It's Just Human Nature (MysteriousD/DaddysLittleSkank)

"Nope. I did go a bit crazy for awhile but I stopped so I could focus more on my music." Marceline said checking the pockets of other stuff. "Plus it's a lot cheaper not having to buy contraceptives and condoms. Although I did get good use out my remaining condoms... not like that. I used them as water balloon to throw at my ex. It was awesome because they didn't pop."

Morgan thanked Peppermint Butler before heading into the bathroom to shower.

As for the pen, rolled up inside was a a letter.

Diego bit his lip as he looked at Marceline though he did wonder if her being a vampiric cambion was a question on her genetics worked. (cambion being half human halfdemon hybrid.) He did smile and laughed a bit when Marceline siad she'd use her old condoms as water balloons to throw at her bastard ex. "Well, you deserve better. I'm hoping you meet someone who will make you happy," he said as he looked around. "We're both relics of a bygone era, aren't we?" Diego noted as he looked out.

Princess Bubblegum with gloves examined the pen ans scanning it for things like fingerprints and chemical residues and anythng else that could be of relevance. WHile going through the x-rays, she found a letter. Well now, she thought to herself. This wouldbe something interesting to investigate in.

When Morgan would finish showering, she would find a note from PB near another dinner cart along with a couple of books in the event that she was bored or such.

"Yup, us and a few others." Marceline said. "But there's definitely more ruins and relics than living beings that can actually remember what those ruins and relics were used for."

Morgan got out of the shower and changed in a fresh set of clothes from her backpack before climbing into the bed and falling asleep for the first time in a thousand years.

The only fingerprints on the pen were her own along Morgan and Marceline. All of the rest showed the pen to be much older than expected at roughly two thousand years old however the design couldn't have been much older than a thousand. The letter itself was written on paper and with ink common in Ooo. It was also addressed to Morgan.

Diego smiled at her though somewhat tiredly. "And we'll probably outlive some of the others... but we have each other. I'm... I'm a loyal type you know. I would never leave anyone. And, if you wanted me around, I'd never leave you," Diego said before blushing a bit on how romantic it sounded. He didn't want to express his feelings like that, not yet anyway.

"Well, that yielded nothing," Princess Bubblegum sighed before she carefully extracted the letter from the pen and put it on to be scanned so the text could be read. She didn't know what to expect.

"True. I know Bubblgum will keep living and so will Simon unless he goes back to being a human, but other than that we're the only ones." Marceline finished pulling stuff out of her clothes' pockets and had a small pile on the floor.

The letter was written in fancy cursive and started with the words "To Morgan" and ended "Love, Your Father" followed by a signiture that was illegible. This brought up the question of how it had ended up with Morgan if she had never seen the pen but the letter contained within it was addressed to her.

"Though PB seems to always be worried about whether she will lvie forever and needing an heir," Diego commented as he'd help Marceline with whatever she needed for the while before eventually heading back to the treehouse.

PB then began reading the letter and analyzing it. She found it surprising and would further scan it and analyze it.

One Week Later...

Diego had been hanging around Marceline and helping her with stuff or whatever he could just to spend time with her. As of right now, he was heading over to PB's castle. Finn, Jake and Marceline were already there. Apparently, PB had something to tell them all, especially Morgan.

"Well Diego should be here soon," Finn said as he was leaning on the wall. "You ad Diego have been spending alot of time together," Jake said teasingly to Marceline. The two brothers were surprised that Marceline still didn't realize that Diego liked her, like, really really like her.

"Yeah," Marceline said nonchalantly, "he's pretty cool."

Morgan sat with her eyes closed trying to be calm despite being nervous, anxious, or fearful all at once. Marceline saw this and put her hand on Morgan's shoulder. The two had gotten pretty close over the week. Marceline couldn't explain it but there was just something about Morgan that was extremely familiar.

Finn and Jake looked at one another. "He was worried that he was bugging you because he went over to hang out with you alot," Finn said, wondering if Marceline actually was really that unaware of Diego's feelings toward her.

"You okay, Morgan? You need to take a couple of deep breaths, girl," Jake told Morgan comfortingly. Diego was almost there, but not quite.

