Rare Magicks {True Sinner + DontxBlinkk}

The witch followed Alex down to the garage, squeezing his hand with a smug smile sitting on her lips. Once they were out in the car, Alice waited until each one had a cover over their eyes before she began to fill the car with the sweet scent of peppermint. Not as strong as pumpkin spices, but powerful enough to overpower the surrounding smells of the road, confusing the vampires inside. She on the other hand, knew exactly where she was going. There was a bit of confusion with the roads thanks to being in a new area of the town, but it was hard for Alice to get lost when she had the power of the lay lines pulling her towards the location.

It didn't take long for them to reach the outside of the town and luckily there were no other cars there. That didn't mean no one was inside, but just less of a chance. She glanced to the vampires in the car, slowing the strong mint scent throughout the car. "You can take them off," she told them all before climbing out of the car and taking a deep breath of the air around them. Others were coming, but they had a few minutes to get inside. "Stay in the open areas of the room," she suggested as the others began to get out of the car. "Just so there isn't any trouble." This was going to be bad enough, bringing vampires into their meeting place. Alice really didn't want to make more problems...

Alex and the other Shades piled out of the van so that there were twenty of them standing there. Him and nineteen of his strongest and most elite soldiers. After she told them how and where to stand he nodded to the soldiers, males and females as they headed into the building. Alex walked up behind Alice and slid his hands around her stomach and pulled her back into his chest.

"Peppermint huh? Very clever."

He said as he smiled and kissed the side of her neck, which was a vampires sign of endearment. Something they did with someone that they cared for. He then pinched the sides of her stomach in a joking way and chuckled as he got a squeak out of her. Moving away from her he walked into the building and stood in the open with the rest of the Shades and simply waited as he could feel the number of witches increasing outside the building. This was going to get interesting.

Twenty seemed to be a bit much in Alice's mind, but she wasn't about to argue. As long as they all behaved themselves, the wasn't going to mention anything about their numbers. She chose to keep her mouth shut and let Alex do as he needed to with his own kind. She stood still when the man hugged and kissed her neck, smiling until he decided to grab her sides. She squeaked and gave a light slap to his hands. "Don't do it," she warned, unable to hide the small smile on her face. She was quite ticklish and the man was finding the worst spots to touch already. Joking, of course, but she didn't want him to be able to find her weakness.

Alice followed him inside, reaching out to catch a small fruit bat as it flew towards her, landing gently in her hand just before it let out several high pitched squeaks and flapped its wings. Alice kept her eyes glued to the small creature before nodding and holding it closer to her chest, letting its wings cling to her jacket to find two small loops to hang itself from on the front of the jacket.

It took another few minutes after they arrived for anyone else to pull up to the house, but as soon as there was a good number of them, they began to come into the building.

"Alice, who's car is th--" A sandy blonde haired woman entered first, with several other witches standing behind her of both genders. Her hair was frizzy, to put it simply, and a pair of glasses were perched on her nose. Her green eyes were wide at the sight of who else was in the room and several coven members behind her wore the same shocked look.

Alice rose from her seat to face them, stepping in front of them all. "Gracie... this is important," she began cautiously. "They need to be here. Trust me on this. Please."

One woman stepped forward. She had strong, vivid blue eyes and raven hair not to mention a slender build and a confidence that could shame a movie star. "Alice... dear... Have you thought this through? Bringing a bunch of blood suckers into our home?"

The woman pursed her lips as she stared the older woman down. "Mother, I know what I'm doing. Please, just sit down. That way we can get started."

Alex looked at all the witches and ignored their comments and rude concerns. He had two ways of doing this and one of them was a bit more up front then the other. Sticking with the more polite one first he stepped forward and bowed to everyone there. His shields were still up at the moment so everyone there just thought him to be some random vampire. Not even Alice had felt the full density of his power simply because he didn't need to show her.

"Good morning. My name is Alexander Night. I've come with Alice here to explain why it would be important to listen to her and my suggestion. As you all know a Necromancer has found something of interest in Alice's shop and stolen it. I'm not sure where this Necromancer is and with that being said, he or she has to be fairly powerful to block me from knowing where they are. I have come here with nineteen of my Elite soldiers. I call them Shade's. They are the top in combat and power for my Coven. I request that you put protection spells around myself and my soldiers so that we may aid you in finding this Necromancer without fear of turning on you. A vampire is a prime target to a Necromancer."

