Where's My Happy Ending? ((butterfly0408/Kolath))

As she stood and started to get ready to leave Aiden stood and came over standing just behind her. he kissed her neck and slipped his hands around her waist. â??I donâ??t want you to go my love.â? He gently turned her around his hand slipping under her chin lifting her eyes to look into his. â??Am I that much of a painful memory that you try to stay away from me?â? he really didnâ??t understand why she always seemed to be in a hurry to leave right when they were having a good time.

She looked up into his eyes, able to see the hurt there and suddenly feeling horribly guilty that she was the cause of it. "Aiden..." she started softly as her own hand rose up to stroke his cheek, "What would people say about the king having an unmarried woman sleeping in his bed?" She smiled slightly and got up on her tip toes to kiss his cheek, "They would say awful things, that's what. I don't want to go either, but don't have much of a choice I'm afraid. I will remain my my home and you in yours until we are married."

Aidenâ??s hand came up to hers on his cheek and sighed deeply. He knew that she was right about how people would think. He didnâ??t want to ruin her reputation any more then Heylel already had. She already would be struggling with the stigmatism of being a sex slave to those that knew, and staying over in the kings room would put all sorts of stories out about the two of them. That was the last thing that Crista needed in her life. he gently leaned in resting his forehead against hers. â??I know Cristaâ?¦you had better go while I can let you. I love you and donâ??t want any more harm coming to you of any kind.â? He kissed her lips softly.

She was touched. Really. That he understood her fears and would let her go even though he wanted her to remain in his bed truly did touch her. "Thank you Aiden," she replied with a smile and with that, the two headed to where they have dismounted from they horses in the first place. Just like always, things were already prepared for her departure. There were many people around so it seemed impossible that they would be able to share a private moment together before she departed and so she headed straight for her horse where Aiden helped her mount this time upon her still rather uncomfortable sidesaddle. She looked down at him, feeling so disappointed that she didn't know when she'd see him again. She just didn't know what to say.

Aiden was struggling the entire way down to the court yard. He wanted nothing more then to have Crista stay with him and never leave his side again. He tried his hardest to work out a way that she could stay with him but not ruin her reputation, but no matter how hard he worked at it he could come up with nothing. As he lifted her into the saddle he realized that there was no way for her to stay with him as long as they were unmarried.

The idea hit him with almost physical intensity. As long as they werenâ??t married she would have to keep this distance between them. He held onto the lead of the horse keeping her from leaving as he thought over everything that he would need to carry this plan off. It was going to be possible. Looking up at Crista he reached up taking her hands looking into her eyes. â??Crista you will not stay with me as long as we are not married?â?

Crista had just taken up the reigns of her horse to start for home when he took the control of her horse from her and took her hand as well. A little confused, she just glanced down at him. Why was he asking this? He knew the answer. Didn't they just have this conversation? "Aiden, you know I can't. After the wedding we will have forever." She sighed heavily, "Though I will admit. It does feel like forever will take FOREVER to get here. A fortnight isn't that long.... right?"

Aiden kissed her hand lightly right where her ring would sit. â??I donâ??t want to let you out of my sight ever again Crista and there is only one way to make that happen.â? He reached up taking her other hand holding both as he looked up into her eyes. â??Marry me Crista. Forget all the pomp and ceremony, forget the guests and the reception. Just marry me right now in the family chapel.â?

Crista could not control whatever look of shock was suddenly upon her face as she looked down at Aiden. Oh and there was shock there to say the least. Eyes wide and jaw just... dropped. "Aiden....... I...." she didn't know what to say, struggling for the proper words. Finding of course all the wrong ones along the way first, "We don't have anything at all ready. We have no priest, no witnesses, no... no best man or maid of honor. What would I wear? What would people say when they found out. It's like... are you asking me to basically elope with you?" One thing was for sure though. She had not said no yet.

â??I am.â? He slipped his hands around her waist and gently lifted her out of the saddle. He wasnâ??t being rough and pulling her out of the saddle but he was not taking no for a answer. He pulled her gently out of the saddle lowering her down his body again. â??I am asking you to elope with me. My mother would be glad to be a witness, and our personal priest is always on call to the royal family.â? His eyes never left hers as he slowly lowered her, â??Iâ??m sure if we sent a fast horse and rider they could catch up to Christian and Rebecca. Can you think of better choices for our best man and maid of honor.â? Finally he set her on her feet and leaned in lightly passing his lips over hers, â??You look lovely as you are in what you are wearing, I canâ??t think of a time you have looked more beautiful.â? He dropped to one knee taking her hands again. â??Will you marry Crista Blakesfield?â?

