My Girlfriend Cosplays Supergirl (w/KiraMusani)

Noel panicked and started to change out of her dress.
"No Kara, you don't get it, I can't lie to my parents, I can't! Why do you think I have just been avoiding them this whole time?" She was able to get out of the dress rather quickly though not in the proper way and then slipped on the sweat pants followed by the matching shirt.
"So what are we going to jump out the window or something? Then what, do we leave? where are we going?" She asked still in a panicked state as she finished dressing.

Nina crossed her arms.
"I have no idea who you are girl. Now how about someone explains what exactly is happening here?" She said raising an eyebrow at Tabby before looking back to the others.

Jeff stepped up and cleared his throat.
"Mom dad this is Candy, she is a singer, and I am her band's manager. And before you say anything, they already have a large fan base and no it's not just some kids from their school. They are well known here" He held his hand up to stop what was clearly going to be a statement by them.

"Fine Jeff that is very nice but where is your sister?" Nina asked forcing the subject back.

"I just got back as well, But I know the Zorel's have come to care for her so she would be safe," Jeff reassured.

Candy nodded and then asked, "Say Pat... Is Kara here?"

Pat looked at Lenard, before worriedly at the big mammoth of a man. "She's also been good for Kara, kicked her ass into gear, taking exercise more seriously. Who do you think she's jogging with? Though they should be coming home any minute."

Candy nodded then turned her back to the parents. She whispered to Jeff, "something feels off about this. Did you see Tabby just now?" She then went to sit in the living room on the couch. Ever the astutest when coming to tones, including cat screeching.

Upstairs, Kara shook her head. "Nothing so dire as that. Watch and learn. You noticed the light switch in here that said for emergency use only?" She flipped the switch and the back panel slid back, revealing rear steps down to a door on the lower level. "And remember how the first floor bathroom is a little bit closer in towards the living room. The hall down there doesn't seem to be as long? I told you, Detective Andersen will be waiting for us at the door." She pointed to the bottom of the stairs. "That door." They would start quietly down the thin steps and at the bottom, the door opening triggered the closet panel to shut.

Christine took both of them into a group hug. "Hey girls. I'm usually really by the book, but I'm actually scared for both of you, this time. You'll be with me the entire time. Quickly now, around front." They saw Dr. Brinker ring the doorbell, and announce herself, and Penny as Detective Brown.

Upon entering, she noticed the attitudes of the parents, but didn't show it. "As you heard, I'm Dr. Brinker. Since I'm the police therapist for officers that suffer from some of the same issues your daughter does, I gladly took the case when it was offered. This is Detective Brown, one of three on your daughter's case regarding the crime. One of her other partners saw two figures jogging this way and went up to meet them. However, before she gets in here and starts on the case, I do need to let you know that her diagnoses has been altered as a lot of what her previous doctor both wrote and did had actually worsened some of her symptoms. I have a video they filmed at the hospital, of some of what happened to her while there. I will say this is graphic, and explains better than I can ever hope to about the cause of her PTSD and social anxiety. I asked Detective Andersen to keep the girls outside while I show you how she was... 'treated' for the wrongly diagnosed schizophrenia by the very doctor who was to help her."

"Excuse me." Pat got up. "I can't watch that again."

Brinker nodded. "I understand Pat. You couldn't make it through the first time. Jeff. Why don't you take Pat and the pop star out in the yard to visit with the detective and the girls back from their jog. Please." She looked at the two actual parents. "I will also remind you, I'm outpatient. I had nothing to do with what you're about to see. It was in with her paperwork when I got her files and case. The cases are still under investigation and the one is awaiting trial. If you look closely, you'll see this is from the other side of the state at the mental facility she was in up until about a year ago." She hit play, hoping Noel's parents had an inkling of compassion.

Jeff shook his head, the cat had been the last thing on his mind, more so trying to keep up with What the Zorels plan was. Besides, when he first met the same Cat it was not his biggest fan.

