Requiem of Destruction (1x1 with DarkMudkip)

Ren felt his face flush. “O-Oh, I um.. I just do whatever cap’n tells me to, kinda pick up the slack.” He answered with a sheepish smile.

"Really?" She looked disappointed, "I thought everyone in his crew worked like some kind of cog. It's a shame to hear you're viewed no higher than a bolt keeping everything together.."

He felt his face flush hot, and he quickly averted his gaze. He didn’t know what to say, Akihime was right, he only did the jobs no one wanted to, and at the end of the day, cooked the food, he wasn’t all that important. Is that why Motochika had picked him for this job?

"I suppose it is to be expected from an ogre." She said, leaning back a bit in her seat, "Chosokabe has never been very kind to anyone who isn't his wife."

That quieted Ren instantly, making him look down at the empty plate before him. “Oh.” Was all that came out.

Once the food was brought out, the two ate in silence, Ren stealing glances at Akihime every now and again, but saying nothing.

Ren looked up from his food, shaking his head. “No, no! You’re fine!” He held up his hands and grinned.

“You’re fine! Promise!” He said, then took another bite of his food; was she right? Did Motochika find him expendable?

When dinner was finished, Akihime invited Ren to walk around the garden with her. Yukimura was sleeping anyway, and usually when he did he was out for a while. Ren would be safe for now.

Yukimura seemed to tire more easily than usual, but was allowed his rest when he decided to do so.

Ren followed after Akihime, finding it a bit nerve wracking to be alone with her, it made his heart race and his hands sweat.

“Ah, w-well..” He gave a sheepish grin. “A little, you are a powerful Lady after all.” He admitted.

Ren’s face flushed and he glanced to the ground. “I know that.” He said softly, feeling his heart pounding in his chest. Gods this was almost like a date.

Ren looked around at the finely manicured garden, there were some pretty flowers, but they weren’t really of his interest. “I suppose it is pretty quiet.” He said with a nod.

“I love the ocean.” He said proudly, smiling softly. “I was born in a small fishing village along the coast.”

She gestured for him to follow and she moved up from the gardens to the top of the wall. From this spot you could see the Seto Sea from beyond the vast forest. She smiled softly, "I never have anyone to share this view with. And now I do...so thank you, Ren-san..."
