Some basic but important information
The breeding protocol was always there as a contingency plan, in case any sort of disastrous event should reduce the human population aboard the colony ship to numbers below expected viable biological diversity through free choice of partner. Even with the colony ship intact and arriving at it's intended destination there was a protocol in place by which each adult man and woman were required to produce at least two children, a third and fourth child giving the parents a financial bonus for each additional child.

The contingency plan however was a little different, firstly in that it required all males and females over the age of 15 to breed at least three children without any promise of a bonus for a fourth or fifth. The children should preferably all be conceived within no more than a year of each other.

Choice of partner for each child was a free choice but also subject to strict regulations:

1. No couple already having produced a child were allowed to produce another until they had filled the mandated quota of at least three more children.

2. If a coupled male and female did not conceive a child within 6 months they were to be assigned new breeding partners.

3. Due to lesser probability of women over forty falling pregnant they were to choose younger males with more viable sperm to breed with and vice versa, younger females with a greater probability of falling pregnant were to choose older males with less viable sperm to breed with.

4. No colonist, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, were allowed to refuse breeding. Punishment for refusing to breed or secretly using any sort of contraceptive was banishment from the colony or be forced to breed without their consent. This applied to both males and females.
the only contraceptives allowed would be condoms or diaphragms to allow husbands and wives to still enjoy sex without risking pregnancy if they already have a child between them. All other methods such as birth control pills or implants, injections and whatever else of a more permanent nature would be illegal.
  • No one should feel that they need to write non-con to fully enjoy our group.
  • Non-con scenes should be labeled as such in the thread name so those wanting to avoid, not read them have a warning.

Ah. Gotcha. Kinda like how I couldn't stop myself from quoting Hotel California in my opening post for a new story I started that begins with two siblings in a car on the road through the Mojave desert. And have my character explain the double meaning of the word colitas.

Also; Nate arriving and holding his mission briefing means that everyone going has arrived and they can depart?
Unless we are waiting on anyone else, yes. And I personally wasn't sure who else was there and who wasn't, so putting it that way was a covering my ass type of move lol

First off, you should have directed your question to the interest check. But since you are here, it's about the dilemma created by the colony ship being destroyed and the remaining survivors being subject to an emergency breeding protocol, but this is also while they attempt to build an actual colony on an alien world. Obviously, some characters have decided that the clause of the breeding protocol that says that your chosen breeding partner cannot say no is perfectly acceptable, and others would castrate anyone who rapes another colonist (my primary character is among the latter group). The fact that this has yet to actually happen despite a few non-con situations already having developed is an oversight that will be corrected the next time Nate hears about someone being assaulted :D

But seriously, if you wanna jump in, feel free, unless our semi-official game mistresses @MsBloom and @LeaT object?

I'm slightly confused, is this a dead space RP or just about breeding?

Not sure what you mean by dead space but no it is not just about breeding, although that is a major focal point. As Captain_Bond said it is also about building a viable colony able to sustain itself and grow for generations to come from no more than a few handful of surviving humans, (of which procreation is certainly an important part).

At the moment for instance a group of survivors are about to set out on an exploratory mission to investigate abandoned ruins that suggest there is, or at least has been, a civilisation already present on the world they have been stranded on.

There is also a bit of political intrigue already going on that ties in with different interpretations of the breeding protocol, and within a relatively near future at least one of the characters will suffer the consequences of his interpretation.

If you are interested in joining we can always have your character/s having had problems with the engines while still having fully functioning life support and supplies to sustain them in orbit for a few weeks, while trying to contact the other survivors.

Shoot me a pm and we can discuss it.

We also had discussed the possibility of cryo-pods having survived the destruction of the colony ship, perhaps even an entry into the planet's atmosphere and subsequent landing. Although I'm not really clear on the viability of anything beyond surviving the destruction of the ship.

We did. Perhaps one of our communication specialists or pilots could pick up a distress signal. And also, perhaps the cryogenic pods have a built in remote controlled guidance system that allow the Jupiters to actually land it safely. (Too high tech?)

If we’re assuming that the pod can survive atmospheric entry, remote control seems like the lower tech part of that to me.

On its own it would crash and burn but I'm thinking there are thrusters on the pods that allow for manoeuvring them as if they were shuttles, or we could of course waste fuel and have one of the Jupiters fly up and retrieve it.

Right you are. @LeaT and I decided to switch Lea Robinson for Charles Robinson though, but yea we are waiting for one more character.
That was our plan but I think you guys should proceed with out me on this one. I don't want to hold you up any more than I already have.