Noel nodded then dropped her jaw as the secret door opened.
"What? you have a secret exit, that is crazy, you really are like a superhero. So cool" Noel's face lit up, temporarily distracted from the situation with that revelation.

Noel hugged her back looking back at the door.
"I never even noticed that door before." She mumbled to herself. Though her attention was brought back to the proper place as Christine spoke.
"I can't lie to my parents, what if they ask me things? are we going to hide from them?" Noel asked back in a panicked state.

Jeff took Candy and Pat out.
"So Pat, what exactly is on that tape? What did they do in there? If you can actually say, if not it's okay I'll just as Lenard later" Jeff asked curiously.

"A video? we asked to see her nearly every day while she was there, and when she left we wanted to know what happened, they said it was all classified," Nina explained as they sat to watch the video.
"That court-appointed quack, I told you we should have fought harder to get someone I vetted" her Father added, getting a shush from Nina.

As the video went on she placed her hands over her mouth.
"Oh, my poor baby. How could they do that to her?" Nina said as they watched.

"Those bastards, Oh I am going to sue that doctor, the hospital, and that freaking court that mandated this whole damn thing!" Her father stated angrily pulling his phone out.

Outside

Christine shook her head. "If Brinker is doing what she planned to do, and admonishes your parents about asking a lot of personal, aka nosy, questions, and explains your actual diagnosis, Noel, and they have the heart you told her they do... They may be more subdued with any questions. What you can't talk about, but I, Penny and Allison, right. Dr. Brinker to you. Can, is the rape case. Oh oh." She pointed to a visibly shaking Pat. "She warned about the tape..."

Pat shook her head at Jeff. "It's horrible. Noel's old doctor was a sadist. That's all I can say without getting physically sick. I thought hospitals like that were closed down back in the 80s." She noticed Christine with the girls. "Hey girls. Chris."

The detective came over with the girls, still talking to Noel. "The rape case you can't discuss. Just the detectives and your therapist can. And even some of that we aren't allowed to disclose even to family or acting family yet. Everything else, use common sense. You are an adult, so what you and Kara do or don't do is none of their business. How the Zorels treat you, your friends you've made, school, sports... That, yes."

Pat took a breath and composed herself. "Listen to Chris... Erm... Detective Andersen, Noel, if you're not sure... Look to one of the detectives or Doc Brinker or your brother. They'll be in there with you." She looked sadly to Jeff. "Jeff, kiddo... I know you're not a kid, but I am biologically old enough to be your mom. I've been married to Lenard almost 20 years.... Anyway, you can ask Brinker to see it, in her presence, if you're made of pretty strong stuff. Trust me. Lenard sat through it all, but admitted later it all but broke his heart, and he had to turn away more than once."

Inside

Brinker put a hand up. "Remember. I did say cases. So far, the FBI hasn't asked to talk to Noel yet, and as you saw, it's pretty open and shut; they may only want to take statements from the victims. There's enough hard evidence to shut down the hospital among various charges, against individuals. The lawsuit is a great idea, and there's a law firm already involved in that." She reached into the briefcase pocket behind the laptop. "Here's their name and number to get your names on the lawsuit. You may have to wait a while, as with any case, the criminal case is first." She handed the card to Mr. Sterling. "You're not going to get anyone right now as it's seven in the evening on a Saturday. Pacific time. Hours are there on the card. Call these people first thing Monday. Your daughter has already been provided a lawyer for the other case that happened here, through the very young woman you just met. Candace Popovich. Maybe you heard of her now; even I heard of the Duluth Singing Popovich Family. She's done a lot of live shows and her debut album, Candy Pop Goes Solo, goes on sale this Wednesday. Not that important... And it's not up to me to give you the lawyer in charge of your daughter's case. I'm just in charge of her mental stability, now. I will say this. From talking to her the last four weeks, I see no reason she should have been on any medicine. Counseling has been best, so far. Real counseling. I ask you be careful what you ask about and how quickly. She still can be overwhelmed with two much at once. The social anxiety was the only diagnosis the court appointed doctor had spot on." Brinker met Sterling's eyes to indicate that some of how she was brought up contributed to her anxiety and lack of social skills. It wasn't n out and out blame look, just enough for him to think about how he raised Noel, to see if he could see how the little public social interactions wasn't a good thing. (Keeping her separate, all martial arts, home schooling, everything already mentioned canonically) Closing up the briefcase, she said, "You must understand that the detectives and I do have to sit in on your visit. Jeff is more than welcome to join so you can visit with both. Candy, being part of both lives but not your family, and the Zorels, although taking care of Noel's needs and providing stable environment are your discretion."