He was about to speak again when Gracie and Alice's mother stood. Alex stopped talking and looked at Alice's mother as she looked unimpressed.

"Why should we worry about you? Your vampires are powerful yes, but our Coven can defeat them. We have magic the likes that you have never seen."

Alex sighed and nodded to his soldiers as they put their own shields up and in terms of power, no vampire was able to be felt. Alex looked at her mother and then at Alice.

"Take a deep breath Alice."

When she did he dropped his shields all the way and the following surge of power was mind blowing. Like someone let off an atomic bomb right in the middle of that house. The trees outside swayed and the pebbles and dirt around his feet cleared instantly. The power flowing out of him was Ancient and raw. Unleashed as it was now showed everyone that alone, Alex could slaughter every member of the Coven without breaking a sweat. Even if they were to go at him all at once, he'd still walk away with little to no damage.

Alex then shielded himself once more and looked at the witches who were all now hugging the walls and staying a good distance from him, all except Alice.

"If the Necromancer controls me...what do you think will happen to you?"

Alice braced herself for more challenges and down right rude comments from her own coven, but when Alex asked her to take a breath, she did so. She even went so far as to put up her own shield to protect herself from what was to come. She had a hint of it outside of the club the one night, but that was nothing compared to what Alex was now putting out. Just to prove a point to the witches.

Silence crossed the room before Flora, the witch who tossed the fireball at Alex, stepped forward. She walked with a bit of a shake in her step, but she didn't care to fight with him this time. "I apologize," she told him quickly, making sure she put feeling behind her words to prove she was speaking the truth to the man. She glanced at the other witches still behind her, making eye contact with a select few of them. "Each of us will take a vampire," she told them, falling into her elder position. "Grant them the protection they seek and deserve. They are our allies." She turned back to Alex and nodded once. "For now. Once this Necromancer is defeated, we will look back over what happened. Perhaps this is a good way to bridge the gap between us."

The young witch smiled slightly towards Flora and gave a small nod of thanks. The elder nodded in return before glancing back and stepping forward again, holding out her hand to the closest vampire so she could place the spell. Several others stepped forward to their own partner as the rest of the coven began to work a spell for all of those inside of the room. Cara stepped forward as well, starting for Alex with a faint smile, quite pleased to hear that they would be working together.

Another younger vampire took the blonde's hand and spun her around, holding her hand above her head and dipping her in a showy fashion before she could reach the head of their own coven. He flashed her a toothy, cocky grin before lifting her back to her feet and holding out his own hand, silently taking her as his protector. That gave Alex the chance to speak to Alice. If he wished. This vampire was hundreds of years younger than the head, but he knew what he was doing. He also knew that if Alex wanted Cara, he could come and get her without a fight from this young brother.

Alex watched as Koda appealed to Cara's ego of being the beautiful female in the room and while she was distracted by his flashy show Alex slid over to standing beside Alice. Alex nodded to Koda in thanks then looked at Alice as she stood beside Flora. He placed his hand on the elder's shoulder and chuckled as he nodded to her.

"I accept your apology. I startled you in the shop, you reacted as I would have had I been in your shoes. No one was harmed. As far as bridging the gap. I would like that very much. There is much we could learn from one another. We vampires may not be the greatest at Magic, but we are good at physical strength...Mage's fight along side warriors. Range for the mage, close combat melee for the warrior."

He said as he gave her a small analogy as to what the vampires and witches could accomplish if they were to get along long enough. He then smiled at Alice's mother and saw a strange look in the female's eyes as she motioned to Alice with her eyes and Alex felt a small amount of heat touch his cheeks. Alice's mother burst out laughing which just made his blush a bit harder.

"I never thought I would live to see a vampire as old as you blush. My my Alice. What have you done to him?"

Alice smiled at her mother's laugh but grinned at her question. "I broke him," she joked, patting Alex's lower back before turning to look at him and holding out her hand, palm up, just as the other witches were beginning to do. "Hand," she instructed, nodding towards hers. There were other ways to cast protection spells, but this was the easiest, the strongest and the most personal. Some of the other witches didn't seem to like that idea, but they knew just how important it was to put up the strongest spell they knew to keep the vampire protected. "Let's take the first step, shall we?"

