Unbreakable Ties (Ookami & Sumi)

((It's cloudy here too. xD But, I can't really sleep today because I have so many things left to do for Monday. I hate the fact that I can't stop procrastinating. Either way, I couldn't give a reply so early in the morning today, because I barely managed to read the post. XD Needed the beauty sleep this time.))

Chloe was actually startled as Jared suddenly blocked her way, facing her with an expression that showed he was annoyed with something. In turn, she gave a puzzled look as he ordered that they would not go anywhere until she was calmer. There she thought he would not notice that she was nervous, yet Jared seemed to pick up every little thing, causing her to avert her eyes once she was found out. She was aware that she couldn't show up in front of Trent, trembling and still trying to convince him that she was the real Chloe with that kind of uncertainty. Of course that when he pointed out what she said earlier that day and what she wanted now, she felt like she was found guilty. However, what really got her attention and made her shaking stop, was the idea that to Trent, Jared would mean more than her, his own sister. Obviously, she didn't want that, even frowning at the mere mentioning of it. What was next, though, caused the brunette to look up at him with a real scowl, before shaking her head in a clear 'no, that's not what I want'.

"No, you're right... I should talk with him. I should be the one to make him realize the truth." she admitted. Chloe really was grateful for having someone like Jared around right now. Even if his words were harsh most of the time, it was probably just what she needed to stop being a coward and taking some action. She nodded as if to acknowledge what he said. Indeed, she could try this no matter how many times she wanted. She just had to try until he would trust her. Though, right now she really wished she wouldn't have to try so many times. She wanted to clear up this misunderstanding as soon as possible. It seemed so hard to wait until she would be able to be together with Trent once again. This is why she suddenly felt like she had to try her hardest today. "Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm really lucky to I have you here." she spoke with a smile, before she took a deep breath. "Alright, no more being afraid. I can do this. I want to do this." she added, motioning that she was alright now and they could go.

((No more Pepsi for me >_< Bought a two liter bottle yesterday and was sipping it all night. Went for 32 hours without sleep because of it….. probably should have listened to you and gone to sleep when you did xD As such I might pass out early tonight :p))

Jared himself was shaking a bit as he tried to act tough in front of Chloe. He didn’t know how she’d react, and the possibility that his words would push her away from him made his words seem even more hostile to him than even Chloe thought. To be perfectly honest he was starting to want Chloe for himself, to wrap his arms around her back and pull her into an embrace and tell her that even if the world was against her, he’d be there for her, But it wasn’t his trust Chloe wanted, and when he realized what he was thinking in his head, he immediately began beating himself up inside. Part of him actually wanted Chloe to fail. He wouldn’t let himself show Chloe that side of him, but if Chloe failed, then she wouldn’t be able to go home, and even an idiot would be able to tell that Jared’s place was preferable over sleeping outside for another night. She didn’t have to love him back or anything, she didn’t even have to say or do anything. Just having around him was a great feeling, and his offer to help her out had pretty much given him the gift of spending an entire day with Chloe. They’d even managed to do a few couple like things like eating together, and introducing Chloe to his parents.

Balling his hand into a fist so tightly that it hurt, he tried to stay calm, to continue playing the part of a concerned friend who fully supported Chloe and her objective. When she thanked him though, he felt something inside him snap, the unsuspecting innocent look in her eyes tearing him apart inside as he couldn’t hold himself back his arm on her shoulder slipped behind her and pulled her into him her head lightly bumping against his chest as he held her with one arm, trembling like a new born calf himself. “H-How badly do you want Trent to believe you?” he asked obviously more than a bit nervous. “I want you to try your best, but if that fails…. I’ll force him to believe you today, though it’ll probably cost you….. I can’t tell you what, or how but if having Trent believe you means that much to you, I’m willing to do anything to make it work for you” he whispered, sounding a bit hurt by his own thoughts. He was only holding her with one hand, and the embrace wasn’t that intimate, but his hold on her was incredible, not really forcing her against him, but not letting her pull away or push him away. His green eyes clouded with something unrecognizable to Chloe. “Just tell me now, just how far are you willing to go to have Trent believe you?”

((That explains why you actually managed to stay up for so long. XD Still... 32 hours?! And you were saying I was crazy.))

Chloe flinched as she suddenly felt his hand slipping behind her, pulling her into him. The sudden notice of how he trembled surprised her, for a moment being clueless as to what was going on with him, though, she feared looking up at him in case he would show her that sorrowful expression she already imagined in her mind. She swallowed dryly as she waited for an explanation, figuring that he did want to say something. There had to be a good reason for this. At his stuttered question her eyes snapped open, all of a sudden feeling that there was something crossing his mind which she'd probably not like. Maybe it was just her imagination, but she felt like something was wrong. She'd call it a sixth sense, but she wasn't sure if it was just her much too cautious self finding different reasons to trust no one. "Why are you asking...?" she mumbled before he continued talking, the suggestion that he could force Trent to believe her in exchange for something causing her heart to race. As much as she actually trusted Jared, she couldn't help but be sort of worried. She wished she could read his mind right now, because unless he was clear about it, she would not be able to actually trust him so much anymore.

Either way, she couldn't go over the fact that he was actually using her weakness into his favor. He knew very well that she was willing to do her best for Trent, but it seemed like for him this was the perfect chance to get something from her. She knew it. She could've sworn it was better if she didn't mention she had someone she liked at that time. But, if she said she didn't like anybody it might have led to other misunderstanding perhaps, like she didn't even like Trent. Now, this little bit of information was turned against her. Taking a breath, Chloe tried to keep her calm and think of how to reply to that. At this point she wondered if this was another one of those obstacles she had to go through. "Jared... You do know that I'd do almost anything for Trent..." she spoke, before she slowly raised her head to look up at him, looking pretty serious. "However, I can't guarantee that I'll do anything for him. Not if that something would mean to betray him in any way at the same time. I'm honestly not sure what are you thinking of... but, if it's what I think it is... I'd rather do everything by myself. I really want to trust you. But you're making things sort of difficult when you're not clear about what you're thinking." she added.

