"We still don't know how the thing worked with Rose though. Steven does look alot like Greg but also a little bit like Rosa too," Amethyst said, confessing her lack of knowledge and her curiosity on the matter.

"Steven was a small baby when he was born so I think it'll be the same for them," she added while Steven was also in thought about it.
 
“My family tends to have big babies. The smallest full term baby was like 24.5 inches long and 9 pounds while the biggest was almost 30 inches and I wanna say 12 pounds. I was only 1 pound 12 ounces and like 8 inches because I was premature. All of us quints were small but I was the smallest, and Dennis and Alice were big when they were born.” Rai explained. “But we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”

“I thought Steven was small, but you were just tiny.” Pearl remarked.

“I was born a fighter, at least that’s what my mom said.” Rai smiled a bit. “Apparently I grabbed my mom’s finger and wouldn’t let go while I was still in the incubator.”
 
"Oh geez, that sounds crazy," Steven said with a large shocked look on his face. "Though big babies don't always mean they will be big when they're adults," Steven noted in response as he too was wondering about all of this.

"Man, human stuff like this is confusing. Then again, I suppose it's better than just being grown from the dirt," Amethyst ntoed, making a little jab at the oriign of Gems.
 
“Ask any woman who’s given birth and I guarantee she will say that she wishes she could have just pulled the baby out of the dirt instead of pushing it out of her.” Rai said. “Labor can last days and it’s excruciatingly painful, at least that’s what I’ve been told.”
 
"Yeah, but isn't that just because you haven't figured out a way to make it less painful?" Amethyst asked while scratching her hair. "Can technology eventually do that?" Steven wondered out loud.

"I figure eventually," Diego noted after some quiet thinking.
 
“Women can be given pain killers.” Rai notes. “And I recently read an article that scientists have created an artificial womb that really just looks like a giant ziplock bag. But it’s not meant to replace womb, just mimick the conditions to increase the survival rate of premature babies.”

“Do they know if it works?” Pearl asked

“I can’t remember if it’s sheep or goats they’re testing it with but apparently it’s increased the survival rate of the premature babies.” Rai answered. “I think it’s kinda like an incubator on steroids.”
 
"Wait, is Rai gonna come with us to check out Atlantis? Peridot said that progress was going faster than expected," Amethyst noted.

"Yeah, Greg found out through his cousin that an old military aquaintance was trying to find where to donate an old submarine and it was sent here to Beach City. Despite it being "an antique," as Peridot put it, she really liked it in terms of how to use it to deal with pressure for going udnerwater," Diego explained.
 
“No,” Rai answered shaking her head and her hand on her stomach, “I’m not gonna risk it in my condition.” She wrapped an arm around Steven, “but I have this guy tomorrow, so we can tell our dads, but after that y’all can whatever y’all want.”

“We still have to get the submarine.” Pearl commented.
 
"All right, that makes sense," Diego said before he saw Steven wrap an arm around Rai as well. "So tomorrow is when we tell our dads then?" Steven asked for clarification.

"At least we will now know what to expect. Rose did not deal with very many if any of the side effects human women had with birth," Garnet noted.
 
“Yeah I was planning on doing it tomorrow.” Rai wrapped her other arm around Steven and kissed him. “Wanna go see if we can get in at Planned Parenthood to see the babies?” She asked.

“I doubt that Rai will have a pregnancy similar to Rose’s.” Pearl said in thought. “It will probably be closer to a normal human pregnancy.”
 
"Sure okay," Steven said with a smile as he kissed her back. However, he then thought of an idea. "Can the Gems come with us?" Steven asked Rai before looking at Diego. "And Diego too?" Steven added.

"Yeah though the quarter Gem physiology will make it unique," Diego noted. "Did any of you read on human pregnancy?" he asked the Gems.
 
“They come with us but I’m sure they’ll be allowed in the room.” Rai said looking up at Steven and then at everyone else. “I know that when I get an OB/GYN they’ll let others into the room. Then you can see them moving and hear their heartbeats.” She smiled at the thought of seeing all of that herself.

“I read anything I could about pregnancy.” Pearl said.

