"Hn." That was probably a good idea. Those two tended to suffer in their own misery for mindless things often enough. Gauging the reaction to something that was beyond his own understanding, but important none-the-less to the detective, was probably best.

But he nearly jumped out of his skin for the sudden question. It was one asked often enough. It really shouldn't surprise him anymore. "She's fine. Why wouldn't she be?" The response came with far to much heat on his face for his liking; even if it was only a little.. a disgruntled noise purely pointed inward passed his lips and he grew quiet again.

This was what he got for sticking his nose into things. It never failed. Not that he could complain too much. It was a simple enough question. And he was able to go back to relaxing in the aura and scent of the tree soon after.

Kurama replied with a knowing hum, but said nothing more on the matter. Hiei's face got just a tad more red each time he asked. There were several times he'd wondered what it would be like to be a fly on the wall for their conversations. They made such an interesting pair. He flipped another page and relaxed in a comfortable silence to wait for either another question or for Yusuke's return... Probably with Lilly in toe. The man could never keep up punishments when it came to the apple of his eye.

He debated wanting to bring anything else up. There was a chance that if he delved further the redhead would strike back with the same thing. Silence fell over them for a few comfortable minutes as he thought to himself and allowed the lax state to fall over him better. But a thought struck him eventually and a clipped 'heh' fell from his chest.

Again he debated on sharing. However the small noise probably wouldn't go ignored and crimson eyes turned down on the redhead that accompanied a small smirk. "It's too bad I lost the Orb of Bast. I bet that would get his attention." It, in fact, was sure to. Hiei may not realize just how much himself though. "Although that's going a bit far," he added with that amusement in his tone.

And, of course, it was.

He quieted down and turned his eyes behind the redhead. He could tell the temple master was coming before seeing him. So he simply leaned back and placed his hands behind his head; half expecting some sort of screech from that shrill child.

But there wasn't a noise from Lily. Because Lily wasn't with him as he came round the corner onthe porch. Before he reached them fully he let in on dinner. "Gonna be a little while before itv's ready."

Lily wasn't with him for several reasons. The largest of which being his husband's stress level. He refused to place more on him no matter how stressful it might be for him to sit her in her room and turn away from those giant ocean eyes. He stopped by the bench and offered a small smile to the redhead; calmer than usual. Then again it made more sense with how things had been lately.

A curious hum left the fox, who looked up from his book to look up at the fire demon. That would catch Yusuke's attention, though, handing her something so powerful was, in fact, going too far; but, perhaps it could be used in a different way. "I don't suppose you would be willing to join me for another raid of the king's vault?" It was difficult to tell if he were joking, and he didn't have a chance to explain. His lover's scent reached him, and he could feel his warm, protective energy long before Yusuke came within ear shot. He was thankful Lily wasn't with him. It must have been difficult for the former detective to leave her in her room after she came out to greet them so happily.

"Then join us," he offered, shifting over on the bench to give the man room to do so. Once he sat down, Kurama laid his hand on top of Yusuke's and didn't hesitate to slide in close until their arms touched. Even with Hiei sitting close by, the fox couldn't help but show such affections for 'his moron,' as the shorter demon would say.

Hiei didn't mind. Those tender display type things didn't bother him as much as they used to anymore. One could become a little desensitized to them given enough time. Besides. He was busy enjoying the mostly quiet area and the resting spot made specially for him tha t was rather inviting.

Yusuke on the other hand looked perfectly elated. He'd been a little worried by the answer he'd gotten previously about joining them. But now he chalked it up to that difference his husband exuded around their friend. Smiling cheerily, he leaned on him a little to offer up a little elongated nudge before pulling away and attempting to have it returned. He liked it when the redhead used him for support. And just the slightest bit right now shouldn't be too much, should it?

Either way he made sure they maintained that connected touch as he sat there looking around the area. He was quiet as well during this time. Not something he could maintain very well usually. But he was schooling himself tonight. He didnt want to ruin the mood that seemed to be wafting in the air.

And soon enough the smell of dinner came wafting with it. Shortly after that Yukina called out for it in that sugary tone of hers. Even with how soft it was, the woman's voice could carry well. A happy hum left his lips as he looked between the other two. "Smells great. I'm excited," he mentioned happily. It wasn't the oat stimulating thing to say, but by then he just couldn't help it. He needed to say something.

Hiei's ever present snarkiness was offered into the air through an amused grunt. In all reality the smallest had probably been counting the minutes it took before the temple master broke as he lounged. Now though he stood, and he led the way toward the dining room.

As they rounded the corner Cooryn appeared suddenly, phasing through the wall in front of them. She seemed to have something on her mind as she smiled far too sweetly at the petite demon. "Hello Hiei," she offered smoothly. Her tone was honeyed and the moment she began speaking a blood red tint surrounded her irises. "I was thinking--"

Her attempts didn't even slow him down a little bit. And as he travelled on looking her over that was as far as she got. She'd expected her influence to at least stop him; if not simply for the fact that she was suddenly trying it.

What she got instead was a Palm to the face. It covered an eye and pushed harshly at her forehead as he marched on. She hit the wall with a heavy puff and lost some air, looking a little dizzy for a good moment. Hiei didn't even allow her to recover from the 'gently nudge' to the side he'd offered before telling her off as shortly as ever.