Jared just stood there for a few seconds, thinking her words over in his head before nodding his head, and releasing her from his grasp. A mixture of relief and disappointment in his eyes as he quickly turned away and continued walking, not bothering to explain himself any further to Chloe as he simply saw no need. “Come on, I won’t lead you into a trap or anything” he stated ushering her to follow as he resumed making his way to Trent’s new apartment, his voice sounding a bit distant now as if he didn’t want to associate himself too closely with Chloe anymore. “Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to jeopardize your feelings towards Trent, or vice versa, remember my goal is to make you and Trent happy” he mumbled, scratching the back of his neck before turning around with a somewhat forced smile.

“Don’t get me wrong, ideally we’ll go see Trent, explain everything, and everything will go smoothly, and we’ll all live happily ever after” he smirked nihilistically, as if that ending weren’t possible. “But if that doesn’t work, if you can’t do everything yourself then I might have to step in.” He paused for a moment thinking his idea over carefully before speaking “You won’t be betraying Trent, don’t worry, I’m not stupid enough to make you do something that Trent will hate you for” he chuckled, seeming a bit more like himself now. It was clear that he had no intentions of telling Chloe what his supposed plan was, but he’d given her his word that the ideal situation would be for things to be concluded with Chloe convincing him.

“As for trusting me, I’d appreciate if you had a bit more faith in me, though I won’t ask for your complete and utter trust, keep in mind that I am just another guy who had a crush on you, it’d be foolish to trust me completely. The only thing I’m going to ask of you is that you trust me when I say I’m taking you to Trent’s place, no detours, no traps, straight to Trent.” He stated firmly, a look of determination on his face that indicated his words were genuine. “And once we’re infront of Trent, I doubt that hot head will let me do anything to you against your will.” He assured her, trying to seem as reasonable and logical as possible. “Forget about trusting me, focus your entire attention on making Trent trust you, that’s our primary and most important objective right? If you manage to make Trent trust you then there’s no chance or reason for me to do anything which would hurt you or Trent…. I want my friends to be happy, not miserable” he smiled, genuinely this time. Jerking his head to the side to indicate that they should get going. Whatever he was planning, if he was still planning anything at all, there was little point in standing around either way.

Surely, Jared was one hard to read person. At least, for Chloe anyway, because she wasn't sure what to think of anymore. Earlier he was saying things like in case she failed he would help her but in exchange for something he would not talk about almost causing her to lose her trust in him, and now he was trying to assure her that he wasn't leading her into a trap. Something which would theoretically be even more suspicious. After all, if he wanted to lead her into a trap, he would not give away his plans, right? A little fight went on in her mind, trying to decide on whether she should trust him or not. Given how kind he was, she figured he couldn't be planning something so terrible. On the other hand, it could probably be for deceiving her. A sigh escaped her lips and shook her thoughts away. She would just trust him and at the same time be somewhat cautious too. Besides, there was no guarantee that he would never try something.

Reluctantly following him once again, she couldn't help but look a little disappointed as she saw that skeptical smirk as if that kind of happiness was something hard to realize. But was it that impossible? Sure, Jared did like her and it would probably be hurtful for him to watch her and Trent be happy (if they got together), but there were a lot of chances for him to fall in love with someone else who would return the feelings. Besides, it wasn't like she and him were so close until now. She figured his way of liking her was more like a crush instead, but not something that serious. With Trent, the story was completely different. They grew up together for seven years and their lives revolved around each other's. In her opinion, this was needless to say a stronger bond. To add to it, they were siblings too, so she would not ever be able to forget him completely even if she tried her hardest.

The pair of blue eyes looked up at him once again as he mentioned that he might step in if she failed. In spite of his chuckle, she still knew that he was suffering. Maybe he was doing a good job in pretending he was back to his usual self, but she couldn't be fooled. Not so easily. "I do know myself that I can't just trust you completely, seeing how you 'did' have a crush on me. But, yes, I also do trust you in another sense." she finally spoke, smiling a little as he called Trent a hot head. She could agree with that. "I do want to see you happy too, Jared. And if I'm able, I'll make sure everything will end up well." she added, before she once again went silent, collecting her thoughts for when she would see Trent again.

Needless to say, Trent shared a stronger bond with her, that much was pretty much undebatable, but who have the stronger connection didn’t always equate to who held the stronger emotions. According to Jared he’d been single the whole time Chloe was supposedly dead, whereas Trent at the very least had seen several women. Some might even say that Trent was in a happy relationship with Charlotte, and Chloe’s intervention could only result in causing both Chloe and Trent harm if he were to choose Charlotte over Chloe. While Chloe might have had the dream to go by, this ‘world’ was clearly a bit different to the one she’d seen in her dream earlier, and there was no guarantee that Trent would be so willing to commit the heinous act of incest. Continuing his relationship with Charlotte would be so much easier, the question was though would it make him happier?

Jared seemed to have pretty much abandoned all sense of modesty now, the shy reaction he’d shown earlier, and the lie suddenly overturned by him blatantly admitting to having a crush on her, on one hand he seemed a bit more relaxed now, one might even say he looked ready to take on the world. Even his stride seemingly more confident than it had been moments ago. There was of course the chance that it was all an act put on to assure Chloe, but it was equally likely that he was just acting that way due to a completely unrelated reason. He smiled at her comment regarding her doing her best to make everything end well. Genuinely appreciating the words for what they were. “As I said before, the best ending is for you and Trent to be happily together, if you talk to him and he see’s the light, then we’re all set on the happiness freeway. If he rejects you….. then I might turn into a predator and take advantage of your broken heart” he winked jokingly, knowing full well that Chloe wasn’t the type to fall for him just because Trent had rejected her. The chances of Trent doing that were pretty much nonexistent anyway.

