The Lady in Waiting (Lady Bloody Ava & Greeneyed23)

Rose shared a smile with her parents before they parted and a sweet little moment was shared with mother and daughters before they made it to their bed chambers.

It made her laugh to see the pregnant furball swiftly join her mate and father in the tub with such enthusiasm.

Petite feet walked her ver to the sigh with her wiggly daughter in her arms.

Idly did she bounce the wee one on her arms before looking at her in adoration as she made her hunger known.

"Thank you for the offer," a little chuckle sounded as she sat next to the tub and slid the ruffled strap of her dress down, but Alyssa was eager and pulled down what stood in her way and ate with gusto.

"My my, we are hungry," a soft smile adorned her countenance before she looked from their daughter to her husband as he spoke once more.

"It sounds delightful, but we need not do something so grand for such an occasion, do we? Everyone has a birthday, we need not make mine such a spectacle."

Rose, was nothing, if not humble. While many nobles preened and strived to catch attention, the Lady of York was content observing, learning, and enjoying the company.

"Though fireworks and dancing do sound fun... and everyone enjoyed the celebration of our daughters." The memories that flooded her mind from the antics of that celebration forced a broader smile on her face as she looked down at Alyssa as she feasted.

"Do we have enough time to even arrange such a thing?"

Alyssa's eyes grew heavier and heavier as she tried to continue to feed and it was such an adorable sight.

"Someone had a rather eventful day herself. Playing with the sister while mommy worked, playing with Fisher, meeting your grandparents."

Rose was relaxed at the moment and looked at all who occupied the tub.

"I imagine that dinner will be a tad livelier than usual. With Her Majesty and Tony and my parents being there along with the girls... it should be a rather fun night."

With a light sigh, she stood up from the stool with their napping daughter in her arms.

"You three relax and get cleaned up. I am going to lay the little Lady Alyssa down until we head down for dinner. I will relax in a bath before bed."

There was no sense in changing out of what she had for dinner just to take it off before her bed and bath.

The girls were all preparing for dinner. Tony's laughter would commingle with Her Majesty's and would have the servants smiling at the sight.

I guess you could say that this could be considered the Queen's home away from home.

Already she was thinking about all of the things that had to be done tomorrow. She had to meet up with the clergy about the placement of the chapel.

The debate about the orphanage/school was won so the rest of the interior had to be finalized and an opening ceremony seemed fitting as well as a list accumulated of all of the kids that would be calling it home.

In the time she had placed her daughter in her little side bed, Rose has sat down on the edge of the bed and got lost in her own thought for the moment before giving in to her body and falling back onto the bed and losing her eyes.

Rose was not tired but desperately tried to shut her mind off for the briefest of moments.

"Rallon? Let's take a day away one day," she spoke loud enough for him to hear.

"My darling if you wish it you may have a century away."

He kissed her, having slipped from the water.

Now he stepped back and rinsed off then began to dress. "And as to your birthday yes everyone has them, but you my love are my beloved bride. You will be celebrated accordingly. This is not negotiable."

He sat and began to stroke her hair. "I know you want everyone to glory in our girls. And fhey do. But you deserve to be noted as well. I do believe we had this discussion last night and earlier today."

He kissed her once again. "And perhaps we could take the day after your birthday off?"

He shifted to lay his head on her shoulder, and raised her head with a delicate touch to rest on his shoulder in turn.

"We could take the wolves and the tiny lady to the old manor. The lake is clean now and has a good beach. I was also thinking we could make that the summer house. Once it is rebuilt, obviously."

Of course, her darling and wondrous husband would put his foot down when it came to celebrating her birthday and the thought made her chuckle with a smile reserved just before him upon sweet lips.

"Did we?" Jesting as he pointed out this being the third time he brought up her birthday, today.

"Perhaps we can, it sounds like such a relaxing retreat and I would love to think that everyone will be okay without us here for just one day."

This moment was what she needed. Then again she always needed Rallon more than he might ever realize.

"As far as the birthday goes, I will play no part in planning it. That, Rallon Granger, can be my gift."

Rose knew that he would far from accept that being her gift, but it did not hurt to try.

"Come I think I have relaxed enough that I am excited to see everyone for dinner. Mother and father are sure to be interested in Tony and surprised at the Queen's presence, despite the warning that I gave them."

One hand held onto his as she sat up and tried to pull him to his feet.

"Let's not keep everyone waiting," she uttered as she scooped up their tiny tired princess.

Cynthia and Tuchesi, once dried were given kisses and a little loving before the family made their way to the dining hall and drew closer to the voices and laughter that greeted them before they laid eyes upon all who were already seated.

"My, my I was not aware of a party in my home," the Lady jested as she laid eyes upon Tony in mid-laugh with her father and Her Majesty speaking with her mother. The girls were enjoying a conversation in their own little groups. A certain godmother raised her arms in a silent request for the tired Alyssa and Rose laughed lightly and passed the wee one-off where both women went on to talk about the littlest Lady.

Before seating, she wanted to see how Tony and her father were fairing and just what they found so funny. Apparently, it was so funny that neither man could complete a sentence. "At least you are enjoying yourselves." Eyes scanned the room for Jessica and Lilah, figuring that they were probably spending time with the hamish boys.

Eventually Rose too her seat at her husbands side and silently admired the diversity and happiness that was her family and friends.

"We did."

She got each kiss she wanted.

And a few more as just outside the dining room he pressed against the wall for several seconds.

Alyssa broke that kiss with a whine and yawn.

"Yes dear."

Otherwise all things were well.

Rallon drew her closer so their chairs were touching, then put his arm behind their chairs, and through her's to cup her side.

"Much better. Oi! You. Tiny. Whatcha doing?"

Thea looked up at him innocently.

"Not buying. Whatcha got?"

She giggled and held up a string of bones. Which Tuchesi was watching with hungry eyes.

"Alright. Just don't torment him too much."

She grinned and continued the game until dinner was served.

It was fabulous. The girls fawned over their neice and David. And Victoria and Charles, so happy to have them back in the family.

The Queen was tired but happy.

Tony explained how they had gotten lost. Twice. Because her guide had refused to admit he didn't know the way.

So he had been sacked and Tony had had to guess the way using sailing navigation. It had been harrowing but they both found her lands, and the way back.