"Nah it's cool hanging with him." Marceline stated. "He is kinda a dork but he's a cool dork."

"I know." Morgan took a couple deep breaths. "I just work myself up with pointless worry." She didn't even know why she was freaking out, it's not like she had a reason. She was learning about the pen that was found with her but something told her there was something more to it and that something was a big deal, however she couldn't explain why she thought this.

Finn and Jake smiled a bit at Marceline, glad that she didn't think Diego wa sa weirdo or anything. Though they then looked at one another. Finn took out a coin and flipped it. It landed on tails; he then smirked to Jake. "Aw man. Look Marceline, remember a couple days ago when Diego was on that weird wacky juice and he said that he wanted to tell you something, but then said FInn or me would tell you cause he was worried," Jake reminded her. "Well yeah, here's the thing. Diego likes you. Like a lot, as in..." he began before forming a big heart with his stretchy hands.

"We kinda figured you'd figure it out sooner," Finn said slightly sheepishly when looking at Marceline's stunned face.

"Well, PB tends to say important things," Jake says.

"Yeah, I know." Marceline said more surprised that Finn and Jake knew. "I've been playing a little hard to get." She winked at them. Diego wasn't really her type as she normally went for the rocker types with tattoos and piercings. However she was willing to give him a shot, he seemed nice enough and maybe she needed a change.

"Marceline... this is Diego. Yeah, hes a dork, but he's a really nice guy. He's not gonan tell you because he's afraid you'd say no and that he's not good enough for you," Jake said as he pinched his eyebrows in a rare moment of frustration. "Look Marcie... we know about the junk between you and Ash, but he's not Ash. He's like the opposite. He's like.. Good. Really good," Finn added.

PB stepped out, having overheard. "I'm not good with this, because of my own failings. But, Diego is the type of person who would be committed, loyal, compassionate so ultimately, a good partner to spend your life with. We know he traditionally isn't your type, Marceline, but maybe that will be a good thing. We just want you to be happy," she added with a soft smile.

"If you ask him out, I will." Morgan said.

"Really?" Marceline asked.

"Uh, yeah. He's awesome, and you two would make an adorable couple." Morgan responded, crossing her arms.

"So you'd just be asking him out for me?" Marceline asked and Morgan nodded.

"Actually, I think this is something Marceline needs to talk to Diego about on her own," Princess Bubblegum told Morgan. "Besides, with what is about to happen, it would be for the best," she said and as if on cue, Diego flys in and arrives.

"What did I miss?" Diego asks. "SOmething for later, Diego," Pricness Bubblegum said before she presents Morgan with the letter she found, though in a special plasic sheet to help preserve the letter. "I discovered this letter from the pen you found. I read it and had it analyzed and... well... read it out loud for everyone if you wish, Morgan. Regardless, this letter is of the upmost importance," she explaned to her.

Morgan leaned over and whispered to Bubblegum, "Shut up, I'm trying to give her a push to ask him out."

"I'd prefer to read it to myself first." Morgan said taking the letter and unrolling it. She took a few minutes to read it before closing her eyes and pursing her lips. "Okay, wow. That was... unexpected." She appeared to be on the verge of tears before reading it out loud. "To Morgan, I am so sorry for not being there for you and not protecting you, but I hope what I plan to do will make up for it. It may seem like I did this with malicious intent, but if you knew what I do you'd know I'm doing this because I love you. I know you are unhappy and trust me, you will find it here in Ooo with family and friends. It's going to be hard getting used to things but you will and will you will find where you belong. Love, Your father."

"I know, but I'm hoping she'll try and be mature about it," Princess Bubblegum said as he passed Morgan the letter. They all remained quiet before they saw her on the verge of tears. Before anyone could say anything else, she began reading the letter to anyone and the group looked stunned.

"There's more to it... isn't there, Princess Bubblegum?" Diego questioned as he wondered what the princess was up to. She sighed and nodded. "Yes. I also took the chance to analyze Morgan's DNA along with anything else on the pen and paper. The surprise was that I was able to get information to reconstruct who Morgan's parents are...," she looked to Morgan before looking to Marceline.

