Unravel (1x1 w/ Jikkah)

Jin was still locked in Tolya’s room, sitting on the floor, slumped against the wall. Her body was heavy and cold, and it was a struggle to keep her eyes open, feeling herself nodding in and out of consciousness.

"Kawabe." When did Matsunaga get there? He crouched in front of her and grasped her chin gently, tilting her head up to examine her, "He drugged you? That would explain the lack of communication."

Her pupils were still quite large, and he could see from her expression that she was still under the influence of whatever he had given her. “How many days since my last communication..?” She asked tiredly.

"Almost two weeks. You've been here a while. But we're getting all of the humans out thanks to you and your valiant efforts." He answered.

His words were a bit hard to focus on, but she nodded regardless. Her body was battered and bruised, and it was clear she had been roughed up quite a bit, but she was still alive and that was all that mattered.

It hurt every part of her body to move, but Jin simply clenched her jaw and pushed through it.
After all the captives had been accounted for, Jin was loaded up into a van and sent back to base for medical treatment, severely dehydrated.

"You were very strong to put up with such abuse for so long, Comrade Kawabe." The medical examiner praised Jin gently, "You've earned your rest."

Jin thanked the Russian doctor, and after requesting her usual medication that she neglected during the mission, she was left alone to rest in the infirmary.

Matsunaga went to interrogate Tolya, which he took great joy in. He always found a sick pleasure in getting information out of the ghouls. But Tolya was a tough nut to crack, he endured everything Matsunaga threw at him.

It seemed like Matsunaga would get nothing out of him, not a single word, but he did notice Tolya’s expression change when he mentioned Jin.

"What about Jin upsets you so, Tolya?" He asked dully. Tolya snorted.
"What owner would be happy with a failure of a pet like that one?"
"Harsh words. She is rather loyal, well trained."
"Damaged." Tolya remarked. Matsunaga made a noise; he knew vaguely of her being held hostage by ghouls when she was younger but he didn't know the extent.

What exactly happened during the time Jin was imprisoned by the Russian Ghouls? Jin hadn’t given any note worthy reports, only the physical abuse and the drugs, what was akin not saying?

Jin didn’t take much part in interrogations, put on bed rest, she mostly did paperwork regarding the takeover.

"Why do you care so much for such a broken thing?" Tolya hissed, looking even more annoyed and tired with Matsunaga's bullshit. Hisehide scowled lightly.
"She did a lot to aid us in retrieving you and the hostages." He answered. Tolya laughed loudly, smug as ever.
"Oh yes, letting a ghoul pipe her was a lot of work for you and your doves." He mocked. Matsunaga stood quietly for a moment, blinking slowly.
"You raped her?"
"I showed her her pl-" He was cut off by Matsunaga kicking him hard in the mouth, knocking a lot of his teeth loose.

He had hardly even noticed a change in her behavior, only seeming out of it because of the drugs, but was this truly the secret she was hiding? Why? Why keep such a thing hidden? Surely she wanted her revenge? Perhaps this was the only way to get it, to capture Tolya and kill him in captivity and call it self defense?

"Thank you for your information." Matsunaga said flatly as he turned to leave, leaving Tolya to struggle not to choke on his teeth.

Jin was back up and about, still only set to desk work and reports, which only seemed to be piling up due to the amount of evidence and testimony that needed to be logged, many big fish Ghouls being caught and interrogated. Jin was back on her medication, kept under close watch by the physician on hand to ensure there weren’t any adverse reactions with the morphine she was given, as it too was black market and hardly medical grade.

"Kawabe." Matsunaga approached her and gave a warm smile, though it felt disingenuous, "It is good to see you up and back to work."

Jin looked up from her work, setting her pen down to rest her hand. “Yes, I’ve been cleared for desk work again, but I’ve still a few more days before I’ll be allowed back out again.” She said with a nod.

"A shame," he took a seat across from her desk, "You're here now, though. Have any of the captured humans given us any new information?"

Jin studied him a moment, folding her fingers together on her lap. “So far, this is the only base they know of, none have been transferred or brought to any other places than the building that was raided, and none heard anything from the ghouls stationer there. If there are more bases, they’re being very tight lipped about it.”

He gave a slow nod, humming softly in agreement, "I'm not surprised the ghouls wouldn't say much to the humans, but it was a small hope."

“The team here is still investigating however, since we only managed to catch one of the three generals, they expect them to retreat for now, gather up more numbers.” She nodded.