Rallon found this very funny. Especially at Her Majesty's glower.

This man always got her blood racing and lifted her spirits with ease. Her hunger could rival that of her husbands when it came to craving her significant other.

Rose laughed lightly as she found her chair being pulled directly next to her husbands before feeling his hand holding her side.

After having been called out the innocent look on Thea's face made Rose laugh lightly as the girl was anything but innocent at this moment.

She gt to have a brief but sweet moment with babdy David and spoke to Tia about how her day had gone.

As always Rose reminded Tia that she was always happy to moment to breath by taking David with her for the day. Any day.

Rose was fully invested in the tale of Tony and the Queen having gotten lost on the way to her grounds.

Amelia, Jane, and Caris, the three eldest of the girls, were looking at their brother and the conversation topic seemed to be on their brother and his wife.

Caris caught her sister-in-laws questioning gaze and answered with a smile.

"We were debating whether or not the time apart between you two is why you both always stay by one another's side whenever you are so close." Jane, the second oldest explained

"And I pointed out that Rallon goes to the build site to work and you travel about and see to your duties, as is expected of those in your station, so what constant attraction ar they seeing?" Caris inquired.

"Rallon drew your chair closer and that is how the conversation began." Amelia added with a smile that she would sport more and more frequently these days.

"Ah so a healthy debate." Rose loved debates.

"Well, maybe the time apart did play a factor. It was maddening being apart. You saw me..." Even before the chaos had set in, she would visit the girls and their parents, rest their souls.

"Your brother's love is unquestionable. I have heard things that happened in the Holy Land from Tia. That he even had time to so much as think about me is a miracle in and of itself." Rose heard horrible things. Examples of what Tia laid eyes on and Tia was sweet enough to stay with Rose and hold her hand and answer any questions that she had.

"With that being said, who would not want to spend every moment possible with the person that they love. Amelia might have an idea as to what I am talking about."

On queue, the eldest of the Granger girls blushed profusely. The lunch with her suitor was coming up fast and there were standards to be met, but the happiness of the girls was certainly up there.

The food was settling into stomachs, and the pie that had been delivered by the lovely woman that had supplied them when she was pregnant was certainly welcomed and settling in as well.

One by one people saw themselves off. The younger girls knew that they had to be off to bed as they had their studies in the morning.

Alyssa had made it back into her other's arms and Rose was ready for a much needed bath before bed.

A kiss was gifted to her parents who looked far better than they first appeared that day. Both expressed how excited they were that Her Majesty was interested in other family to such a degree, and the hilarity of Tony.

Back up to their bedrooms and Alyssa had succumbed to all of the excitement and the effects of a fully tummy and went to sleep. It was easy enough to get her to of her clothes and she would have a bath to look forward to in the morning. Rose was ready to soak for a moment before joining her loving husband in bed.

Rallon stole Alyssa and handled her bedtime while Rose undressed and got into the tub.
Then he moved to the stool behind the tub and gave her a lengthy shoulder and neck rub.

Then helped her dry off. And off to bed.

He woke her with a kiss and breakfast.

And a squirmy Alyssa. He allowed mother and daughter to kiss, then lodged Alyssa betweeb Tuchesi and Cynthia, where the girl began to happily tug at her brother in law's fur.

Rallon then scooted in behind Rose and wrapped around her as they both ate.

"So run down the schedule for me again please?"

He kissed the top of her head. Then stole a berry from her fingers and held it in his teeth before her lips.

Once she took the bait he settled back. "Feeling well beauty mine?"

The bath was wondrous and another night's sleep wrapped in her husband's embrace. Rose slept so well that she had not noticed Rallon slip away to retrieve breakfast.

Her baby girl was bright-eyed and as adorable as ever playing with her brother-in-law.

The food was delicious and the fruit was divine.

A laugh escaped her lips as the berry was stolen from her and she looked at the culprit with a smile.

These little games were so sweet and always memories that she would revisit. The berry was savored, along with the kiss before she continued on explaining the key points coming up.

"Well... I need to speak with the visiting Clergy about the location of the chapel, for one." Another berry was savored before she continued.

"The lunch with Amelia's suitor should be today, so that will be... fun." Her birthday was left off of the list of things to do because it wasn't something that she planned and it wasn't today.

"So far, that is all that I have in mind for today. What about you?"

"Well while i cooking and fetching your mother found me. She would like to have a private dinner with us and the Queen to discuss your great aunt. Your father would there as well. I suggested Tia and Fisher also attend and she agreed. I have paperwork to do for the schools you have arranged. And I want to make arrangements to have the old house torn down and new one, in the same style built."

He nibbled her ear as he thought. "That way I am near the house and presentable for Amelia's lunch. She ia very nervous according to the girls. Including the cousins who have been trying to help her prepare. Tia has been keeping an eye on the harem."

He chuckled. "Her term for such a large group of women. Oh the Havish boys have officially asked for a public date they might ask for their hand. I thought we could use your birthday?"

Alyssa gave a squeak.

Rallon looked over. Tuchesi had lay his jaw on her tiny lap, then yawned. And Alyssa had grabbed his snout and tried to pull. But had fallen back against his side. Tuchesi had let himself twist without issue. But now only Alyssa's eyes and top of her head were visible.

Rallon laughed. "Silly girl. You can't breathe wolf fur."

He reached over and began to rub Tuchesi's ear, drawing the big wolf head away.

Alyssa had been in no danger but had been slightly startled. And of course she had no desire to be parted from Tuchesi. He was her favorite. That much had become very clear. So she grabbed at him and tugged with a clear grunt of effort.

Rallon smirked as Tuchesi stopped moving instantly. Then spoke. "Alyssa we do not pull at family."

She whined softly. And lay her head onto Tuchesi's. "I know you love him. But don't pull."

She stared at him. Not quite understanding but knowing she was being reprimanded. Her father's tones were very clear to her.

She gave another tug and his voice went flat. "No."

She whined and snuggled closer to the wolf. "Good."

She blinked, then went still.

Tuchesi gently pushed so she could snuggle but lay back more. She cooed and shifted her grip.

"Thank you darling. Tuchesi is not to be abused or mistreated. Nothing and no one deserves that."

She stared at her father, clearly not understanding fully but struck by his voice.

And then placed a clumsy kiss to Tuchesi and cried out happily.