Noel seemed overwhelmed as would be expected from her.
"Wait I am going to have to talk to them? I, I can't lie to my parents, I can't! I don't like lying as it is to anyone" She admitted looking down at her hands and she clenched them to her chest.

"What? a video? my doctor? If this video is of my shouldn't I decide who gets to watch it? And shouldn't I get to see it?" Noel asked once they had finished discussing it.
"And I can't tell them about me and Kara. I am sorry Love you know it's nothing to do with you of course. It's just then they would know I like girls. I can't tell them that. And please no one else say anything either." Noel asked talking with a nervous shaking in her voice, reaching for and hugging Kara as she tried to explain to her why she didn't want to tell her parents about them.

The father crossed his arms and let her finish before speaking up before Nina could.
"Listen I have my own lawyers that can take it from here, I have done a full re-hiring since the atrocity that was the steve boys case. And with the co-operation from your people, we can have this cleaned up much faster. Just let us take Noel back home where she belongs and then this family does not need to babysit any longer. She can finally come home where she should have been this whole time. She will be safer there, now when is she set to arrive?" He asked in an authoritative tone.

Penny, at that moment, went and got Christine. "It's going south. Zorels or Jeff. Get. Noel's. Lawyer. We need her here. ASAP." She looked at Noel. "They want to take you home with them. This is exactly why we needed a heads up to get Rebecca here. It's doubtful now that WE'LL let them see you."

At that moment, all the Zorels had Noel in a group hug, being both supportive and protective. Exactly what Noel needed. What's more, Lenard invited Jeff in to the grouping, once Rebecca Knight was contacted and told to get to the Zorels residence as quickly as possible.

Christine came in quickly. "She canNOT leave the city. She may be the victim, but she HAS to make EVERY court appearance WITHOUT exception or the sons of bitches that did this will get off. Do you really want SERIAL rapists out on the street?! Especially two who literally fuck their victims to death?! If they get off, who do you think they'll come after first?! She's already identified them. If you truly love your daughter, you will abide by the laws of the courts of Seattle. She is in NO danger and she HAS a lawyer. A non court appointed one. There is a law firm that is already working on behalf of the victims of the doctor and his hospital. Now, pursuing suing your city's courts is your prerogative. What is NOT, is taking your daughter God knows where. Do you REALLY think these bastards are going to care who has her?!" Christine was done ranting but not glaring.

Brinker put a hand on Christine's shoulder. She gave a look to let it go or she'd be in counseling. Looking at Mr. Sterling with a frown, "Furthermore, your daughter is 19, and an adult. She is not being 'babysat', she is being protected. Now, we could make it impossible for you to even see her and put her in police protective custody. As it is now, she has outpatient counseling every Friday. And her freedom to go jogging. By herself if she wants. If you want to go down this road, we can. But it could destroy all the progress we've made in only four sessions. It won't matter WHAT I report about no meds. I won't be her counselor anymore. We've already had one uncaring jackass state doctor. Want to have to possibly deal with a second? We have been very cordial with you so far, showing you what has caused severe damage to Noel's psyche. Locking her away from society isn't the answer. Overproduction is not the answer. Letting her be IN society and learning social skills, of which she hardly has any is. Can you not see that?"

Noel held the others back not sure what she should do or say at this point.

