Lost in Space OOC

Pairings look good to me too Lea. I believe that Theo would most likely want to speak with Kat before any breeding happens just to get a few things of his mind to her, even Allen as well.

Pairings look fine to me as well. Jodi is I guess the only real option for Allen if a younger-older crossing is the desired outcome of the first round.

Does it make sense, once everyone has sort of bought in, to play non - sequentially.

Like Allen and Kat might be working on a baby just now, so we don’t want Theo to have to wait for everyone to work through the next nine months or so of in RP time before he “gets his turn.”

Keep in mind I'm also keeping writers in mind for those with multiple characters so they aren't writing both characters with the same writer each. It seemed like a reasonable pairing. There are lots of constraints, I'm open to suggestions but can't guarantee they will work.

Once the group accepts the rules IC, there will be medical checks and pregnancy tests so it won't be a surprise and we will shuffle accordingly. They can't afford to make anyone wait, they gotta start makin' them babies!

I'm thinking we will need to set a time goal for the first round. Sort of like write all you want between now and such and such date on the real calendar. That way people that write a lot can have at it, and people that are more casually paced can adjust accordingly. Some like to write out every thrust and nibble, some like to summarize. You'll just have to work it out with your partner.

I don't think we can have half the group working on baby #3 and other still working on the 1st.

Triplets would be ideal :p But happy with whatever really. And I don't have any issues with pregnant sex either.

I'm glad to see everything is still here after the server outage. I was afraid we might have lost some of the story. I'll have my delayed post up in a bit.

Hopefully we will get to the lactation/milking part too, without too much people opting out. :)
I wouldn't be against if 'dr. Smith' was somehow made to help out by providing milk in quantity....

It seems we lost some notification about posts though. I didn't have any about new posts to this thread for instance.

Should that happen the solution is to simply conclude that they have both performed their breeding duties in the first round and switch Theo for Allen as Jodi's partner.

Certainly a kink worth discussing. It isn't a strong kink of mine but I can certainly play in that area for something like this, I've rarely RP'd it so the novelty alone is worth it.

Most women are less fertile during breast feeding, though it is by no means a contraceptive. I don't know if we want to add the complexity of ovulation and fertile cycles into the story, where only some women are available for breeding at any one time. I'm game but can also live without the complexity.

I left a middle column in the pairings where we could track things like who is pregnant and/or fertile at any particular point in the story.

Just to keep us on track, how does everyone feel about playing out the aftermath of the meeting until Friday this week? We then try to implement the "Rules" for the weekend.

Too long, too quick? We can kind of think of it as Chapter 2. I haven't heard about the Sub-Forum and in the aftermath of a pretty big outage, I'm a little shy about bothering the staff. Though with or without the sub-forum, we are going to need to sort of keep in sync chronologically, and keep things moving.

We don't need to make the female fertility cycle quite as complex as it can be for some, if we assume that all females, even the teens and the older ones that are approaching menopause, are regular.
For example: It was 14 days since Kat's last period and she had been feeling bloated and had had mild cramps in her lower abdomen all morning. It was time again and she picked up the radio and called up Theo, arranging for him to meet her at the shag shacks as the separate buildings intended for privacy during breeding were called.

It could work but it might also be a bit long. In the end it all depends on how frequently everyone can post and respond to other posts.

I must confess I a a bit confused about these sub-forums if anyone would care to explain them to someone who still mostly use her phone as just that, a phone and her lap top for writing and browsing for information.

Also. Something I noticed earlier when going back a bit to the start of the roleplay; there appears to be some narrative discrepancies in what time of day the meeting was held. Some narratives suggest it was held in the morning while most seem to agree that it was held in the evening. Perhaps we should clarify and also maybe have some sort of chronological marker in the header as well.

Some idea on what the time of the meeting would be good, what we could add in is a time stamp underneath or even above the location just to let everyone know what time it is. Just for a thought. If Kat has become pregnant with Allen I'm happy to have Theo knock up other women as well. No issues there whatsoever. I don't have much limits and nothing bothers me, but have much respect for others in this case. You all can always pm me for questions for Theo as well.

Let's say the meeting was early evening and it is just starting to get dark as it was breaking up. I think this works for most of the IC discussion so far. So we should be writing about ending our evening.

I considered maybe having the kids decide to stay at the Stevensen's and present a united front against the adults the next day. Any thoughts?

@MsBloom below is a link to a sub-forum for a group RP. They have made various 'child' threads based on location and whatnot.

So for us that would mean like maybe one subforum for each Jupiter, one for each shag shack, the woods, the lake and so on?

That was my thought. Ironically, I think we already have more posts in our one thread than that story has collectively. It doesn't help us with the time element but it would with location.

Kind of a challenge on how much real time to commit to wrapping up this evenings activities. We could potentially use Thradmarks to control time, either as 'chapters' or just label them. I'm open to ideas but can probably figure something out.

A suggestion for the subforums though. I think for the sake of narrative continuity we should only have subforums for the stuff that goes on behind closed doors, so to speak, and for long distance exploration, the shag shacks, Dr Smith's office (for counselling and therapy), Dr Robinson's office (for medical examination and such) along with the woods, the lake and so on. The rest of the narrative I think should be kept in one thread with tags the way we have it now (adding an in game time stamp somehow)

Just a thought.

I added some threadmarks to the main thread. "Top Post" is still there but I added something like "Meeting Begins - Early Evening" and "Meetings begins to Break up - Evening"

See if that helps. The challenge will be, when is this night over? I'm thinking the next threadmark would be to start the next morning, but maybe that is too neat.

I believe at the bottom of the last post there is a button for Threadmarks, it is sort of a table of contents thing, but I think as the OP I'm the only one who can add them.

Let's give the players a few posts to wrap up their evenings and go to bed first and then once everyone seems to have settled in you can start the next morning.

I think for 'office' or even living quarters, dr. Smith would be either given a permanent room onboard a Jupiter, or keeping those to the families, she would be put up in a new shack... they called 'shag shacks' just after that fact. But also, the other non-family members couldalso be given their own shacks - and basically have frequent visitors?

With the fertility/lactation circles, that is why having dr. Smith (who is either found out, or just tries to cover herself as a herm and with low/no fertility) used more for getting milk than to have any of the women ever focus on it (unless any of the players want to give it more focus, of course). [But it is also possible that there is a need for milk or milk products, and they have no other way to get it from mammals (to provide essential proteins, extra calories from fats, as well as vitamins and minerals even without extra fortification) or make it from plants (as they would need growing time and fortified by additives in the making process)]

I think keeping track of the time and day could be somehow tied to how much real time it takes, so maybe every IRL day is third of a day? At least at first, then later just the opposite, we can make it speed up by saying three ingame days will be past in the next 24 hours, or even faster, saying we go through the next week/month in this weekend....

Here are some Jupiter layouts that I think could work for us. I'll add them to the top post later today. Some names need changed but basically a master bedroom and 3 smaller cabins for 'kids' or extras. Lots of other spaces to sneak away, at least before the shag shacks go up.