“Until we had to stop you because you freaked out over all the stuff that could happen.” Amethyst said.
 
"Yeah, all right. We should get going soon. What time is it?" Steven asked them, having forgot to put on his watch. He'd wondered if they would be open. He did hear the clinic would be having unsteady hours this week due to maintanance.

"How much did she panic?" Diego asked Amethyst.
 
Rai pulled her phone out and looked at the time. “It’s 4:30.” She stated. “We should be able to get there with some time to spare.”

“Pretty bad, but we also didn’t understand what was happening.” Amethyst explained. “Like Garnet thought Steven was some kind of fusion, I thought he was just a shapeshifter version of Rose, and Pearl thought Rose was stuck inside Steven.”
 
"All right, do you need a hand? I'm sure Steven will be happy to carry you," Diego said with a humorous smile over to Rai. Steven chuckled and blushed though he was growing to be a big strong young man and could most certainly do so. Heck, he might even be bigger than his dad.

"Well, technically speaking, Garnet had it the most right," Diego noted as he looked to Garnet. "Once I stopped worrying as much, I was able to see things would be all right," she said.
 
“I can walk by myself for now,” Rai stated slyly, “However when I’m about to give birth is a different story.” She took Steven’s hand, intertwining their fingers with a smile. She was beyond ecstatic to be carrying Steven’s children and that she was going to make him a father.

“We threw a swingset at his babysitter once coz we thought she was kidnapping him.” Amethyst said.
 
Steven chuckled and blushed a bit at the sly tone of Rai before he squeezed her hand with a smile as he looked at her. "Dad had to explain to the babysitter about that," Steven noting on what Amethyst remembered.

As they were walking toward Planned Parenthood, Diego was in some thought. "Is anything we need to take into consideration regarding the kids?" he noted as he asked the two teenagers he viewed as his younger siblings.
 
“I’ll have to take it easy for the first trimester because if a miscarriage is going to happen, it will most likely happen within the first trimester.” Rai explained. “I intend take a break from work and just relax. I don’t want stress or to be overworked. Other than that, there’s not much to do until we find out what they are and can start buying stuff.”
 
"That makes sense. I imagine you and Steven can spend some time together and planning for the future," Diego noted before smiling. "After all, Rai Universe has a good ring to it," he added while Steven just blushed heavily, yet he did not mind it at all.

"How do we know the Planned Parenthood people won't freak out?" Amethyst said. She wasn't sure if they were of Beach City or not.
 
“Steven could always take my last name.” Rai suggested jokingly. “My parents did it otherwise my name would be Rai Papadopoulos. Although Rai Universe does sound better than Steven Kostas.”

“We’ll just have to wait and see.” Pearl said calmly although she was freaking out inside.
 
"Yes it does," Diego said with a smile. However, he then went over to Pearl and squeezed her hand. He could tell she was worried and he wanted to reassure her.

"Well, I figure they'd be from Beach City. That's what Saide said," Steven noted as they saw the building in front of them.
 
“So where is this... Planned Parenthood?” Pearl asked.

“It’s not actually that far,” Rai explained, “But it’s not a very big office. There’s only like three people working there.”
 
"When, did ya'll explain Planned Parenthood to the Gems? Diego asked Steven and Rai. Steven turned to Rai. He think he mentioned it to Pearl before, but he wasn't sure how much he told her. Especially because she looked so nervous.

"Sadie said that it helped her alot," Steven added to help Pearl.
 
“It’s essentially a free clinic that provides a variety of services from abortions to prenatal care and sex education to birth control.” Rai explained. “Sadie went there when she wasn’t sure if she was gonna keep Mason and they talked to her about all of her options.”

“What do you mean ‘wasn’t sure if she was gonna keep Mason’?” Pearl asked.

“She was considering an abortion.” Rai said. “I would have supported her either way, but I can’t imagine Mason not being born.”
 
"And we're here," Diego said as he saw the building there. It was pretty small though Beach City was still pretty small so it fit somewhat. "What sort fo questions do you have for them?" Diego asked Rai as he was leading the group over them.