A few more steps and a corner later, Jared’s pace notably slowed, his finger pointing to a rather flashy looking tower which could have easily been a hotel or office building. The snow white walls a stark comparison to that of the apartment Chloe had known. The first floor even housed a proper lobby, complete with what looked like rotating doors and a reception. “Nearly there” he stated cheerfully, appearing as if he were looking forward to the confrontation with Trent, a careful look at his face though would show that he didn’t seem too pleased at all. “One thing I thought I should ask beforehand, I’ll be there for you when you face meet him, but after that do you want me to stick around or wait outside?..... I mean it’d be pretty awkward if I stood there and listened in on you confess your love for him” he smirked, another forced one.

Chloe shook her head with a sigh, though there was still a smile on her face as she acknowledged that he was just joking when he said he might take advantage of her broken heart if Trent rejected her. "Just don't secretly pray that he rejects me, alright?" she returned the joke. Honestly, she wasn't completely sure that she would be able to make her brother trust her from the second attempt either. But, she could only hope for the better. If anything, she would just use all the weapons at her hand. Memories, feelings, logical reasoning and all that. Hell, if nothing worked, she would just go with the second option. But until she would use all of her other options, she would avoid actually turning to some blood tests to prove that they were siblings. If she actually thought that pretending she wasn't his sister was hard, trying to make him believe that she was really his little sibling was even harder. That only meant that it was a good thing to be happy with what she had when she had. Still, right now, she couldn't be content with this kind of situation, as long as she didn't have Trent by her side.

When she spotted the building Jared pointed to, Chloe's mouth hung open. "What the..." she barely mumbled, quickly comparing the previous area Trent lived in, and the one he was in now. Alright, he was doing pretty good actually. Shaking her head, she reminded herself what her real objective was. Staring wasn't going to help her with anything. Though, this was pretty intimidating. Now, of all times, she felt sort of self-conscious, hoping that she didn't smell too bad and that she didn't look like a total mess. Nevertheless, the fact that the tower even had a lobby caused Chloe to frown slightly. "This place makes me want to go back and change into something more suiting." she mumbled in a lower voice, before she almost bumped into Jared as he spoke to her once again. Looking up, she slightly blushed and lightly scowled. "I'll be thankful if he recognizes me for now. I'll leave the confessions for when I'm sure it's safe. If he reacts positively, I might slip in some words today, but I'd rather not risk it. I don't want to scare him away and make him think I'm really one of those fans who's looking out for a night with him." she replied as an explanation. "But, if I'll suddenly think of confessing something, I'll probably make you a sign." she added quickly, motioning to just lead the way already.

Jared had to think about her joke for a moment, wondering for a split second if he was praying for her failure somewhere in his mind. He’d be lying if he said he completely supported Trent and Chloe’s relationship, socially he couldn’t care less if they were siblings, but at a personal level it was a bit painful to think of the two getting together as a couple. He was certain though that he wanted Chloe and Trent to regain their sibling bond at least though, and despite knowing that Chloe had only told him not to pray in jest, he nodded his head seriously. Expressing how he genuinely did want Trent and Chloe to return to being brother and sister. Sensing the determination, and ushered onward by Chloe’s words, Jared continued to make his way to the rotating doors. Feeling a bit under dressed himself, he found himself wondering how much the weekly rent would be for a place like this, but decided it wasn’t a sum he’d ever be able to afford. Not unless he won the lottery or anything, and even then he wouldn’t want to leave his mother alone in the house that he’d been raised in. His home might not be the fanciest, but had a whole lot more sentimental value than the polished white floors of the lobby could ever offer.

“I’ll keep an eye out for the signal then” he smiled, implying that things would go well, and that he was confident Chloe would be able to confess her feelings. Personally Jared didn’t really want to endorse the act, but he knew that Chloe’s emotions for Trent were one of the strongest assets they had. If Chloe could somehow prove that she not only loved Trent genuinely as a person, but also cared for him in a way most selfish fanatics wouldn’t be able to, Trent could easily be persuaded and convinced. The question was though, how such a thing would be possible…. And if Chloe would be able to go through with it….. unlikely.

Approaching the door Jared felt a bit under dressed as well, but he had to remind himself that he was just going to Trent’s house. Even if it looked like a luxury hotel it was just his friend’s house…. Right? Walking through the circling doors with Chloe close behind him, Jared quickly strode across the marble flooring and to the reception desk where a smartly dressed woman frowned at the pair before giving them a retail smile. “Can I help you?” she asked a sickly sweet voice. Jared didn’t really explain anything to her besides the fact that they’d come to see Trent who’d just moved in. Adding in a quick lie that they’d come to help him unpack and then to celebrate his moving. The woman didn’t seem to have trouble believing Jared, but Chloe’s look wasn’t all that helpful. She did look a bit scruffy after a night out. “Room 701, Would you like me to escort you?” the woman asked still wearing that stupid fake smile.

“We’ll be fine, let’s go Chloe” smiling politely back at the woman and thanking her, Jared pointed to the elevator nearby. “7th floor, probably one of the first rooms we’ll come across, so if you need time to think things over, you’ve got now, and the time inside the elevator.” Part of him was about to make a joke about being alone in an elevator with her, but now wasn’t the time or place. Chloe needed all the time she had to prepare herself for a confrontation she couldn’t ever be ready for.

If only she would actually end up to using that signal. On the other hand, Chloe would be grateful even with the mere thought of being accepted as his sister. Besides, it wasn't like it was too late to cut off those feelings which weren't proper for a sibling, right? She barely just realized her own feelings one day ago. Or was it just in the morning? Either way, if she could still be by his side, she could probably endure anything else. Or at least, that what she strongly hoped inside, because if Trent would be happy with Charlotte, she wasn't sure how happy would she be to see him showing some affection only to that woman who, ironically, was just a substitute for her in the first place. Now, she only prayed that this woman wouldn't be at Trent's place right now. Else, everything would be in vain. In fact, it would probably end up even worse than if he was alone. She shuddered at that thought.

