The Legend of Zelda: Unraveled Legacy (pods6827 & StarMech)

By the looks of things the skies were clear an not a problem in sight. Link enjoyed a filling breakfast alongside the two gals while learning how everyone has returned to work now that the Aquamentus was no longer around to wreck everything up.

With everything said, done and eaten, it was time for Link to fulfil the reason of his arrival into Hateno and head towards the shrine. Luckily the Mayor was kind enough to tell him the exact location, right past the hill he previously walked up to and down a short dirt path east. Goodbyes were given between her, her daughter and Link, only stopping the young lad befor leaving by leaning over his ear and whispering:

"If you ever find yourself back in our village. You're free to stay the night with us anytime you like. Would love to have you around at night again~"

Link's face lightened like a tomato as Clavia simply waved goodbye, acting as if she had said nothing.

It didn't take long for Link's blush to fade and to cross over the hill. Finally arriving at what looked like some ruins amongst the green fields. The sight of broken pillars and destroyed marble, mostly consumed by the grass, leading into a hut of stone with a platform in the middle, which despite it being of old stone, it seemed to have survived the elements, with the exception of some moss and grass starting to grow upon its backside.

The eye symbol of the Sheika was displayed proudly upon its front, confirming the fact he was on the right place.

"I see you made it!" A voice was heard.

From the shadows a figure leaped, only to land next to link. A young man around his age, of red eyes and silvery short hair, had appeared, wearing the clothes of the Sheikah. Link's mind recalled back to realize this was the same young lad that stood next to Impa and Dorian back at the shelter.

"I don't think we were much introduced back then. My name is Kaji." He said, extending his hand in friendship. By the sound of his voice he seemed much more laidback then the likes of the other Sheikah he had met. Then again, he hadn't met much of them either. "I was sent here to check on your progress."
 
Clearly enjoying the home cooked meal, Link chatted pleasantly with the two women as they ate. He was glad to hear that the villagers were getting back to work now that the Aquamentus was gone. He only hoped that the other, smaller monsters would stay away for a time so as to give them all time to recover.

Once the meal was done Link helped to clean up before packing up his belongings to prepare to head out to the shrine. Saying his goodbyes to his hosts, the young man blushed at Clavia's words, thankful that Orielle had looked away for a moment. With all that done Link started making his way along the path to the shrine, waving back at both women as he walked.

Following Clavia's instructions the knight quickly reached his destination, helped by the fact that there were no monsters nearby. Whether because the Aquamentus had been a territorial sort and they didn't know it had died, or because they wanted to avoid meeting the same end as it he didn't know, but he wasn't about to complain either. While his rest had soothed the worst of his injuries there was still a bit of soreness where the large beast's water blast had struck him.

It was obvious when he arrived at the shrine; even if it wasn't the only thing other than trees for quite some distance the presence of the Sheikah symbols on it was kind of a giveaway. The sudden voice made Link start slightly, his hand going to his sword before he saw who it was and relaxing slightly. "Good to meet you properly Kaji," he said, reaching out to clasp his hand. "So, this is the shrine then?" The knight rhetorically asked, as though there was any doubt. "I suppose I just have to figure out how to get in there." Link looked over the stonework for any sign of an entrance.
 
Kaji nodded before approaching the shrine. "Well. that may not be much of an issue. That's why I was also sent here."

The silver-haired lads walked around the structure, by the look on his face, he appeared to be looking for something. Checking every nook and cranny of the general area until reach a small series of roots and leaves around something..."This must be it." He muttered.

He started to pull on the vines. Old bark and leaf dropping upon the grass as if unwrapping a present. What lied inside was some kind of stone pedestal. the same magictech markings as the likes of the Great Defending Tower back on Hyrule Castle City all culminating upon a rectangled hole on a flat surface.

"According to ancient Sheikah manuscripts, these Shrines were designed with the intention to only open to designated sages and monks and to the Hero of Legend himself. Inside, the used to store information, or create tests to measure the hero's strength. This here should be the lock mechanism of the entrance. Your Sheikah Slate should be able to open the Shrine if you isnert it here..."
 
Link watched as Kaji pulled away the many vines and other overgrowth from the shrine, eventually stopping when he found a pedestal of the same material as the rest of the shrine. Stepping forward, he listened to the Sheikah as he explained the function of the shrine and, just as importantly, how to get inside. "In that case..." the knight trailed off as he walked forward until he was in front of the rectangular indent. Pulling out his Slate Link did as Kaji said and placed it in the indent, finding that it fit perfectly.

