next morning when Jake came down. She was talking to someone but he wouldn’t be able to make sense of the words or see who until he came into the kitchen and saw her sitting on the counter with a man between her legs.

“I’m surprised he believed it.” She said as they laughed and kissed each other. When the kiss broke she looked up and saw Jake standing in the doorway.

The man turned around and laughed at him. First he was the guy who cleaned their pool, then, he shifted to Liam, Luke and Nick. All laughing at Jake. Owen ran into the kitchen, through Jake’s legs yelling Daddy, Daddy, Daddy until the man shifted back Chris, the model she kissed, who picked Owen up and tossed him in the air.

“Don’t we make a beautiful family?” He asked and hugged Adri to his side. “Don’t worry man. I’m just giving her a life she deserves.” He said cockily and kissed Adri’s temple.

“Jake you need to wake up.” Adri told him in the dream and in real life.

“Jake. Jake!” Adri poked his shoulder but this time she was off the bed and ready for any sudden movement he may make. “You were having a bad dream.” She told him. She knew she wasn’t supposed to wake him up, but she couldn’t let him keep tossing and turning.

Jake in his dream grew angrier and more hurt. What really killed him was when Owen called the other guy Daddy.

It was a good thing Adri did wake him up. He jolted awake but didn't get violent. His eyes shifted around the room. That dream felt too damn real to him and it scared the shit out of him. He sat up and tried to catch his breath.

After he woke up a moment, he got up to go to the bathroom, turning the water on cold and splashing his face. His eyes shifted up to himself in the mirror. All those insecurities came flooding right back. He felt like a fool again and wondered if he was enough. His head hung a little and shook his head. It was frustrating how this was effecting him.

Adri stood against the wall when he got up and went to the bathroom. She had this gut wrenching feeling that she made his nightmares come back. She rubbed her stomach and followed him to the bathroom.

She rubbed his back and put her head on his shoulder. “Can I do anything to make you feel better?” She asked.

She could see his outline and knew his head was down. “Do you want some water? Whiskey? A banana?” She asked. “We can watch TV.” She offered. Anything to get him out of whatever post nightmare haze he was in and get him back to stable ground.

Jake couldn't say anything for a moment. He was still processing it all. "It felt so fucking real..." He whispered and then splashed more water on his face.

Truth was, Jake didn't know what to do to help it. The nightmares had been better but this...was new and different. It was hard to shake off for different reasons.

Part of him wanted to say he'd take the whiskey but he didn't want to get dependant on that. But he needed to do something cause the images and the words rang out in his head still. Then he realized, those pictures of Adri and the model wouldn't ever truly go away...

"I don't know...I don't know what will help." He said softly.

“Okay.” She said softly when he said he didn’t know what would help. She kept rubbing his back until he seemed a bit better and then went back into the bedroom to straighten out the sheets.

“I can hold you for a bit. Until you relax and fall asleep.” She got into the bed and pulled the comforter up to her lap. “Or we can stay up and talk some more.” She was exhausted but she would do anything to try and make him feel better.

She leaned her head back against the headboard and turned the light on the nightstand on so they could see each other. “Do you want to talk about it?”

Jake stood in the bathroom for a moment after Adri went back to bed. He let out some deep breaths before heading back to the bedroom.

He sat on his side of the bed but with his back to her. Jake was trying not to be upset with her because of what she did in his dream but it brought up questions. "Do you think I'm stupid?" He asked softly.

"Promise me, you won't let our children ever call someone else dad?" He asked and looked back at her.

“What?” Adri asked confused. “Why would I think you’re stupid? Or call you stupid?”

She looked at him and nodded her head, “They…won’t. I thought…are we…are you…Jake I thought we were in this together. I need to know if this isn’t happening. If we aren’t happening.” She told him.

She had a lot to get her head wrapped around if that was the case. Three kids on her own. The house she would have to bug. She wasn’t staying in Vegas. She worked in LA. She’d move down here.

They really did need to go to therapy. She couldn’t handle this back and forth teetering of how he felt about them being together.

Jake shook his head to why she would think he's stupid or why she would say that. "I'm sorry...the dream..." He ran a hand through his hair.

He moved to sit back and lean against the headboard. "No...Adri I want to still get married. I still want to have a family with you. In the dream Owen called someone else dad..." He scratched the back of his head. "The whole thing was fucked up..."

"I don't know which of the nightmares were worse. That one or the ones with my step father..."

“Whatever happened Jake, it was just a dream. I’m all in with you. I don’t want anyone else. The kiss was a mistake from years ago. Owen will never have a reason to call anyone else dad.” She promised and held back a yawn. She would stay up with him for as long as he needed her too.

She held her hands out so he could lay on her lap or against her chest. “Come here, Jake.” She said softly. “It’s not going to happen again. I promise.” She rubbed her back and closed her eyes.