"Such a sweet girl."

She knew those words and wriggled excitedly, pushing her feet against Cynthia, who simply grunted in her sleep.

Rallon smirked. "She is a clever girl. You gave her your intelligence my love. Well done. "

The private dinner sounded like a good idea. "Maybe we can get a little bit more insight about my aunt, so I actually look forward to that."

The sound of their darling daughter caught her attention and it was the most adorable of sights and a laugh had to be bit back.

Rose often found her to be cunning like her father with a natural livability to all.

Tuchesi was one of the biggest godsends of this family and he would need that patience when Cynthia became a mommy.

At the mention of rebuilding their old home it caused her to pause in thought.

"Would it be odd... for us to take Alyssa, Cynthia, and Tuchesi to visit your parents and James?"

James was an absolute angel. Almost every time she went to speak to them since they were laid to rest, she would miss James so much.

"Alyssa would have loved them and I know they would have loved her," she would remember her last moments with his family. Even when his father was ill she visited and sat at his side with Lady Granger.

James and the girls tried so hard to rule in their father's stead and in the end they lost him too soon.

Alyssa squealed with her little hands outstretched and caught her mother's attention.

"Is someone hungry?" Rose laughed lightly and scooped up her sweet baby girl and she latched on and started feeding. "She needs a bath and then whe we are dressed we can head over to the Clergy, or would you like to spend time with your youngest, while I spend time with our eldest?"

It would take not time to get dressed and head on over to visit the visiting Clergy. Time in the carriage gave her time to think about the lunch with Amelia and her suitor. Time seemed to go by so fast, and thank goodness the girl were moving on from that horrible and tragic night.

Long locks were left to cascade about her face as a fair yellow dress nearly hung onto her shoulders with a heart shaped neckline.

Eyes looked at no place in particular as they neared their destination.

"I think they should visit James and my parents. And no. You take the squeaky brat."

Alyssa ignored him as he tweaked her toes while she ate.

She had the wolves and Alyssa all to herself.

Rallon had washed Alyssa and helped Rose wrestle the giggling squirmer into her clothes, then had had kissed his ladies, rubbed Tuchesi's ears, and sent them on their way.

Cynthia was a bit grumpy at being woken and was back to sleep now.

Tuchesi was under strict orders to protect the three ladies with him. So he was on high alert. Even as Alyssa tugged at his ear and cooed at him, wanting to play.

He obliged, but his attention was on the world outside, even as she tugged and twisted. Thankfully her nails had not grown yet. But also Alyssa had been caught tugging his eyelids rather painfully. And he had not so much as growled.

And she did not do so again after her parent's remonstrance.

She had even kissed the wolf in what seemed a sincere apology.

Tia was going with Rose, as she had the plans. Which mention also David. And of course Fisher always escorted Lady Rose and Lady Tia.

The head Clergy of this meeting was the same fellow who had replaced their beloved murdered priest. He was a good man, kind to the populace, and happy to work with Rose and Rallon.

Of course the same few that feared or even hated her husband were also to be present. But they had no authority. Merely the right to speak. Without reason.

Others had come to join the power and growing wealth here in York.

And some were unclear in their motivations.

The trek to their destination was filled with idle talk between the others, with Ros taking the opportunity to adore baby David. The boy was certainly growing and was more awake than usual today. Idly did her pert her slumbering eldest daughter while Tia and Rose both spoke of how they related to the fatigue and how excited they were for the pups.

Fisher, in his charming and loyal fashion, helped them out of the carriage where they were greeted by Father Nicolas, the new head of the Clergy.

"Lady of York and company, I welcome you all," The man had the deepest crow's feet and warm brows eyes with a smile that was contagious.

There was a rather staunch-looking sister at his side looking at both Cynthia and Tuchesi with a look of caution like she found it odd that everyone was casual about them.

"I am Sister Agnes, visiting, for the time being. It is lovely to make your acquaintance, Lady Granger of York. Let us see you all in and get the discussion underway with some tea, shall we?"

As they made their way through the old halls, they received waves and good mornings and smiles for the little ones.

The meeting spot of choice was a large room surrounded by old massive pictures and bookshelves galore and a large round table with enough seats for everyone.

Introductions were made and seats were taken with Cynthia resting at her mother's feet and Tuchesi stations where his eye could see all.

Alyssa sat in her mother's lap and seemed to be drawn to David who was with Tia.

"Well, I was told that there was a recommendation to move the chapel aware from where the plans originally have it. May I ask why?"

Maybe it was the pretty face, or the calm and sweet tone of her inquiring voice, but the replies were fuzzy and all over the place.

"While I might not completely understand your reasoning, our placement of choice is more than just showing off the stained glass that I chose. The sunlight will hit the glass at peak times and the warmth from when I stood in that spot was akin to the warmth that I would use as a reminder that he is all things good in this world and I strive to make all things work for the good of those who love him or care to put the slightest faith in his children."

Father Nicolas was touched and there seemed to be no room for argument after that short piece from the Lady of York. It was honestly a shame that this trip and time had been wasted when they could have simply listened to Rallon.

It was openly pointed out how different the Lord or York was from his bride and then attention switched over to baby David and Alyssa.

Time snuck by and they had to get back in time for the lunch.

The ride back was filled with bubbly babies and moments of triumph with the chapel having been approved.

Tia said little, save to rave about her son, and husband, until they were back in the carriage.

"I was with his Lordship when they made that complaint. He said word for word what you said. Merely pointed out that it was your style, suggestion, and desired placement. Including how you had made sure the sun shone on the glass. Not through it to be blinding. And they still didn't listen."

Tia opened a curtain. "Do I lie my love?"

Fisher smiled. "Of course not. But the sister did have that stoney look on her face the entire time His Lordship was explaining. I think they were simply intent on disagreeing with My Lord."

Tia nodded. "Perhaps. I have heard some judge him harshly for not staying longer in the Holy Land. It seems even the word of the Pope is not enough for them."

Rallon did have signed thanks from His Eminence for his service, including honors for his actions in the defense of Jerusalem. And numerous noted acts of Christian charity.

