Soulless Soldiers

She buried her face in the crook of his neck, shaking her head slowly "We cant. But we will see eachother again. I promise that much..." she said, trying not to cry as she held onto him tight. She wanted to make it so he could never leave her, but such was Hell... They always managed to hurt you somehow, even if they never knew they could. She leaned back and gave him a quick kiss on the lips, not knowing what else to do for him.

Zack was a little to shocked to react, both by the words and the conviction with which she spoke them, and the kiss she gave him without any previous signs of interest as far as Zack was concerned. He almost kissed, her back, but...

Sadly, he was not to be allowed this moment, as Rax'kin chose to make an early appearance. He had taken on the appearance of a older man who was clearly some sort of labourer in his life, or perhaps a bodybuilder or something of the sort, based on his heavily built muscles. Although his age must have been somewhere in his forties, the man looked young and had bleached blond hair, as well as several piercings on his ears, eyebrows, and mouth. "Oooooh. Such affection. No time! You there, over here, I need to take a look at you. Not the small one, just the big one, that's a dear..." He directed, tugging the two apart and looking Zack over from various angles, his eyes flashing from one odd colour and design to another as if he had several sets; he probably did. He then proceeded to do as Da'are had to Kodri once before, reaching out of his host and into Zack's skull. After a moment's quiet observation Rax'kin clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction. "Well, this won't do. Should really start checking while we get the signatures, really should." He pulled his hand back with startling speed. "That'll do, boy. Come right downstairs, please, we'll need to have a quick chat with your teammates, and then we'll need to be off." And he was gone again, stepping out the same way Taylor had not so long ago.

Zack felt ill, and more than a little out of sorts. Him? He was going somewhere? Why? He hadn't been warned of anything like this happening. He didn't understand. Had he done something wrong? Did it have to do with the night before? Was he going to be trashed, and his soul sent into the pits of Hell? He gave Ani a hollow, surprised stare. Looking at the ground, his eyes flitted back and forth in their sockets, and he looked back up at Ani again. With a few quick steps, he was back in front of Ani, leaning in to return the kiss she had given him. Just as soon, he was pulling away. "I'll find a way." He repeated, looking deeply into her eyes, as if to drill the words in and keep them there. He gave her a smile, and left the room, going downstairs as Rax'kin had instructed.

She held back her tears, getting up and following downstairs... How Zack must feel, not even knowing why? Hell, she didnt even know why, but at least she got Some warning... ~Thank you Kodri, for warning me...~ she said silently to the demon, truely meaning it. She got downstairs and leaned against the wall, her suckers forgotten.

Joseph sat up as he heard foot steps coming down the stairs "I guess it has begun already has it?" He sat there waiting for them to enter knowing this would not be good.

Rax'kin had appeared beside Joseph this time, just as silent as ever, and not even a tiny bit negative about the whole ordeal. How lucky not to have any feelings for those involved. "Why yes, so it has. I want to thank you... Joseph, wasn't it? Yes. Thank you, Joseph, for the notice. I would not have received it without your encouragement, or so I hear. My dearest may have many less favourable qualities, but at least I can not fault her reporting skills, even so much as to lay herself across the line when she has crossed it." The possessed man gave Joseph a distorted grin, and continued without pausing. "Now, I'll need to take your teammate away from you, so I'll be sure to replace him within the next twenty-four hours. Whoever you get will be replacing Ekvail and his host for the duration. I do hope you'll all work hard together."

It seemed ridiculously like some sort of transaction to Zack, and he forced down the urge to defend himself as a person instead of being treated like some object that came with many, many replacements just like him.
By now, Ekvail was catching on to what was happening, and was not pleased at all. This was a major backtracking for him, and he didn't appreciate it, although his feelings on the matter were probably much less strong than either Joseph or Ani.

Without so much as a goodbye, Rax'kin was gone, and so was Zack, leaving Joseph and Ani alone. The two were perpetually at the opposite ends of the scale, so it would be interesting to see how they got along without the ever-present equalizer. Would they be swayed closer by the connection of having lost Zack? Or were their feelings on the matter not enough to bond them, however temporarily? Rax'kin would be watching closely before he made his decision on who to send forward.

Ani rounded on Joseph "YOU were the one who reported him?! What in the hell possessed you to do that?! There was nothing wrong with him, what wrong had he ever done to you?! What is going on here?!" she yelled at him, breathing heavily... She sighed and shook her head turning around to lean her head against the wall... "You just didnt like him from the beginning, wasnt it..." she muttered, directing it to Joseph, but not saying it loudly at all

Joseph got up a little steamed and turned Ani around to face him and gave her a quick slap to the face "HOW DARE YOU EVEN SAY I DIDN'T LIKE HIM, DON'T JUDGE ME WHEN YOU DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON." Joseph stomped off upstairs to his old working room and sat on the chair looking out the window wondering just what would happen to Zack.