She flashed a smile towards the older man before her hand tightened around his, using her free hand to draw small designs on the back of it as she began to mutter the proper spell. Once she seemed to cover his skin with the glowing light, she turned it over to do the same sort of thing with his palm, drawing different designs, but doing the same actions. The room was filling with mutters and magic as each member of the coven began to work with a vampire for the first time in what many would bet to be ever. This was certainly history in the making. Alex's lingering blush only made it that much better for Alice's memories.

Alex watched her as she drew motions on his skin with her hand and he could feel the protective spell covering him. It was an odd feeling that was for sure. As she continued to do it to the other side of his hand he watched her eyes now, smiling a bit as his blush was going away slowly. It took a while for everyone to get fully protected and when they did, Alex spent some time talking to the elders and agreeing with Flora that Alice was now their link between him and her Coven. She'd become his official spokes person for the two races and Cara had personally taken the job of being Koda's spokesperson even though he really didn't need one.

As most of the witches started leaving Alex was pulled aside by Alice's mother and asked a few questions. Alice was not allowed to hear the questions and as Alex left her mother was smirking as Alex looked a bit pale. Normally he wouldn't be afraid of idle threats, but it was the fact that she was a mother that did get to him a bit. When he got back to Alice several of the Shades just ported home since they knew how to get home from there. They didn't know how to get there, but they knew home.

"So...care to ride back with me or do you have things you need to do?"

Alice went along with Alex to speak to Flora, accepting the role of being a link before she broke away to speak to some of the other witches closer to her own age. Including Cara. The blonde looked quite pleased with having a vampire to speak with and Koda was already gloating to the other vampires about the power of 'his witch'. He wasn't serious and was simply spewing bullshit for the most part, but that was Koda in a nutshell. He could tell you to go fuck yourself and you'd thank him, he was that charismatic.

But when things began to settle and people began to leave, Alice rejoined Alex, smiling at his suggestion. She fished the keys from her jacket pocket and held them up around her finger, waving them in front of him for a moment, her smile growing. "Don't have another way I'm heading home," she told him. "Parents live in the other direction and the others are doing their own thing." With a gentle grab of the bat on her jacket, Alice removed her second familiar and looked him in the eyes. "Get home," she instructed him, earning a soft cry and a nuzzle into her hand before the bat left through the nearest window. The dark eyed girl glanced back to Alex and held out the keys around her finger once again.

"Trust me driving your car again? Or think we could trust you with this location?"

Alex watched her familiar fly off and smiled. Koda was going to 'get to know' Cara a bit more which let him know what that meant. Smiling he just shook his head and let the two go. As everyone cleared out and left Alex looked at Alice and smiled as he walked over to her and stopped the keys by holding her finger in his hand. His chest was pressing against hers as he cupped her cheek and tilted her head up to meet his. He deepened the kiss this time, opening his mouth to it and sliding his tongue along her bottom lip before teasing her own tongue with his.

His other hand was on the small of her back and gripping her close. This wasn't a lust filled kiss, this was a passionate kiss, the kind lovers shared, not fuck buddies. When he pulled away he kissed the tip of her nose and looked at her.

"Do you trust me not to hurt you?"

It was a question for her as well as in regards to answering her own.

Alice stopped the keys as he asked, smiling just before he leaned in to kiss her. Alice lifted herself up slightly onto the balls of her feet, urging him to deepen the kiss and take a small step forward with the touches. As it was, the man didn't need any more urging, it seemed. She let her tongue meet his, keeping the touch light, just enough to tease him and leave him wanting more and craving another taste. No magic this time, just pure, natural Alice... She could almost feel the feeling behind his touches; how he left his hand on her back instead of her ass, how he held her close but not hard. And the kiss on the nose practically had her swooning.

Luckily, she could control herself enough to keep her body in check.

She set her hands gently on the man's shoulders, looking him over before meeting his gaze and giving a careful nod. "I'm protecting you," she pointed out softly. "I can trust you not to harm me..."

Of course, this serious moment was interrupted by her mind standing on the edge of the gutter, but again, she kept herself in check to a point where it would take a damn good mind reader to figure out just how dirty her thoughts could have turned. No matter how old Alex might have been, she was pretty damn sure he couldn't tell what she was thinking. No blush, no shiver, no sign of anything changing. Good job, Alice. Very good job.

