My Girlfriend Cosplays Supergirl (w/KiraMusani)

Never to be one to take the full credit, Lenard waved them off. "The difference this time is I followed my grandmother's recipe to the letter. That is actually her grandmother's as our roots go back to Prussia. Grandmother did modernize it with the coconut. What was before has been lost to the ages."

Pat couldn't help herself as she shook her fork at each person around the table. "And let that be a lesson to you, ladies and gentlemen, to always follow the recipe's directions to the letter. It's written out that way for a reason!" She was both teasing and serious.

Lenard blushed. "Undoubtedly. But by the 40s or 50s, coconut was the in thing for German chocolate. Apparently.

Kara, Betty and Candy couldn't help but giggle as Stephanie rolled her eyes.

Stephanie was the one to speak, however. "As a general rule, you follow old family recipes, and don't omit something important, or short change it. I'm thinking that's what Mrs. Zorel meant."

Pat just nodded.

"Yeah, I guess it's like sticking to tradition, though sometimes it is necessary to change, like if coke used coke in their pop before, happy that is changed," Noel spoke up.

Pat picked up on where it looked like Noel was going with that. "That's a very good point. You have to keep in mind the times. That was when it (cocaine) was used as a medicine. When Coca-Cola first came out, it was touted by it's inventor as a tonic. In many Sherlock Holmes stories, the original ones, he's described as shooting it into his arm by needle. We've learned since Victorian times, we and the medical profession have learned just how dangerous and addictive that drug has become."

"Y-yeah that" Noel nodded happily, knowing that pat knew what she meant and helped her explain it more clearly.
"But for the most part, plenty of recipes should definitely stay the same as long as there isn't a case like that." She added.

Stephanie shrugged. "Sometimes families update recipes to the modern take moreso to a loved recipe from becoming too old fashioned. Heck, Mom's done some of that with some of her American family recipes. She actually has this spaghetti and meatballs that's now spaghetti and meat sauce that actually seemed to have a more modern Old World taste now, like literally out of an Italian family restaurant. It's incredible."

"Speaking of... I need two washers for tonight that aren't named Betty, Kara, Noel and Stephanie." Pat stated.

"Wait. Why am I not allowed to help with the dishes?" Betty asked surprised.

Lenard stopped his wife with a look that said he had that one. "Because you taught Noel how to serve waitress style. You helped with dinner."

Betty sighed, glanced at Stephanie and Noel both with a question of How was that really helping?, of which Steph had no answer and merely shrugged, before looking to see if Noel understood how Betty just teaching could exclude her from the dishes.

"umm, I guess, since you assisted me, you did technically help with the dinner set up, not the cooking but the setting of the table at the very least" Noel replied, offering a guess.

"Hey, none of those names are mine" Jeffery offered.

Steph nodded as Betty let out a sound that seemed as an agreement of sorts of the explanation. It seemed mixed with a hum. "I guess that makes sense..."

Pat smirked as she looked at Jeff. "That means you can volunteer to help... But if I don't hear another peep from the rest of the table, I'll let you volunteer someone. Like maybe Calla." She thought Antwan had volunteered to do the breakfast dishes once, which consisted mainly of coffee cups (she'd be right), but didn't remember Calla doing anything yet, acting like some ginger haired royal that was above menial tasks (she'd be right on that, too).

Calla gave a look that did seem a bit standoffish towards Jeff as if saying Don't you dare.. Candy glared across the table at her. "Be a polite houseguest, Mondale."

Jeffery smirked and raised a brow.
"Calla would be a splendid partner, if no one else volunteers that is" He stated crossing his arms, seeing if anyone would try and 'save' her from this.

Lenard looked at his watch as Calla glared at her fellow band mates, two of which were excused as Antwan confirmed that he had indeed done that morning's breakfast dishes. Betty was excused for teaching Noel how to waitress serve the cake. Jeffrey was the other dishwasher. Bosslady had actually cooked something. She was out of options. With a frustrated sigh, she threw her napkin on the plate and arose from the table with a visible frown... Just because she could frown, as it was obviously a pouty snit and for show.

Candy asided to Jeffrey, "Note for your calendar, to remind me and the rest of the band to unspoil our redheaded princess bass guitar player. Alright? Apparently she's been getting away with not doing housework. Talk to her?" Candy didn't really care if it was now, or once they were home... As long as it got on Jeffrey's calendar.

Jeffery nodded.
"I'll start it up here, then likely continue it later when we are back home"

Noel meanwhile took her newfound time and stayed by Kara, not sure what to do but had planned to just follow her lead.

Candy nodded. "House meeting. Mandatory. Even I'm without excuse. Read?" She wanted Jeff to get how serious she was, that not even the pop idol of hundreds of thousands could be exempt. She then smiled and nodded to Jeff to get going.

Calla just stood looking at the leftover food instead of taking incentive and getting it in the refrigerator.

Lenard would hold up a forefinger. "Jeff. Since the rice and meat can go in the same bowl according to Stephanie, do it. Most of us combined it anyway in our burritos. Same with the toppings. Just put all the vegetables in the same bowl, and the salsa and guacamole, if any left should have the lid underneath the bowl."

"A little guacamole. No salsa. Almost the whole tub of sour cream." Stephanie offered. "Jeff can eat the rest of the guacamole if he wants. Probably only two or three tablespoons."

Lenard chuckled as Pat gave a scoff with a smile. "You heard the lady, Jeff, rest of the guacamole is yours." Lenard said.

Kara patted Noel's hand. "Great dinner. Thanks." She smiled at Noel. She then looked at Stephanie. "And thanks for making the Spanish rice, Steph." She turned back to Noel. "What's on your mind?"

Jeff nodded and gave a thumbs up.
"Alright Calla, you heard them, let's get this packed up, you want some of the guac before I finish it off?" He asked starting off as jovial.