He waited for a moment, wondering if there was anything else that he had to do. "Is that it?" he asked, "Maybe there's an app that unlocks it once it's in there..." Link leaned closer, examining the screen of his Slate.
 
Right as Link was just finished those words, he was interrupted. The indent in which the Sheikah Slate started to glow in a blue hue. Said blue extended all over the pedestal, with the rest of the Shrine following suit alongside a shaking of the ground. The Sheikah and Hylian were taken by surprise by the rumblings, but managed to stay on their feet once finished.

The Platform at the entrance of the shrine was now glowing with the symbol of the mysterious ninja clan. By the looks of it, some kind of elevator had activated...

Taking a brief look at eachother, the two stepped into the platform, which then started to lower into the underground depths...

This lead the two to step off once the elevator had stopped. They were now inside a mysterious, yet somewhat beautiful chamber. The walls appeared to be made of an ancient polished stone, and the floor shared a combination between beautiful marble and this ancient material. Strange patters adorned the walls and roof, almost resembled constellations in the way they shined and connected.

Pillars with orbs of light stood around the corners of the chamber, enveloping the room with a blueish hue all over. The chamber itself appeared to consist of a small entrance, with only the elevator and a slab of stone planted upon the floor. An doorless gate cut between this room and the next. From the looks of it, the other room appeared to big and simple, with not much anything on the other side. However, at the end of said room lied a bit lock-like mechanism upon the wall, the Sheikah Symbol adorning its center.

There was a strange sense of serenity when they stepped inside, an strange feeling, almost mystical, in the air. "Fascinating!" Kaji exclaimed. "I has seem depiction written in the ancient text, but seeing it with one's real eyes..."

The young Sheikah stepped near the stone slab. Encryptions of an ancient text appeared to tell something. Kaji took a closer inspection.

"...O who carries the symbol of our legacy, standing before you lies a vault of hidden knowledge. That who may one require the trace the steps of the Hero and find the secrets beyond. But beware those who don't have the mettle to know, as one skills must be tested for the Eye to close...""

"Hm...I am not sure how exactly this would "Test your skill", but this makes it sound like soemthing is up ahead. So be careful, Link." Said the ninja.
 
Link watched as his Slate began to glow, the ground shaking around them as something, though at first it wasn't clear what, was happening to the shrine. Realizing that they had few other options, the knight stepped onto the platform with Kaji, and they quickly found themselves descending into the shrine's lower levels.

While he didn't have quite the level of awe towards this place that Kaji seemed to, Link couldn't help but be impressed by the chamber we arrived in. "I've never seen anything like this!" he murmured, looking around the room as we both step into it. The knight listened as Kaji read from the slab, wondering just how he would be tested. "Regardless of the danger, I won't be able to do anything else if I don't pass this test." Taking a breath, he stepped past the gate and into the next room.
 
As Link stepped in the other room, bars of stone emerged from ground, blocking the way he had come in and cutting him from Kaji. "Link, be careful!" Said the Sheikah, also unaware of what exactly was going to face him.

Part of the floor a few steps from our hero parted, revealing a raising lift. As it reached to its destination a strange automaton stepped forward. Something aking a spider or crab, with bendable mechanical extremities that moved swiftly along the floor. Its body had a series of runes and markings carved upon it as well as a big glowing eye. suddenly, its torso split and change, revealing two new arms that ended in the form of a blades.

Gazing upon Link, the automaton rushed towards him.
 
Giving a brief look back at the gate that now barred his way, Kaji's shout brought his attention back to the room, where a strange mechanical being had appeared. And from the look of it's blades, it was ready to fight!

Quickly drawing his sword and (still dented) shield, Link brought both up as the automaton charged him. The knight began moving to the side as it approached, making sure to keep some distance from the glowing creation until he could get some idea of what it could do.
 
The machine wasted no time in getting into the offensive. Slashes came left and right as the blue energy blades tried to hit link almost mindlessly. Despite seemly lacking any kind of personality, it appeared it still had knowledge in combat, as its body moved in tandem with Link's circling around it; as if trying to face him no matter what he tried.

The automaton then lunged once more, attacking with a hard horizontal slice.
 
Fortunately for Link he'd been prepared to fight, and he was able to block the mechanical combatant's initial strikes with only a little difficulty. There was strength behind it's blows, the knight noted, enough that he would have to be very careful here.

The automoton's main weakness, Link noted, was that it wasn't very subtle, to the point of occasionally telegraphing it's attacks. So when it lunged forward he was more than ready, jumping backwards to dodge it's slice before leaping forward, bringing his sword down against the metal body in a flurry of blows!
 