Alex smiled and nodded to her as he took the keys from her hand then opened the car door for her to sit in the passenger seat. When she was in and buckled he closed the door and slipped into the drivers side. He adjusted the seat and mirrors to his needs then started the drive back. Following her directions he drove down the roads and looked over at her. He would take her home if she needed but he really wanted her to stay with him one more night and he actually felt a bit nervous asking her. Still, he sucked it up and tried his luck. He had a feeling she'd probably say no, but it never hurt to ask.

"Alice, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind staying another night? This way I can learn a bit more about you and your customs and you can learn about me and the vampires in my Coven."

That was partially the truth, but the other half was that he just wanted to spend time with her in private where they could just be themselves.

Alice slid into the car and began to give the man directions back into town as soon as he was ready for them. She was careful not to speak more than needed, honestly enjoying a simple car ride with someone who could understand what had just happened and just how intense their future situation was about to be. But at the same time, he wasn't showing his stress, which was calming Alice down immensely. It was wonderful. When he dared to ask his question, the girl looked towards him, glancing over his expression carefully.

"I have to stop off at my place," she told him, running her finger tips over the ends of her hair, doing what she could to cut back on her twisting nerves. "Check things over, make sure the familiars haven't ruined things..." Gather up what she may need, properly this time. She had some warning that she was going somewhere, which meant she was going to be prepared for it all. "Normal yet important things. Then, if you'd like me to..." Her words slowly faded into nothing before a smile came across her face. "I'm always interested in learning."

Especially about a mystical being that she knew so little truths about. Reading about vampires and talking to one were two different things entirely and she always preferred first hand experience over something a book says.

Alex nodded with a smile and took her directions to take her home first. He parked the van outside her home and let her have her own privacy inside her house while he waited for her in the van. As he waited he sent a message to the chefs of the house letting them know that there would be a guest and that a simply but filling meal for her would be appreciated. Granted it was only about two in the afternoon but still. When she came out with a small bag of spare clothing and whatever else she decided to pack he drove her back to his own home and after the van was parked he walked with her to his room, dropped off her bag then took her to the one room no human, let alone a witch, would have normally been granted access to.

Opening a pair of double doors he revealed to her a library that had books in it that looked older than Alex himself.

"This is our history, everything you could possible want to know about us is here. Hope you kept up on the Latin, because most of the older ones are all in it. However I figured while you read over things I could sit here and answer anything that pops into your mind."

He said as he sat next to her on the couch after she did some sprucing and got a good stack of books. He was honestly surprised how easy it was to be so comfortable around her. As she sat on one side of the couch, he'd pulled her legs into his lap and just massaged her calves and feet while she read and asked questions. Was he falling for her? Mated couples acted like this all the time.

Alice followed along inside of the man's home in almost a surprising ly obedient fashion. She wasn't always one to follow behind people, simply because of her personality, yet there she was. As soon as they got to their destination, Alice's jaw dropped. She had seen a large amount of books before, but this just looked to be intensive. Not to mention the age of some of these texts... Alex gave her permission to read them and she immediately started looking around for one a stack. Most were in Latin, as she went after some of the older ones, but she returned to the couch with an armful and took a seat, picking up the one on the top of the pile.

She cracked it open just in time for her friend to pull her legs into his lap. The corner of her lips tugged back into a smile as she slid down against the arm of the chair, giving him more of her legs to work with. Alex always looked like a gentleman and did a wonderful job at acting the part, but now Alice was truly believing he was. They weren't in any sort of serious relationship, hell they weren't 'officially' anything more than friends, yet there they were, acting like a couple. Alice had boyfriend s who never treated her this good...

The witch had a few questions about words that she couldn't translate properly, but it wasn't until she finished a few chapters that she brought up any real questions.

"It says your kind used to use magic," she pointed out, gesturing to a page in the book. "Why don't you anymore? "

Alex looked up at her as she asked why the vampires as a race stopped using magic. He smiled a bit and tapped her foot.

"How do you think the war between witches and vampires started my dear? Vampires had grown into a formidable threat. Back when we did use magic, as you know, the more you consume the more power hungry you get. You may not mean to, but you do. Vampires have a natural animal instinct. The stronger survive. Now take that natural born instinct and add magic into the mix."