Rallon rarely acknowledged this, even Rose had had to ask to see the documents. Included were hundreds of recordings of his deeds across the world. How he had protected the pilgrims, Christians, Jews, and Muslims, including going so far as to duel with Templar Knights to keep them from slaughterinf innocents. He had fought with honor against his enemies, and had treated his prisoners kindly and well. And he had saved thousands. This was clear by the many pledges of favors.

These arrived constantly. This lord, that king, this noble, that Sultan.

Everyone vividly recalled the day that Tia had been unable to speak save in rapid Arabic phrases when Saladin himself had sent Rallon a kindness with a glowing letter of acknowledgement for his actions during a seige, in which Rallon had rescued Saladin's nephews from certain death. And another point when the great Sultan and Rallon had met to discuss terms during the peace and Rallon had killed four assassins.

Rallon of course sent his own regards back, but said nothing of these, simply filing them away and entrusting the gifts to Tia and Rose to handle.

Most were lovely peices that now decorated the house. But only Tia, Fisher, and Rose knew of these details. Not even the girls were aware.

Rallon simply did not discuss his time away. He would. If Rose asked. But otherwise it never came up.

And of course it helped that a gift to him was at best given a thank you and then handed over to Tia to manage.

But a gift to Rose, that got his attention.

If someone was trying to ingratiate themselves, or worse seduce her, Rallon ignored it.

But if they were sincere and kind, Rallon would be eager to meet them.

It was no secret where the key to his heart lay.

But it was also no secret that she had that same vessel well protected.

As evidenced when they arrived to find Rallon speaking to Amelia's would be betrothed.

Rallon was wearing one of his nicer outfits. Not his ball attire but something clearly worthy of a noble. He was being somewhat quiet but attentive, and clearly going out of his way to welcome this fellow.

Amelia was not visible for some reason.

Rallon smiled at the carriage. "Excuse me."

And helped Tia and David down, then Rose and Alyssa, giving both a kiss.

"My Lady Rose may I present..."

He gestured for the young man fo properly introduce himself. He was calm and relaxed, and clearly not put off by this young man.

Who had wisely gone through Rose, by going through Amelia, to make this meeting happen.

Cynthia stood beside her mother, while Tuchesi watched from behind Rallon, his eyes narrowed.

Seeing Rallon was a sweet surprise upon their arrival.

He looked so handsome, that she almost missed the company in her presence. Especially after the kiss.

Her husband's demeanor led her to believe, that so far, the boy was on good terms, but they had plenty of time to see.

"Grayson Hereford, third son of Viscount Hereford, My Lady. It is an absolute pleasure to make your acquaintance. Amelia has told me so much."

He was a sweet and young gentleman, but a quick glance around left her openly wondering. "Where is Amelia?"

"My love..." A kiss was snagged from her dear husband's lips and there was a clear hesitance to breaking it before she looked at both gentlemen with a sweet smile.

"Let me find Amelia, meanwhile, little Lady Alyssa has had quite the day and would like to spend a moment with her father. We will meet you both in the dining hall?"

Rose took the opportunity to slip the little Lady to her father and walked directly to Amelia's bedroom to find the girl standing before a full-length mirror with a nervous look about her.

"You look gorgeous... so why are you still in your room as opposed to seeing your brother on his best behavior around Grayson?"

Rose walked over to Amelia and took the girl's hand in her own and had her face to face.

"I am nervous."

"Butterflies... you have butterflies..." she did not mean to laugh, but it brought back memories.

"I hear the rumors about your brother.... how he's a monster and will kill anyone who threatens his family. I even heard rumor's about how I kill with kindness."

Rose hugged Amelia like she would never let her go and the girl seemed to melt into her arms.

"We are a very special family, and for anyone who knows us knows how we are and for Grayson to win your heart and face your brother... there must be love for you. He is either very stupid or very brave and given your taste I opt for the latter."

Rose ended the hug with a squeeze before releasing the girl. "Come... let us not keep them waiting much longer."

Hand in hand the girls made their way to join Rallon and the boy that vied for Amelia's hand and heart.

This brought back memories of her younger days with Rallon and it was part of the reason why she could not stop smiling.

Rallon had brought Grayson to the 'public' balcony overlooking the feilds behind the house.

Lunch was prepared and waiting.

Cynthia gone with her mother, while Tuchesi stayed on station near Alyssa.

Who was bouncing on her father's knee squealing happily.

Grayson snapped to his feet and bowed to Rose, then smiled at Amelia, stepping over to draw out her chair.

Rallon did not rise. This balcony had a loveseat just perfect for them.

"Alyssa says Grayson has pretty hair."

Amelia's head snapped at her brother.

Rallon grinned. "I don't mean it as an insult. She kept playing with it as we walked. I think it suits him. Frames his young face nicely."

Amelia relaxed, slightly mollified.

Grayson spoke softly. "She was quite taken with it. And didn't pull. Though she is very strong."

"She gets that from Rose." Alyssa gurgled. "Yes. You get your strength from Mama. And her beauty too. Lucky you."

Cynthia huffed but Alyssa giggled and baffed his nose and began to fiddle with his lips.

He spoke calmly despite. "Grayson, for the record, remind me about the Herefords. I think I have met your ...uncle? A Haversham Hereford. Dashing fellow with a magnificent mustache. Exceptional fencer. Very brave. I heard it he made it home safely to great honor. Or is he another branch of the family?"

Amelia and Rose knew Rallon cared little for family lines and good matches and all that nonsense. But it did technically apply, and he did have to have a 'business' reason to allow the match.

Though he knew any denial would make him an enemy in his eldest sister.

Alyssa was still fiddling with his lips, having a wonderful time. Tuchesi was her favorite toy. But Daddy was even more fun to play with. His hair was long and thick and so strong. And he made the best faces.

As Grayson answered Rallon looked down at her and crossed his eyes and puffed out his cheeks, making her hiccup in surprise, then giggle, patting his cheeks.

Rose was impressed at how well mannered Grayson was as she took her place on the loveseat relaxing against her husband and enjoying the sight of their bubbly little Lady.

A laugh was bitten back as she watched the reaction from Amelia when her brother complimented Grayson's hair.

The tension in one half of the balcony was so thick that you could cut it with a butter knife.

It came as no surprise that the wee baby Granger managed to show off her impressive strength to their guest and earned a smile from her mother.

There was a questioning look at Rallon when he stated that the little one got her strength from her.