Mr. Sterling furrowed his brow and seemed about to say something back when Nina held a hand up to stop him.
"Wha-" He turned to talk to her.
"I think we need to just calm down. They are right Noella is an adult now, we need to talk to her and let her decide what she wants." Nina told him.
"She may be nineteen years old, but her mind is still young, she had not had a proper life thanks to that damn hospital. She needs to be with people that care for her and we have no proof that these people do." He stated.
"Yes, but we need to try and trust Noel, that she knows who she can trust after everything she has been through."
"No way, she trusted that steve psycho, and look what happened. We need to look out for her it's our job as parents" At that NIna stopped.

"Let us talk to her, and give us some privacy so we can at least make sure she is not being mistreated by people here. Then if she wants to let her come with us, we will stay at a hotel within the city and make sure she makes all her court appearances." he counter-offered.

Brinker looked to both detectives.

Christine shook her head, indicating a city ordinance that did require a police officer at least present.

Brinker countered with that only applying to flight risk defendants. Noel wasn't a defendant. She, as the doctor, still didn't like the idea of no one present. At least of the three there. As counselor, she should maintain at least a presence.

Penny actually had to agree with her, citing that although Seattle could foot the bill, at least partially, as long as there was a patrol car nearby, she didn't see any harm. But. Noel had to agree to it.

Christine was by the book dead set against this and made it known as the lead detective in the case, it went against protocol.

Brinker sighed. "I'll ask Noel how she wants to do this..."

Outside, Brinker pulled Noel to the side and asked the Zorels to stay back. She learned from Lenard Rebecca was at least ten minutes away. Taking a deep breath, she looked Noel in the eye. "There's no way out of it unless you tell them you don't want to visit. Your dad is insisting on a private conversation, however Christine is adamant about both detectives and I be present. I and Penny want to let them have it but with me as a presence but not in the conversation as a sign of good faith. There's no way we can stall another ten minutes until your lawyer gets here. They're already not happy. We've got them to admit you're an adult and should have your own choice in this. That includes whether you want to speak to them. Remember the assertiveness we just talked about the last two weeks? This is your trial by fire. Can you stick to your guns on your decision? YOU have to tell them though. We can't say 'she said' here. If it's no, you need to stick to it and stand up for yourself as an adult. Tell you what. If you can be assertive, and get them to believe and accept your decision, I'll bring you whatever you want Friday morning for our session. If it's a breakfast, you can even eat during our session. This includes talking to them with me and/or both detectives present. That is your right to have us there. It's also your right to say that you don't want to talk to them."

Hearing Noel was just outside Noel's father went to stand up but was once again stopped by NIna.
"We can't just drag her out of here, we need to let her come to us, think about it," She told him, getting a nod and him sitting back down in response.

Outside Noel nodded, taking a deep breath and hugging the others before going in with Brinker.

As Noel walked in with Brinker both her parents stood up, Nina the first one to say something.

"Noel love? Oh my goodness what did they do to your hair? Come here" She moved over to hug her.
Noel nearly immediately upon seeing them started to tear up.
"Mommy, Daddy?" She said moving to them and hugging them back.

As they all ended up in the hug the large height differences became contrasted with one another. Noel certainly was a bit of a black sheep in her family it seemed with that department.

Already the implications flew in Christine's opinion. A close inspection of that would show that it was dyed well before the Zorels came along, and it hadn't happened at the hospital. There was no they involved.

Brinker sighed and made a face at the remark by the mother. She took her stance at the door and told Christine with a shoulder grip to chill out with the by the book crap, lest she make Noel nervous. She had questions as well, especially the assumption that someone besides Noel had a hand in dying her hair. That would have to be the first thing Noel would have to confront her mom about. She and Penny stayed by the front door, showing that they were staying, but would give them privacy to an extent. She did seem satisfied with the hug, as she did know from what Noel had told her about them. This might work, as long as Noel nicely (yet assertively) corrects on all pre-conceived notions her parents throw out... Including about the hair.