She held a hand to her reddening cheek, a little shocked... She pulled out a sucker from her pocket out of habit, but before she put it in her mouth she looked at it and sighed, tossing it in the garbage. She went to the library, needing to do something destructive, and started pushing books from shelves, first one at a time, then multiple, the push getting a little stronger, so the books flew sort of off the shelves as she sat in the middle of the storm, her hand still to her face.

Joseph being snapped out of his daze by the sounds of things falling and crashing to the floor headed off into the direction where he heard them coming from until he ended up at the library. He peered inside and saw the mess she was creating and walked inside heading behind her not caring about the books that hit him on the way. Joseph picked her up tightly into a hug and headed off back up stairs placing her in bed sitting at the bed side staring at the window until he finally managed to speak "I'm sorry, what else was I supposed to do? He was broken and needed to be fixed, it wasn't something I could fix myself and wanting no harm to come from it I got the best person to do it, I don't care if you hate me you have alright to do but you have no right saying that I didn't care for him." Joseph headed to the door stopping before he left "You have school in the morning I suggest you sleep god does not like people who are late." Joseph closed the door behind him and headed back to the library and began to sort the books on the floor from a~z so he could put them back in their place.

Ani looked after where he had left and couldnt help it, she started to laugh... The way he spoke of Zack as if he was a toy that was taken away from her to be fixed was comical enough, but the comment about school topped it off... "I dont hate you, i just dont understand...." she said loudly as she got dressed into her pjs and got into bed, having to get up the next morning to start school.... hopefully this wouldnt be like the last time...

Joseph had fallen asleep on the floor of the library and woke up a couple hours later it was still dark but it was 6 so he made his way to the kitchen knowing that since they had skipped lunch and dinner they were both going to be really hungry. He walked into the secret fridge and headed inside getting what was needed for an all out breakfast buffet. He gave a little yawn looking at the time he was finished it had only taken him 45 minutes who knew he could cook so fast. He made his way upstairs and knocked on the door where he had placed Ani "Time to wake up breakfast is ready" Joseph didn't wait for an answer and headed back downstairs should she not be down in 10 minutes she would have the rude awakening. He took a seat at the table and filled his plate with food and ate slowly reading the morning paper that for some reason were still coming to the house.

Ani woke with a start at the person talking outside her door, and got up quickly not bothers=ing to check the time... Her mother had always forgot to wake her up and was always waking her up later than was nice, and so she rushed to brush her hair, putting it in a ponytail and getting her uniform on quickly, and ran down stairs to the kitchen, stopping when she noticed it wasnt blaringly light out like usual. "...mornin... uh, what time is it?" she asked, sitting at the table and starting to put a bit of food on her plate. Very little infact.

Joseph looked up at her and noticed the somewhat messy appearance she had "Its only 6:50 you still have an hour and a half to get ready now do you really want to go to school looking like that? Joseph lifted the paper up turning the page before continuing to eat "Also I would also really not want to hear any phone calls from the school if you would be so kind knowing what kinda devious person your really are. You have to refrain from using your powers in such a holy establishment. Also I know how you must be feeling right now but your going to need to eat more than that if you want your body to cooperate with you today." Joseph let out a little yawn staring at the girl across the table with have dazed eyes.

She raised her eyebrows "That early huh? well in that case.." she started shoveling the food onto her plate and shovelling it in quick, and when she was done eating two plates of food she put her plate in the dishwasher and went into the bathroom and found a hair brush and started to wrestle with her hair to try and get it detangled... "And i know i know, no powers at school, and ill even try to limit my thieving, but i cant make any promises on that one, i do it sometimes without knowing..."

Joseph gave a little chuckle still focused on the paper if he was ever to do his job again he would have to get to know what kinda trends were out. Joseph was expecting quite a few phone calls and he would be the only one to go to the school now "So when does this school thing end, im not sure it's been awhile since i've gone to one." Joseph finished his food and made his way back to to the counter "What do you want for lunch? I've still got lots of time to make you just about anything you want." He was leaning against the counter after putting his dishes in the dishwasher still glued to the newspaper.