Crista was speechless as she listened and watched his every word, every move. Tears were starting to well up in her eyes as she struggled to respond. "Aiden...." she had put up fight after fight before this moment to prevent him from making the wrong choice in marrying her. Her. The sex slave. The barren wasteland. The plain, average, ordinary girl. But at long last, she was tired of fighting him, especially since it was exactly what she would want as well. "....yes. I'll marry you. Today."

He stood and wrapped his arms around her kissing her deeply one arm around her waist the other hand behind her neck holding her in the deep kiss. He didnâ??t care about anyone around them all he cared about right now was this woman before him that had just made him the luckiest man alive. He finally broke the kiss pressing his forehead against hers still holding her tight against him. â??Come my love we have a lot to get done in a short time.â? His arm still held her tight as he turned them back again toward the castle.

"Your telling me," she said laughing as she took his hand and the two sped off back into the castle, leaving a confused bunch of the servants in the stable yard.

The first, and most important stop was of course to the mother of the groom who was absolutely elated with the idea, though she reminded them that even if they did do this, they would still need the large wedding to recognize Crista as the crowned queen. But they could still get away with a little pre-wedding wedding to... well... wed them. And at once, his mother got into gear with making the arrangements. "I will send a messenger to retrieve Christan and Rebeca. And I will need to inform the priest. And then we'll have a lovely dinner to celebrate with just the few of us. And.. OH! Aiden you have to go!" His mother started pushing him towards the door, "It's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding. Now you've already seen her today but maybe we can still get a little luck if you leave not and don't see her again for a few hours until the ceremony. Shoo! Shoo!"

Crista laughed as she watched her soon to be husband pushed around by his mother.

Aiden was glad to see that he had been right about his mother being completely on their side in this. However her pushing him out of the room brought a string of objections to his lips. â??Now just wait one minute here! You canâ??t just push me out I am the king!â? he had turned around only ot have the door slammed shut just a inch from his nose. â??Well!â? he turned away in a huff marching down the hallway. He was a little bit of a spoiled brat sometimes and wanted his own way in everything. However he soon realized that he was getting to marry the woman of his dreams and that was all that mattered.

He went back to his chambers and started to work on getting ready. He was half way through a bath when Christian walked in to help him. the remaining time was quickly spent getting ready, after sending Christian to find out from the women about the style. Aiden put on a simple pair of pants, soft leather boots and a fine poetâ??s shirt that left his upper chest bare, his sword was at his side and soft leather gloves that would normally be on his hands hung from his belt. He looked rather dashing, with a simple elegance about him. he went to the front of the chapel sitting on one of the pews while Christian went to see if he could get anything for the women.

With Aiden out the door, his mother turned to face Crista once more, smiling brightly at her, "I've always wanted a daughter..."

"Oh," Crista started to tear up once again as she sat down upon the seat in his mothers room, "Don't say things like that. I don't want to cry. I'm suppose to be happy."

"You can cry and be happy at the same time my dear girl," her mother-in-law came to her side and took her hands, "It's perfectly normal and wonderful. NOW!" She snapped back into her mother planning a wedding mode, "We need to get you something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue at once! Oh so much to do! We have to get you all ready!"

"Actually..." Crista bit her lip a bit, "Could you... I mean I know you have your ways so, could you do something for me?"

The queen mother smirked, "Anything...."

Crista asked the queen mother for a favor and she gladly sent out her servants to make it so. Rebeca arrived a while later, bringing with her a lovely hair comb, "You can borrow this! Oh! I can't believe you are doing this! It's so romantic to just.... get married! Oh romantic!"

Crista couldn't stop herself from smiling the whole while they all hustled and hurried to make everything perfect. They did up her hair with the lovely comb in it though most still cascaded down her back. The queen mother provided the something blue arriving from the castle gardens with a bouquet for her to carry of white flowers mixed with the last bit of blue wood forget-me-nots for the season. She provided the new as well as she had her personal hand maiden rush to the market to purchase a new necklace she gifted her with. Something simple, yet elegant to match the blue forget-me-nots in the flowers.

That last bit of the work had to wait however until the thing Crista asked for to arrive. The something old. They brought the trunk into the room and Crista wiped the dust from it. Her mother's hope chest. She had hidden it away in the stables once Juliet took over control of the house so she'd never get a hold of her mothers keepsakes. Opening it for the first time ever, Crista found the only things she had left of her mother. Digging through the quilts on the top, she uncovered below letters from her mother to her father. Love letters. She could only bring herself to read one of them before she had to put the rest away. It was so heartwarming. The words soaked with the love between her parents in their youth. The rest were best kept private. Only to be touched forever by her parents eyes.