His sword slammed upon the robot's shell, causing it to wobble as it showed signs of being damaged. Its lights even flickering with every hit he did.

However, while the machine seemed to call out its attacks with its gestures, its speed was still a considerable threat. Without even having to use its legs, its body turned to face Link before slicing vertically downwards. The sheer strength of the attack sent Link back a few feet into the ground.

That's when the automaton took a hop backwards, as it was revving up for something. And indeed it was! Its body started to rapidly spin, both swords out like it had become a living saw.

And in a moment's notice its legs activated once more, heading straight for our hero while still spinning.
 
Hissing a bit as one of it's blades struck him, Link quickly got back to his feet, not wanting to be prone before his robotic attacker. That turned out to be the right decision, as he stood up just in time to see it start to spin.

Eyes widening, at the sight of it's whirling blades of death, Link wondered if this was what it had been like for the Yiga who'd charged into his spin attack before deciding to turn and run in the other direction.

Unfortunately for the young man, it was clear that the machine would catch up with him shortly. Thinking quickly, Link dived to the side just before he would have been caught by the spinning blades, hoping that it wouldn't change direction towards him.
 
Much to Link's dismay, it seemed that automaton didn't wait long before changing trajectory, starting once again spinning with its blades out, coming after him.

An idea, however resurfaced. It seemed it'd still continue said tactic until he changed things up. Taking a glance at his shield, while worn out, he questioned: Could he be able to parry its attack?
 
Deciding that he wouldn't be able to avoid the machine forever, Link stood his ground as it rushed towards him once more. Knowing that even a moment's hesitation might lead to his doom, the knight focused his attention on it, shield held resolutely before him as the automaton whirled towards him.

Then, just as it's slicing blades were about to strike him, Link saw the perfect moment. He pushed his shield forward so the blade would strike it instead of him, gritting his teeth as he felt the heavy impact through his arm.
 
His gambit appeared to have worked! the machine's blade impacted against Link's shield, and his strength managed for the artificial arm to back away, making the automaton lose a bit of its footing. Almost like it had glitched, its arm was taking a bit of time to react, giving him an opening to slash away into it.
 
And Link was quick to take advantage of that opening! Bringing his sword up once more the knight swung it at the automaton's body, not holding back at all as he endeavored to make this opportunity count.
 
And so our hero brought his simple sword upon the ancient machine. Smacking not once, not twice, but multiple times. With each strike, the guardian was pushed back, and with every attempt at once again attempt to harm our hero, it was met with another perfect parry.

The machine's movements were slow than something like the Aquamentus, so Link was quick to pick up in the right timing to dodge and strike. Eventually, with one last swing of the blade, the automaton's arms broke away, its bladed ends disappearing into particles of blue mist rather than leaving its weapons behind, followed by the shell body to implode into pieces. Nothing was left over than a series of screws and metal plates.

With serenity finally returning to the shrine, the door that was previously sealed when he stepped in opened, letting Kaji run to his side.

"That was amazing!" Exclaimed the Sheikah with a surprising excited tone, "You were so cool dodging all those blades and then when you parry its attack that was so..." He quickly stopped himself before awkwardly coughing and regaining posture. "Um..it was good. Great work." He said a bit embarrassed at his outburst. He tried his best to appear calm and collected as the other Sheikah, of course a ill attempt after being so excited like a kid before...

A clicking sound soon caught their attention. The gate previously sealed at the end of the room, away from their entrance, started to rumble. The Sheikah symbol in the lock glowed while its mechanisms creaked and twisted, unlocking the passage as it parted away in grandeur.

A new part of the room was revealed, a small set of stairs leading into a higher platform with another type of stone pedestal sticking out of it. Like the one at the entrance. It appeared to had been carved for the Slate to be placed upon it, perhaps activating another mechanisms.

"Well Link. I guess you know what to do." Said Kaji, "Perhaps we will find some answers..."
 
Breathing heavily in the aftermath of the surprise fight, Link almost didn't notice the gate opening and Kaji running towards him, the Sheikah moving quietly even at his speed. At the other teen's exclamation he blinked, sheathing his sword and looking at him. "Heh, thanks," Link said, but before he could say any more they were distracted by a great rumbling sound from the other side of the room.

When the noise stopped the way forward was open, and Link could see another pedestal like the one before. Nodding, Link took a step before pausing, looking back at the remains of the automaton. 'Zelda probably would've liked to see it,' he idly thought, and although he couldn't bring the whole thing back with him there was something he could do.