Well, she couldn't say she didn't expect that kind of sarcastic and sick smile from the receptionist. She received the same look from the man back at the estate agency, when she was almost kicked out. Besides, even if she took a bath, her own clothes weren't that fancy anyway. With the same uniform she wore at the time she left her house, she was bound to look like she was poor, or like she was one of those orphans on the streets. Even so, she kept her cool and ignored the glances she got from the woman behind the desk. Quickly following Jared around, she paid no more attention to the irrelevant thoughts and instead focused once again on the matter at hand.

"Think about what? I can't really think of a speech. It would be too fake." she mumbled as he reminded her that she still had some more time to think. "To be honest, this seemed so much easier if it was something spontaneous." she added with a nervous chuckle, before she shook her head. "It's useless to think now. Besides, I doubt he will just stand there and listen. He'll probably come up with some insults, some proof that I'm lying and all that. So, I'll just act on instinct. If not, well, I'll manage." she spoke, seeming rather calm and confident, though she could her own heart racing like there was no tomorrow.

Jared agreed that a speech would be too fake, but there were a few things that he thought she might need to consider. Walking up to Trent and saying ‘Hi I’m Chloe, I actually never died’ would be suicide…. Or would such bluntness work in their favor? Either way he decided not to distract Chloe with any real advise as the elevator arrived and the both shuffled inside rather awkwardly, not due to each other’s presence, but due to the task that awaited ahead. The mechanical pinging of the elevator was soon followed by the sound of the doors closing and then the buzzing of an elevator. Silence filling the small enclosed space, Jared could feel butterflies fluttering around in his own stomach, so he didn’t even need to imagine how nervous Chloe would be feeling. He’d only just decided not to give her advice, but staying silent was unbearable. “Going in casually and acting on instinct is fine and all…. But if I may one piece of crucial advise.” He offered, watching the numbers light up overhead. “If your instinct is to hide behind me and refuse to make eye contact with Trent then please don’t. It’s not very effective and I can tell you first hand how hurtful it is to have a girl do that to you” he chuckled, referring to how Chloe had did that to him using Trent all those years ago.

The door pinged again cheerfully and the heavy metal doors slowly began to open, the ride up to the seventh floor somehow seeming awfully short now that it was over. Jared took the first step out onto the seventh floor, looking left and right as if he were about to cross the road before letting out a relieved sigh. It wasn’t like they were sneaking into the place, but there was just something about the place that made him not want to bump into anyone in the hallway. Turning to Chloe he tried putting on a assuring grin before glancing over to room 701. “Remember, just do what you want, and say what you like, we’ll make Trent’s understand one way or another, failure isn’t even a possible option so you just need to be yourself” he stated, trying to string together words to relieve then tension. Jared looked just as nervous as Chloe, glancing at her and nodding his head in affirmation once before raising his hand to the door and knocking three times. The dull thudding of Jared’s fist seeming to echo throughout the whole hallway before a grouchy voice answered from inside. “Who is it? Nevermind, just come in, door’s open.”

Chloe raised an eyebrow as Jared offered to give her an advice. When she heard his so called advice, however, she blushed embarrassed as she remembered the time she used to hide behind Trent. "I wasn't really planning on switching sides now and have the opposite going. Though, on a second thought that sounds like such a good idea." she replied with a chuckle as well. Indeed, it would be so much easier to hide behind Jared and let him do the talking, but she had to remind herself that this was a coward's way to solve things. Besides, she couldn't rely on somebody else the rest of her life. Sooner or later, she had to learn to take care of her own problems and face them. Once the silence returned, her eyes glanced at the buttons lighting up, finding herself gulping with each floor that passed, bringing her closer to her destination at a rather much too quicker pace than she expected, heart feeling like it was about to get out of her chest any minute. At this point, she almost wished she could just go to school and have one of those hard exams instead of being this nervous about how Trent would react. Nevertheless, once the door slided open, she had no way to escape anymore.

"Be myself. Right." she mumbled at his attempt to assure her, nodding even though she was still just as worried. For a moment she actually involuntarily stopped behind Jared as they reached the door, just like he said, only to realize what she was doing and quickly move beside him, putting on that straight, confident expression on, in spite of the fact that she probably didn't seem that serious wearing the school uniform and keeping a teddy bear in her hand. Nodding in return to his sign that he was about to knock at the door, she quickly prayed that everything would be alright. He looked just as nervous as her, which almost annoyed her, because she actually relied on him to calm her down. She would have actually scolded him, if only she didn't hear Trent's voice. Awkwardly enough, she almost felt her heart skip a beat as she heard him. Alright, she was much too nervous and even much more excited to see him than she intended. What was she so eager about, anyway? It wasn't like she haven't seen him in a good couple of years. She just saw him that very same morning.

"This is even more awkward! I think my head is going blank. Why couldn't he show up at the door?" she quickly whispered to Jared, before taking a deep breath and slowly opening the door. She couldn't really complain now, right? Besides, it would probably be even worse if he saw her from the very first moment in front of his door. Stepping in, she looked around, searching for that familiar figure. Now here came the hard part. "Trent?" she questioned, waiting for an answer first.