It was beyond the letters she found what she had been looking for...

----

The sun was just starting to set a few hours later when the wedding began to commence. For a speedy wedding, thrown together at the last minute, it was actually a lovely affair. His mother had the last of the seasons flowers cut and decorated the small family chapel, alight with candles that helped to illuminate the room as the light from the setting sun dimmed the space.

The arrival of the priest, who urged Aiden to come stand beside him at the alter, with Christian right behind him. "I didn't think I would be the one to have the honor of wedding you, your highness. It pleases this old man that I get the chance and that the high courts priest will be second in line to bless you both."

Aiden's mother came trotting down the isle then to her son, kissing him on the cheek, "Are you ready?" she asked him, smile on her face.

Aiden smiled at the old man who had been there through all his life. â??I would have it no other way Marcus, I would have fought tooth and nail to have you do my wedding. However as it worked out I donâ??t need too.â?

As his mother came up to the alter Aiden kissed her cheek softly. â??I am mother, I have been ready for this moment for nearly six months now. I canâ??t wait to finally have her in my arms as my wife.â? He smiled kissing his motherâ??s forehead softly. â??Thank you for everything.â? The look in his eyes spoke of the one thing they never speak of again but made this moment possible.

"I would do anything for you Aiden," she replied with the same look in her eyes. And as she moved to take her seat, that was indeed the end of that chapter in both their lives. They were both free. To live for her and for him, to love.

There was no music as Rebeca entered the small chapel first, coming down the isle in a different dress then what she had been wearing that morning, but perhaps even more on the simple side then what she usually wore. Fit more of the mood of who the bride was this day and honestly.... it suited Rebeca, who hide often behind all her frilly and lace since her return to the world, very nicely. Almost as well as it fit Crista, who was next to enter once Rebeca reached her place at the alter.

She was in all her simple, elegant beauty, wearing her mother's wedding dress. It fit like a glove, hugging her chest and hips before it faded into a flowing skit that trailed just a few feet behind her, sash tied loose about her waist. The bodice was hand embroidered in a simple pattern while the sleeves flowed like her skirt. In her hand was the white and blue bouquet, hair up with the comb and a few of the small forget-me-nots sprinkling her hair. She was beaming a bright smile as she came down the isle, meeting Aiden at the alter, taking her place standing next to him before the priest. While she was nervous, she was also elated. This was the wedding she had always dreamed of. The wedding of just a man and a woman so in love they could not be without one another. This was her fairy tale.

Aiden looked up smiling at Rebecca came in thinking she had not looked more lovely in a long time. He was nervous at the pause before Crista started down, a hundred things rushing through his mind. However when she turned through the doorway his jaw just about hit the floor. She looked beautiful, never had he seen such a sight as her in her wedding dress coming down the aisle to meet him. he took her hand gently and turned to face the priest finally being able to pull his eyes away from Crista. The priest started the ceremony a smile on everyoneâ??s face as the happiest moment in their or their friends lives started.

The ceremony was simple and sweet. The priest saying many nice words to grant them his blessing before the few people that were important to the both of them. This ceremony was far different then the one they would have before the court in two weeks time. Well, they would do many of the same things twice, like taking two candles and lighting one candle together, and the exchanging of the traditional vows, but they just FELT different this time. But then, they hit a bump in the road as the priest asked them, "The rings?" Crista looked to him, then to his mother who looked like she had juuuuust recalled something she forgot. Which she did. In the rest to get everything together, they had all totally forgotten to get rings.

Aiden could not have been happier loving the way everything had played out. Even though it had taken a lot longer than he had wanted, it still could not be more perfect now. His hands held hers as they neared the end having exchanged vows all that was left wasâ?¦oh hell. He sighed as his mother confirmed by her look that the rings had been forgotten.

Aiden leaned forward resting his forehead against hers. â??Why does it always have to be something.â? He sighed softly kissing her forehead trying to think of something, he was not going to let something so small as a ring to stop them getting married. He looked into her eyes his hands rubbing down her arms toward her hands. They brushed against something soft and long, looking down Aiden smiled, â??We wonâ??t be stopped my love.â? He touched her sash, â??Can you give this to the priest my love so that he can continue the ceremony?â?

Crista had a depressed little look on her face as she thought that it had all had been too good to be true and it appeared now that indeed it had been. Already resining herself to having to wait the two weeks to be married to him, she was confused as the Aiden seemed so sure that it would be alright as he then brushed the sash at her waist. It took her a moment to understand what he was implying but then it dawned upon her and she smiled a little bit. As she removed the sash, she was not sure it was work, but she handed the sash to the priest anyway. Once he took it she took Aiden's hand in her and together they held their hands towards the priest who gave a slight laugh. "Very wise thinking, that's one cord but... we will need five more for a proper hand fasting vow ceremony..."