Rallon was speaking with Grayson about his family and silently she commended him in his effort to make sure his sister was happy and safe.

"Alyssa..." Rose whispered her daughter's name with a smile to snag her attention. The girl adored her father and their dynamic was unique an always managed to make her laugh.

"Well, we will have to visit your family at some point. We obviously would like to get to know them. Now..."

A cup of tea was quaintly taken from the table and siped before she sat back and continued.

"You request the hand of Amelia Granger. Very bold. You know... it is not her brother, the Lord or York that you need worry about, but Amelia herself."

Rose snimed he entire time as she looked at the process of sweetening her tea with a little sugar and stirring.

"Thea, her sister, has told me a few things about you Sir Herefords. The girls, or any of our friends and family for that matter, are not to be taken lightly, you see so I wanted to be certain of you."

Amidst the paperwork and visits she had been making she took the time and resources to look into the boy herself. No doubt Rallon had probably done so, but after all that the girl has been through, Rose would waste no time in cutting the boy down herself. Ever the one to be several steps ahead she was sure that Rallon would have already seen to that as he had dismissed so many suitors. Rose personally advocated for this one at Amelia's personal request.

"You must stop by and visit more often. We will have a personal dinner date with your parents arranged and discuss this further, but I need you to start melding with the rest of the family if you care to join us as such."

The boy was fine, but Rose knew that his father's second wife was a different story. Grayson's mother had passed away five years ago and had two more sons with him.

Amelia looked a tad shocked at her sister-in-law. Amelia and Grayson shared their secrets with their family between one another.and knew how he was not always looked upon as the olden child because of his step mother, but he perserverred and relished the support of the Granger that was always there for him, never judged him, and was fine with just the way he was.

"Eat... no need to make the moment awkward, this is lunch after all..." Rose laughed as she tickled her baby girl's tummy to distract her from her daddy and steal some attention away.

Alyssa was always easily distracted by her mother.

Mommy held a deep fascination. She held food. And her voice was so calming.

Alyssa was always eager to see her mother, and loved playing with her hair and the fabrics of her dresses.

Rallon tickled Rose's side, knowing what she was up to. He always loved how Alyssa reacted to Rose.

She squealed for him and grasped.

But she gazed at Rose, her lovely eyes taking all of her mother in. Then she would often make new sounds before her mommy coo. Only mommy got that happy coo.

And here it came. And then Alyssa snagged Rose's hand and held onto it. She just held on, going quiet and still.

Alyssa had not quite figured out kisses yet, but she knew it involved lips. So she pressed her's to her mother's arm, and snuggled close.

And Amelia nearly broke with how adorable it was.

Grayson was greeing to the family dinner when this occurred and smiled. "Lady Alyssa is very affectionate."

"She is. And wisely grateful to her beautiful mother. Alyssa."

She looked up as Rallon whispered something to her.

Alyssa squealed and began to wriggle and tug at Rose's until she had the palm over her face. Then she closed her eyes, went very still and then gabbled loudly as she waved her hands.

Amelia cocked her head. "Is she..."

"Playing peek aboo yes. She loves to play from behind the wolves especially. She and Rose play alot. It's quitr precious."

Alyssa called out, 'hiding' again.

Rallon gasped. "My darling. Where is Alyssa? She has vanished?"

Rose had a chance to respond, then Alyssa threw her tiny arms out gurgling and babbling.

"Ahhhh therr she is Thank God. Alyssa you vanished! Where did you go?"

She giggled, not yet grasping everything but knowing Mommy and Daddy were playing along.

Then she sneezed, hiccuped, and sneezed again. And began to cry.

Rallon instantly stood, walking her.

"Grayson tell me something. Do you have the ring and intention to wed our beloved Amelia?"

Grayson was startled by the sudden shift. But nodded. "Yes sir I do. And I do."

"Wonderful. Amelia you hereby have my permission to invite his family to dinner, where assuming they don't possess extra heads or the desire to sell the world to Satan, he may ask with his parent's blessing. And bring Uncle Haversham Grayson. I wish to speak with him."

Grayson blinked but nodded. "Yes my Lord. Thank you my Lord."

Alyssa had calmed greatly. But now she was whining.

Rallon sat then handed her over to her mother, where she calmed fully, instantly. Daddy was safe. But Mommy was safest.

She had upset herself so actually that she fell asleep on Rose's chest, her right thumb in her mouth.

Amelia was melted by this and awwwwed.

Rallon smirked at Grayson. "She'll want her own fast." He was stroking Rose's neck with one hand and Alyssa's spine with the other.

Grayson blushed. "My Lord...."

"Don't worry i won't get into that. Just saying Amelia has always wanted to be a mother. Still want 12 kids Amelia?"

She blushed but smiled. "14..."

"Ahhh. What is with the women in our family and such numerous children. You'll wind up besting Mother at this rate."

She beamed. "I think I could do a good job."

Rallon waved this away. "You'll make a wonderful mother. You have been taking care of the others since you could walk. And you have been around our Mother, and now Rose. You have the very best models. Now. I need to speak to Lady Rose in private. You two may retire to the garden. But then Amelia I wish to speak to you alone."

The two vanished quickly.

Rallon kissed Rose deeply before she could speak. "I like him but we do need to decide what land amount for her dowry. With all the nonsense the idiots pulled things are still up in the air. I need your advice. And i will not make these arrangements without your presence and blessing. You have become a second mother to all of these girls. Thank you my love."

He gently prodded Cynthia who raised her head for ear rubs. He smiled. "So any objections, concerns or otherwise?"

As ever he wanted her wisdom before any actual decision was made. He had been trained to be a nobleman, which meant he might say much but could change his mind, mean something else entirely, or so much more.

Rose was, had been, and always would be his chief advisor. Especially regarding the girls. She had fought to keep them alive. Taken them as family against insane odds. He would never forget that. And all of them were utterly loyal to Rose.

He knew several would be suitors had been run off, some painfully, for the suggestion of tricking, disrespecting, and in one case out right stealing from Rose.

Little Thea had personally broken the nose of one arrogant pup who thought to supplant Rallon and dominate Rose in her own house.

The nobles had been aghast. Even more so when Rallon had promised that she would do worse the next time. And banned the little shite from the house.

He kissed Rose again. "Oh also, I love your hair this style. Simply exqusite."