“Hmm?” a voice responded unwelcomingly as Chloe called out Trent’s name. Trent didn’t have a clue as to who’d be interrupting him this late in the afternoon, he’d never been one to have guests, and those that did usually had the manners to give fair warning beforehand. At first he’d thought it was the cleaner or perhaps some sort of delivery, but the voice that called his name stirred a uncomfortable feeling of unrest inside him. And instinctively he knew his day would be turning from bad to worse in an instant. Spinning around on his chair he glared at the doorway, his eyes initially going not to Chloe but the taller Jared who smiled politely before lowering his eyes down infront of him, causing Trent to follow his gaze to Chloe, or rather the impostor from earlier today who’d riled him up and turned his day to shit. “What are you doing here?” he asked unkindly, spinning the chair around completely, resting an elbow on the table, and the side of his head on his palm. “Nevermind, I don’t want to hear any more of your nonsense…. Jared?” Trent asked, turning back to look at Jared and pretending Chloe wasn’t there.

----
Jared had sort of expected this reaction. Like Chloe, Trent had a habit of delaying undesirable things or running away from them outright. Most people did, especially if ignoring the nuisance would make it go away, there was no point in dealing with the extra burden. At first he’d considered keeping quiet and letting Chloe do the talking as they’d planned, but the angry look in Trent’s eyes made it pretty clear he had no words to give or hear from Chloe at this stage. The look in the redhead’s eyes making Jared’s blood boil, he could understand why Trent would be averse to believing his sister was dead, but it was annoying to see him so easily ignoring Chloe when Jared would have loved to switch places with the cross looking man.

He could quite easily speak on Chloe’s behalf, but he’d already told Chloe he wouldn’t do that, and frankly he doubted Trent would properly believe him even if he did explain the details. Sighing and placing a hand on Chloe’s back Jared pushed her forward gently, the movement of Chloe’s body reflecting in Trent’s eyes. He could pretend Chloe wasn’t there all he wanted, but it’d be impossible to block her out completely. “Found the girl wandering around the street, said she wanted to talk to you so I brought her over” Jared stated clearly, his words seeming distant and uncaring. It didn’t sound at all like the man who’d promised to be there for Chloe only moments ago. He wasn’t really lying about having found Chloe on the street, but the way he’d said it made it sound as if they were complete strangers. “Just listen to what she has to say, it’s not like listening will kill your or anything, plus, our friendship sort of depends on it” Jared added coldly. Chloe had been told Jared and Trent were childhood friends, and best friends to date, but the way Jared spoke wasn’t friendly at all. In fact it was nearly hostile, and even Trent seemed a bit taken aback by the sudden change in Jared’s personality.
----
“Whatever” Trent scoffed, returning his attention to Chloe and scowling as if talking to her made him feel dirty. “Well? Hurry up, and then get out, you’ve got 5 minutes.”

Chloe did expect to see a grouchy Trent, but his expression when he looked at her made her heart ache a little bit and at the same time, it annoyed her. At his question, she quickly opened her mouth to answer, only to be ignored as his attention averted to Jared. Obviously, she was sort of disappointed, somewhat feeling like her heart sunk. However, when Jared pushed her forward, she was suddenly reminded what her real purpose was. Enough of moping around and being affected about every little thing. She had to do anything she could instead of giving up so easily. What kind of sister would she be if she gave up so easily on him?

On the other hand, the cold glance Jared gave to Trent surprized her. She understood that be was acting as a stranger with her for her own good, but the way he spoke to Trent made her question herself if these two really were friends. Leaving that aside, she quickly returned her attention to the red head once he told her to hurry up. She mentally swore that if he did recognize her in the end, she would make sure to torture him one way or another for the disgusted expression he was showing. Only after that she felt calmer. Clutching the teddy bear a little bit tighter, Chloe finally looked him straight in the eyes. "I'm sorry." she first said, probably worrying Jared with her own start of a speech. "I'm sorry for the hurtful things I said. However... The fact that I'm Chloe still stands. And it will stand for the eternity." she spoke, before she took a little break to gather her thoughts. "A couple of nights ago, I left the house because of the person you know too well. I honestly don't know why I actually forgot a part of my memories, and when I bumped into you, hearing you speak of me like I was dead only made me confused. Maybe it's because I slept the past nights out, maybe it's because I hit my head or something, but I forgot a lot of things. Ironically, something so important." she explained before she shook her head. "But the point is, I never knew of father's lie. I know it's also my fault for simply waiting for a miracle to see you return... But I really had no idea he would go to that extent to keep you away from me. It's hard to belive for you, but in the past ten years I was really back home. As you can see, I'm pretty much alive and well. Well, except for the fact that I look horrible after some nights spent outside. I found out about the lie only a year ago. I'm guilty for being the coward I am... but I was worried that you'd reject me. Just like you did this morning. " she pointed out, taking a few slow steps towards him. "You probably hate me for being such a big coward all these years. And I understand. But... I can't simply ignore this matter anymore. I miss the nights you'd kiss my forehead and tell me good night. I miss hearing you praise me and having you look out for me. To... know that I'm your most beloved sister, just like how you're my most beloved brother." she admitted, all of a sudden fighting the tears threatening to be spilled.

(And.... I died xD Still a bit of throbbing, but should be okay to post today)

The question was what sort of brother could act this coldly towards his sister and recover when he found out the truth later on? Chloe wouldn’t even need to give Trent hell since it was unlikely Trent would forgive or forget the way he treated Chloe if he ever were to realize the truth. Though his resilience itself was a flipped coin of his affection for his sister, he really did love his sister, cared for her more than anything else in the world, and that was why he could forgive someone stealing her identity and tainting her memory regardless of what their intention were.