"Try it again," he challenged sharply. "By all means, give me a reason to cause you real pain." This was said cooly as he opened the patio door to the dining room. And not a second after he said it a horrible chorus of his name was shot in his direction and his wide eyed expression along with the rest of him was lost in a sea of the remaining children; completely taken by surprise as his focus settled on the teen despite not looking at her.

What followed that was a sharp string of angry curses and threats that consisted of 'fools', 'bastards', 'I'll kill you all', and the like. All of which had Yukina giggling from inside pleasantly; most likely enjoying 'how well' they were getting along.

Hiei didn't pause, but Kurama did when the little imp tried her whiles. He raised an eyebrow at his lover and motioned to the girl who'd just been gently shoved into the wall. She'd just proven his earlier point, even though Hiei wasn't swayed in the slightest bit, if she'd tried on someone else it could have gone badly. He left any scolding to the former detective, however, because their guest had just been swarmed by a mass of excited children.

The fox realized that he really should help his friend, but he couldn't help but watch for a few moments. It couldn't hurt. After all, there was no danger to the children, leaving the fire demon as the only one suffering. Now Hiei could feel a little bit of his miseries.

It didn't take long for Kurama to feel pity for his friend, and made a shooing motion with his hands. "Come now, it's time for supper. Leave Uncle Hiei alone," he tried so hard to say that with a straight face, but he cracked a smile halfway through. A smile that fell away almost the instant emerald eyes fell on Yukina. Her words had spurred on Yusuke's attachment to the parasite growing in his gut, and his displeasure was made clear only to her... Then his attention returned to herding the children to the dinner table.

Yusuke saw it himself. And a stern look he seemed to be so good with today crossed his face. "Cooryn!" The sharp tone matched it well.

She jumped, but bubbled up at him all in her own way. "What?!" The growl in her tone was one of frustration. "You people are always bitching about pushing and testing our skills!" She deflated however and hugged herself a little with one arm while rubbing the back of her head with the other. "That was a little over zealous of me. But I figured he'd be the perfect person to test it on." There were things the children knew about him by now after all. "I didn't think this particular skill could hurt so bad though." A sport pout hit her in adding as much as she picked herself up carefully.

Yusuke lost a bit of that flare he'd gained. And a lost look landed on the redhead. How the Hell could he argue with that?

Whatever flare Yusuke lost Hiei seemed to gain. As the children filed off him with whining complaints complaints, sharp crimson eyes fell on Kurama as that flare ignited a short warning spark of flame around clenched fists that dissipated quickly. "Who's 'Uncle'?" It was a reaction, only made so harsh for the upset the children had already pulled through him. It was a flare Kurama knew well enough. A natural threat for his flaming anger that wasnt usually as threatening as it seemed.

The children however didn't know this. But all they saw was a neat fire ignite and disappear. And a heavy cheer of his name that now held the prefix of 'uncle' only tested him further. A glare thatscreamed death landed on the lot of them instead of the fox. And through squeals and happy giggles most of them ran off. The only one that stayed was Rin.

And when he landed a quizical, but perfectly unappreciative look on her she smiled cheerily. "I can do that too now," she told him cheerily. And before he could get to the part where he let her know he didn't care she lifted her palm, took a breath, and blew into it steadily. A tiny blue flame appeared in her hand. It was almost too adorable combined with that big happy look she landed up on him.

"Hn." A sharp turn of his head that lifted his nose didn't seem to deter the soft giggle she had to offer. What did was the sudden chiding tone of the gentle maiden. "Rin," she started smoothly. "What are the rules about fire inside?"

With a gasp the girl shook her hand quickly to put it out and land a poorly displayed look of innocence on her as those hands flew to clasp behind her back.

Yukina's look landed over on Kurama again for a moment. She'd noticed the one shevd received previously. "I will forgive the incident this time, but do not do it again." She warned in that warm tone of hers. She waited until the girl nodded vigorously and found her seat before quickly retreating back to the kitchen.

"Children, please finish setting the table while I fix out plates," she offered quickly as she did so. None of them seemed to notice.

Hiei did. And while Yusuke had been simply watching on entertained in that mi dless way of his, he landed an even shorter look on the redhead. However, he said nothing; which, incidentally, certainly said more.

"Language, Cooryn," the fox scolded. "And while testing your skills is encouraged, attempting to hypnotize guests is not. It is simply impolite." He doubted she would pay him much mind. The children were all used to the 'cynical fox' who rarely, if ever, praised them, but didn't seem adverse to scolding them. That was likely why they never took him seriously. The irritating thought fell away and was replaced with perfectly masked humor as Hiei flared up. The 'frightening' display only fueled the children's fascination with him, and he motioned to them as they all ran of squealing his new title. "You, it seems."

He left Yukina to take care of the ill-use of fire in the house. The dragon had not yet mastered the art, and there were a few singed pieces of furniture to prove as much. Like a cat that clawed where it shouldn't, and got into everything it wasn't supposed to.

Hiei's look was ignored. At the moment, his protective nature over his sister was of little concern. All he wanted was for the little ice maiden to keep her mouth shut about things that didn't involve her. Thankfully, neither she, nor anyone else mentioned babies during dinner, and Kurama was able to enjoy his meal in peace. Or as much peace as he could with all the kids happily fawning over Hiei or squealing about the days activities. How he missed the days of a quiet meal, filled only with his husbands mindless, but engaging chatter.