“I love you and Owen and the family we are creating. Nothing and no one will change that.”

Jake let out a sigh. He knew that was the case. He knew it was just a dream. But sometimes to Jake those dreams seemed sometimes very real. "I know...I wouldn't let anyone else be called mom either. Ever. No matter what." He told her.

He moved and and let her lay back a bit and then laid his head on her chest. His eyes closed as she rubbed his back. She could easily feel him relaxing in her arms. "You know, I am pretty confident in my fighting ability. My physical fitness. But I know I can be a lot to be with or date. Im not as confident I guess." He said softly.

Jake felt bad she was so tired but was staying up with him. "You can go back to sleep babe. I'll be okay."

“There is nothing wrong with you.” She told him. “You’re not difficult to date. You’re not difficult to manage. You’re a person you have flaws, that’s normal but nothing is out of the ordinary. I can handle whatever you have to throw at me.” She said softly and kept rubbing his back.

“It’s fine Boo.” She said half asleep, but her nails were still scratching up and down his back. “Just let me know what you need in the morning and we will make it happen. I’ll see who we can get in touch with for a couples counselor.”

She didn’t hear whatever he said next because she was back asleep. She tried fighting it and would jerk awake and go back to scratching his back but after a minute she stopped fighting and went back to sleep.

She was being nice, he knew that. Jake was difficult. He had been though multiple assistants before she got the job and he honestly was surprised she lasted as long as she did. He had always said she was special for actually lasting as long she did. That was one of the things he liked about her. She always joked he was difficult but it was true. When they first met, it was worse than now though that's for sure. "I don't know...this nightmare thing threw a wrench in us. Owen threw one as well..."

He nodded to the counselor for the two of them. They needed to go even if it just helped him but going with her seemed like a good idea. At least she could also make sense of what he was feeling.

Jake stayed awake for awhile as he laid there just thinking about everything. He didn't want to get up out of fear of waking Adri. She was pregnant and needed her rest. Eventually, he fell asleep as well. Hopefully this time, he would stay asleep until Owen needed to get up.

The next time Adri woke up Jake was on the other side of the bed and it was light outside. She stretched her arms over head and sat up. She sat there for a little bit and wiped her eyes and continued to wake up. She got out of bed as gently as she could and went to the bathroom before checking on Owen and going downstairs.

She called their previous therapist and asked for recommendations in LA that they could go to. that felt better than doing something over the phone.

She got breakfast started and made a few calls to the recommendations to see who they could get into the quickest. There was one that could get them in later today. With Adri’s meeting schedule, she would be pushing it a bit, but she could meet Jake there and they could make it work. Jake said he was off for two days, so his schedule was open.

When Owen woke up she took the food off and the burner and went to go get him. She set him down to play in the living room and let the dogs out to do their business and fed them breakfast.

Owen was clingy, like he usually was in the morning so he stayed with Adri in the kitchen, not really interested in her toys. As long as he was touching her leg, he was fine just standing there. She gave him a few bites of food from the stove but he seemed content sucking his thumb.

“Come here bud.” She said softly and set him in the counter. “Did you sleep well?” She asked and tried to get his bed head in a more manageable state. She kissed his cheeks. “I’m sure daddy will be down once he smells the bacon.” She pinched his cheek and put him back down in on the ground and buttered the toast while the bacon finished.

Jake was sleeping pretty hard when Adri woke up. He didn't hardly move at all. If anything he nuzzled more into the bed. He was pretty worn out by everything. When he was sleeping without dreams he slept well.

When he did start to wake up, he noticed Adri was gone. That resulted in his face hiding on his pillow and a groan. His mind went back to the dream. But then the aroma of food made its way into their room.

Jake got up and pulled a shirt on before going downstairs with a yawn. He went in the kitchen but he felt a little nauseous as that was a lot like the dream. It was a relief though when he went into the kitchen and it was only Adri and Owen. "Morning."

He grabbed a mug to get some coffee. Jake looked rough and he felt pretty rough too. "You're up early."

“Good morning.” Adri greeted him. “Why don’t you go to Daddy?” She asked Owen but he was still holding on to her leg. She rubbed the top of his head and got the bacon on to a paper towel to drain.

“My sleep schedule is off. I’m always tired so I nap more. Being in New York didn’t help. My body is just out of whack.” She explained and picked up Owen to get him in his high chair for breakfast. She took the board from the chair and put some eggs, small pieces of bacon, a triangle of toast and strawberries on it and then clicked it into place.

“Are you hungry or do you want to go work out? I managed to get us an appointment with a counselor at 5:30 this evening. I’ll drive from my meeting to you. I sent you the info to your phone. This is just a basic getting to know you meeting.” She told him.

“I was going to go work it before ate. Can you watch him? Do you want to work out before you eat? I don’t care either way.” She said softly and watched Owen eat.
