A new adventure (Mera)

Shieldon had one more move, protect. It used it to block the attack, then launched a stone edge attack from up close.

Larvitar once more took the attack without seeming to try dodging. Something was pushing it past its normal limits, because usually, two hits like that would have stopped Larvitar. However, instead of stopping, another Revenge got swung straight at Shieldon at point blank.

Shieldon now jumped out of the way. It knew from experience and playfights not to use protect more then once in a row. It launched a flash cannon attack at larvitar.

Larvitar sidestepped the cannon, and tensed a moment before a rippling earthquake blasted throught he field, forcing Atem to shift just to stay on his feet. He'd never seen Larvitar use that attack...

Shieldon barely managed to stay on its feet. It launched a stone edge attack again. But by now it was getting tired.

Again, Larvitar countered with its own stone edge attack, then used Dark pulse again. It was tiring, Atem knew that, but it was clearly overdoing itself with the attacks. He wasn't sure what had gotten into Larvitar.

Shieldon countered it with flash cannon then used metal sound again. Eva plugged her ears again. Then stone edge followed quickly.

Larvitar countered metal sound with Screech. It barely heard the Metal Sound over its own screech, and this time didn't bother meeting the stone edge. It instead launched an intense blast of energy right at the Shieldon, a hyper beam. Atem looked clearly surprised. This wasn't normal, not at all.

Shieldon was too tired to dodge or do anything. It got hit and passed out.

Eva smiled. "That's a tough one." Eva said. Once trained it would get even stronger. She knew that eventually she'd be up against shieldon.

Larvitar finally stopped once the Shieldon went down. Atem tossed a pokeball to get the Shieldon, but almost forgot to pick up the ball as, to his amazement, Larvitar glowed white, and slowly evolved into a Pupitar. "That... explains a lot... Holy nuts, I thought you'd gone berserk." He said to the newly evolved Pupitar. It wiggled a bit in response.

"Nope, he was close to evolving. Looks like it's your lucky day. An evolved pokémon and a new one." Eva said. Gardevoir then teleported them back to where they had planned to camp last night so they could continue their journey. Eva recalled gardevior and the two remaining shieldon ran wild again, but one returned. A girl. It knocked Eva over and tapped its snout against an empty pokéball. Eva looked surprized and got up. The pokéball disappeared though. She had to get shieldon back, it would be scared with strangers.

Atem nodded. "indeed my lucky day." He said, smiling and getting the Shieldon, and recalling Pupitar. He went to Eva to be teleported, and watched the two shieldon run off, only to have one come back, knock Eva over... then poke a pokeball and disappear?

"Uhm... what just happened there?" He asked, a little confused.

"That's simple. When you already have six pokémon with you when you catch another it's directly transported to the proffessor's lab. Proffessor Oak in my case. I need to go get shieldon, the poor thing would be scared around strangers. I'll be right back." She said and teleported with gardevoir to the pokémon center. She returned in a few minutes. "Alright let's get going, we got a long way ahead of us." Eva said and started to walk.

Atem nodded. "Ah... okay then. That had me worried for a moment." He said. He waited patiently for her to come back, and nodded. "Yep, let's get going." He said, walking with her. He smiled. "Long roads aren't too bad. It's nice to have company though." He said, nodding.

"I know." Eva said. They walked until the end of the afternoon. She found a nice place to set up camp. She let her pokémon out. Pikachu was no longer there, instead there was shieldon who looked very happy to see her again. Everyone said hello and was friendly to shieldon. They all helped out and Eva showed shieldon what it could do to help.

Atem was happy to just walk with her, and when they stopped, he let his pokemon out. He went about giving his Shieldon a few healing berries to help keep it in good shape after what had happened earlier. It was a little wary at first, but as soon as it got used to the others, it seemed more relaxed.

The two shieldon still had each other though. Once dinner was ready everyone ate. Shieldon liked the food a lot. Eva had scanned it and it was older then the one Atem had and knew a few more moves as well. But there would be a lot of training before it could match up to her other pokémon. After the dishes were done it was time for some training.

Atem went about feeding his pokemon in the usual way, except he gave the Shieldon a few different berries, mostly to see what kind it liked the most. He knew he'd have to train the shieldon quite a bit, but it would be worth it. After dinner, he went to train with his pokemon.

Shieldon was eager to train. She liked strong opponents. Eva was happy to see the little pokémon was so driven. After several hours of training she recalled them. But shieldon wanted to stay out of the pokéball. That was fine with her. She got ready for the night and crawled into her sleeping bag.

Atem trained a lot, going on a bit later than Eva did. He tried out all the things he could with Shieldon as well as Pupitar, who was showing a lot of potential in power. He went to sleep after Eva, leaving Ninetales out and using her natural heat along with some blankets to keep him warm as he slept.

They had arrived at the Eterna gym. A grass type gym, that was obvious. "You can go first this time." Eva said. Gardenia seemed like a very kind young woman. Two challengers and she'd face them both right away. Eva took her place on the bleachers and let shieldon out to watch.

Atem smiled and nodded. "Allright then. Let's see what this gym leader's got." He said. He went to his side of the arena, prepared. It was the same as before, a 3 on 3 battle. Atem wasn't going to send out Ninetales first. That would have been too easy. Dusknoir was once again the first choice. It appeared and cackled at its opponent, Gardenia's turtwig. The battle started, and Dusknoir had already sprung into action, throwing a punch from the shadows that knocked the smaller pokemon away.

Turtwig didn't look happy, and at Gardenia's command, launched Razor Leaf at Dusknoir. Dusknior seemed to split apart, and Turtwig was met with the leering gaze of multiple Dusknoir. A volley of shadow balls quickly put the Turtwig out of commission.

That had seemed far too easy.

Eva watched with shieldon sitting next to her. Petting it every once in a while. Shieldon was watching every move made. The first round had ended way too fast. Eva wondered what Gardenia was up to.

The second pokemon up was Cherubi. Dusknoir looked at the little pokemon again, seemingly insulted by the smallness of the opponent. However, it screeched unpleasantly as a Sunny Day spell lit the room brightly, making it difficult for Dusknoir to see. Without seeing, though, it faded into the shadows, and once again popped out, swinging, but missing at the Cherubi, which was quite a bit more agile than it looked. Cherubi glowed momentarily before launching a solarbeam at Dusknoir. Dusknoir crumpled under the intense light, barely seeming conscious.

"Dusknoir, return." Atem commanded. Dusknoir did just that, floating back to Atem and hiding in his shadow.

Atem frowned. That little pokemon was going to pose a problem. He sent out Milotic, which was a rather odd choice to fight grass with. Cherubi began to glow, but the glow faded as it began to rain in the arena at Milotic's command. It was going to be much harder to charge without light.

"Milotic, Icy Wind." Atem said. A chill blast scoured the arena, chasing the little pokemon about until a frosty burst hit it dead center, knocking it out of the arena. It didn't look like it would get back up.

That cherubi knew sunny day. It activated chlorophyll. It became twice as fast. That was a good strategy from Gardenia. But now it was knocked out. What would her last pokémon be?
