It's Just Human Nature (MysteriousD/DaddysLittleSkank)

"I know what triggered it. Diego said he thought he loved Marceline and it freaked her out." Morgan said. "Should I use the night vision or infrared?"

"I remember she sang to me." Marceline looked at the picture. "Me too."

"Wait, WHAT?!" Finn and Jake said at the same time out loud and even Princess Bubblegum did a double take on that. "Well, that would explain it, since Marcy isn't good with emotional stuff like that, but it wouldn't cause Diego to freak out too... least not that bad," Finn said as he was thinking. "Yeah, but I wonder if there's more," Jake said as he and Finn were getting the stuff ready. Princess Bubblegum shot Morgan a look, silently saying not to mention the pregnancy.

"Hope your friend is okay. He did seemed nice," Ice King noted, wanting to try and clear the awkward silence of the atmosphere.

"Well you can ask Marceline when we get back." Morgan said as she silently sent a message back to Bubblegum saying no shit.

"Pretty sure he's my boyfriend now." Marceline said with a sigh. "Or at least at my dad tries to murder him. There is not gonna be an easy way to tell that man he's gonna be a grandpa..."

"Okay, so he's somewhere in this forest so we gotta get going. Morgan, you're going with Jake and I. PB's gonna catch up with Lady Rainicorn," Finn explained before Jake grew in size when he got out the window. Finn grabbed Morgan's hand and helped her up while Princess Bubblegum waited for Lady to arrive while she finishec calibrating the instruments.

"Hope he's okay, we gotta find him soon. Longer he is out there all lonely and messed p, the loopier he gets," Jake noted to the passengers.

"Wha?! He's youe boyfriend? If he is, why aren't you out there looking for him?" Ice King asked her. In surprising ways, Ice King can still come up with insightful inquiries.

Morgan pulled her infrared goggles and put them on. "Okay I'm ready." She wrapped her arms around Finn. "Let's go find him." Unlike before when she rode Jake she didn't close her eyes, she kept her eyes wide open scanning the forest for anything that could be Diego.

Marceline sighed, "Because a, your daughter can be a real pain the ass sometimes and b, I'm kinda sorta pregnant, which is why I'm pretty sure he's my boyfriend." Marceline was doing a good job of hiding it but she was genuinely worried about Diego, and she was blaming herself.

It took nearly half an hour, but they arrived in the forest. It was filled with taller trees and so on. "I'll stay here all stretched out. You all be careful," Jake said as he lowered Finn and Morgan. Finn had with him his old root sword, the one he used after his gold sword broke and before he got the family sword.

"That doesn't mean anything. You can someone is something, but ya gotta prove it. I don't say I'm Ice King because of it, btu because I have power and control over ice," Ice King says casually to Marceline. "Like, you do what you gotta do, like when ya fought that big shadow thing," he said, referring to when Marceline lost her vampiric powers.

Throughout the forest, the haggard Diego was walking, still in a state of shock and numbness, going through motions namely because of his robotic system. He was quiet yet stumbling. He was a bit far from where Finn and Morgan were at.

Morgan looked around them for any shapes that could be Diego, but nothing. "I don't see anything, he must be pretty far out in the there because I don't even see him way off in the distance."

"I would, but Finn and those guys got this." Marceline sighed. "Besides I have to worry about this." She placed her hand on her stomach before her eyes got big. "I do have an idea of how I can help but not leave." She grabbed her phone and called Morgan.

Morgan grabbed her phone from her pocket, saying, "We haven't found him yet."

"I have an idea of how you can find him." Marceline said quickly before Morgan had the time to hang up.

"Well since we have no idea where he is," Morgan sighed, "what is it?"

"Put the phone on speaker and let me try to talk to him. He has pretty good hearing," Marceline said excitedly vefore losing that excitement, "maybe me apologizing will get his attention."

"It's worth a shot." Morgan took the phone away from her ear and pressed the button to make it go into speaker mode. "Okay, you're on speaker."

"Diego?" Marceline asked, pausing for a moment to think of what else to say.

Jake was functioning as look out and waiting for Princess Bubblegum and Lady Rainicorn to arrive while Finn was also looking. He had been hearing rustling in the forest for a while. Finn remained in the green and began to try and corner the figure. He hoped it was Diego.

Finn's guess was correct. The rustling was heard by Diego, but in his numb state, he couldn't process what was going on consciously. Diego just lurched through the forest, trying to get into the quiet solicitude of the forest. This did get him to be closer to where Morgan was and she could see him.