The moment Chloe apologized, Trent snorted, leaning back and rolling his eyes, already having lost interest in what Chloe was going to say, if it weren’t for Jared glaring at him he probably would have shoved the stupid girl out the door and slammed it in her face. Thankfully Chloe was permitted to continue, her explanation of her memory loss was laughable, and the more she spoke the less she believed her. Her conveniently lost memories were probably just an excuse for her to try a new approach, or perhaps she’d gotten overly excited and screwed up part of her plan to trick him? Her story about spending a few nights outside was probably a cheap grab at his sympathy, and as for the lie….. Trent’s eyes flashed dangerously towards Jared. His presence now having the reverse affect, as he started suspecting this was all some coldhearted prank by his friend. The two were clearly lying about having just met eachother, he could tell from the look of determination that had crossed Chloe’s face when Jared had pushed her. Normally such an act would result in protest, or at least a bit or irritation. It’d be easy to kick the two of them out, Jared would probably be a bit of a pain, but if it came down to it his new apartment had security he could call upon to haul the two out of the building. He didn’t care for the impostor but losing Jared as a line of support would be a bit much, and while Trent didn’t intend to forgive Jared for this silly play, he wanted to give him a chance to explain himself. Ironic seeing as how he was completely ignoring and rejecting Chloe’s explanation.

“Okay, whatever I’ll believe you, Hello Chloe” he scowled, glaring at Chloe as if his own words had somehow hurt him. “I’m sorry for thinking you were dead, and I’m sorry I believed our father’s lie, you’re a wonderful sister and I’ve missed you too” he sighed, clearly not meaning a thing he said, his response made it harder for Chloe to react as she couldn’t continue arguing if Trent conceded, the only thing she could do even if she did see through the absence of his trust would be insisting what she said was the ‘truth’ and it was obvious repeating that it was the truth wouldn’t do any good. “I’m sort of busy today…. Sister…. So get- go home, or spend the night at Jared’s place” he smirked, looking at Jared, thinking that he’d turned the prank back on his friend. “If you really are Chloe I’m sure Jared would be delighted to have you over at his place. Right Jared? I’m asking you to look after my SISTER as a friend.”

-----
Jared visibly tensed behind Chloe, his temperament neither angry or relaxed. He might as well have been a statue as he didn’t even respond to Trent’s taunting, his eyes falling to the back of Chloe’s head, and staring at her for a few moments to see if she could do any better. Trent didn’t seem to believe a thing Chloe had said, and if Jared were to defend her it’d probably just look like they were working together after he’d told his initial lie of not being very knowledgeable as to who Chloe was. Part of him even hoped Chloe would give up now though after hearing Trent’s suggestion. He still wanted to support and help Chloe, but there was no reason they had to convince him today right? Maybe they should just head home and come back tomorrow? He wanted to believe he was thinking that as a tactical act to convince Trent and show him how serious they were, but deep down he knew he just wanted to spend more time with Chloe, and opening his mouth now, he wasn’t sure if he could stay true to his promise to be on Chloe’s side and not his selfish own.

((Yay~! Well, except for the headache. xD Also, dat' drama! I'll try my best to avoid this cliche idea that I have in mind. XD))

Chloe somehow managed to be quiet and show not even a single frown as he mocked her. Instead, she thought things over. Was this the right way to make him trust her? Or was she just begging him in vain, only resulting in making herself look like the lowest being to him? She couldn't turn to look at Jared's face, but she actually felt thankful for he didn't interrupt her and didn't step in, letting her decided what was better. As soon as Trent suggested that she could stay over at Jared, she sighed soon returned that sarcastic way of his speaking with her own sarcastic smile. "If you really trusted me, you wouldn't send me off to your friend's house like I'm some toy you've disposed of." she pointed out, before her smirk faded away. "Honestly, I felt bad for the things I said to you. But after seeing how ignorant you can be, I've suddenly realized I can't do this for the rest of my life. I can't simply have you mock me every time, seeing that spiteful face you make when I'm trying my best to have my brother back. I'm patient. But even that patience has a limit." she spoke, before the real slight frown appeared.

"Why would I even care about how 'hurt' you are about a 'fake death'? For all I know, I hope my face will be stuck in your little brain until you start to hate me. At least if you can't love me anymore, hate is probably just enough too. Maybe then you will know what I went through when I wanted to meet you and tell you the truth and instead found you with another woman, who coincidentally shares almost the same appearance as your so called 'dead sister'. Ironic how a substitute can replace the original so easily. I'm standing right in front of your face, and all you do after so many years in which you though I was dead, is being some pessimist ignorant guy. You don't even give me a chance and simply toss me aside, without even trying to see if I really am Chloe. I could freaking prove this with a simple blood test, but I somehow hoped that you would actually recognize your own little sister without some damned proofs. But sure, you will probably think even the blood tests are made up. You can probably find a good reason for anything, just as long as you know that you'll get rid of me. Your life is too good to have it ruined by the sudden comeback of your sister, right?" she added, almost feeling like she lost her breath for a second there.

Making some steps forward, she pressed the teddy bear against his chest, the pair of blue eyes losing their warmth. "Third and last chance, Trent. You figure out who I really am. I'll give you a day to think it over. I'll be waiting in the central park, until tomorrow at the same time as now. If you don't show up until then, don't even expect me to forgive you later. Any hour later than the deadline and I won't even look at you from then on." she instructed, letting go of the teddy bear to have it fall in his lap. "As a side note, the later you are to show up, the more possibilities to find me dead, just like you wished me to be." she quickly added, turning around to walk towards the door. While Chloe knew there were chances to wait there in vain, she figured that unless she did something to actually make him think the situation over seriously, she would never have a result. On the other hand, being dead and such wasn't really going to happen. She wasn't going to commit suicide, that was for sure. What she meant by that was that spending another night in that place was quite dangerous. Though, she did think of some ways of making sure she would not end into the same situation. "From this very moment, I'll be waiting in the park." she pointed out to the red head, before she returned her attention to Jared. "Jared?" she questioned as she reached the door, waiting for some answer as to whether he wanted to follow her or just stay behind.