Quickly bending down and grabbing one of the larger, less broken screws, Link placed the object in his inventory before turning back to Kaji. "Alright, let's see what's behind door number one," he joked, making his way towards the pedestal and placing his Slate on it, preparing himself for what might happen next.
 
((I'm feeling this music is fitting to the scene...))

In similar fashion to the entrance of the shrine, the pedestal, or Guidance Stone as they were known with the more common types of magitech, in which the Sheikah Slate had been placed started to display a series of slowing marks. These expanded beyond it, reaching all the way across the elevated platform. A computerised voice, slightly glitched, spoke: "Sheikah Slate Identified. Accessing Security Information...."

"Security Authorization Found. Accessing Database..."

A beam of light emerged from the Slate, generating a holographic screen to be displayed in the air, not much different from the likes of the ones found at Hyrule Castle or in simplified items like Seervision.

Kaji approached as a series of text in ancient language appeared, alongside three symbols. Link had no clue what it all meant, but luckily the young Sheikah man was there to assist him.

"Hm...it seems to be addressed to high ranked officials...great elders and...the hero himself..." He said, checking the upper set of text before descending down.

He translated slowly, clearly something so easy, but still proving his talent. "For whom to have been granted access into our sanctum, be of kin blood or the one chosen by the Goddesses, let this be a guide towards the treasures, for you to seek or hide, if darkness is to be approached."

He continued, "Three treasures: The Pendants of Virtue...On their own, they posses a powerful magic, which can only be brought upon by one who's heart shows promise. In the hands of good, they can aid to many, while in the wrong hands, can bring upon great destruction.."

"...But together, they be ones which are said to be the key to reach the resting place of the sacred weapon, The Blade of Evil's Bane..."

"These had been gifted to our fellow tribes, to share our duty of protecting Hyrule together. Our history marked with blood, we have bound not to to shed more and rather trust the land at its people for our kingdom's prosperity..."

Kaji gently reached upon the screen, realizing that it appeared to respond to touch. When he touched one of the symbols, more information appeared in ancient text, then moved to the next and the next after that...

"...The Pendant of Wisdom, pearl of mystic waters, rests up the eastern rivers, where the waters run most clean..."


"...The Pendant of Power, gem of burning might, lies within the fiery northen mountains, guarded by the rocks and depths..."


"...and The Pendant of Courage, who's valor knows no bounds, sleeps within the western heights, gifted to the ones who soar the winds..."


"It is your duty to keep them apart, to not fall prey to darkness, and to gather them when the time is right, upon the forgotten spot as the path to the Sacred Blade opens..."

With that, Kaji was finished, simply letting Link to process all that. He knew it was a lot to take in. "I see....the place they speak...rivers, mountains and heights...Zora River...Death Mountain...the Tabantha Frontier. That must be it!"

"Hm...still. It doesn't say where to begin. I guess that falls upon you, Link"

(That's some pretty great music for this scene!)

Link watched as the Guardian Stone began to glow, creating a holographic screen before them that displayed lines of unfamiliar text as well as other symbols. Fortunately for his quest it seemed that Kaji could read it and began doing so, translating it for him.

At the mention of the Pendants Link perked up, recalling that they were the objects he'd been sent to find. That the Stone confirmed that the three of them, when brought together, would lead him to the Blade of Evil's Bane meant that the Sheikah weren't wrong about that part of the legend. Which was good because if they had been then he wouldn't know anything about where to go or what to do next.

After Kaji finished speaking Link looked between the three options, thinking about which one he should go after first. "I think," he began, the knight deciding to simply let his instincts guide him in this, "That I'll go after the Pendant of Courage."
 
"So you're really heading out then..." Kaji said. "Very well. Let's get out of this place and I'll point you to the right direction..."

With that, after Link picked his Sheikah Slate back, the two headed their way up to the surface, to the green plains of Hateno were the ancient shrine rested.

"Alright then..."

Kaji crossed his arms, a few minutes having passed since their exited the shrine and him handing him a few essentials, some extra packs of food as well as a small camping set. "We still need to investigate this shrine to see if there's any other information we can gather from it. So from this point you'll be back to heading out on your own."

He rose his hand to point northwest as the soft breeze blew by. "Continuing from this direction its the way to the Tabantha Frontier. I must warn you that the terrain starts getting a bit more mountainous from there, as well as a couple of small lakes and meadows. If my information doesn't fail me, there are a few small rest spots across the past for you to collect extra supplies and rest, but no major cities until reaching the Frontier. That database didn't say where the Pendant is located exactly, but our biggest guess is that you may find answers at Gale Roost Village, a Rito settlement created across the the walls of a small ridge. Maybe their Elder can tell you more..."