Christine, however, was suspicious about the behavior, not knowing what Brinker and Noel talked about, as that was client privilege. She had asked Jeff to inform her by text the moment Rebecca showed up. Sure, she might be going over Brinker's head a little bit, but by the book meant by the book, and she was going to escort the lawyer in as soon as she got there, fearing another escape attempt by the parents without Noel agreeing to it. Her gut instincts were hardly ever wrong. She had lackadaisical Detective Johnny Legend (in His Own Mind) pegged from the moment she was partnered up with him in Australia. She had to transfer to Seattle to get away from THAT idiot... Or drongo in her native slang... And now her red alerts were working overtime on Noel's dad, especially.

Noel held her parents for a moment before replying.
"Mommy, I wasn't made to get this, I did it before I even met k- The Zorels" She explained as her mother put a hand in her hair.
"You had such lovely hair, why would you do that? you had it all cut off?" She asked clearly concerned about it.
"I... I just wanted to, I don't know, I had just gotten out of the hospital, and was trapped for so long I finally had control over something and wanted to use that" She tried to explain as best she could as she looked back on her actions.

"Oh, love, you poor thing, do not worry it will grow back. Now do not worry love mommy is here for you now. You have been through so much, we cannot take you home yet but you can come with us and stay in a hotel" She placed a hand on her cheek, Noel placing her hands over NInas.
"Wh-what? n-no Mommy I want to stay here, I like the Zorels and Kara, their daughter is umm the best friend I have ever had" She tried to explain, knowing she wasn't exactly lying, but simply not saying the whole truth.

"But Honey, we are your parents, you don't want to stay with us?" She asked, making Noel hesitate, not wanting to disappoint her parents.

Brinker took a deep breath after Noel had asserted herself. She nodded slightly, hoping Noel might see. This is where she needed to stick with her guns and reaffirm what she just said. There were plenty of reasons besides Kara that Noel could use. Not the least of all was she was a starting point guard for the high school basketball team she was a part of. Something surely the Sterlings would be proud of, and confirm what Brinker had said about Noel only needing real counseling, which she was obviously getting if she made the team, and a starter at that.

Christine frowned and looked at her watch, ten minutes weren't up yet, but she just didn't like Noel not having the backup. She also hoped the lawyer brought the reports and other paperwork for the rape case and how important Noel was to putting the guys behind bars. She didn't feel like that had sunk in. She noticed Noel's pause and looked over with an eyebrow raised. She really hoped Brinker knew what she was doing, trusting Noel to stick to her answer.

Noel looked down and placed a hand on her chest.
"I, mommy, it, it's not like that," She told herself internally that she had to remember what she wanted, she loved Kara and she knew life here and she had to do all she could to hold onto that.
"I want to stay here, I feel for the first time that I am free and really happy. I have a basketball team I'll be on, I have friends. Please Mommy don't make me leave." She asked her getting a surprised look from both of her parents.

At this moment Jeff entered the room with the rest of the party that was outside, staying by the door as he waited for their backup.
Nina looked around the room at the others, seeing how they all looked at them.
"Okay Noella, if it's what you want. And you and Jeff both feel it's what is right, you can stay."
"What but she is just-" Her father started to argue but then had a finger held up to him by NIna.
"We need to trust that Noel can make her own choice. Even if bad or good, she needs to learn" She explained, getting a sigh and a nod from him.
"But you can be certain if she is hurt again, there will be hell to pay and it will fall on all of your heads.

Christine probably took the deepest breath of all of them. "As the most by the book of the three detectives assigned to her case... You can't imagine how relieved I am to hear that. Rest assured, if anything besides any expected basketball injuries happens... I'll be on them at the drop hat.*" She glanced at Jeff, who probably had no idea what the Aussie born detective could have meant by that. "You'll back me up if it comes to that?"

Brinker was next. "And I trust, Noel, you'll call me immediately, right? Not that I expect anything like that will happen as you've been here already a month?"

(*-at the drop hat = quickly)

Jeff knew a similar phrase that meant the same thing and nodded.
"You got it, at the drop of a hat."

"Well, you better let us know lickity split if anything happens, either jeff or yourself." Her Father demanded.

Candy looked back and forth between the detective and her manager/nutritionist. "Oh, come now you two. You don't really think the Zorels be guilty of something shady?" As is the most of the time, the pop star was blissfully ignorant of what the two were doing (appeasing the parents).

