Escape Fate into Another (Poseidon & I)

With him landing she grits her teeth at the smell of fresh blood. Unable to see she slipped from his hands to find the source only to find fresh deer has been dropped. Without think he dove right in with her claws tearing the flesh apart with joy. Slowly her sight came back as she was regaining her strength from the kill. Aiko stood in the distance seeing her father in his true frightening form.

"Aiko, mobilize our warriors, I want our best to protect lillians clan" he commanded. Folding his wings he waited and watched Lillian captivated by her ferocity and primal nature.

"No need." Standing up as she wiped the blood from her mouth, gasping for air. "My family can defend themselves, Magnus. They will turn on your kind if you step in."

Magnus sigh and was struggling to calm down. "I'm sorry, guess.... I guess now you see what I really am hidden behind the calm and self control" he said looking away. He fully expected her to be repulsed by him even as he took deep calming breaths to regain his hidden form looking normal.

Laughing as she looked at him. "Look at me! I'm covered in blood and pigged out on a dead deer!" Laughing hard as she thought she was repulsing for her gnawing on a dead animal.

With a chuckle he covered his face feeling stupid then smiled warmly at her. "Honestly I found you very beautiful to be so wild and out of control" he said with a grin. Walking up to her he casually used his thumb to wipe away some blood before licking it from his thumb. "Tastes better having been on you" he said with a smirk trying his hand at flirting for the first time in aeons.

His actions, his gentle touch and his words made her stop in her tracks with her cheeks turning red. "You're just saying that." Blushing deep red with her looking away from him. Aiko on the other hand gave him a thumbsup.

"Father, the Gala is around the corner. Do you want me to get your suit altered?" Aiko left out the fact he could ask Lillian to go. Afterall, Aiko wanted him to take some lead and offer the choice to Lillian himself.

"Thank you Aiko, Lillian.... would you do me the honor of being my date at tonight's Gala?" He asked tenderly. He smiled and gently turned her face to his "and I ment what I said, every word of it" he whispered. His eyes never left hers and his body stayed close to her, he wanted her to know how much he desired her.

Lillian was in shock it didn't change the fact of him standing this close with innocent flirting had her liking him in his favor. "I'll go with you but I have nothing to wear."

"You and I can go shopping. Father, if we're not back please go on as I'll drop her off. As usual a Lady needs time to prepare for such occasions." This was Aiko's way of telling him that if he intends to move on with his life then Lillian needs to make the right impression for the others to allow such an union.

Magnus smiled and nodded, "that would be a good idea, you girls take your time" he said with a smile. "Whatever you choose to wear will look stunning on you, only because it's on you" he said with a smirk. Moving in he kissed her on the cheek tasting the fresh blood and smirked wider. Taking a few steps back he kept eye contact then turned at the door and left her there with Aiko as he went to dress in his finest suit.

Hours went by as Aiko and Lillian poured over every dress, style of hair, make up and shoes until it was final. By the time Lillian arrived she was wearing a hunter green dress that flowed down around her feet but it had a slit running upwards to her upper thigh. Around her neck was a diamond choker necklace but on her hands were black stain gloves. Her brown hair was in full curls that fell over her left shoulder with her lips painted red. Wi a small silver clutch purse in her hand she stopped as she was announced. "Lady Lillian!" Her cheeks turned red as eyes fell on her as she stood at the front of the crowd.

"Whose this Lady Lillian?" One vampire said near Magnus. "We have a Lady Isabella but who is Lady Lillian?"

Magnus was holding his breath with a smile in his eyes. "She's mine" he said as the crowd of vampires parted for him. He walked towards her with utter confidence and stopped at the stairs just a few steps lower than her. Runners started being whispered as Magnus reached his hand out to her "You look.... so beautiful.... will you dance with me?" He asked softly.

"Asking another woman whose not your life mate?" A woman who looked exactly like Lillian stood at the top of the stairs but she had black hair. Her name was announced as Isabella. "I see you couldn't wait for your life mate to make an appearance before you went for another." Isabella the same human who served him centuries ago stood before him and the crowd.

Lillian turned to stare in shock at the fact they looked so alike and she was claiming to be his life mate. "Wait who is who?" Lillian looked at the two of them.

"Lord Magnus is my life mate. I known it since I was a young girl." Isabella slowly approached Magnus with her green eyes focused on him. "I left when I got word a noble vampire would train me to become worthy of Lord Magnus's attention and affection."

Magnus was flabbergasted looking between the 2 of them at a loss. But then it clicked and he realized something. "Bella..... your soul....." He started and looked at lillian, then back at her. "You may have knowledge of who you are and what you were ment to be, but when you allowed another to turn you, you gave up your soul" he said with a stern expression. Looking between the 2 he was trying to make heads or tails of what to do.

