He watched her as she studied the building, hoping it pleased her as much as it did him. Heâd often considered doing something like this to his own home, letting nature use it as a jungle gym. He never seemed to get around to it but maybe now that she was here, heâd talk to her about it. They moved through the gardens, looking at everything, drowning in the beauty that they saw. He smiled every time she took a picture, knowing that sheâd use them to paint the things that caught her eye. When she finally stopped and looked up, noting the placement of the sun, he nodded. âYes, we should goâ he said as he took her hand. Instantly the reddish blue haze enveloped them and they were gone from the gardens. What happened next was almost unheard of but it happened all the same. Instead of appearing in their yard, they instead appeared in what appeared to be a remote part of the city, thrown violently from the teleport to crash into the ground. Alexan lost his grip on Susan when they hit, spinning off in a different direction, the ground and dirt pummeling him. He somersaulted end over end until he came to a stop against the side of a building, the concussion almost knocking him out. Shaking off the pain, he glanced up and saw Susan sprawled on the ground away from him. Fear took hold of him immediately and he moved to her side as quickly as he could, his body screaming in protest. Ribs were clearly broken and probably more too but he ignored it all to reach her side. He knelt down, his hands pushing the hair out of her face. âSusanâ he murmured. âAre you ok?â He could tell she was hurt too but didnât know how badly. While he waited for her response, he sent his magic outward, trying to figure what happened. What he found scared him badly.
