You are My Universe (MysteriousD/DaddysLittleSkank)

"Yeah, I'll look over some of the stuff at the bookstore after we closed up," Diego noted. "Pearl, I would like you and Steven to go on a mission tonight to check on some nearby areas," Garnet asked Pearl for her to do. "Sure! I'll do it," Steven told Garnet with his usual happy smile and confidence.

While Diego awaited Pearl's answer, he kept looking through the binder. Something about it seemed a bit strange yet familiar to him. He definitely needed to go and look for this. He also would need to check the internet for anything more.

"Okay." Pearl said with a nod and smile. She was a bit disappointed that she couldn't spend that time with Diego but was also happy to spend some quality time with Steven.

Rai put her binder in her backpack so she could have her father translate it the best he could later that night.

When everyone was getting ready to head out, Diego went over to Pearl, giving her a hug and a kiss. "I'll see you tomorrow, sweetie," Diego told Pearl with a smile. He then headed home to look over the books and prepare for a long night of research.

Meanwhile, Steven looked over the map of where he and Pearl would be heading. "After I finish looking stuff up with Pearl, wanna meet up for dinner?" Steven asked Rai.

Pearl kissed him back and whispered in his ear, teasingly, "you'll be seeing a lot of me tomorrow." To add to the tension she put her arms around him and tried to, as non-chalalntly as possible, squeeze his butt.

"Sure," Rai said as she hugged Steven, "I'll meet you at the diner." She was already planning something out.

Diego shivered abit, but smiled when he heard Pearl's sultry tone and he felt her try and sqeeze his butt. Diego was surprised by how a bit more forward Pearl was becoming, especially how no one seemed to notice at all. Nonetheless, he smiled before he kissed her on her forehead before he headed out.

"All right!" Steven said in a cheerful tone. He saw Amethyst go to her room, probably to rest while Garnet looked like she was in thought. "Ready to get going, Pearl?" he asked her.

Pearl watched Diego walk away for a bit, enjoying the view, before turning her focus back to what was happening. "Of coarse." She said confidently. "I'm ready to leave when you are."

Rai quickly made her way to the diner where she went about preparing for dinner.

Steven led Pearl out to go and ready to check for anything weird around Beach City. "How is your relationship with Diego going?" Steven asked Pearl. Even now, he saw her as like one of his moms.

"It's going good." Pearl responded with a smile. "Although I feel guilty that I'm stopping him from having a normal human relationship." She sighed and chuckled. "Rose felt the same way with Greg and I never understood what she meant until now."

Steven stopped a bit before he went to give Pearl a hug. He grew quite a bit, but he still had a way to go. By the time he would be fully grown up, he'd probably as tall as his dad if not taller.

"You're both happy being with one another. How he looks at you is the same way Ruby and Sapphire look at each other," Steven comforted her with a smile.

Pearl smiled, and responded, "I know. I just can't help but wonder sometimes." She hugged Steven and added, "That's how your parents looked at each other." She thought back to the time before Steven and how the romance between Greg and Rose had seemed like a whirlwind to her and the other Gems but was really a pretty good chunk of Greg's life.

"Diego once told me that he wondered if you and the others thought if Gems lived too long," Steven said as he was thinking on those words. He remembered how Diego said immortality was a burden. "He also said that it was quality over quantity," he added.

"It was never an issue for us, until your father came along." Pearl explained. "But now that we have you, we know we live too long. It's great watching you grow up but there's going to be a point when you're no longer with us."

Steven hugs Pearl once more to comfort her. "Well, maybe the fact that stuff ends is why it has meaning. Otherwise, we'd probably take it for granted," Steven figured as he held Pearl. "I mean, Dad said that too, and so we gotta enjoy each day we have then," he added.

Pearl laughed and ruffled Steven's hair, saying, "You just keep getting smarter and smarter. Rose would be so proud." While talking she was managing o scan the surroundings for anything unusual.

"And she'd be happy for you too," Steven told her with a smile. "Mom just wanted us to be happy. I kinda spazed out on why I was here, but then I saw a video and they told me they just wanted me to be happy," Steven explained with a smile.

"So be with Diego if he makes you happy being with him," he told her with a big smile.

Pearl chuckled, before saying, "I know. Rose was just wanted everyone she cared about to be happy. She truly was amazing, and I wish you could've met her." Pearl looked off in the distance in a reminiscing way, "We didn't understand why she wanted to have you so badly, I still don't fully understand it. But I know how happy she was in those..." she paused to think, "nine months? She rubbed her belly a lot and talked to you a lot; told you stories, sang to you, talked about how much she and Greg loved you, how strong she thought you were based solely on you moving, how she wished she could hold you in her arms even just once. And she swore, you understood her. She even told me once that you loved listening to her voice because when she talked to you, you calmed down."

Steven remaiend quiet as he heard Pearl talk about his mom. Each word just made him smile even more about everything and how she did in such. He made peace with his mom and such and was happy to be her son.

When she finished, he hugged Pearl from behind. "And all of you did the same for me when I was born," Steven said to Pearl with a smile.

Pearl hugged him back saying, "Not at first. We did visit you but it was kinda like if I asked you to build a rocket, you wouldn't understand it, we didn't understand you. It was so foreign that you couldn't take care of yourself when you were born and that you were so small and fragile."

"I know, but you all were willing to learn and such. Dad said that he knew that you all tried really hard," Steven told her with a smile. He was happy his dad and the Gems got along super nicely. Heck, Greg would sometimes even refer to them as his sisters.

"We all come so far in growing, haven't we?" he said as he looked at the beautiful sky, while also looking for anything interesting.

"Yeah, and now we know not to kidnap you." Pearl said jokingly while referring to the time they'd kidnapped Steven when he was a baby.

Steven chuckled at the memories of it. "Though I'm happy we were all able to help one another. Dad says he's happy to have grown closer to everyone of you," Steven told her with a smile as he finished the last of his checkups for unusual Gem activity.

Pearl did her best to hide it but the fact that someone was happy to be close to her, was amazing even if she and Greg hadn't always gotten along.

Steven jumped up in the air to get a better look. "Looks like we're all good here," he noted to her before smiling when he caught Pearl smiling at hearing what he said. He hugged her once more. "You know you mean alot to us," he told her with a smile before he egan leading them back to the house.

"Good." Pearl stated as she hugged Steven back. "I know." She ruffled Steven's hair. "I forget sometimes, but I know you guys are always there."

Steven smiled at Pearl. "Sound I'll be taller than you," he told her with a smile as he saw the house was in the distance that they were almost there. "It does look it has been quiet for a while," he told her.