He said as he let her put two and two together. Vampires were getting too violent and too powerful for their own good and it was causing problems. As he looked at her foot he smiled a bit and rubbed around her ankle and the heel of her foot seeming to get lost in the actions for a moment, like he was remembering something he wasn't too keen on talking about.

Alice may not want to admit it, but she knew exactly what he was saying. She always tried to keep her thirst for knowledge under control, but it was difficult. Especially when she was sitting in a library like this one, full of thousands of books, holding secrets she had never even tried to dream about. And all of it was able to fall into her hands. Alex was giving her permission to read everything inside of this room, although she never quite realized what that meant. She was far too interested in reading over thinking and working it all out in her mind.

"How long ago did the conflict end?" she asked softly, bringing her foot up to lightly tap his arm. She didn't want to knock him out of his thoughts completely, but she felt the need to keep him away from thoughts that he might regret. Or thoughts that he might not want to deal with right at that moment. "We haven't been told much about the fight, to be completely honest. Our Elders may know, but they had a habit of keeping us 'newbies' in the dark about important things like that. Hoping it won't taint our magic of lead us down the wrong path." Alice gave a quick roll of her eyes before shrugging her shoulders slightly, looking Alex over. "They gave us what we needed to know, but nothing more than that. Thought they'd be protecting us..."

If it wasn't for Alice's curious nature and snooping abilities, she bet there would be a chance that the elders wouldn't have even told them about the conflict with the vampires. Only to avoid them, if seen, with some story of how they were out to kill witches and drain them of their blood and power. Most would believe that, but Alice always wanted more information.

Alex blinked a few times as he smiled weakly. He then reached over and tapped a book, third one down. It was a bit thinner then the rest.

"This one is written by me and a few other Ancients. We detailed and outlined the war, what caused it, how it started and how it ended. He had all the newer vampire generations read it to keep the mistakes from happening again. Which is why we don't practice magic any more. Just read over that. I'm going to go take a shower."

He said as he gave her a pained smile and stood up. Setting her feet back on the couch he walked out of the room simply because in that book it detailed just how cruel Alex was back then, but he also had good reasons. While Alex showered and Alice read, she'd see that the war had started because a band of rogue vampires had attacked and slaughtered a Witch Coven. Draining the witches of their blood and powers. While the vampires had tried to handle it on their own, several of their villages were attacked and destroyed by Witches.

Alex lost his mother, his father, his mate to be and their unborn infant in the main attack which was what caused the war to take one hell of a turn for the worst. Having to bury his family had sent him over the deep end and Alex was single-handedly responsible for well over two hundred Witch deaths in the following months. He destroyed several Coven's and caused the war to escalate severely. However, the war had stopped because Alex as well as several others saw that the blood shed was not going to stop, it was only going to get worse over time.

So, Alex and the elders of the Vampire races formed a treaty. No vampires in witch territory, and no witches in Vampire territory. The two sides would simply stay clear of one another and if things happened so that they were forced to be in the same area, they ignored and let each other alone. This treaty was written several hundred years ago, so not many remembered anything about it.

The witch watched as he left the room before she picked up the book and cracked it open at the very beginning. There was quite a bit of text inside, hand written in the oldest of languages. Alice let her eyes linger over the page, not reading it, but taking in the look of it, the age and what the words were drawn like. It was only after that was finished that she started to properly read the words, taking in their meaning. She could almost feel the passion behind the words, the hatred for what happened, the reasons behind it, each and every feeling the writers had while creating the works. It had a complete explanation of the history and the treaty signed and suddenly, everything seemed to make sense to her.

By the end of the book, Alice was in tears. Not sobbing, but she had to wipe her eyes several times on her jacket. To see her own kind be wiped out in such a violent way was overwhelming. Alex wasn't exactly the best off either, having to deal with the devastating loss of his family at the hand of the witches in the area. It was a hard thing to swallow, to learn what exactly had happened, but Alice would rather see it all in front of her than live int he dark. Certainly when they had just made their own agreement to work together. The exact opposite of what was described in the book.

She set it back down on the table, leaning forward with another wipe of her eye. She waited until Alex returned to move, letting the text sink in while she had the chance. No wonder the man didn't answer her question the first time she asked about his family.

Alex stayed away from her long enough to shower, get his thoughts together and relax his mind enough that he could function without being too depressed. When he came back down to the library he was wearing a pair of pajama pants and a short sleeved shirt. Just something to relax in. Sitting on the couch opposite of her he rested is hands in his lap and sighed a bit before taking a moment to look at her. He'd caught the scent of her tears as he entered the room which really wasn't helping his mood.