"So...I guess this is it then. I'm sorry, this being the first time this happens I really don't know how one really sends off a hero, haha." Chuckles the young Sheikah, "For security reasons I can't say much, but I've been told that the Pirncess is safe, so you don't have to worry..."

He took a soft breath before finishing. "Until you cross paths with us Sheikah again, all i can say is, Good Luck out there, Link."

With a casual bye, strange given the other much serious Sheikah he had seen, he surprised our heroes with a smoke bomb, clouding him in a sheet of smoke. when the smoke cleared Kaji was no longer there...
 
Once they were back up in the open air Link took a deep breath, glad to be above the ground once more. He took the offered food and supplies, grateful for the extra goods as well as the tent. After all, he thought, he couldn't always rely on finding an inn, or being offered a bed for the night as he had been in Hateno.

"I'll wish you all luck in your investigations then," he said, nodding to the Sheikah before clasping hands with him. Link looked to the Northwest as Kaji continued to speak, listening as he explained the basic geography of the area he was heading towards. "And I'll make my way towards Gale Roost Village. Hopefully you're right and their Elder can give me a little more info, but if not I can still begin my search there."

The mention of the Princess' safety definitely caught Link's attention, and though he was a little sad that Kaji couldn't tell him anymore he understood. Before he could say any more however he watched as the Sheikah dropped a smoke bomb, disappearing while the knight was coughing. When the smoke cleared Link looked around for a moment but could find no sign that he'd ever been there. "Wouldn't mind learning how to do that..." He muttered under his breath.

Giving the shrine one final look, Link turned and began walking to the Northwest, towards the Tabantha Frontier and the next part of his quest.
 
And so Link started the path towards his first destination: Gale Roost Village. Not having transport of his own, the first steps were going to be difficult. And calling Irene up for every lift would be complicated for one who owned a shop.

As such, he had to wing it across the wilderness until at least until reaching some sort of pass or small settlement, hopefully managing to get a ride further if luck was on his side.

He traversed from patch after patch of grass, and more of the peaceful hills and small packs of trees greeted him along the way. The village of Hateno was but a spec in his vision, leaving the memories of hospitality and quite saucy nights to simply dwell upon his mind.

It was then, where the path divided into three: one appeared to cross through a forest-y pass further down protected by a set of mountain walls, the other path appeared much more open following a river, following a trail of dirt, and the third path lead up to a rather rocky area, with mroe stone and gravel...
 
Not for the first time, Link wished that he had some means of traveling at a speed faster than on foot. He'd never needed a car of his own since Mr Bo was usually a pretty reliable ride, and even if he had one there wasn't exactly a driving path through this forest.

He thought about calling on Irene for a lift, but decided against it. He couldn't rely on her all the time after all, and while his current task was important he didn't necessarily need to rush to his destination. The hike was a pleasant one though, and Link enjoyed the peaceful surroundings as he moved. As far as the knight could tell there were no monsters nearby, and he wasn't going to complain about the chance to rest his muscles a bit after the last few fights.

Coming to a fork in the forest path, Link considered the three directions he could take. After a moment he decided to follow the third path, continuing forward as the small stones crunched beneath his feet.
 
Link continued his way through the rocky path. Altitude started to gradually increase, accelerated by the skipping of certain parts of the trail by Link opting to actually give climbing a go. Something taught to many trainees at the academy in order to traverse rough terrain, Link discovered he had quite knack for climbing since he was little kid; Remembering countless times how he used to climb up the trees at the woods near Ordon Ranch (as well as the many bruises he gained whenever he fell).

Rocky wall after rocky wall, Link climbed, eventually reaching a vast patch of grass that extended for miles from his point. He wasn't sure how far had he climbed, but he was just starting to feel the colder winds blow by. Not freezing by any means, but the altitude making them feel much colder.

Sights of civilization appeared no longer around, and the only recognizable landmark the young Hylian could was the high frigid peaks of Mt. Lanayru looming on the distance, and even so that was so far away...

As for now, all our hero could do was continue walking through the green pastures until reaching another point of direction.

It was amongst this walking when suddenly he was bumped by something. A blue-furred fox suddenly passed by him. It's fur was almost sparkling, as if it had some strange elegance in the way it looked, as well as it ran.

Suddenly, he started to hear rapid footsteps. eyes widened as a trio of bokoblin riding horses were galloping in his direction! Were they chasing after the fox? It appeared so as the creature quickly hid nearby. One was armed with a iron sword and a wooden shield on the back, another had a simple spear and the third had a wooden bow, all riding a group of wild horses.