"Oh umm, n-nothing, and umm you are welcome, I am happy it turned out good and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I was kind of worried," she admitted.

Calla sighed and shook her head. "I'm one who didn't mix her rice and meat, or have any guacamole. I don't like avocadoes. All yours." She didn't seem thrilled as she dumped the meat into the rice, which was already in a plastic bowl since Stephanie had to make the 'fried' part of the side a little at a time. She found the lid for the rice bowl and closed it up, setting it to the side. She just stared at the vegetables like they'd mix themselves if she looked hard enough. She did manage to put the sour cream and the "goulash" in the fridge without being told.

Candy tilted her head in an askance sort of way. "Noel... Forgive me for asking, sweetie... But why on earth would you be worried it wouldn't be liked? I love Mexican food. It's my second favorite. And the fact that you made it like Thai as well, which IS my favorite? Well... You just won a new fan and I'd rave about it until y'all would be tired of hearing it, and tell me to shut the hell up, already."

Betty nodded. "Yeah. Candy doesn't give glowing reviews... She gives radioactive ones! She's got a weird five star system. Five means a 20 if she REALLY likes it. I have to admit, the unique flavor even won me over."

Antwan even gave Noel a thumbs up and smile.

At that moment, Lenard's office phone rang and he excused himself to answer.

Pat looked to Big Ben, which was the closest clock to the dining alcove. "Who'd be calling at a little after seven in the evening?"

Steph shrugged and said, "My worrywart Mom? Wouldn't matter how much Dad tells her I'm fine."

"Candy! It's Captain Wainwright for you! And he used your full name!"

Candy sighed and excused herself and went to the office.

Lenard was on his way back to the table. "Close the door for privacy."

"Yeah, good job tiny" Jeff smiled and rustled her hair. Which she immediately fixed with her hands.

"Oh wow, thank you all, that is too kind" Noel blushed as she received the compliments.

"Hmm? what do you think the captain wants with Candy?" Noel asked in a whisper to Kara.

Kara looked worried toward the hall since the office door was farther down the hall. "I don't like it, Noel. Especially when he used her legal name and Dad told her to shut the door for privacy."

"I thought she was originally from Minnesota." Stephanie said. "The police are usually involved with family, but why Candy?"

Betty nodded. "My only family in town is my brother and he's at his fiancee's. Even I can't figure why Dad would ask for her specifically and by legal name."

Lenard went into the kitchen. "Calla. Right? Stop looking at it. It won't mix itself. Jeff?" He sighed. He knew why the call. The Police Captain had told him since he had been like a dad to Candy because of Kara being a Lollipop. "A word, please, privately. You are the manager. Candy's going to need both of us."

"Right, you heard him, Calla, get that done, duty calls." He told her.

Noel seemed worried as well especially now that Jeff was going in as well.
"I hope it isn't anything bad" Noel gently grasped Kara's hand.

Stephanie instinctively reached for Betty's as Kara gripped Noel's as well. "Me too, Noel, me too."

Lenard had an arm around Jeff's shoulder, and he pointed with his head to the kitchen and Pat nodded, excusing herself.

Lenard had Jeff sit on the couch. "I hope you can handle this. I'm not exactly sure how I would... But ..." A deep breath, "A part of the roof of the house they owned caved in from all that heavy snow... Nearly two feet. It caused a short. They've lost everything. I was about to give her a boost to help with the expenses... All I can now is my home so there's an address..."

The door open and Candy came out showing that she definitely had been given some pretty bad news. She made it to the eyesight of all and stopped taking another deep breath, obviously struggling to keep control.

Lenard shook his head. "Thankfully all of you were either here or at Chuck's fiancee's. I'm glad I convinced you guys to come here after all." He looked up and noticed Candy struggling to compose herself. "Come over here, Candy, Jeff, help her."

Jeff would hear her saying how thankful she was for the invite, now. It probably saved lives.

Jeff nodded and took Candy around her shoulder, being there for her and reminding her that everyone is safe and only objects were lost. Trying to help her see the silver lining.

Candy took the lead to the couch. "I don't know how much you got moved in if anything... But Captain Wainwright said it was a total loss. What if we hadn't accepted Lenard's invite and brought our instruments and those changes of clothes? I think there was only $100,000 insurance, and thankfully the insurance policy and everyone's birth certificates I had were in a safety deposit box... Crap. I left that key at the house..."She took a deep breath. "This is too much to process right now..."

Lenard smiled sadly. "Well, you've got a home here for as long as you need it, Candy. You know that." He patted her knee before getting up. "As soon as Calla finishes the dishes, you can call a family meeting with the band in my home office."

Candy nodded and thanked him for his generous offer.

Kara squeezed Noel's hand again as she looked at Lenard. "Dad?"

He shook his head. "Not my place to say. It's Candy's and probably Jeff's since he's the manager. I also don't want you to pester her, Kara. She needs space right now."

Stephanie excused herself and Betty, and pulled Betty upstairs to their temporary quarters of Kara's room. Being a Cop's daughter, she also made a call to her house. Betty, at least, would have a place to go outside of the Zorels.

Noel gave Kara's hand a squeeze back, letting her know she was there for her.

Jeff did what he could to comfort Candy and let her know she didn't have to deal with everything right now, he was there to help and they had time. The important thing is no one had been hurt.

Kara looked over to Candy leaning against Jeff. She couldn't help but smile and slightly nudged Noel, "Check that out. Don't you think they make a cute couple? Most singers end up falling for their managers anyway." She then looked at her dad. "Is there something we can do to distract Candy?"

"Like what? She's like an overgrown teenager, Kara." At least she had her dad's attention for even Noel or Jeff to mention an idea.