After supper, Lily was allowed out of her room to join the others in the last couple of hours left of daylight, but was put to bed with them all once the sun had gone down. Despite her adamant refusal, she was placed in her room and the door was firmly shut. Kurama suggested locking it as a joke, but he would have liked to follow through.

Once everyone was in bed and the majority of the temple was empty, the fox set to work on mixing his concoction. Though not the one expected. As tempting as it was to ingest the toxin and be done with it, Kurama needed to know what it would do to his husband, and trying to get him to just talk about it would be like pulling teeth. A bit of foxy trickery was needed, and instead of the brutal poison that would give him great pains, but clear him of any and all parasites, he brewed himself tea to sooth his stomach.

With the warm cup held in his palms, Shuichi sat at the table across from his husband.

The girl only pouted more heavily as the fox scolded her. She wasn't about to try it on Yusuke in front of everyone. Besides, those rules of his had yet to be set. Although she realised now her attempt to test herself had been ill fated anyway. With a sigh, she fazed through the wall to bypass the angry fire demon and take her seat at the table. Her choice sat her further than usual. Unlike the other children; who almost all fought to get closer to him.

Dinner went as well as it ever did. At least in Yusuke's eyes. Hee suck around his fox and watched him mix his remedy, trying but not doing well at hiding the downtrodden look that came with the many feelings such an activity brought through him. Yusuke had his own tea; normal tea of course. What pulled him away from thinking about the mixture was the thought of sweetening it.

A thoughtful look crossed his face as he poked it his tongue and leaned over to dig in his pocket. Plucking a leaf from the ones he'd been treated with, he attempted to squeeze drops from it as Kurama had into his own cup. "Hey Shuichi," he asked curiously as he looked the small pile over while doing it. "Are these okay to just eat?"

He'd learned over the years that just because mixing plants Kurama cultivated into other things was okay, that didn't mean eating them on their own was... That had been a hard learned lesson... That included far too many days and/or nights huddled over with stomach cramps or worse.

He hated that look. He was used to Yusuke pouting at him, and even found in humorous on many occasions, but this was vastly different. The sadness reached his eyes, and he wanted nothing more than to sooth it away; to go back just a few hours or even confess he wasn't yet drinking the toxin. But the former was impossible, and the later would defeat the purpose. If he could just make the man see how terrible of an idea this parasite would be... The fox lifted the cup, but paused before the lip touched his own.

"Yes. They are perfectly safe," he assured while lowering the cup back down to the table. "Though, they may be a tad sour." The sap squeezed free was sweet, but the leaf on its own was sure to make anyone pucker.

Curiosity had already gotten the better of him. So that thing was popped into his mouth the moment he heard it was safe. Unfortunately for him he didn't hear the part about it being sour. That might have been because he was experiencing it.

Although it might not be a bad thing. If he had heard it, he probably would have gotten pretty pissy about the lack of preparation the word 'tad' would have given him. As it sat, his face scrunched heavily the moment that leaf lie on his tongue. A choke, a gag, and a heavy suck of air that happened to force him into sucking on the plant itself were all immediate reactions. He was lucky though. Sucking on it brought out that sweetness in the sap. And it fought off some of that intense bitterness.

In fact, within a moment the leaf was trading like a delicious sour candy. And his expression was quick to changes once again. A giddy smile and a happy wiggle replaced the shutter and horrible look he'd had on his face. "Ooh, I like it now," he told him happily. When he laced his attention back on the redhead he noticed he'd picked up that drink again.

And he simply couldn't help himself. That cheery tone and expression deflated quickly. Mentioning the leaf had seemed to pull his attention away before. But he was having trouble coming up with something new. And just when he thought he had, the words he'd been about to say were utterly replaced without rhyme, rhythm, reason, or permission.

What came out instead was a heavy tone that portrayed every bit of emotional stress such a thought forced on him despite the attempt at sillying things up he'd just made. "So... I guess that means it really is such a bad thing for you, huh?" Somehow that question held so many more inside it as he looked over his husband. Whether believing or not it seemed Kurama wasn't willing to have a child with him. Why did that hurt so much? Well, aside from the fact that up until now they had both been willing to share absolutely everything together... Including things forced on them through his own idiocy.

Man, he really was selfish wasn't he? What the Hell was his problem? Hadn't he already more or less agreed to this? What an ass.

Laughter filled the quiet temple. Kurama couldn't stop himself from it as he watched Yusuke pop a leaf in his mouth, then puckered up his whole face in response, only to relax again as the sweetness took over. The giddy smile on Yusuke's lips was what he longed to see, and he was soothed by its appearance over the melancholy expression he'd been wearing only moments before.... An expression that came right back. Shuichi's on jovial smile that reached his eyes, fell into something hurt, then into neutrality.

"Yusuke. It is not a child," he stated once more, but this time decided to add, "and if it were then yes. Being a pregnant man would be a miserable thing." And it would be. Hiei was right about a fetus being a parasite. It would suck away his energy, feed upon him until it is released into the world. The thought of raising a baby was a horrible one all on its own. The screaming, the smells, the mess, the needy little bastard taking up his and Yusuke's time. He already held a disdain for the children of the temple, and he would feel even more for an infant.