Diego had looked worn out and completely exhausted. He also looked grater than usual, no doubt of his robotic system having to work overtime to keep him going. His eyes had bags and he had a rather hollow look in his eyes.

"...Morgan?" he managed to say in a quiet tone, his voice raspy.

"What are you doing here?" he asked her after s moment of silence, as if trying to wake up.

Morgan hung up her phone and pulled a bottle of water out of her bag, and offered it to Diego. "I'm here looking for you. You've been gone for three weeks, and Marceline's worried about you." Morgan said as she began guiding him towards where Jake was waiting. "She's back at her place with my dad, but I suggest you go take a shower and get some sleep before you go see her. I'll tell her you're okay."

Diego had begun walking toward Morgan before flinchng when he heard Marceline's name. He backed up a bit before stumbling and collapsing against a tree. "Why would she be worried about me? I ain't exactly worth it," Diego said quietly, bringing his knees up to him before wrapping his arms around them.

"Careful, don't wanna fall." Morgan held tighter to him. "Why don't you ask her?" She grabbed him and threw him over her shoulder. "Screw this. Let's go, Finn." She carried Diego out of the forest. "So Diego what's it gonna be talk to Marceline or go home for some rest?"

"Morgan, be careful!" Finn said when he came over before he saw Morgan tumble over trying to carry Diego. Diego was a slightly husky and chubby fellow, but there was also the fact that he was heavier than the average person due to the weight of the robots. "Yeah, he's heavier because of the cyborg parts. Took me a little while tog et used to it, but I got mad skills," Finn said before facing Diego. Diego didn't resist letting his friend carry him.

"How is he?" a sudden voice said as Princess Bubblegum arrived on Lady Rainicorn. She introduced herself to Morgan, but in Korean. "Oh yeah, this is Lady Rainicorn, my girlfriend. She only speaks in Korean though. She was introducing herself to you and she knows what you're saying," Jake explained to Morgan.

Diego was silent, but Finn figured it. "I think he needs to talk to Marcy about this. I don't know what's happening, but I think it involves her," Finn said after some thought.

"It's fine." Morgan said as she walked out of the forest. Once out she didn't stop, saying, "I'm sorry but I got to go. I'll talk to y'all later." She made her way to Marceline's place where she kicked the door to get Marceline's attention. Marceline opened the door and helped Morgan put Diego on the couch. "Thanks, Dad." Morgan said before showing him out and she turned to the couple, "y'all need to talk and I'll be upstairs if you need me." She then climbed the ladder.

Marceline sat on the couch next to him. "Are you okay?" She asked. "Do you need anything?"

While Morgan and Finn were carrying Diego, Diego let his mind somewha returned to a more dull state, in a state between conscious and unconscious. By the time he was stirred awake, he saw that Morgan placed him on the couch... next to Marceline. He became alert, like a starlted animal before scooting away from her on the couch.

"...Why you asking me? I'm the one who screwed up..." Diego said after a period of silence. He looked like he was about to crack.

"You didn't screw up, Diego, you just didn't know it freak me out." Marceline reached out and put her hand on his arm. "I'm the one that screwed up, I didn't want to admit that I'd overreacted, and if I had I would have realized you were missing, and you wouldn't have been in that forest for three weeks. You're a great guy and I think in a lot of ways, you're too good for me." Marceline retracted her hand and crossed her arm, bringing her legs up to her chest. "You saying you thought you loved me, freaked me out because... the only one that's ever said that to me was my mom. My dad never even said it. I'm not used to hearing it and sometimes I don't think anyone could actually love me."

"YOU'RE NOT A SCREW-UP!" Diego suddenly said as something crakced inside of him. Maybe it was the result of slight madness from a lack of sleep, maybe it was because on how she confessed something personal to it or whatever, but he reached a limit. In bottling things up.

"You're Marceline the Vampire Queen. You're one of the coolest people I know and I... I didn't mean to hrut you... I don't mean to hurt anyone!" Diego said as he began it. His total meltdown. "Ever since I was a freakkin kid, I thought I was a screw-up. That my creation into world of inanity was a mistake... some kind of sick joke. I couldn't make friends... I had trouble udnerstanding people... the world didn't seem to make any sense and yet it looked like no one else was going through the trouble. I... I thought I didn't deserve to have friends... that something was wrong with me," Diego said. He had stood up from the couch and he had went on his knees as he opened years of wounds up to Marceline.