"I'm sorry if I made you cry. I just figured you should know the reasons that vampires and witches hated one another for so long. What I did...back then. It wasn't right even with what happened and I deal with that regret every day. After meeting you though, you're different. I love being around you. You're very amusing to watch at times and you remind me so...so much of..."

Alex stopped speaking for a moment as he felt a lump in his throat. He hadn't spoken of Selena in so long. His soon to be mate at the time was the sweetest female he'd ever met. Smart, caring, adoring, a bit of a wild card at times and like Alice she would occasionally speak her mind. Alice was different in her own ways of course and he enjoyed those little twists.

"If you want to return home I understand."

Alice pulled back slightly to give the vampire plenty of space on the couch until he began to speak. She looked up at him, watching carefully, letting her eyes trail over him before shaking her head and sliding closer to him. Her hand gently landed on his thigh, using it as a way to simply stay close to the man. "Alex, I think no less of you after reading that book," she assured him. "You did what you felt was right in a time of rage."

The woman gently moved her hand to Alex's own, wrapping her fingers gently around his, prepared for the man to pull away from her touch. "This would be the worst time for me to leave." Last time they had a misunderstanding, Alex left her in the woods. She wasn't going to leave him alone until they worked it out enough that he could feel like they were on an even ground with the idea of the war.

Alex tensed a bit when she held his hand but he didn't pull away. When she spoke about how she didn't feel any different and how she wasn't going to go anywhere he just leaned to the side and leaned into her, his head resting on her shoulder and in the soft groove of her neck. His hand gripped hers lightly and he just stayed like that for a while before slowly pulling back and sighing heavily as he wiped his face and took in a deep breath.

"So...on a lighter note. Are you hungry? It's getting close to supper time for you so if you want to eat, the chefs would be more than happy to take an order from you."

He said as he smiled and lifted her hand to his lips giving it a gentle kiss as he looked at her. He had a high need to kiss her lips again but he'd hold off on that for a bit.

Alice cracked a small smile before nodding, running her free hand gently over his hair as he spoke. "Yes, I am quite hungry, actually." She let him sit up again, taking her hand from his after the kiss to place it on his cheek. "I'd be happy to give your chefs an order, don't worry about that one." She leaned in and place a gentle kiss on the vampire's nose before bothering to stand up to her feet. As soon as she was up, she reached up to the ceiling, stretching her muscles with a soft groan as she pulled her muscles, leaning back slightly to pull a few small cracks from her back.

With a soft sigh, she stood up again and glanced back towards Alex, smiling to the man. "Do you not need food?" she asked, tipping her head slightly. "Or do you eat it as a treat?"

Alex watched her as she stretched and smirked a bit when he heard the two pops from her back. While they walked to the dining room the chef's were human but they very loyal to the vampires simply because they were old friends. Some of the vampires liked to eat just to taste the food. It did nothing for them hunger wise, but the taste was still a nice change. As Alex looked at her he smiled.

"I can eat, it just does nothing for my hunger. Eating and not eating are the same affects for me. Sometimes I eat if I just want to taste certain spices or if our chefs are trying a new receipt and just want to know how it tastes."

He replied as he took her to the kitchen and the chefs, as he said, were more than delighted to tell her what they had available and see what she wanted to eat. It was pretty obvious that they liked the idea of cooking for someone who was actually going to eat the food and get nourishment from it. The whole time she talked to the chefs, Alex was right beside her and his hand was gingerly stroking the small of her back and her sides, again taking on the role of a lover without realizing it.

Alice hummed as she gave a quick thought as to what she wanted for dinner and settled on grilled chicken of some sort. She let the chef have control over what the details were exactly, choosing to have a surprise instead of planning it all out. It had been a while since someone else cooked for her, especially someone of that quality of chef. She felt Alex's hand work against her lower back, bringing a smile to her lips before stepping closer and wrapping her own arm around his lower back to run her fingers over his spine.

"Thank you," she quickly thanked the chef before looking towards the man beside her, nudging him gently with her hip to pull his attention back to her. "Going to join me, or just going to watch me eat?" She was half joking, but at the same time, she wouldn't mind him sitting at the table with her while she did eat.