I would be a hateful parent.

But none of this mattered, because is wasn't a baby. "I am a man, Yusuke; and men do not get pregnant."

A bit of a pout drew the grown into more of a pinch. "I know that," he offered quietly. He did know. And he felt pretty damned stupid getting all riled up about this. But... His gullible nature.aside, now even Hiei had told them in almost no uncertain terms that it was a baby. He'd called it a parasite, yeah. But he'd called it a human parasite. And while that might not be the clearest answer usually, he'd been arguing against it being something other than a child...

The pout stayed in place as he joined the process of rationalizing this situation. "Besides," he added more pressingly. "Even if it could happen it probably would be Hell..." This was added for his own benefit. Not only would it be Hell, it could be dangerous. He'd already had this thought. That was the biggest reason he felt so selfish.

The pinch to his lips flattened. And while he still looked downtrodden, his had tiled down to allow him to peek up at the redhead through his lashes. "I'm sorry," he offered heavily. "I know I'm being dumb." He huffed a sigh. "I can't help it." Then again, if Kurama didn't know that by now there was something very wrong with their relationship.

He watched as his lover worked through his thoughts, and by the end Kurama reached out in order to cup the man's cheek. With a gentle guidance he lifted Yusuke chin to meet his gaze properly. "I know," he assured gently. "And I understand." The cup was set aside for the moment, his attention fully on his husband. "I am sorry that the idea of a child was put into your head, it never should have been."

Shuichi rubbed the man's cheek in a slow circle. "You have a large heart, Yusuke; and, it may lead to some situations I'm not entirely happy with, but it is something about you that I love very much."

Lips pinched together once more; this time in a curious lilt as he was guided away from his guilty peeking. A soft smile splayed them out once more as his eyes closed for a moment to nuzzles into and bask the hand applying such sweet attention.

They popped open again to offer a look of mild surprise. But if it wasn't obvious the surprise wasn't pointed at Kurama's words right away it would be as that silly, blubbery look of his lit his face into a picture of a pathetic puppy. With a quick sniff he whined at his husband as heat mingled in with the stupid look on his face.

"C'mon~"he complained thickly, but also light heartedly. "You know it ain't fair to say things like that when I'm already stupid emotional." Another sniff, that snivelly look remaining for a long heavy moment until he could breath it away. It took quite a bit of effort; not that that was unusual.

An interruption so small it could barely be called one helped to calm him down more quickly. Although once he did he had the presence of mind to notice he'd cupped his own hand. over the one on his cheek and had been offering it an appreciative pet of his own without realizing. He gave it a strong, supportive squeeze before pulling them both away from his cheek and lacing their fingers together.

It was that 'not' interruption that had him changing pace so quickly. And chocolate eyes drew past his lover's shoulder for a short moment to indicate his recognition of it. Hiei had made a good natured decision to allow a trickle of his energy to be felt as an indication of his arrival. This was another peasantry most of them had come to exude almost naturally over the years in certain situations.

His eyes drew back and he ignored the fiery beast making his way to the porch behind the closed patio door Kurama sat with his back facing in the dining room as they shared this time together. The nod he had to offer was just as supportive as that petting hand had been. And it came with that very rare, very straight face of his. "Alright," he nudged gently. "Drink up."

The tease in his time that followed as he offered that adorable grin of his was more for the beast that was just making it to the porch than the man in front of him. Although only a little; and purely to annoy him. "I think you got a moonlit walk on the beach or somethin' tah get to." He chuckled warmly but added seriously to it.

"If you hurry you might make it back before it gets too painful." And then it turned bratty again. "Besides. I heard from a pretty reliable source that skipping out on a date with Hiei really ticks him off." His finger poked into the air as he added a little more candidly. "Actually, she even said he was super cruel about it. Wouldn't argue a single word against her for a whole week."

Was it true or wasn't it? It didn't really matter actually. Although the silence from the being sitting on the porch outside instead of one of those signature grunts of his might have spoken toward the stress of utter embarrassment. The woman did like to talk though; especially when it came to teasing and taunting their fiery little friend. So who really knew. It'd be hard to tell anything without seeing his face either way.

Yusuke's hand cupped over his own, and the fox couldn't stop the relief that flooded over him when their finger's laced and he was told to 'drink up.' He'd successfully managed to wipe away that crestfallen expression while still managing to get across how important it was to ingest the toxin. Were he an impulsive creature, he may have gone to actually make the concoction and drink it now, but there would be more to this. He was sure of it. "Thank you." His tone was sincere and the words were breathed in a sigh of relief.

"Hm?" He was pulled from his thoughts by Hiei's energy, and he chuckled as the temple master spoke on the fire demon. "You may go on into bed if you wish, Yusuke. I will join you shortly."

With that, the fox pulled the cup close again, then lifted it to his lips to take a long drink of the cooling tea.

"Yeah. I think I'll do that." He was worried though. And a full pause came even through held breath as the cup was brought to his lips. Laced fingers squeezing gently was the only thing that bypassed that pause. His support was there as he watched, his main worry for his husband who had told him previously that it would be painful.