She looked at the table and shook her head "No thanks... im not eating lunch anymore. Ill come home and eat when i get off school. Its not a problem" she said, her voice a little less enthusiatsic and uppity then usual. She continued to wrestle the brush through her hair, but with much less enthusiasm as before. After she was done, and looked much more presentable after french braiding her hair into pig tails, she grabbed up her bag and looked at the clock. "Id better get to school early, so i can figure out where im going and everything... Schools out at 4, and so ill be home at about 430 or so... See ya Joseph, and just for the record, i dont hate you." she said blowing a kiss and out the door to school

Joseph folded his paper in half while making his way to the living room "What a weird kid" Grabbing the control and turning on the tv, he set it to the news and flipped it quickly seeing the boy they had killed on the tv screen. He decided it would be better to watch a movie or something and decided that he would watch a comedy. Joseph took a little nap feeling tired for some reason maybe he didn't get enough sleep who knows.

KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK. Someone was at the door. Someone very big, very strong, or both. There were a few seconds of silence and then the sound came again, impatiently demanding to be answered by anyone who was inside, as if it knew that someone had to be there.

Joseph woke from his nap hearing a knock at the door and picked up a remote that was on the table pressing a button hearing the door open "Im in the living room" Joseph called out waiting for the one who was at the door to come in not bothering to get up still slightly tired. Joseph had figured it must have been the new recruit for there team and he wasn't really in the mood for meeting him right now but he had better get things done and over with. Joseph was hit with a sudden stupid moment calling back out to the person "The living room is 4 doors to the left" He flicked off the tv and resumed reading his newspaper.

Outside, Keiran rolled his eyes. "What a warm and generous welcome. 'Oh, hello, random stranger. Come into my house and do what you like. I'm a rich bastard who can't be bothered to get up for you.'" He mocked, quietly to himself. With a heavy sigh, the teen let himself in. When the man gave directions on how to find him, Keiran ignored them in favour of looking around on his own. Hands in his pockets, the red-head explored the kitchen first. Finding the fridge, he cracked it open and sniffed around. "Hmm. Nice selection. At least I'll be well fed." Picking out some choice odds and ends that the average person might not want to put together, he set to work on making a snack. A sandwich to be precise. A sandwich consisting of apple slices, peanut butter, hot peppers, shredded cheese, and eggs. The eggs would need to be cooked first, but if the owner of the house had no problem letting him in and not bothering to supervise him, he could hardly be blamed if he treated the home like his own.

Joseph listened in on the thoughts of the man giving a little chuckle and closing the door with the remote. He decided to have a little fun after all it was impolite to ignore a person when they ask to see you. Joseph gave a little giggle pushing a few buttons on the remote first of the doors and windows shut tight, next the lights in the kitchen went off. Now that the guest was left in complete darkness there was only one thing left to do the second last button pulled all remaining objects under the walls and he was now in a completely black square room. He pushed the last button with a devious smile as water started to poor in the room. The man must now be soaked he would wait for awhile and see what happened after all Ani should be getting home in a hour or so maybe that would be enough time for him to soak.

Keiran looked around, taking in his situation with great speed. He sighed again, crossing his arms, as the water began to pour in. He looked fairly unbothered, except for the bored, perhaps tired pout. "Oooi. I was eatin'. Dammit." He cursed without any real feeling in the words, "Ah, well. Easy come, easy go." Keiran was ow more interested in the walls. Trapped inside, huh? "Come on, now, hmm? You know I'm here for the same reasons as you, now let me out before I have to break something. I don't like getting wet much."

Joseph gave a little chuckle as he heard the man calling out from inside and decided to let him out after all he didn't need Ani coming home to the two fighting not like it would be like any other time. Joseph pressed the button and the water turned off but pressed a different button so that the blow dryers turned on and a warming gust of wind started flying through the room "Tell me when you dry and then ill let you out" Joseph gave a little sigh and picked up his paper almost reaching the end of the section.

Keiran narrowed his eyes slightly as the sensation of dry air pelting him. Not exactly the most comfortable form of hospitality. When he was decently dry, and it didn't take long with what little he had worn here, he called out to his new teammate again. "I'm dry. So can I have my snack back now?" He asked, an unnatural growling coming from his stomach. "Yeah, yeah... I know." He mumbled to himself, looking exasperated. It sucked to always be hungry, even when you weren't. What a sucky eternal life to get stuck with. Then again, it wasn't eternal like this forever. That would change. At least, that was what he had gotten from what Esscherek had said to him.

Joseph looked up at the clock it was about time that Ani would be heading home for lunch soon. Joseph heard the mans calls again and pressed the button that opened up the doors but kept everything inside "You can wait until lunch then you can eat after all your other teammate should be on her way home" Joseph called out "Why not come out for a chat? At least then ill know what kind of person ill be working with." Joseph flipped over to the next section of the newspaper and continued reading on.
