With Aiden out the door, his mother turned to face Crista once more, smiling brightly at her, "I've always wanted a daughter..."
"Oh," Crista started to tear up once again as she sat down upon the seat in his mothers room, "Don't say things like that. I don't want to cry. I'm suppose to be happy."
"You can cry and be happy at the same time my dear girl," her mother-in-law came to her side and took her hands, "It's perfectly normal and wonderful. NOW!" She snapped back into her mother planning a wedding mode, "We need to get you something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue at once! Oh so much to do! We have to get you all ready!"
"Actually..." Crista bit her lip a bit, "Could you... I mean I know you have your ways so, could you do something for me?"
The queen mother smirked, "Anything...."
Crista asked the queen mother for a favor and she gladly sent out her servants to make it so. Rebeca arrived a while later, bringing with her a lovely hair comb, "You can borrow this! Oh! I can't believe you are doing this! It's so romantic to just.... get married! Oh romantic!"
Crista couldn't stop herself from smiling the whole while they all hustled and hurried to make everything perfect. They did up her hair with the lovely comb in it though most still cascaded down her back. The queen mother provided the something blue arriving from the castle gardens with a bouquet for her to carry of white flowers mixed with the last bit of blue wood forget-me-nots for the season. She provided the new as well as she had her personal hand maiden rush to the market to purchase a new necklace she gifted her with. Something simple, yet elegant to match the blue forget-me-nots in the flowers.
That last bit of the work had to wait however until the thing Crista asked for to arrive. The something old. They brought the trunk into the room and Crista wiped the dust from it. Her mother's hope chest. She had hidden it away in the stables once Juliet took over control of the house so she'd never get a hold of her mothers keepsakes. Opening it for the first time ever, Crista found the only things she had left of her mother. Digging through the quilts on the top, she uncovered below letters from her mother to her father. Love letters. She could only bring herself to read one of them before she had to put the rest away. It was so heartwarming. The words soaked with the love between her parents in their youth. The rest were best kept private. Only to be touched forever by her parents eyes.
It was beyond the letters she found what she had been looking for...

The sun was just starting to set a few hours later when the wedding began to commence. For a speedy wedding, thrown together at the last minute, it was actually a lovely affair. His mother had the last of the seasons flowers cut and decorated the small family chapel, alight with candles that helped to illuminate the room as the light from the setting sun dimmed the space.
The arrival of the priest, who urged Aiden to come stand beside him at the alter, with Christian right behind him. "I didn't think I would be the one to have the honor of wedding you, your highness. It pleases this old man that I get the chance and that the high courts priest will be second in line to bless you both."
Aiden's mother came trotting down the isle then to her son, kissing him on the cheek, "Are you ready?" she asked him, smile on her face.