Once the liquid was drank held breath was let out a little slowly before being pulled back in to finish what he'd started previously. "But call me if you wanna," he added. What he meant was if he needed him of course. But he didn't tend to say that particular phrase. There were all sorts of reasons not to need him; pride an issue for most of them. To have the escape of 'want' instead... Well, it meant something totally different after all.

He offered another soft smile as he stood. And he stepped around the table and leaned down to press his lips to his forehead quickly. Another gesture; one that wouldn't capture either of their attention too well to become distracted. "If not, see you when you finish up."

If he stayed any longer he'd end up just wanting to shower him in more affection. It was affection that would be offered for his worry just as much as for the intense need they shared in to simply be close. And it was affection that would become distracting if he did. So seeing as that was what he was trying to avoid at the moment he made his escape quickly after the offered kiss with a warm look that spoke his love over saying it aloud with Hiei within ear shot. Neither he nor Kurama seemed to be too comfortable with that sort of closeness. Or at least his husband didn't seem to appreciate it too much when Hiei was around.

When he got himself alone in the hallway walking to their room he was glad he'd gotten out when he did. He really was horrible. And he could practically feel the darkness of those heavy, heavy feelings seep into his eyes as he walked. His steps slowed as he got a bit further away. It was harder to recognize the somewhat heavy fog that almost seemed to form around him as he moved on. It wasn't until he had closed the door behind him and leaned against with a heavy breath that came out in a short shake, that he realized how heavy his body felt so suddenly.

Kurama had said he understood. Well Yusuke sure as Hell didn't. There was no good reason for this. There was no baby. It was going to be fine once that concoction kicked in and the redhead got over it's initial effects. He needed to straighten himself the fuck out. The fog lifted its veil enough for him to chastise himself all over again.

So why couldn't he do it? Why was it so freaking hard?!

Yeah, he was pretty horrible. But he actually was pretty heavy too. Sleep; sleep would probably be a good thing right now. Although even as he dressed down for bed and crawled under the covers he knew it wasn't gonna come. Because the only thing that could outweigh the weirdly heavy feelings and what almost felt like exhaustion was his worry over the wellbeing of his fox.

Yusuke walked away and Hiei remained quiet just long enough to be able to note for himself that the temple master was out of hearing range. His ears were sensitive, but not nearly as sensitive as the fox's. "That seemed to go well enough," he offered once he deemed it appropriate. It was given up somewhat openly as well.

By the time Yusuke was far enough away, the fox had had time to make his way outside if he felt like it. Not that they couldn't hear each other clearly through the door. He wasn't sure if the redhead felt like talking about it so close regardless though, so it was all he said.

He was seated on the porch, leaning pretty comfortably against the pillar holding up the roof of it. One leg was hanging over the side of the porch while the other was drawn closer to him as he stared up at the night sky. He was ready to move again if he wanted though. Surely he'd be more comfortable staring up at it through the gentle dance of leaves on the wind in that specially grown tree; or any tree really, anyway.

The fact that Yusuke stayed to watch him drink spoke volumes to how much the man cared for him; and the fox showed his gratitude with a returned squeeze of their fingers and the warmest of smiles. His eyes fluttered shut and he tilted his head up to make the kiss to his forehead easier. He wanted so badly to reach up and make the kiss more intimate, but he let his lover go with quiet words of love and a promise to see him soon.

He was grateful for the offer of calling for him. Had he really consumed the toxin he would be in a great deal of agony in just a few minutes. But he hadn't, and he wouldn't call. He waited for the sound of footsteps to stop, and he felt an uncomfortable chill roll down his spine. Yusuke was not as okay as he was pretending to be, and he expected the repercussions of his non-action would come very soon.

"Things are not always as they seem," Kurama replied as he stood from the table and made his way to the patio. The door was slid open and shut behind him silently. He would usually stand beside the fire demon, but the day had worn him out far more than he wanted to admit. All he wanted to do now was cuddle up to his husband and fall into a deep slumber. So, he took a seat and rested against another pillar, mimicking Hiei's position. "Things would be much easier if a certain pair of siblings hadn't placed the idea of a child in his head." His tone was accusing, but his expression was neutral as he gazed over the temple wall to the tops of the trees rustling in the cool night breeze.

"He is determined to believe in the impossible."

So blame was falling on him, was it? Yukina as well, but that wasn't what he later attention to. Despite the fact that he'd been perfectly truthful it was Kurama who seemed to be in denial here. However, he hadn't expected his candid weigh in to have such repercussions either. And because of that he could accept what he did deem his own role in this turn of events.

It was because of that acceptance that he had a short offer to give. And as sharp crimson eyes watched the fox take a less expected position near him he did just that. "In that case, I'll stay." The muttered offer had him turning his attention away once again. The redhead was strung out beyond his capacity. He could see it just as well as he could sense it. So he wouldn't be keeping him there any longer than the fox chose to stay and keep up conversation for himself.

Hiei wasn't entirely sure himself why he felt the need to do so. Mainly because he doubted he'd have much to offer in it. But Hiei tended to take his responsibilities seriously. And whether it was simply Kurama's opinion on this or not, he would now as well as any other time.

He relaxed into himself a bit deeper, choosing now to debate on where he would be resonance he would be staying. He wasn't necessarily tired. But he had a feeling the offer he'd just given would be tedious at best; and exhausting as the least of it... If only for the fact that he was sure to have to deal with the temple's occupants; the smallest of which would probably be the worst.

