“If they’re healthy, and how far along I am.” Rai answered. “The normal stuff.” She walked in and wrote her name on the check-in slip before sitting in one of the chairs. She was visibly nervous, not knowing what to expect.
 
"Good afternoon, how are you doing? Oh hi Steven!" The nurse said as she turned to see them. Steven looked like he was recognized by everything. "Hi! We've got some questions and we would like for you to help us," Steven asked the nurse with a smile on his face.
 
The nurse held the door open and said, gesturing towards the back, “Right this way.” She turned towards the remaining group, “Unfortunately you all will have to stay here for the time being. If you’ll be able to join them, I’ll come back out and get you.”

When Rai heard this she took Steven’s hand, clearly more nervous than before.
 
Diego squeezed Pearl's hand to reassure her and Steven did the same for Rai. "Don't worry, I'm sure it'll be fine," the guys told their respective girlfriends while Amethyst took a seat alongside Garnet.

They entered the room. "So, how does this work?" Steven asked as he still noted Rai's nervousness.
 
The nurse lead them into one of two exam rooms and closed the door behind them. “It depends on what you’re here for.” She said motioning for the two to sit down.

“I found out this morning I’m pregnant, and I’d like to have an ultrasound.” Rai said sitting on the exam tables

“Okay and when was your last period?” The nurse asked.

Rai thought about it, “I’d say eight or nine weeks ago, I don’t really keep track. I took that test that says how far along you are and it said I was farther along than that.”

“Okay, we can do a blood test to see the amount of HcG in your system, but if you already know that your levels are high, it wouldn’t tell us anything we don’t already know.” The nurse explained. “Or we could skip that and go straight to the ultrasound.”
 
"Well, it all depends on what you wanna do," Steven asked Rai. He wasn't sure on how the HcG would be affected by the child being, well part-Gem, but from what Dad told him, there wasn't much issue with him when he was inside Mom and he turned out all right, especially since they didn't really go the doctor in the first place.

He awaited Rai's response.
 
“Correct me if I’m wrong but HcG is just the hormone created by pregnancy, it doesn’t do much to affect the developing baby?” Rai asked

“That’s right. We would be concerned if it was low because it may be because of a miscarriage or something wrong with the fetus.” The nurse explained. “But since you said it’s high, there isn’t much need for it.”
 
"All right, so it sounds like everything should be good then," Steven said with a smile as he turned to face Rai.

"So we go to the ultra sound then?" he asked.
 
“We do have to ru the normal tests; pulse, weight, tempature.” The nurse said before she pulled out the equipment and began taking Rai’s vitals. When she was done she wrote things down and told the couple the doctor would be in to see them shortly.
 
Steven sat patiently as he watched the nurse adminsiter all the tesrs carefully onto Rai, nothing everything she is doing. When finishes and tells them the doctor would be here soon, he thanked the nurse.

"How do you feel?" Steven asks Rai asks as he goes to grab her hand to reassure her.
 
“A bit nervous, but not like a bad nervous, it’s excited nervous.” Rai said taking Steven’s and kissing it. She then laid down on the exam table pulled up her shirt and unbuttoned her jeans.

The door opened and the Gems walked in. “The nurse said we could come in now.” Pearl said. “But due to the size of the room, Diego had to stay in the waiting room.”
 
While Diego was in the waiting room, he was making some notes for later.

"That makes sense. Everything seems to be fine so far. We're waiting for the doctor to come in," Steven responded to them with a smile.
 
The door opened a second time and a woman in a lab coat walked in. “Are you ready to see your baby?” She asked, shaking everyone’s hand.

“Yes.” Rai answered.

The woman put gel on Rai stomach and began pressing the ultrasound wand against her stomach. “Give me a second while I find your uterus.”
 
Steven smiled and waved at the woman while looking at Rai with a confident look. Garnet put a hand on Pearl's shoulder to reassure her. From what it looked like, everything was so far, so good.
 
“There it is, now let’s see what’s going on in there.” The doctor said as she tried finding a good view. “You appear to be eight weeks.” She point toward the screen to a circle on the screen, “There’s one embryonic sack,” she pointed to an oval, “and there’s a second.”

“Twins?” Rai asked with a huge smile.

The doctor pointed back to the circle, and then back toward the oval, “The first sack has one fetus in it, but the second appears to have two fetuses in it.” She zoomed in using her computer. “Yup, you’re having triplets and there’s a set of identical twins in there.”
 
Steven smiled at hearing the good news before he and the other Gems turned to see the children over on the screen. It wasn't one or two children, but three of them.

"Oh wow, TRIPLETS!" Steven said with a big smile on his face and stars on his eyes.

"This is incredible," he added while looking at the Gems for their reaction. Garnet also had a smile on her face, it remidned Steven of when he first fused with Connie.
 
"Weren't you the one who wanted a big family," Steven couldn't help but joke back before he leaned in to kiss her with a big smile on his face.

"Congratulations to the both of you," Garnet said with her big smile on her face.
 
“Yeah but all at once.” Rai replied before she kissed Steven and hugged him. “I love you so much.”

“Does this mean when you guys need s break, you’re just gonna hand us each a kid?” Amethyst asked.
 
"I love you so much too," Steven said as he hugged and kissed her back, so excited at the news.

"Well, that's up to Rai as well, but sure. And don't worry, Dad can help all of you," Steven told the Gems with a big smile on his face.
 
“Maybe.” Rai said teasingly.

“Would you like to hear the heartbeats?” The doctor asked and Rai nodded. The doctor moved the wand and messed with the screen. “Okay this is baby a, the one by itself.” A wushing noice was heard with the unmistakable sound of a heartbeat. “That is a good strong heartbeat.”
 
Steven also nodded and he began listening to the heartbeat. He had a big happy grin on his face while he noted the attention the Gems were giving.

He looked at the screen. His kids. How time flew. Yet Steven was becoming a strong exemplar of a young man.
 
“Wow.” Rai said holding Steven’s hand with tears in her eyes. “That’s our baby’s heartbeat!”

“That’s amazing.” Pearl said.

“What’ll be even more amazing is the 3D ultrasounds later on in the pregnancy because you’ll be able to see the baby’s features and see who they take after more.”
 
"I know," Steven said with a soft smile, having a similar teary-eyed expression like Rai. Garnet just had that soft smile on her face as she looked.

"Wow... that's pretty cool actually," Amethyst said as she was looking at the screen with an amazed look.
 
The doctor moved the wand, saying, “and here is the first twin, baby b.” This heartbeat was a bit faster but just as strong.

Rai covered her mouth and began crying. “This is amazing.” She said.
