Greetings ye wanderers of the sun-lit lands, where the winds flow freely, where the ceiling has been shorn off and the great torch scorches the blistering skin of the world. But here, so far away from all you know, all that you have talked the long days of your life, well, you are not prepared. For beneath your feet, lays a whole other world, that you have only glimpsed in the shadows of your nightmares.

Some small havens are much like the surface, their inhabitants hard to distinguish from those above. They tend to their mushroom fields, to their pools of fish. They delve into veins of ore, and carve stone for their homes. They live and love, raising children, worshiping their gods, and fear the dark beyond the walls of their small settlements.

For in the darkness, monsters and worse lurk. Some where once like them, but slid into depravity and from civilization into barbarism. Some ceased that downward spiral, and cling to the edges of the bright communities, to plunder, rape and fight. Others fell so far into the darkness that they have regressed, lost their former reason and knowledge, becoming beasts in loosely human shapes. Some of the things in the dark are animals, adapted by the ages for life under the stone. Still others are people far older then mere humanity, and have little enough love for that fledgling race.

But, no matter how you arrived, there remains one question.... how long can you survive, as you search for the way out?

Greetings all. So, I'm here looking for players for a Conan RPG game that takes place in a massive cave system, that should be enough to lose the players in quite effectively. But, what is the premise of the game?

All of the players, no more then four, shall begin play with a maximum of a loincloth and perhaps one weapon, on the shores of a small pond in a cave underground, with a waterfall splashing into the pool, and glowing moss on the sides of the cave. But, none of the characters will know how they arrived, particularly at the same place and time. This is due to the fact that I'm not requiring you to sync up your characters backstories.

So, the character creation details. Anything from here is fine.... with the following exceptions!

1) We are using the Temptress from the Core rules, but the multi-class options and special abilities are fine.
2) We are using the Savant class instead of Scholar. As it's a fixed version anyway....
3) Sorcery Feats you can look at and some Feats of Desire are in the second post
4) Nobles Wealth ability.... well, you are not starting with any extra items, but you can feel free to go high quality instead. As for wealth in later years? It'll take some set up, but it's more then possible to acquire yearly riches.

So......

Character Creation!

1) 5d6b3 (roll 5 six sided dice and take the best three) or 32 point buy
2) Starting level is 1, and you get max HP for your HD
3) Starting gear is a loincloth and one weapon that you can afford

Now, I'd prefer female/herm players, but... I'll see just who applies ;)

Submitted Sheets

Khan; Emanaia Lajaria, Zignarian Temptress that seems focused towards the social arts... and has plans for fencing skills.

Tenshi; Anita, a Zignarian Temptress that is currently a better fencer then Emanaia, and does have an advantage in the intelligence department.

Vallah, a Vanir Barbarian. Strong, tough, and deadly, also a brute force fighter rather then a finesse focused one.

kckolbe; Killian The Red, a Nemidian Scholar, that plans on taking the Observer multiclassing path. Has learned secret mystical secrets from the far east.

So, barring any new feat suggestions from you or fighting style things, I *think* Killian is done. I'd already taken pains to ensure that he made more sense thematically than numerically. For example, I figure that his learning *any* sorcery would be difficult, and learning a rare one even more so, so I decided that being a heavy traveler made the most sense, so made him an explorer/trail guide, one that learns from the people he escorts (with or without their consent). To do that, I gave him ranks in Bluff, Craft (cartography), Decipher Script, Diplomacy, Forgery, Gather Information, Knowledge (geography), Listen, Search, Ride, and Spot. The majority of those skills are unlikely to come into play in a cave-based adventure, but I saw all of them as necessary to his ambitious history.

I'd really like to point out that he has 7 ranks in cha-based skills, despite a cha modifier of 0.

Which, is actually fairly amusing. Also, with some training, I'll allow your mount class features to apply to Monitor Lizards.

Just one character per player, mostly to keep post time up and headaches down. So! I shall be whipping up the various threads tomorrow, including the IC after the rest.

Oh, and I'm not ALWAYS going to enforce the High Living rule.... unless you make it obvious that's what your doing in your downtimes.

I'm very excited, Troll. I've been wanting to play in a game like this with you for a while now.

And I'm glad the high living rule won't go to far. Will be interesting to see how much high living is possible down here :)

Not that easily in most places, hence, why I'm not going to bother enforcing it. Granted, if you come across a food cache, and decide that you'll be spending the week getting high on shrooms, guzzling drink and feasting on mushrooms and fish? You'll run through it quickly.

That said! Character Profiles, and OOC fresh and ready! IC opening post shall come in a bit after the Pepto Bismol starts working.

Sure, as long as you don't step on anyone's toes.... though I'm thinking I know what your planning?

That I did ^-^ Happy to be playing with you. May be willing to pass along some mystical instruction.... if you can make it worth my time by the way ;)

No worries. I'd considered going pact as well. Your char will definitely be a more accomplished sorcerer and academic. I'm going for a middle of the road adventurer since I promised I'd try a foolish concept to make up for my wonderful stat rolls.

And I'm a sorceress-priest from a culture rife with them, hailing from a noble family, with lots of snark and subtle, or not so subtle, 'I'm better then you'. As I could have gotten that second sorcery style... but I wanted to pick up that Noble Blood feat instead :D Still, so long as I avoid being an Asian magical Cersei Lannister? Should be fun.

Also, Meihui will be friendlier with Kilian once she recognizes his scholarly attributes/possibility to give her something approaching 'civilized' conversation :p

*Grins*

Oh, dear. I really should reeread those too!

("Could you please not sacrifice the inkeepers daugther? I know she's a virgin, and you need your strength for the upcoming battle, but seriously, he's our host!")

Actually, the particular pact I made is more interested in virgin males of at least puberty. As it is, the usual reason for a female virgin to be sacrificed was more for symbolic reasons, and the fact that a female sacrifice was a bigger commitment then the male one. So the Innkeepers daughter may live.... his son on the other hand?

Yeah, that was one of the things I liked about Nemedian culture, and it should serve him well. In addition, while they both have a lot of skills, they actually don't have a ton of them in common. In addition, at level 2 their bonuses in Arcana, Nature and Decipher Script should be the same, which is great from an RP standpoint, representing equality of raw knowledge. It also means that either one is best off assisting the other than attempting to figure something out alone. From there, the disparity is what you would expect given their differences in background and experience.

Sounds good. Also, she is planning on being a straight Savant, with maybe a few of noble somewhere along the way looking tempting, but unlikely due to the reduction to her Magic Attack Bonus. Also as we have a lovely temptress in the party, she may focus more on knowledge skills, though she would keep some of her others fairly high, and might get together to plan some conquests.

But, she will be more then willing to work with him, and as mentioned, would be open to sharing magical secrets she learns from her demonic patrons with him... if he can make it worth her while.