His fingers played over it with gentle motions, not disturbing it.

Rose was all smiles with their daughter and when the peek-a-boo commenced, it was the most adorable sight.

Alyssa was frighteningly bright for her ages and it astounded her to no end.

Rose knew that Amelia would be an amazing mother from the way she handled all of her sisters and always offered to assist Rose with Alyssa.

It was cute to see Grayson blush at the mention of children and she looked down at her slumbering baby girl.

The mention of 14 children even surprised Rose. "Grayson is sure to have his hands full." Teasing at the poor lad.

The swiftness with which they vanished was easily noted but then all attention was easily snagged by her husband and a tantalizing kiss.

This was a kiss that could take several seconds to recover from and the Lady was far from complaining.

Cheeks were stained red in a heated blush as the sweet man that she called her husband thanked her for being a second mother to the girls.

"My family has plenty of lands and I am an only child. We are a family, so my lands are your lands Rallon Granger. She will have a sufficient dowry and I have no objections, my love."

This was a sweet moment between them. "And you... dear sir... look so irresistible right now. I can hardly keep myself contained." Another kiss was stolen from his lips with a wicked smile.

This man was her world and her love for him unquestionable.

"Well, my moon, my stars.... if you have nothing else, shall we head to the garden and you have a moment with your sister and I would be more than happy to kee Grayson occupied, in the mean time."

He growled. "I would have you....but we cannot. Yet."

He drew her into another kiss. "I find I crave you constantly my love. Even more than when I was away. Then it was somewhat easier. You were here. Out of sight. No less appealing but not in reach. Now..."

He cupped her cheek. "You are so close. So perfect and beautiful. But I do not wish to harm you. Only to love and pleasure you. I hope you don't mind my eagerness for our physical reunion. These lips of yours...your eyes. Your...everything ignites my passions most powerfully."

Alyssa had gotten distracted by Tuchesi and had no idea how hungrily her parents were eying each other.

Nor did she know that her aunts all had bets that she would have another sibling within ten months.

Not a one doubted that the moment Rose was allowed to make love again she and Rallon would go at it like rabbits once more.

And right now Rose could have little doubt that her husband longed for it. They had been rather ravenous for each other since his return. Him for her especially.

But right now his eyes held that glow only she ever saw or ignited.

He would wait. He would die before harming her. But he also wanted her. With every fibre of his being.

Alysssa saved them somewhat by crying.

Not tears but annoyance. She wantrd Tuchesi.

Who dutifully rose and walked over, flopping his head onto Rallon's lap.

Alyssa made a grunt of effort and managed to twist against his head, gripping both ears.

Rallon still had her but then Tuchesi shifted his neck and stepped away.

And Alyssa held on, riding Tuchesi.

This of course silenced her parents, but Tuchesi was walking very carefully and stepping smoothly as Alyssa stared at the world from both so low and yet so high.

Then shrieked in delighted.

Tuchesi did one slow circle, so close Rallon could easily catch Alyssa, then returned her to her father.

Alyssa was babbling in wild excitement now, clearly telling her parents about her achievement.

Rallon blinked, amazed. And grateful to Tuchesi for being so careful.

"Maybe delay before next time though good sir."

Tuchesi sat at the order.

Rallon handed Alyssa over and the girl flung herself onto her mother and began to gabble even quicker, her little arms gesturing wildly toward Tuchesi.

"It seems she has discovered a new joy. Oh dear..she is going to be quite the rider when she gets older."

Rallon stood now and kissed Rose once more. "See you in the garden when you can move safely with this one. Tuchesi, Cynthia, stay with your mother."

Then he was off, smirking at Alyssa's happy cries.

Tia peeked in, for once her son not with her. "He said Alyssa did something?"

Alyssa turned and began to gabble to her as well, her free hand now flinging about in Tuchesi's general direction.

Tia waited then nodded. "I see. Something new with Tuchesi I take it?"

Alyssa answered with a string of happy cries.

"When Lady Alyssa learns her words she will be most eloquent I am sure."

Rallon was such a sweet man and his love for her could even be frustrating, but she could never be mad at him for acting in her best interest, especially when the wait had to be just as painful, if not more so for him. "I understand, my love."

Their little one oggled her new fascination in the form of her brother-in-law and caught their attention. Silently did she gasp at the most adorable sight that she had ever beheld since the little lady was born.

There was excitement and nervousness rolled up into one massive ball as she looked a the little adorable sight mounted on a very gentle and intimidating-looking figure.

There was a vibrant smile upon her mother's face as she found her way back into her mother's arms just brimming with excitement.

"You do not say! Do tell me more..." Rose encouraged her talkative little one.

"Yes... we have are going to have our hands full with this little adventurer." Laughter commingled with the little one's constant excited labeling when Tia caught her eye.

As Tia asked about Alyssa's excitement, both women's attention as demanded by the little Lady, and Rose could not help but laugh out loud.

"Eloquent and probably boisterous as well."

The mother hugged her darling daughter, but Alyssa cheered in her little way and calmed down a bit before her mother turned her around to face Tuchesi as Rose spoke with Tia.

"How are you fairing, friend?"

It was nice to see Tia smile, "Fisher swiped David from me and insisted on spending some father-son time with him." That was a sweet thing that she knew Fisher was capable of.

"Well, Amelia's suitor, Grayson, is so far headed in the right direction. So that is one less thing we have to worry about at the moment. Speaking of which, come join me in the garden. Rallon needed to speak with his sister so I wonder if Grayson saw himself off."

With Alyssa in her arms, Tuchesi behind and Cynthia at her side, they all made their way to the garden. Alyssa relinquished a high pitch squeal at seeing her brother in law get in front of them as they neared the shaded tree that sheltered a seating area where the wee ones would often play.

Grayson was in the garden, hoping to steal some time with Amelia before leaving.

He was studying ome of the fountains.

It was fairly new, the base carved and covered with hanging roses, while the pool held the statue of two very familiar wolves, while behind and atop them a waterfall fell.

~

Rallon nudged Amelia. "So. He's the one huh?"

"Yes!"

"Easy. Are you ready for all that means?"

She considered. Then spoke. "I want what Mother and Daddy had....what you and Rose have. What Tia and Fisher have."

He nodded. "Then he may propose at Rose's birthday celebration. At the proper time. And you may tell him yes."

