Hey there! This is an interest check for a Mass Effect RP that takes place between the events of Mass Effect 2 and 3
as the galaxy recognizes the looming Reaper threat and prepares for an intergalactic war. Instead of enjoying Commander
Shepard's story, the plot will follow the story of our crew. I am hoping that by having everyone in the same crew
that there will be plenty of opportunities for bonding moments and exciting interactions when combat comes into play.
Perhaps our dear Commander is a Renegade? Perhaps the crew is not Council-approved at all and are just a bunch of
space cowboys trying to make the galaxy a better place. We can discuss the details, but we need a crew first.

The RP will consist of original characters only and there will be a set roles that can be taken around the ship. A
Commander for sure, a doctor, a pilot, etc. It's all bare bones for now, but who would be interested in this venture?

Hey! Still here, still interested. I unfortunately don't have the attention span or the time to always be DMing for this RP, so I'd appreciate some help co-DMing or something since this was just an interest check and such.

Also, I believe our commander character has left due to personal OOC issues. We'll have to figure out what to do in that case? Maybe wait for a new Commander to come along, or if any of you want to take up the mantle, be my guest!

Okay...so if we have lost our Commander, then this will be the crew roster as it currently stands:

* Ganar Kar - Krogan/M - Captain ( <redacted> )
* Alani Liadon - Asari/F - asst. Medical Officer ( @Sync )
* Kassius Suldaning - Turian/M - Quartermaster ( @TheDecker )
* Xann - Quarian/M - Pilot ( @Silverbird )
* Sidera Nazario - Turian/F - Sensors & Comms ( @Queen Trish )
* Tayon - ???/?? - Engineer & Black Market ( @Blayze )
* BLUE - Feminine AI - Hacking & Navigation ( @minccino )
* Patrick Flannagan - Human/M - Engineer & Gunslinger ( @Vytheril )
* Rachelle Ambrosius - Human/F - Engineer, APC pilot ( @Fandomizer )
* David Flannigan - Human/M - Combat Specialist & Lead Scout ( @captain_bond )

I have no objection to Sean Flannigan being the ship commander, if Bond wants to take the role on.

It may also change the nature of the ship and crew, too - depends on what the player has in mind. We can stick with what Lord Dreamcrusher had in mind, or move to something else.

At this point, we're still going to be an Alternate Crew taking on the Reapers...we just need to figure out how.

I also don't mind if the group has a slightly-slower post-rate - just saying. :)

I did say so, didn't I? LOL

Yeah, you did. I was just confirming that, but not taking it as a fait accompli. :p

I'd suggest giving a bit of time, wait to see who's still on-board, then we can talk about how we're going to proceed.

Clearly, I'm still in. :)

I am interested for sure, but I think of Mass Effect as being a big sprawling galaxy with many options and being stuck on a ship isn't too appealing. I guess I'll have to see how it will play out. I have actually run a big space rp on here before and I learned that it's a good idea for the helm to have one guy and one girl. Doing it by myself got exhausting because there were very few others playing females.

Personally, I like the restrained scope of this being a single crew trying to do what they can. I know you were talking about a sub-board with multiple threads for different planets and such earlier, Fandomizer, but for me that sort of thing would be too much. I'd like to play out this group's story, rather than take a broader look at what's going on across the galaxy as a whole.

Anyway, I'm still on board and am happy for Sean to be the commander. @captain_bond, do you have any thoughts on how that changes the ship's dynamic? (I'm guessing we're not still an ex-Blood Pack ship full of vorcha and krogans, for example.)

I also don't mind if the group has a slightly-slower post-rate - just saying. :)

I'm also happy with a more relaxed posting rate.

As we ease into the RP, I definitely want to keep things ship-centric for a few pages just so people can feel out each other's characters and build some semblance of connection and relationship before thrusting them out into the galaxy, so to speak.

Characters are free to venture outside of their ship to do whatever they want with another character, of course, but for the sake of this being about building bonds as a crew and such, I think some private conversations in the ship would be warranted.