She took a hologram machine and it began loading before it finished. "There are her parents," she said. The machine fizzed before showing two familar people...

"SIMON?!" Finn said, absolutely shocked while Jake's jaw literally dropped before tooking a moment to also look at the woman. "That's.. uh... Betty wasn't it?" Jake said as he was reeling from this. Diego himself was not as shocked, but still was. The fact was that Morgan's parents were still, tehcnically, alive.

Morgan's eyes grew larger and she looked up with tears welling up in her eyes, "How do you know about my parents?"

Marceline sighed, "They're here... in Ooo and they're alive. Your father is ruler of the kingdom that you were found in. The crown he wears has driven him beyond insane but without it he'll die."

"How do you know?"

"I was seven when the Mushroom War ended, I found myself abandoned and Simon took care of me." Marceline was trying to keep her composure.

Morgan sniffles before stating, "I want to meet him."

"And as for your mother... well, through the use of strong spellcrafting, she was brought from her time to this one and she attempted to cure your father of his curse... but unfortunately, she ended up also succumbing to madness as a result of tkaing magic," Princess Bubblegum explained in a rather tired sort of tone.

"Do you think Prismo could do something about it?" Finn asked Jake quietly. "We already used our wishes, man. But maybe he knows something," Jake said back after taking a moment to think.

"Morgan... your father isn't as you would know him. He spent centuries growing mad as a result of the crown's magic," Diego said as he was digesting all of this nformation himself.

"But I never knew him." Morgan said. "I never knew either of them. I want to meet him because... because it'll give me some kind ties here. I don't care if he's not himself, my dad is in there somewhere."

"He barely remembers me." Marceline stated.

"I don't think he knew I existed." Morgan clenched her fists. "And if he's as bad as you say, he won't question me being his daughter."

"If you really want to, I can take you there," Finn offered to Morgan with a smile. He knew what it was like in regards to seeking the truth of parentage. However, unlike his own experiences, he hoped that thigns would be better regarding them. However, he wasn't sure of the truth of Betty.

"Only if you're really sure about this," Jake added to Morgan. He didn't know how Ice Kign would react.

"Very well then. Finn, Jake, you escort Morgan to see Simon," Princess Bubblegum said. While she wasn't clse to him as the others were to call him by name, she did have some udnerstanding and ultimately, any real hate she for him faded away and replaced by some mix of feeling sorry for him along with some concern.

"Marceline, Diego, what will you do?" Bubblegum asked. Diego didn't say anything, but was looking at Marceline, Princess Bubblegum figured that Diego would follow Marceline regarding which decision.

Morgan hugged Finn, happily "Thank you!" over and over.

"Since in the closest to Simon, I think I should be the one to introduce them." Marceline said. "Finn and Jake can still come. It'll just be easier if I'm there."

Finn smiled, blushing a bit before laughing nervously. Jake himself couldn't help but smile back in his own way at the rather adorable scene them.

"And I'll come with as well," Diego stated when Marceline said she would be going over. Princess Bubblegum nodded in approval though she sent Marceline a subtle look in regards Diego agreeing to what Marceline said.

"Then all of you should get going," Princess Bubblegum told them.

Morgan let go of Finn, and nodded.

"This is gonna be weird." Marceline sighed. She had no idea how he'd react, what if he tried to freeze Morgan again? "Okay let's go." She started heading towards the exit.

"Well, I'm sure it'll be okay. Least we can try and help Simon," Finn states before Jake stretched out so they could go out. "Come on, Morgan! Hop on!" Jake told Morgan as Finn offered his hand to help ehr get on.

Diego's body tranaformed for the copters to come out and he got ready to fly out alongside Marceline. Meanwhile, Princess Bubblegum was in thought, thinking on what would be the next step.

Morgan blushed and took Finn's hand before taking a seat behind him. As Jake began moving, Morgan wrapped her arms around Finn, afraid of falling.

Marceline flew ahead and made it to the Ice Kingdom before the others. She floated into the castle and called out, "Simon?"