She squealed and leapt into his arms.

He hugged her back laughing. Then set her down. "Now go get rid of him so you can tell the harem."

She grinned and darted away.

Rallon chuckled watching Rose with a carefully chosen angle through the maze and rest of the garden.

Then grinned and began to move.

~

Grayson was making his manners when Rose was encircled by arms and felt a familiar chest against her back.

And then her husband growled. "I heard a big furry monster was bothering you. I only see Alyssa."

Then he spun and dipped mother and child and kissed the former, then raised them and handed the latter to Tia. "Hold the beast."

Amd twirled Rose into a dance as he began to hum one of her favorite songs.

Amelia appearred and shared the news with Grayson, then vanished for a little private romancing while Tia retreated with Alyssa.

Rallon was gazing into Rose's eyes. "Have I told you today have stunningly beautiful you are?"

Alyssa was having a grand old time with the experience she had with her brother-in-law and was preaching it in the most adorable way.

The little one calmed down at the sight of the fountain and then is when Rose smiled at the familiar feeling of her Lord husband encasing them in his embrace.

There was barely any time to sound a reaction when she was spun, dipped, and gifted a kiss.

Alyssa was just as excited to be with Tia and Rose was twirled with ease and was charmed at the song that Rallon hummed.

"Mmm... I can not remember, but I know that nothing could keep you away from me, Rallon Granger and you always know how to stop me in my tracks"

Their love stood the test of time and nothing could tear them apart.

"Well, my delectably debonair husband, I believe I have done all I have had planned for the day, with the exception of that private dinner t discuss my great aunt's visit."

It felt too long since his last kiss and so she remedied that with another lengthy kiss that proved so hard to pull from. "Have you any other plans until then? I know that you were working on plans to rebuild the old house and paperwork for the school."

"Bah. I have what matters most in my hands right now."

He kissed her again, twirling her along the flagstones.

"As to the dinner I had them prepare a place in the upper dining room we never use. A bit more intimate. And totally soundproof."

They had tested this personally during her pregnancy when both of them had felt carnal urges far too strong to ignore.

Fortunately thr table that had been in there had not been a beloved heirloom. They had broken it in their passion.

Rallon still playfully blamed her as it had been she leaping into his arms that had caused the table to fail then break. Which had stopped them not at all.

He chuckled. "Oh that does genuinely remind me. The Queen is going build a home here and she wishes us to maintain it for her. She plans to ask you personally. With Richard seemingly refusing to have any legitimate children, Tony suspects she wants to be near her godchildren when the time comes. Tia says she has a prime candidate for a housekeeper, and could recommend excellent additional staff. But since the request will come to you it is ultimately your decision."

He twirled her again, but this time as she spun away he pressed her softly against a wall, his body tight against her own, his hands gripping her hips. He was very gentle with her bosom giving her swelling.

He began to kiss and nibble her neck, feasting at her skin, then spun her, kissing her hungrily, lifting her against the wall with his body.

Then he broke the kiss with a growl. "When you are ready Alyssa and the wolves sleep with the girls. I want you to myself all day that day."

He cradled her jaw, his other hand on her hip, their bodies so close she could feel his rapid pulse all over. But especially where his hardness pressed against her.

His eyes had that wild fire only she ignited, and began to pepper her face with kisses and love bites to her brows, cheeks, jaw and lips.

This got more playful and allowed him to step back and breathe, calming enough so they did not drive each other mad.

Her midwives reminded her daily to wait. At least two months after Alyssa.

And reminded him as well. Early would hurt Rose.

But it was also manor wide knowledge, resulting in many wagers, that the Lord and Lady of York were eager as rabbits. And everyone, including the girls, had bets on when exactly this restraint would break, what furniture they would break, how long they would vanish when able, and of course the gender of the child result.

Most wagers said another girl.

Rallon did a damn good job of making sure that the smile on her face was not going away, well... unless they were kissing.

The mention of the dining room that was chosen made her cheeks go red at the memories.

No matter how she felt, the man always made her feel like the most gorgeous being in the world even when she felt like shit.

Often times she felt that her husband was blinded by how truly amazing and precious he was to her, and many others.

For each of those that loathed the Lord of York, there was a score more that would protect him and all that he has accomplished for York and its people.

The news about Her Majesty moving here and building a come excited her more than she cared to admit.

"It will be lovely to have her close with the rest of the family."

The next spin was a delicious surprise and only added to the hunger for the man that always held her heart.

A soft moan was easily coaxed out of her when attention was showered upon her neck.

"Oh...." eyes were laden with a lust that could not be denied, but the reward was sweetened with a kiss that literally stole her breath.

"Yes..." She could not agree anymore to the delicious idea.

Hands caressed at his back and grabbed in tension as she was happily assaulted in kisses and nis with the hard heat of his desire pressed against her. Even through the dress she could feel his arousal.

It was like her mind was full of mist and it was only the two of them, until her husband took a step back,

A wicked and lax smile formed upon her kiss swollen lips as she drank in the image of the man that she chose to live the rest of her life life with, come hell or high water.

Biting her lover lip as thoughts of what could have played through her mind before she talked herself out of the ravenous moment and took a deep breath.

"You are.... so amazing. When the time comes no doubt it will be another time to remember. For now, let me rescue Tia from the clutches of the Little Lady Alyssa. You... wait a minute before I leave because, Rallon Granger... you excite me and I am not sure that I have the will to hold back next time." WIth a little chuckle the Lady turned and walked through the halls and towards the found of babbling babies where David and Alyssa seemed to in the playroom that Rose had set up for the children.

Peeking in, she found Alyssa propped up with her back upon a 'C' shaped pillow the helped her sit up and David was laying over the 'C' shaped pillow with his arms draped over and his head resting to the side looking at Alyssa. Tia sat at their side with Fisher discussing how David would be quite the listener and protector whereas Alyssa was sure to be an adventuring type that was bound to keep them on their toes. The sound of Tia's laughter made Rose smile and another scenario was thrown out there before Rose entered.

"Poor David his going to have his hands full with her when they are older," David squealed at the sight of new company and the Lady could not resist picking up the growing boy. "So handsome, and these cheeks!" A kiss was pressed to each as she looked at the blessing that David and Tia brought into this world.