"I kept telling myself. I wasn't a screw-up. I'm not... I'm not. Yet all I seemd to do was mess up. That if something happened, no one would care. I only felt like I had my family backing me up, but they wouldn't be around forever... That I'd never be good enough... for anyone. That my existence was burden or a istake," he said as he was tearing up on his knees. "Then I ended up signing up for some experiment cause I needed money and became the only successful cyborg... just in time for me to get frozen and say goodbye to al that I knew..." he said.

"I... I didn't mean to spook you... or freak you out. No one ever looked at me... or held me.. or touched me... made me feel like I was worht something. That someone incredible like you thought I was good enough... especiall someone who I love..." he said as he grasping for breath. He was on his hands and knees looking down. He was shaking.

Marceline got off the couch and kneeled infront of Diego, pulling him into a hug. "Diego, you are the sweetest, funniest guy I know. I'm not that great dealing with emotions-"

"No shit! That's how we got in this mess!" Morgan yelled from upstairs.

"Shut up, Morgan!" Marceline yelled back. She turned back to Diego, letting him out of the hug. "Look at me." She demanded in a soft tone. "You are not a screw up, you're my boyfriend, and more importantly," she paused unsure of how he'd react to the news, "more importantly, you are the father of my unborn baby." She smiled placing a hand on her stomach.

"You gonna be a dad!" Morgan yelled again, causing Marceline to roll her eyes.

Diego was surprised when he felt Marceline's arms go around him. However, he quickly hugged her tightly, not wanting to let go. The wamrth and comfort was just too wonderful for him to want to let go. He looked into her eyes, his eyes filled with vulnerability and affection. He did visably relaxed when she called him his boyfruend, but before he could process all of that, he heard her call her a dad.

"... Wait, what?! How... I didn't even cum inside of you!" Diego said. He didn't look upset or anything at all, just confused and surprised. "But wait... we're gonna be parents?" he said to her.

"A chick can pregnant from pre-cum and the chance go up if y'all had sex several time in one go." Morgan yelled.

"Morgan your commentary is not needed." Marceline said.

"Clearly it is needed coz y'all didn't take a sex-ed class." Morgan replied. "Also you gonna need to avoid hot tubs, people who smoke, booze, cat litter, sitting or standing too long, drugs, medications, hot dogs, caffeine, reptiles, x-rays, microwaves, electric blankets, water beds, pesticides, drinking tap water, chemical fumes, and massages."

Marceline rolled her eyes again, and kept talking to Diego. "Yes, we're gonna be parents. There's a little Diego inside me."

Diego was just there taking everything in regards to all of this. He did find it rathe rhilarious at everything Morgan was saying though. However, when Marceline spoke to him once more, everything clicked in his head. "This... this is... THIS IS WONDERFUL!" Diego said as his exhausted and weary look became one of utter joy and glee. He wrapped his hands arund Marceline and began to twirl her around.

"We're gonna be parents! We're gonna be the best parents!" Diego said ecstastically before he pulled her in for a kiss. However, when he put her down, he felt it hit him. All the exhaust and fatigue from the past few weeks hit him hard. "Oh... oh wow.. feeling tired. Guess I didn't rest at all since those weeks," Diego said woozily before he collapsed out of exhaustion, falling into a peaceful sleep for the first time in a long while.

"Did he pass out?" Morgan asked, still yelling from upstairs.

"Yeah." Marceline replied.

Morgan climbed down, picked up Diego, and placed him on the couch. She looked at Marceline and said, "You also have to avoid heavy lifting."

As Morgan placed Diego on the couch, her phone rang. It was Finn. "Hey morgan, how's Diego doing? Everything okay?" He asked her with concern. They had all made it home alll right and Princess Bubblegum said she was going to investigate something in the meanwhile.

Diego was currently asleep though not wholly as he subconsciously reached out to grab Marceline's hand, as if wanting to seek comfort from her.

Marceline chuckled before she climbed onto the couch and laid next to him, resting her head on his shoulder.

"Yeah, he's asleep. Why don't you guys come over? I think Marceline has something she wants to tell you." Morgan said getting a dirty look from Marceline.

Diego murmured in his sleep before wrapping his arm around Marceline and cuddling against her. His body wamrth went to hers as he smied at her.

"Nah, I got the feeling that Diego and Marceline had long days. Whatever she wants to tell us, she'll tell us when she's ready so don't try and pressure her into biz," Finn says to Morgan.

"Okay, but I'm gonna make meatloaf for dinner." Morgan said teasingly, knowing full well meatloaf was Finn's favorite.

Marceline rolled her eyes before closing them to take a nap. She didn't mind Finn coming over and so she told Morgan, "Tell him to come over in like two hours."

"Marceline said you can come over in like two hours." Morgan repeated.