Surprise colored his features for several seconds before his expression became warm. He didn't set that kindness on Hiei directly, he knew the fire demon had no love for it. Instead he continued to smile out at the trees, and let his weight settle further on the pillar. The cool, night air was nice on skin that felt so hot in recent days, and the fox found himself sighing as he relaxed further. "Thank you," he offered quietly, his eyes closing for only a moment. He just needed to rest them...

Several moments later Kurama's shoulders jumped and his eyes blinked open wide. He'd fallen asleep. It was too early to be this exhausted, especially with the long nap he'd taken. This parasite was draining him of his energy, and he hoped Yusuke would come to his senses soon, least he wind up with something less manageable. Images of some monstrous beast rending through his belly plagued his thoughts for too long before he realized his eyelids were drooping again.

The fox forced himself to stand slowly. "Wake up call begins at sunrise. The strays bang pots and pans until everyone is out of bed." Despite his attempt to keep his tone smooth, the words came with a low groan that spoke of the many headaches they induced on the poor fox. "Sleep well, Hiei. I will see you in the morrow."

Kurama left with a small wave, and followed his husband's trail back to their bedroom. As silently as the graceful fox could be, he slipped into their room and shut the door behind them. The moon was enough light for him to reach their dresser and pull out a set of pajamas to sleep in. Usually he would simply strip down nude with his partner, but due to the miserable parasite and the vomiting spells it created, the fox chose to sleep clothed. Just in case. He would need to come up with a reason behind the continued sickness, but he could do that later. He was far too tired now.

Dressed lightly, Shuichi slipped under the covers with his lover and snuggled in close. He worked his way up against the man's chest, and so long as he was enveloped as usual, he'd fall into a quick yet deep slumber.

Kurama was nodding off. But hieis thoughts were placed firmly pn the day's events. Had he chosen to listen to that nagging woman he would have saved himself quite a bit of grief in not showing up at all. But he hadn't. His want to come and scope things out for himself had even been strong enough for him to.go.to the trouble of placating her into not minding his absence. At least for a while. He had no doubt she'd end up popping her head around sooner or later as well.

Now not only had he garnered himself an invitation to stick around, but he's managed to place himself in the middle of more than one perfectly annoying issue that covered the temple like a storm of clouds. Thinking on it though, the other issue might be less tedious; perhaps even enjoyable in a sense.

Kurama stood again and offered a small wave and advice. He nodded toward it. But before the redhead was fully out of earshot he added a comment of his own. "It would most likely be several times easier to do that now," the offer given as if they'd just been talking on this subject even though it had been a passing comment or two quite a while ago. "Without that bumbling oaf to screw things up, it's sure to be simple to get in and out with that item."

Crimson eyes turned up thoughtfully as he thought back on their first attempt. Gouki had triggered the alarms. He had become a part of their little team as a scapegoat at best. But after triggering those alarms he'd made a surprising show of being able to handle himself against spirit world's defenses; until it had come to yusuke, that is. Even left to deal with them on his own held managed to allow them to finish making their way to the vault to retrieve what they were after.

Although if he hadn't triggered the alarms in the first place things were sure to have gone much more smoothly than they had. "I'm assuming however, that since we are the only ones who have ever made the attempt, we'll end up being prime suspects from the beginning." He didn't feel like being caught and placed on probation again; or confined to a prison. Despite their many deeds in help of the higher realm there were sure to be repricussions.

"I don't feel like being put into a bothersome position. So before you bring the concept to me again in the future, make sure you've got one Hell of a plan ready to lay out for me." This meant, of course, that if he were serious, hieis was willing to take the risk with him once again despite how he'd put it. On that last note, he shifted off and disappeared into the darkness. There was no need to keep Kurama there any longer than he could stand.

Yusuke was quick to open himself to the redhead when he came close. He wasn't asleep, but exhaustion was as clear on him as it was on his husband. This explained why he said nothing as he curled his arms around him and offered gentle pets and kisses to the top of his head. It was to sooth him of course, he thinking Kurama may just be hiding the effects of that plant. It was warm, and as sweet and protective as ever.

Several days passed by without incident; though, Kurama did notice the longing expression on Yusuke's face, as well as the heavy sighs he released now and then. He knew there would be more to come, his husband was hiding away his emotions on the purging of the parasite. A purging that had yet to actually happen. The fox's lies were enough to excuse him of the continued morning sickness, Yusuke was left to believe it was just a continued side effect. There was a storm brewing, and all he could do was wait for it to hit.

Until then, Shuichi occupied himself with careful planning of a certain heist, and working with both Cooryn and Keichi. It was what he was doing now. His apprentice and temporary student were standing before him. "Cooryn, you remember what we discussed? I will help you with you abilities, but you will go no further than hypnosis." He wouldn't tolerate any attempts to look into Keichi's soul. Such things were delicate, and private.

"Keichi, you will work against her whims. A strong will and a sharp mind will render her abilities useless. Keep your focus, while you," he looked at the imp, "Will focus you attention of breaking apart that will. Find cracks in it, weak points, and take advantage of them."