Christine chose to ignore the pop star, but grinned at Jeff thinking she had someone she could relate to, "By jingoes, mate, you get me! Aces! I'll ring you should the need arise and you can text or ring them. Fair dinkum?" She put a hand out for a shake.

Pat just looked at Jeff. "I didn't know you spoke Aussie (pronounced Ozzie) slang. Good onya, no wonder you had Tie Me Kangaroo Down in your karaoke list on your phone!"

Candy grinned, "My, Jeff, you're just full of surprises. I'm definitely going to have you in full charge of putting together an Australian tour now since you know the lingo! Let's take the European one first, though, and come back for a break first."

Jeff chuckled and shook her hand before looking to Candy.
"Heh, it's not all that crazy, I knew an Ozzie guy in a school I went to, he taught me the basics but I still get mixed up when you go full out on it. I also knew a Scottish lad and an Irish man, they all butted heads a lot but were drinking buddies." He explained also tossing Candie's previous comment aside to explain later.

Noel looked at them.
"I agree with Candy, I don't think the Zorels would do anything to hurt me." She seemed to also not quite catch on.

"Right, well I guess you want to stay here tonight then?" Her father asked Noel who gave a sympathetic nod in response, clearly feeling bad about it.
"Well if you need anything, here is the number we have now." He handed her his business card.
"I only have one phone but we will answer your call anytime." He told her before standing up.
"We should go, it's getting late." He stated the time for the final guest to arrive closing shortly.

Christine nodded after shaking hands. "Word to the wise, then, don't get me riled up or munted, ay? I revert to my native tongue. You won't understand me." She then nodded to Mr. Sterling. "If you're sure you don't want to at least meet Noel's lawyer..." A vehicle pulled behind the Sterlings' car. "Since she just arrived." She shook her head. "Seattle traffic, amirite?" She heard Jeff and nodded. "About right. There was a Scot on the force in Melbourne. Would always be in a barney if not start one. Never been legless myself, I've got enough self control. Have been pissed. He'd not just get pissed... Oi! I actually had to put him in the cooler one time."

"Heh, I will keep that in mind, don't poke the kangaroo" He smirked with a chuckle.

Noel and Jeff's parents looked at each other then nodded.
"Okay, but I am still going to get my own lawyers on this, they will be in contact with him once I get his info" Her father stated.
"Or her info" Nina added.

Christine gave a single nod, "Bonzo idea, mate." She smiled at Jeff before seeing Rebecca hustling toward them. "Dumb wookie on tour with some band out of town, decided to pull a Minnesotan and near caused carmageddon on the main thoroughfare. Never a traffic cop not tied up around when you need one." Her Canadian accent was particularly heavy, heavier than when Jeff saw her last. "I digress. You must be the Sterlings. Pleasure. Rebecca Knight. I'm your daughter's lawyer for her case. And since she is the prosecution's main witness, I'm working hand in hand with the state prosecutor's office. If you have about fifteen minutes or so, I can give you a brief outline of our plans, and how important Noel is TO the prosecution." If the parents stay patient throughout Rebecca's explanation without rushing her through some of the intricacies of the case, they'll be done in less than the scheduled fifteen minutes, and Sterling will see that this lawyer knows what the hell she's doing... As if she's had experience defending a victim of a heinous crime while simultaneously helping the prosecution perform a slam dunk against the perpetrator. He'd have nothing to worry about with Rebecca on his daughter's side.

Noel's father stood tall as she came in and asked for their time to explain.
"Well I am sure that you are-" He started to replied when Nina held her hand up.
"Let's at least hear her out, go ahead miss, and nice to meet you as well," She said allowing Rebecca to explain.

Once she was done Noel's father was rubbing his chin.
"Alright, you know what you are doing, I'll give you that, but here" He pulled out a card and offered it to her.
"Call this number and fill them in, if you don't want them involved at least include them as consultants" He offered.