"Will a hair ribbon do?" Rebeca's voice interrupted as she started to work at her hair. It soon came tumbling down and she handed over the two ribbons that had been holding her hair up.

"I've a sash as well!" The queen mother said as she stood to undo her own sash and handed it to the priest before returning looking to Aiden and pointing out the leather lace holding his collar closed. The while while, Crista couldn't help but laugh lightly at how silly her wedding had become, but in a warm, lighthearted way that showed how their friends cared for them both.

They looked to Christen, but he shrugged. In his uniform he had nothing to give and it seemed for a moment that their silly plans had failed them. Until the priest cleared her throat to draw attention to himself. All watched as she removed the simple cord he had about his waist and added it to the others, "Well then... shall we continue?"

The vows were longer then the normal ring vows since they had to pledge themselves to one another 6 plus times, one of the cords behind draped over their held hands after each set of binding words to one another until all six cords were tying their hands together.

"The knots of this binding are not formed by these chords but instead by your vows. Either of you may drop the chords, for always you will hold in your own hands the making or breaking of this union." After this, the priest removed all they ties and they knew this was finally the moment.

"Spirit of Love, may Aiden and Crista know great love together, and may they live in the desire to always support each other in positive and uplifting ways. May they strengthen one another in sorrow, share with one another in gladness, and be companions to each other in times of silence. May their home be a haven, and wherever they are plagued by changing fortune, may they be united not in word and outward form alone, but by the presence in the hearts of each, of the deepening love they share." He smiled as he looked to they directly, "You are husband and wife. Celebrate with a kiss."

Crista turned to face Aiden, overjoyed to be his wife at long last, waiting for him to kiss her to seal the vows properly.

Aidenâ??s heart was full nearly not being able to wait till it was over so that he could seal the vows. Leaning in he stopped just a hairâ??s breadth from her lips. â??For all time Crista.â? He leaned in kissing her deeply his hand slipping around her neck and his other arm around her waist. He kissed her deeply losing all sense of time and otherâ??s being present as the kiss continued. They had kissed before it was true but there was something about this kiss a heat that had not been there as though sealing them together forever.

Their was cheering from all those in the small party, but Crista couldn't hear them. It was like the world had just stopped and all that were moving was she and Aiden. They had indeed kissed before, but even she felt the difference in this kiss. She knew why however, or at least she thought she did. This was the first kiss that paved the way to the rest of their lives as husband and wife together. How could she have ever considered letting him go? Now that she had him, she could never EVER imagine being without him.

The kiss lasted as long as she could allow it before she had to break away to be able to breath once again, gasping lightly as she did so and coming to rest with her forehead against his, smile on her face, "I love you, my husband."

Aiden smiled his hand brushing over her cheek as he held her close against him. â??And I love you my wife.â? He was still lost in the presence of his new wife and the rest of the group could tell. Rebecca and Christian just smiled, along with the priest.

However his mother saw where this could lead quickly if the spell wasnâ??t broken. Hating herself she stepped forward and coughing before she did she pushed the two apart a little. â??Alright you two that can wait till tonight. The cooks have made something lovely in celebration and will not be amused if the king and his new queen skip dinner.â?

Crista reluctantly pried herself from Aiden's hands to turn and accept a hug from her friend Rebeca while Aiden was receiving for a hug from is mother as well as a pat upon the back from Christan at the same time. After his mother was done with him, she turned her attentions to hugging her new daughter. Even the priest joined in, giving Aiden a hearty handshake and congrats. Crista then turned back to the priest, "Father, you will join us for supper as well, won't you?"

"How can I say no to such a charming lady. And a queen as well. I would be happy too."

"Come come! Let let us move this little celebration to the dinner table! Our food will get cold."

"Oh wait!" Crista interrupted, "There is one more thing we need to do before we move along." She smiled and stepped a few feet from the group and turned before tossing her bouquet over her shoulder and right to Rebeca who reacted quickly in catching it, only realizing after she held it in her hands what the symbolism meant. She blushed slightly before turning to glance towards Christan.

"There!" Crista said with a smile as she took her husband's hand once again, "Now we may go to supper."

Aiden had taken Cristaâ??s hand to walk out to the dining room. When she turned around and threw the bouquet over her head to Rebecca Aiden started to laughed softly, but the look that passed from Christian to Rebecca had him raise his eyebrow.

Slipping an arm around Cristaâ??s waist he leaned down kissing her neck softly. â??Do you see that?â? he asked softly as they walked out toward the smaller dining room that was used for more intimate settings.
