Mugen (1×1 w/ Jikkah)

When he was gone to take the trays to the kitchen, Himari tugged at Yuko’s clothes a soft frown on her face. “Where are we going?”

"He found somewhere else for us to stay...better than this basement to be certain." She replied, "I can probably free us while we move.."

“Free us when we move, huh?” The familiar low growl of Sanemi’s voice sounded behind her, Himari’s eyes widening and quickly she moved to hide behind Yuko out of fear, clutching tightly to the back of her robes.
Sanemi stood in the open doorway, eyes trained on Yuko, a look of rage and hurt clear on his face. “You’re planning to run off?”

"Sanemi!" He could hear her heart pounding against her ribcage as she whipped around to face him, "Y-You scared me! No, I-I wouldn't do that to you! N-Not after you've been so kind! I-I was just..." She couldn't think of a lie fast enough, faltering for two seconds too long, "J-Just trying to get Himari to trust me! Y-You know how gullible kids are!" She shielded the girl regardless, knowing it was a bad lie, "I wouldn't hurt you like that, Nemi, you know me well enough...!"

He stalked toward her, shaking his head. “I’m not stupid, Yuko, I heard you.” He stopped in front of her and back-handed her hard across the face, Himari crying out in fear and concern when he knocked Yuko to the floor. “You still want to go back to the corps, you want to take my head still. So go on then, take my head, Yuko!!”

She swallowed a wail as she hit the floor, taking a moment to weigh her options before jumping up and slamming her shoulder into his gut. She tried to reach around him to get to his blade, terrified but determined.

Yuko’s attack sent Sanemi off balance, stumbling back as he brought his elbow down on her back. He restrained himself when he attacked her, not wanting to kill Yuko, but needing to use enough force to subdue her. Something caused him to trip, Himari, the girl having thrown herself around Sanemi’s legs in an attempt to help Yuko by tripping him. The young girl looked terrified, tears in her eyes, but even so she held on for dear life.

Yuko grunted when he slammed his elbow into her back, but refused to let go. Her fingers could almost get to the sheath; just a bit more and she could get it. When Sanemi stumbled, she looked in horror at Himari wrapped around his legs, "H-Himari, no, it isn't safe! Get back, please!"

Sanemi’s fist connected hard with Yuko’s cheekbone, knocking her back to the ground before kicking Himari free from his legs, sending the girl into the wall with a hard thud. She crumpled to the ground in silence, Sanemi turning his attention on Yuko again.

Yuko didn't even care about the blade or herself anymore, now more concerned with the child, "Himari!!" She struggled to push herself up enough to scramble towards the child.

Himari lay motionless on the ground, unresponsive to Yuko’s cries. Sanemi froze when he realized what had happened, scowling and turning away out of shame. “Look what you made me do..!”

She dropped beside Himari, hands shaking with her breaths, eyes beginning to blur and burn.
"H...Himari...?" She called weakly, "G-God, please..."

The little girl lay deathly still, no rise and fall of her chest, eyes empty and mouth lax. Himari had broken her neck on impact with the wall, Sanemi having used too great of force when kicking her.
Sanemi stood silent, staring at the ground with a blank look on his face, knowing the girl was dead- he could no longer hear her heartbeat. He felt little about it, more distressed that Yuko was upset than the kid being dead.

"Y-You...You killed her..." Yuko gasped out, reaching to gently close Himari's eyes before gathering her little body into her arms, giving a weak wail at how lamely she moved when Yuko held her.
"Y-You killed her...!! My God, you killed her...!! Why didn't you just kill me instead?! She was a child!!" She screamed between sobs, "Why not just kill me...?!"

Sanemi flinched at her cries, his mouth twisting into a snarl as he turned on her. “This is your fault!!” He snapped at her, pointing at her and glaring death. “You had to go for my sword! Had to plan to escape me! Why can’t you just listen and stay here?! Huh? Can’t you see I’m trying to protect you and provide for you?!”

"I don't belong here!!" She snapped back, turning to glare with raw hatred and anger, "And neither do you!! You should be dead, Sanemi!! I was better off believing that!!"

He stepped forward, grabbing her by the jaw roughly, glaring down at her. “You don’t believe that. You’re only saying that to hurt me..!” He snarled lowly.

He punched her hard in the nose, sending her tumbling back, only now she didn’t have Himari’s body in her arms anymore. Sanemi stood holding Himari by the back of her clothes, glaring at Yuko before turning and leaving with the corpse of the young girl.

"No!! No, give her back!! Sanemi, give her back!!" She sobbed, crawling on her hands and knees after him as blood poured from her broken nose.

He ignored her, leaving her in the basement alone in the deafening silence. Where was he taking her? Was he going to bury her, or eat her? The cruel uncertainty was the point, Sanemi had to punish her properly this time.

"Sanemi!!" She scrambled to the basement door and beat against it until her skin split, "Sanemi, please!! Please, give her back!! Please!! I'll do anything, just don't desecrate her!! Just give her back!!"

There was no answer, only Sanemi ascending the stairs and leaving her with her thoughts. Hours passed with no sign of him returning, allowing her worst thoughts to fester.

The door unlatched from the other side and opened, Sanemi standing there with a scowl on his face. “Get up, we’re leaving.” He said coldly, Himari’s body no longer in his arms.