Rebecca accepted the card but gave a curiously raised eyebrow, only wondering silently why more lawyers would be needed. That would be akin to having too many cooks. Everyone knew how that always turned out. There was even an adage about it. She put it in her briefcase while pulling out her own. She handed it over. "Fair's fair. Here's mine. Yes, that is a Duluth area code, and that's the law firm I'm with. Since my specialty is victims of violent crimes, this one was right up my alley. I'm confident we'll put these two away for a long time once it actually goes to trial. The hearing, which is only the perpetrators and the lawyers is scheduled for Tuesday. I would rather speak directly to you as the parents and not their lawyers, as to the outcome, which should be favorable in going to trial. The evidence is staggering against them. The charges against Noel may actually be thrown out and we'll be able to focus solely on prosecuting them and not defending her or her integrity."

The parents, having heard during the fifteen minutes, would know what she was talking about, since the perps had upped the ante to bring (laughable) charges against Noel, forcing Rebecca and the prosecution team to also have to defend their star witness that any person, little alone lawyer, could see were a last ditch ploy to shed doubt on the prosecution. Rebecca didn't even mention, nor would she need to, the frivolous lawsuit. The criminal charges were a joke. But it would explain why Christine, Robert and Penny were around more.

Rebecca turned to Jeff next. "Not a word to the Zorels or your sister, Jeff. By Tuesday morning at the hearing, that shouldn't even be an issue. Anyone with a working brain can see how trumped up it is. They'll be facing a separate trial for filing false charges, to be started after the rape trial." She turned back to the parents. "That one, although it won't involve your daughter, might be the one we could use a consultant or two on. Their shyster lawyer may not have a prayer on the rape case, but he could twist things around since his clients will be accused of making false claims. Most of that is circumstantial. We have DNA proof and witnesses on the rape case. We may have in writing what they are alleging, but..." She shook her head. "We're going to focus on Noel's testimony and the DNA evidence. We might not have to worry about the other. It'll be moot with a conviction in the former, especially if the other charges being claimed are thrown out as expected, Tuesday. I'll reiterate. You can be outside the courtroom Tuesday to get the results. Just not inside during the hearing."

(I explained there was a method to my madness of the police detectives hanging around besides protection of Noel. Now you know. And only Jeff and the parents do and is not to mention it to Noel to keep her from worrying. Nothing will come of it as you'll see when we reach Tuesday)

Mr. Sterling would take the card and place it back into his pocket after looking at it for a moment and nodding.
"Tuesday, we will be there. And given what you told us I would certainly hope that any charges against my daughter get thrown out, she is most clearly a victim in all this. Though that did not stop them from putting her in that place last time."

Nina interjected.
"Yeah, we thought what you believe now going into that case, It was ridiculous, it will be thrown out. We are just worried that all that terribleness will happen again. I couldn't bear to see my little girl go through that again."

Jeff nodded and did a zipping his lip motion, indicating he would not say anything.

Outside:
Noel looked toward the door as she held Kara's hands, ready to let go at a moment's notice if her parents walked out.
"What do you think they are talking about?" she asked nervously.

Rebecca nodded. "As her defense, I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen." She sounded confident, yet not cocky. More like she was trusting the wheels of justice as well as hers and the prosecution's abilities.

She was satisfied with Jeff's miming action, and gave him a nod. "If you'll allow me to walk you to your car, since I'm right behind you?" She offered the Sterlings cordially.

Kara didn't know what to say, all she could do was give a feeble shrug; and it wasn't long after that Rebecca reappeared, followed by the parents.

"Sure, let's go then" Mr. Sterling nodded and walked behind her out of the house.

Once Noel saw them walking out she released Kara quickly.
"Hey, mommy, Daddy.." She looked at them and they walked over.

"You sure you don't want to come with us?" Nina asked one more time.
"Y-yes Mommy, I like it here, and I love you both but, I want to be here right now." She replied trying to stay strong but clearly having some trouble.

With a sigh, she nodded.
"We love you too my little one." She hugged her and then stood up and let Noel hug her father before they both went to their car and got in.