Keichi had long since resigned himself to the fate of his Master's whim. He hadn't complained upon being told what he'd be doing today. While he might not have understood in the beginning the odd sort of training this man put him through, he'd realized on more than one occasion that his particular brand of 'lessons' had their advantages. Unlike Kurama's counterpart and his student, Keichi possessed the type of patience required for such training. Alrhough admittedly it was something hed had to find for himself in the start.

As it stood, he was before his Master now, seeming to have been pulled into a lesson not necessarily meant for him. At the same time, there was plenty he might be able.to take away from it. Still, he couldn't help the bubbled thought on feeling as though he'd been turned into a guennea pig for this exercise despite himself. He didn't let it show. "I will do my best," he offered lightly. While he may have a tendency to be pulled into the rowdiness of the other temple occupants on occasion, he'd grown pretty obedient when it came to their sessions together. Even when he couldn't possibly fathom the point of certain exercises he would do his best to wait the confusion out. That wasn't to say their weren't times when he could still be quite the hand full; but he'd gotten much better to say the least.

Large purple hues landed on the imp upon offering verbal agreement. It had been said almost purely for the imp. His Master already knew his position. Besides. Even if he had wanted to deny this small session he most likely wouldn't have been permitted to. The big happy smile Cooryn turned on him when he looked put him on edge almost immediately. It was far too innocent for her normal behaviour lately. The fact that she wasn't speaking told him she was preparing herself. This was a routine he was more used to than the rest of them. Of all the children, Keichi had been the best so far at avoiding her advances.

It was when that innocent look twisted into a seductive smirk that he grew more easy; not that he let down his guard. He simply recognized that this meant she would start by coming at him in a forward manner. It was something he could fend off simply in most cases. And when she took her breath to speak he steeped himself mentally with little physical change that spoke toward it. The natural expression that Yusuke had referred to on more than one occasion as a 'resting bitch face' crossed his features. The description wasn't entirely wrong as the boy grew to look somewhat bored quite suddenly, if not slightly annoyed.

However she didn't get to say a thing before they were inturrupted. From within the dining room Yusuke's loud expression filled the area outside of the closed door. "You wanna bet?!" He wasn't yelling, but once again that rowdy nature of his had surely gotten the best of him. Keichi wouldn't have allowed it to distract him if the imp's eyes didn't suddenly widen just slightly and turn in that direction.

She didn't have better senses than him when it came to most things, but as a manipulator of emotional state she did tend to for that. Her distraction became his. But he couldn't help but wonder, as Hiei happened to round the corner on the porch just as Yusuke made his loud proclomation, if that were the reason shed become distracted in the first place.

He would have turned to look back at her, but the fire demon's slightly odd behaviour had him more curious. Hiei picked up his pace just slightly. Although in any regard it still came off as a slow saunter despite that. And as he walked passed the dining room his hand shifted up nonchalantly, grasped the sliding door, and slid it open in tune to his steps. Although he stopped just beside the frame and leaned against the wall after having just done so. Arms crossed and what could only be described as a knowing smirk crossing his face.

The action might have been much more curious if the effects of it hadnt followed immediately. Karasori came sailing throigh the opened frame the moment Hiei relaxed. And Yusuke was quick to fill it after with that far too cocky smirk on his face. "Ha! Toldja! Like I said, it's your left!"

His arms were crossed in triumph. Although one had lifted in a gesture that perfectly accentuated that he was making a point on whatever they'd been discussing. He blinked a bit and bubbled down as he noticed the three of them in the yard. "Oh hey guys," the greeting was almost a question.

He'd been doing his damned to remain his bubbly self as much as he possibly could. By his honor, he'd been doing quite a good job of it. Though even the smaller children could tell something was wrong with him sometimes. And Keichi couldn't hide an annoyed scoff as he watched the young temple master do everything in his power to hide how heavily he jumped at Hiei's sudden interjection. "I have spent entirely too much time around here." The grumble was given as he walked past the former detective to find a place for himself out in the yard instead of wherever he had been previously; Yusuke watching him with an awkward look on his face before he righted himself and looked back at Kurama and his current students to offer a cheery smile.

Despite his growing patience it still wore thin quickly with the idiotic antics of the raven haired man. "What are you doing?" The question was rhetorical actually, as his lifted his fingers to press just above his eyes with a sigh. He wasn't pleased with the inturruption. Then again, he never seemed to be when it happened.

Yusuke's head tilted slightly and he tapped at his chin. "Gentrifying," he offered a bit too intelligently. This seemed to throw Keichi off just a little. But only so long as it took him to continue with that curious look he still had. "Although I guess we were supposed to be cleaning. We were doing that before though." A bubbly look landed on the girl "Then someone had to get smart."

"Look who's talking," the boy mumbled through his annoyance.

"Why? What're you guys doing?" Yusuke didn't seem to catch it. Or ignored it.

"Gentrifying," he answered back snootily before turning his attention away from the nuisance completely and huffing an indignant sigh.