"Tia, I am excited to hear about your recommended servants for the Queen. You know each of them best, and it make more room for those in need of a job here. allon told me, but the Queen has not asked yet, but I am excited. "

Tia nodded. "She is just the first. All of her ladies are wanting to get homes here as well. And a not a few noblemen."

Fisher grunted. "All of them allied with us against Prince John My Lady."

Alyssa squealed seeing her mother and reached for her.

David looked up and smiled.

Fisher smirked then continued. "It seems York is becoming a bastion of King Richard Loyalty."

And unspoken leverage against John.

Rallon was forever gathering rumors, witnesses, and actual statements to prove John's corruption and inability to rule successfully.

And of course forging alliances that went well beyond borders.

The Queen, Robin, Marian, and others, especially her parents had won them great friends throughout Britain.

The Scots hated John openly, while Rallon had old family connection through the highlands, making him the only English nobleman currently trusted by the Scots.

Rallon's mother had a sister who had married into the Irish nobility, and he had fought with many of those fine lads, and Scots too, in the Holy Land.

And because of that he had the protection of Rome, France, Venice, Florence, and a horde of other European monarchs. Most of whom he had rescued or personally saved from death.

Even the fallen Queen of Jerusalem had done him honor.

Then of course were the marriages. Grayson came from a good family, loyal to Richard. And helmed by good strong warriors.

The two Havish boys were Welsh and the scions of the greatest family there.

And the other suitors too all were from noble families of renown and strength.

Not to mention the flourishing markets of York. The city had the strongest markets in the country now, and thanks to the now well guarded seaside markets in Hull and Scarborough, both of which paid to their Lord in York, who supplied the guards and garrisons.

Rallon had made deals with the local abbeys for their wool, their stock, their candles, and much more besides, and of course the great mass of produce the local farmers had in excess. And the French came up the coast to sell their goods, in small but strong numbers.

It simply was not safe in many southern markets.

Rose had heard some complain that Rallon was choking out his competition by having such quality selection.

Rallon ignored these jibes as they came from the bitter who could not understand that a fair tax was accepted. Anything more was greedy.

He took less than 5%.

And his guards were all well trained, armed and armored in the very best, and actually prevented crime instead of just looking on.

York was easily the safest city in the country. It was well noted that serving girls could lead their cattle from Hull to York, alone, and not suffer anything worse than sore feet.

Rallon had no mercy on rapists and other despoilers. The last had been crucified and hung at a crossroads, his manhood sewn into his mouth.

And that had been a minor nobleman, and a favorite of John's.

Rallon had not cared. John had sent many letters to complain but the man stayed dead.

And the message was clear. The rest of the country might do what they liked, but anyone who misused someone else for sex would suffer and die.

Even those who threatened or joked about it suffered. Rallon had anyone who spoke thus whipped twenty times on a first offense.

It shocked no one that those monsters with such proclivities either died fast or fled south.

All of Yorkshire, meaning all of the north of England was bastion of steel guarded safety and prosperity.

Their castle, the new manors and homes, and the other sources fo income, including acres of still unturned earth, was bringing people north in droves.

Rose knew, and she alone knew, that Rallon was intentionally building a system that would protect him and their family at every level. So if John ever gained real power, the people and nobles would defend the Grangers from him.

And if the peoples of Britain ever tired of their noble masters, they would remember Rallon, Rose, and for now Alyssa as fair and kind leaders, not monsters.

Rose also knew Rallon garnered derision because he had banned and outlawed slavery in Yorkshire.

He did not even allow indentured servitude until the Queen herself had written and suggested he allow this to go through, with reservations.

Rallon had allowed it, though it rankled.

And the rules were intense. So much as a beating to any servants without cause could be most costly to anyone.

And even the discussion of selling human flesh was certain to put Rallon in a rage.

Tia had mentioned how many monarchs in the east had feilded armies of slaves and fed them into the war machine to die horribly without any way of defending themselves.

Only Rose knew that her husband had heard.

The goblet he had been holding at the time had been crushed in so badly the smith it had been taken to had been certain it had been run over by carriages. Not bent by the fingers of his Lordship.

Rose also knew that their relationship confused many as well.

Few nobles Rallons age didn't have mistresses. Most had several.

Rallon not only refused, but had been known to cruelly insult any woman who tried to place herself thus.

And four women who had openly mocked Rose had found themselves unable to buy land, stock, produce, or even get a meeting anywhere in Yorkshire.

And Rallon had openly walked by them as they were told he wasn't available today.

Once more the message was clear.

Rallon had one love, one lady. Rose.

And no one else would ever hold his affections.

Tia had headed off a few of her own who had set their cap toward the Lord of York. They had been badly embarassed before him, and found him coldly unconcerned. And fled.

Rallon never even knew their names, nor bothered to try learning them.

Only one woman mattered to him in such matters.

And as requested, after a brief break, his hands once more fell upon her hips as his chin rested upon her shoulder, watching Alyssa.

"Soon my flower."

He kissed her neck again.

It was great news to hear of the nobles loyal to King Richard seeking homes in York.

Rose knew the benefits and the reasoning behind the decisions, for the most part, and it made the future of York look even brighter.

York would be prepared for the worst and strive for the best for their people and family.

"Mmmm..." the delighted lady hummed at the familiar touch and kiss of her Lord husband.

"So... we have given out blessing," informing Tia and Fisher of the news, "the boy is charming, well mannered, and his family is nice. We have to arrange a dinner with his family to make it official, but there we go."

Her back-related against her husband as this seemed to be a moment of peace between friends.

"The Havish boys are going to make their move and we can use my birthday for all of the engagement announcements. Separate occasions would be so tedious, no?"

The very idea made her want to groan. Rose was just as happy about special occasions as the next woman, but throwing things together was another thing.

"Not to mention, our eldest is due to deliver anytime soon, so we must be on our toes. I just know that I am going to be beside myself when the time comes."

Cynthia was envied by so many and rightfully so. The Lord and Lady of York treated her like the daughter that they always saw her as. Rose would always be snide to anyone who dare insult Cynthia in front of her that if some had half as much intelligence as she did then perhaps it would be easier to see why they loved her so much.

"We have time before the dinner, care to get freshened up with the little one and relax a bit beforehand, or do you have other matters to tend to beforehand?"