Jared had to make a real effort not to sigh as Chloe finally lost her temper, he’d told her earlier that she should just be herself, but he’d forgotten that the real Chloe was probably a lot like Trent, which meant that once she’d lost her cool, she’d start acting a lot like her brother. Even as Chloe snapped at the red head, Jared could see quite clearly that her words were lost on him, he was skeptical as to whether he was even listening to her anymore. Jared didn’t know how Chloe had acted when she was younger but this definitely wasn’t how he envisioned Chloe and Trent’s relationship, and the way she spoke probably wasn’t convincing in the slightest, on the contrary, if Jared was in Trent’s position right now he wasn’t sure he could draw a connection between the quiet shy girl hiding behind her brothers back, and the snappy emotional girl standing infront of him right now. He perfectly understood why Chloe had snapped though too, anyone would have under the present circumstances, even Jared had felt a twinge of hostility towards Trent when he started acting all sarcastic and rude. Not that that was anything new for Trent anyway.

Jared knew that Chloe’s idea wouldn’t work. It had taken a year for Chloe to work up the nerves to go see Trent, and if that was anything to go by, Trent would take a good few weeks before he came to terms with his sister being alive. Even if he did accept the truth now, he’d be too proud to admit it and go crawling back to Chloe, even Jared would have been reluctant to go apologize to Chloe after an outburst like the one she’d given. Both parties were at fault now as far as he was concerned and the situation had escalated to the point where there couldn’t possibly be a winner. He hadn’t brought Chloe here to see this, he hadn’t brought her here to create a bond of hatred between the pair. And there was no way he’d let the situation fall apart now after finally having succeeded in making the two face each other. If Trent didn’t show up by tomorrow then Chloe would never make the effort to come here again and Trent would be too prideful to apologize after having blown his chance to make up with her so foolishly.

His eyes slid towards Chloe as she called her name, his expression awfully blank and emotionless, gnawing his lip slightly before his hand moved to the side to block of Chloe’s path. “I told you that failure wasn’t an option” he stated awfully coldly, now directing the cold tone of voice that he’d directed Trent’s way towards Chloe. Disappointment flickering in his eyes for just a moment before his other hand grabbed her by the shoulder with an iron grip. “You told me that you wouldn’t do anything that would betray Trent when we were coming here didn’t you? And you just gave up, threw the ball in his court and left it all up to him. Do you really think he’ll come?” he asked spinning her around to face Trent who was staring at them with mild amusement, his best friend was manhandling her like a ragdoll and he didn’t seem the slightest bit concerned, in fact his eyes almost seemed to mock her, silently enjoying the predicament Chloe had placed herself in. It’d do the girl some good to be shaken up a bit in his opinion anyway, and he doubted that Jared would actually get violent.

“Bad move Chloe, you gave up on Trent, you forfeited my cooperation, and you lied to yourself. If you won’t do what I asked you to do, I’ll just have to force a happy ending won’t I?” he asked, dragging her over to Trents bed and tossing her onto it, not even giving her a chance to sit up before he pinned both her arms to the silky white sheets. His weight placed on her thighs so that she could do anything more than squirm about. He was noticeably stronger than Chris, and whereas Chris had shown amusement and cruelty in his eyes, Jared showed nothing. No anger, enjoyment or sadness, he seemed like an empty husk of his earlier self.

The sound of Trent getting out of his chair sounded nearby as Trent made a move to stop Jared, but was quickly silenced and pushed away as Jared glanced at him coldly. “You owe me for introducing you to Charlotte, letting me borrow your bed for tonight while I ravage this idiots body is a small price to pay for the happiness I gave you right?” he hissed, giving away his intentions to both Trent and Chloe. He wasn’t messing around, that much was evident from even the blank look on his face.

Chloe was taken aback as she noticed Jared still kept that blank expression. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly as he blocked her way, turning her head to look up at him and question him with the puzzled glance about what was he doing. She somewhat felt like flinching at his cold tone, before she actually felt his hand gripping her shoulder. For a couple of moments there, she just tried to figure out what was in his head. Just why did he have to do this? Why now? Why in front of him, the red head who most likely just enjoyed watching the show? He was ruining everything. On the other hand, when he questioned her if she actually thought Trent would show up just like she wanted, she suddenly started to think it over and have her doubts. Well, maybe her plan had her flaws, and she did get a little bit too angry again. But, he was her brother... Somewhere inside her mind, she hoped and expected that he would show up in the end.

To her dismay, Jared seemed to give Trent reasons to be amused, the look on his face as she was forced to spin around disappointing her. She hated it. She hated to see those mocking eyes. This wasn't what she wanted, to be a mere joke. However, when Jared spoke again, her attention averted from Trent to the green eyed man, momentarily mentally questioning what he meant by a happy ending, when it was clearly that everything was screwed up. The sudden dragging towards the bed caused Chloe to be more alert to what was going on, struggling to break free, but only in vain. Finding herself pinned to be the bed, Chloe felt like this was familiar, the whole feeling making her heartbeat speed up, not because of love, but because of being frightened. A similar situation was when Chris cuffed her wrists and ankle, leaving her no way of escaping. Whether she liked it or not, this was forcing her to remember everything she gone through because of that psychopath.

If Chris seemed to be the type she would have rather cursed, Jared seemed to be even scarier, seeing no emotion on his face. Hearing a sound that meant Trent got up from his chair, Chloe seemed to think she had some hope left, only to hear Jared's words. He was the one who introduced Charlotte? No, but that wasn't as important as what situation she was in at the moment. What really made her start trembling and struggling to free herself for real, was when he just revealed his plan. "Jared, please don't do this... This... this won't be a happy ending. For neither of us." she pleaded, trying to somehow reach through that layer of ignorance and make him be a little more reasonable. "If this is your way of forcing a happy ending... I don't want to have anything to do with it." she added, her fingers curling into fists. "Or is this what you were waiting for from the very beginning? To quickly find a reason to have your way with me. You knew that if he trusted me you'd never get the chance to do something like this because he wouldn't let you. Is this why you were waiting for me to fail?" she questioned, the voice merely shaky.