The former detective blinked a bit at the word posed back at him in that way; the following attitude not helping his own offense. He sneered at the boy with the raise of a certain finger and a mocking chuckle before turning to check on the door and frame. Just about anyone could guess one of many choice words that could have gone through Yusukes mind to call him for the offense. Although he seemed to get over it just about as easily as normal as he instead commented on the unmarred door, as checking it over seemwd to catch his attentiom quite suddenly. "Lucky~"

Cooryn seemed perfectly amused by the entire scene as it stood. However somewhere within the conversation between the two her attention shifted back on Kurama. A silent question was on her lips. She only needed a small gesture for the answer. Keichi was decidedly distracted and that made him perfectly vulnerable. However, Yusuke was also standing right there and she wasn't sure if Kurama wanted him to witness this particular training session.

Hiei had most likely found a spot for himself, though he was out of sight if nothijng else.

While he kept a fair amount of attention on the children, he did turn to watch Hiei stroll over the patio. A slim brow was lifted when he slid open the door to rest against the frame. Knowing the fire demon Kurama knew there was a reason behind that smirk, and it bothered him to no end that he couldn't figure out what it was until Karasori came barreling through the now open path. He cursed the parasite for another countless time for sapping away his energy, and with it, his awareness. It was getting more and more difficult to account for everyone in the temple.

While Keichi and Yusuke bickered, the fox was left in his thoughts. If he and Hiei were going to steal the orb again, it would have to be soon, or he simply wouldn't be able to do it.

His eyes were still sharp, and they caught Cooryn's movements from the corner of them. She was answered with the slightest shake of his head. Yusuke finding out about this would cause so many problems, all of which would lead him into more and more head aches that he just didn't want to deal with. Instead he let his attention fall on the rabbit who was pouting and seething at the same time. She really did look just like his husband when she did that.

"It's not my left!" She shouted to catch her teacher's attention. Though, she had to admit, it was really lucky that that door had been left open, otherwise she would have crashed right into it. In fact she probably would have left a Karasori sized hole straight through it. "It's my right and your left!" The rabbit crossed her arms over her chest in a childish huff as she looked over at the other children. Lucky, Keichi was actually taught stuff, while she was left to clean up the temple because her teacher was in a strange mood.

Shuichi let out a soft sigh and left the children to make the short trek up the stairs and onto the patio. When he reached his lover, Kurama gave him a sweet kiss and an affectionate nuzzle. Karasori made a 'blech' noise, but he ignored her. "Perhaps once we've finished with our gentrifications, we could have lunch together?"

"Eh?" The childish man looked down put out his hands and looked down at them adter turning and at least acknowledging his student's correction. Focusing on that distracted him as he thought back to which one he'd hit her with. And a bit of heat accompanied the sour look he had to offer himself as he recognised that she was right. "Oops..."

He looked back up to offer her something; though it was doubtedly an apology. Surprise caught his features instead as his husband filled his view and pecked his lips then offered a nuzzle. He blinked a few times, not able to offer it back through a need to catch up that only colored his cheeks more. Losing the moment he let off an airy chuckle instead as he gave a lengthy stretch.

During it he seemed to think better of not returning it and leaned forward, offering a quick pack of his own back. It softened his features for the moment it took that curious look that played off him far too innocently as Kurama made his suggestion. It tilted his head. And had him blinking a bit. But he finished his stretch that landed with his hands behind his head and that look turned into his silly smile once again. With this however, came a step that followed through and had him sweeping past his lover as he answered.

"Nah. I planned on kickin Bunny's ass around for a while still. Maybe tomorrow or somethin, hm?" Off he went on his merry way with that answer. Karasori was left to follow. And considering he didn't snap at her to do as much she probably was being given a moment in return for his earlier blunder. Once he'd rounded the corner and was out of sight he let his arms drop and the silly grin leave his face. There was no helping the sigh that came with it as he continued on. But he didn't let his face fall. He'd been working too hard at not frowning to let it happen now.

Once again he scolded himself for his mood. He couldn't figure out what the Hell was wrong with him but whatever it was it was probably stupid. He needed to cut it the fuck out.... He was horrible. Just having his fox fall into his field of vision stabbed pain into his chest for some reason. He might have made a proper connection of his issue if it hadn't taken him so long to register the change in himself; long enough not to understand what was going on or why he was being so... well, he was being a lot of things. And thinking on it and scolding himself over it only made it worse. Why couldn't he get out of this damned funk?

Sharp amythest eyes landed on the blond boy's master. He took a small breath, wanting to say something. But he drew a blank. Or rather, everything he could think to say only sounded horrible and would probably make whatever had just happened there all the worse. He couldn't recognise this as am action the young temple master would take. It made the situation confusing. But Keichi did recognise that no matter how surprising or hurtful it might look to the onlookers, it only had to be worse for the fox. And a rare need to offer some sort of comfort had formed in him before he'd been able to squelch it. Instead of words however a low, unsure noise that resembled a hum left pursed lips. Was there honestly anything he could say?

Cooryn's bright crimson eyes were rounded almost comically as she watched the former detective mope off before turning her attention back on her current teacher.

"Kurama." The short toned voice of Hiei was the one that rang out rather than either child's. Cooryn turned quickly, a quicl flutter in her wings for the surprise of the sudden inturruption. Now that he'd made himself known with the simple word she could tell he was there. He'd disappeared from sight and it was always difficult to sense the fire demon. He was so close it startled her. It even made Keichi jerk slightly despite his attention not turning as hers had. Because despite his disappearance he was practically over head being in the closest tree to where they were practicing. "Since you're free for lunch make me something to eat."
