Joshua waited a couple minutes to be sure the group was truly unconscious before he opened the hidden door, walked into the den, picked his daughter up bridal style, went back into the tunnel, closed the door and left with Lily. He quickly went to his lab where he hooked Lily up to several machines to track her labor, along with Lily and the puppies vital signs. He had strapped Lily to the hospital bed, knowing she’d try to escape when she woke up. Once he’d set up all of the machine and such, he administered her medication to hopefully stop her labor and waited.
He knew when the wolves woke up they’d immediately go searching for Lily, so he planned on fixing up the outdoor enclosure. It was an area that had fence made of thick metal bars that allowed an animal to go outside if they wanted but kept them away from any passing animal. The wolves would be able to see and interact with Lily but Joshua would be able to keep an eye on Lily to be sure she didn’t give birth early.