"I asked long time ago for you to turn me and you refused. So I had to become worthy of you." Isabella stated calmly while she didn't acknowledge Lillian looking like her. "You still refuse to acknowledge my love for you."

"Lady Isabella, I don't think he meant to say such a thing. I'm just a companion for tonight. Why don't you two spend some time together and catch up." Lillian was smiling as Isabella turned to her twin.

"I like this one....This stand in." With that Isabella looked to Magnus as Lillian had placed the spotlight on the two of them for the time being.

Magnus took a deep breath and steadied himself. "Lillian, I won't be long.
. Bella, let us talk" he said as he turned on his heel. The vampires parted as Magnus led Isabella to a private room. Once inside he settled his nerves and turned to face her. "Do you have any idea what your impatience has done?" He demanded sounding both upset, angry and oddly... heartbroken.

"Impatience?" She laughed softly. "You refused because I was human and a servant. I left to better myself for you but I see you here with a werewolf...." She shook her head. "You being heart broken doesn't mean anything. I should be heartbroken that you went after another as I left a letter with your sons of where I went to that day."

"I was told you were dead" he said slapping a desk. "You think I didn't want to be with you, to make you my own? I didn't want to rob you of having children, you were too young to turn yet, I WASN'T GOING TO ROB YOU OF A CHOICE" he shouted visibly trying not to cry. "I refused you time and again because you were just a teenager, you were barely 16, Bella do you have any idea what you've done?" He said looking close to tears. "I moaned you, when they told me you'd been killed I went into isolation and refused to come out till that noble wolf out there snapped me out of it.... why... didn't you come to me? Why did you allow me to believe you were dead all this time?" He asked holding on by a breath.

"I hadn't completed my studies." Her voice was calm as she approached him with her hand reaching up to caress his cheek. "Magnus...My beloved. I was of age to be yours. I let it be known I was yours alone but....You seemed distant to the fact." Her lips caressed his cheek. "I couldn't find you for so long until recently. When I heard you were still alive...I swore my heart was beating again." Her eyes captured his own. "Let us live out our lives together."

Magnus was in turmoil "bella, my darling bella, how can I do this? ....the soul that made you who you were.... it's not here anymore" he said resting his hand on her chest. "Bella your soul is with lillian, I know it I feel it, even now I feel it calling to me from out there" he said pointing to the grand ball room. "I'm lost bella" he said as the blood tears edged from the corners of his eyes as he gently touched her cheek "my heart and soul is torn between you both, and it's killing me"he said as his head dropped and his emotions broke free.

Isabella kissed his tears away as she knew her soul was with Lillian but she hoped to have Magnus before her soul returned. "I can't tell if you've bedded her or you wouldn't be in such turmoil. What do you wish? To be with a woman who knows she's meant to be with you or with one who just willingly let you walk off with another woman?" Her fingers curled under his chin to turn his lips to her own to allow him the choice to enjoy one kiss or not.

Magnus rested his forehead to hers, his eyes closed as his emotions were a storm of pain and confusion. "She's a good woman, she's suffered so long and been so alone" he said trying to calm himself. "Decended from a noble line of alphas, she's so much like you, proud and strong" he said trying to think.

"But she is not me. No matter how hard you try she is not Isabella who served you and your children up to her of age..." Whispering as she leaned in kissing him softly with her fingers wrapping around his neck to let his white hair curling in her fingers.

Lillian had been looking for Magnus but poked her head in to see the two kissing. Her slender fingers went to her lips and she quickly slipped away to leave the two alone. Though a few tears slipped down her cheeks as she felt hurt. Why did she feel like he betrayed her? Silently she dodged the vampires to reach the gardens that the faints star light was shining down.

"No!" Magnus withdrew feeling it wasn't right as he held her back but gently. "No.... she's not you.... she is her own person, and someone I love for that just as I loved you.... but the person you were.... I don't see that gentle and kind girl anymore, no she would never have treated anyone the way you did tonight.... no bella, without your soul your only half the woman you used to be" he said softly.

"And that is why I can not be with you now.... because you've lost yourself" he said and gently walked away. Stepping out the crowd scattered before they got caught eavesdropping. Seeing his 3 eldest sons together he matched up to them, they had the decency to look afraid "I'll deal with you 3 fool's at home" he hissed letting his true self slip out making the lesser vampires faint in terror. He then set off to find lillian, while Bella may have been his true mate once, sacrificing her soul for what she'd become had destroyed that bond, memories and a pretty face alone are not enough to be ones lifemate, Magnus knew this better than most as he'd written the lore on it, after all, he was the first to find and loose his own lifemate at least a dozen times over trying to get it right each time.

Lillian looked over her shoulder as he heard the vampires faint. Curious as she slipped back inside with her gently pushing them aside. All of this felt familiar, pushing through the crowds, searching for someone. Once her eyes fell on his long white locks her heart leapt. "MAGNUS!"