(Sorry for the multi-post) In fact, he could be one of the first people to try and convince the characters of the very real threat the Reapers represent.

Also, I know the character in question has already been accepted, but I am interested to see how the fact the Citadel has outlawed AI comes into play when anyone from the Alliance or the "right side of the law"--like Sean--meets BLUE.

I suppose the only canon thing we had going that affects all the characters is that they're all from less-than-virtuous backgrounds. Whether they're escaping persecution, doing time for their crimes, or just here to be a murder hobo, the crew isn't made of people that are... morally sound.

So I'm guessing the Captain should also be of such a background, or at the very least be willing to take in such a crew.

He's not against such a thing, but unless that's already part of the whole "canon" or what have you of our story, then no. He's a captain, and he needs a crew. It's as simple or as complicated as that.
Well...on the assumption that we no longer have Garn and his ship, and that Sean is the ship's CO, and further given that we haven't actually started the game yet - then I would submit that however Sean decides to put a crew together, AND what vessel he uses for that crew, will be largely up to you & Sean.

So I'm guessing the Captain should also be of such a background, or at the very least be willing to take in such a crew.
I don't think the ship's CO needs to be a background character. As long a there are a few bodies on board to look after the ship while the PCs are off and fighting/scouting/exploring/trading/whatever... then I'd be happy to accept the CO as being a PC-type.

OTOH - having a GM-controlled CO can make it a bit easier for the GM to direct the flow of the game, to an extent. :)

@Sync They meant that the captain should be a rogue, not a paladin. This would work under ideal circumstances, but circumstances are far from ideal. He is indeed willing to work with whoever will work with him, regardless of their past.

It was a friendly suggestion! It'd be way more interesting to have a paladin Captain commandeer a ship of rebels. xD

@captain_bond - Yeah, I got that. :p

Sean's not exactly a paladin, though. Although, his background as-is suggests he won't be the one supplying the ship.

However we run with the captain, I'm happy for the captain to be an NPC.

In ME2 in particular, you can play a Paragon Shepard bringing the rag-tag bunch into line through the Loyalty Missions. We can do something similar here, it you like...although maybe not so much with Loyalty Missions. ;)

On that note how do you feel about starting off with Tayon doing some repairs on BLUE? ^_^

Glad I re-sparked the conversation, I was a little concerned here and am delighted to see it is still going. :) . I am more then willing to take on the co gm role, assuming that is welcomed.

Oh, she loves getting repairs.
Tayon: Yeeees.... well... obviously you need them. xP
That's...probably a bit TMI for poor Alani. ;) She's just an innocent Asari who probably just got promoted to Ship's Doctor (and I'm fine with that). :)

I did note you offered to co-GM, and I have no problem with that - I just didn't want to speak for you on that one.

But if @minccino is happy to work with you to get this moving, it works for me. *nod nod*

As long as someday she gets to have the hilarious conversation of getting a fleshlight implant, I'm happy. xD

@TheDecker I'd love to have you as a co-DM to move things along when I'm absent! I think we can actually get started, and I can make the appropriate subthreads now.

Tayon is not gonna be interested in sex for a while. They're.... far too professional and the crew is too pedestrian for their tastes xP

You're right. I'm gonna change him from a Marine Captain to a Naval Commander, with access to the shipyards and all the rest. Instead of our ship already being established, how about--because the Citadel/Alliance won't budge on the Reaper threat, and he's disillusioned with them as a result and he hasn't a crew to help him with this--he STEALS an Alliance scout ship?? Not like the Normandy, mind you, but something suitably sleek. Does anyone object to that??

Tayon could certainly assist in the arrangement of an Alliance ship going.... missing if that would suffice Captain?

That's one!! I would prefer for everyone to be "on board" with how I am suggesting our story "takes off", cause as we know, it only takes one person to "sink a ship."

I'll go sit in the corner now :p