Jared’s actions were slow but heavy, his arms grinding forward as he forced Chloe’s hands together above her head, holding both her hands down with a single hand. He glanced briefly at Trent as if to tell him to remain seated before turning his attention back to Chloe. Smiling faintly before returning to his expressionless self. “Exactly, if Trent won’t believe that you’re his sister there’s nothing stopping me from claiming me as mine is there?” he asked calmly, trailing a finger down the side of her face tracing the back of his finger back up her cheek and behind her ear, hooking several strands of her long black hair behind her ear. “It’s not the best happy ending, but it’s a happy one as long as I get to have you to myself isn’t it?” he continued, his lips twitching a bit before he continued. “I gave you your chance to be happy and you cast it aside, now it’s my chance at happiness.” He continued leaning in towards her, his lips hovering less than an inch away from hers. “Plus, for as long as you love Trent there isn’t any real happy ending left for me anyway” he stated, hesitating a bit and pecking her lightly on the cheek.

“You have no idea how much I wanted you to myself Chloe, ever since you were a Trent’s cute little doll I wanted you for myself, I envied how you two always spent time together without me. Trent’s given up on you, Chloe to him no longer exists, so you might as well give up and get together with someone else. Forget your brother, he doesn’t love you anymore” he stated clearly, his voice seeming to fill the room which had gone eerily silent. Chloe couldn’t see Trent from where she was, though she couldn’t even hear him moving despite the scene going on right before his eyes. If he cared about her, surely he’d intervene? Even if he didn’t recognize her, surely he’d at least try to stop Jared if a girl was about to get raped before his very eyes?..... Yet there was nothing, Trent remained completely quiet and unmoving making Chloe doubt if he was even there.

“You don’t belong anywhere anymore Chloe, your father hates you, you have no friends to rely on, and your own brother couldn’t care any less about you. You’re just a nuisance to him, he’d have been happier living his own life without you coming back from the dead to ruin everything he worked so hard for.” Running his hand through her long black hair and lifting it gently into the air before watching it settle over her shoulder he looked at her with those cold piercing green eyes. His lips slightly turned upwards as he continued taunting her. “Love your own brother? That’s disgusting, no one would ever accept such detestable feelings. It’s sick, wrong, an abomination to society.” He spat, going back and contradicting what he’d told her earlier about her feelings towards Trent. “There’s no way Trent would love you back, and you staying with him would only ruin his chances with the woman he truly loves, you brought this on yourself by trying to ruin his life Chloe, the least you could do is give him a good show?”

Chloe couldn't believe her own ears. The words coming out of Jared's mouth shocked her to the point where she simply looked up at him with a look that questioned his sanity, all of a sudden stopping the struggle noticing that she was probably wasting her energy anyway. She lightly flinched and turned her head as his finger traced down her cheek and stopped behind her ear. Her eyes snapped back to him as he cleared up the misunderstanding. At this point she pondered on whether it was the still person she met a while back or a different person. Was that all an act? Once again she felt like she couldn't trust anyone, because either she had the misfortune of bumping into shady people, either she really couldn't trust a single person. After all, even her own brother was standing there, watching as his own sister was about to be raped by his friend. She couldn't see him, but she could sense he was still there. Or at least, that's what she hoped for. There was no other sound aside from Jared's voice which almost seemed to echo not only in the room but in her head too.

The frown once again showed him that she couldn't stand hearing those kind of words. It was almost as if he was doing it on purpose. Pointing out all the worst things, causing her to tremble with pure anger, shame and fear. Did he really think she was going to easily forget her love for Trent just because he tossed her aside? Was he that sure that she'd be happy with someone else? It annoyed her, how lightly he took this matter. As if feelings would be so easy to erase. Also, why was that dumb head just standing there watching? Everything going on just made her boil inside, and she could've sworn she was on the brink on breaking down.

"Shut up..." she muttered, the scowl becoming more and more obvious as he continued on, telling her how much of a nuisance she was and how she belonged to nowhere. The mere gesture of having him touch her hair making her bite her lip as to calm herself down. What made her snap was when he mentioned her love for Trent. How disgusting that was. Though, this time, she didn't snap in that usual way. Those horrible and detestable teardrops rolled down her cheeks once again. She wasn't sure if it was the fact that Trent heard that or the fact that even Jared admitted it was disgusting to have those kind of feelings, but she couldn't help her tears. "So what if it's disgusting?!" she suddenly cried out, breathing slightly harder. "My father hates me. So what? He never loved anyone beside my mother anyway! My own brother denies my existence. Even so, not even that won't be able to make me get rid of these feelings. Just because he won't even recognize me as his own sister, doesn't mean I'll be able to forget him. Yes, I've said that earlier, but that was only for him to make a step already... I can't do this if he doesn't even want to listen to me. Listen to me in a serious way, not just waiting for another reason to laugh in my face..." she spoke between the hiccups.

"Maybe I'm a coward, a pest and a disgusting person for those feelings... but... I still... I still love him."she murmured, her voice growing weaker.

Jared has known that she’d yell at him, the fact that she’d stopped struggling had been a surprise, but it was clear by her expression and tone of voice that she hadn’t given in to him. A bit disappointing, but nothing he hadn’t expected. Chloe had made it clear to him that she loved Trent and not him, and Jared realized there was no changing that. He’d expected a bit more uncertainty from her after the harsh interaction that had just unfolded, but apparently her emotions towards Trent hadn’t changed in the slightest. A fact that both pleased and annoyed him at the same time.

“So what you’re telling me is that the world hates you and the only person you have is your brother? You beloved brother who couldn’t care less whether you were alive or dead? Do you really think you have a chance with him? He’ll never return your feelings and the time were you’d be coddled and showered with affection as his sister is long over. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it as many times as I need to, you’re a nuisance Chloe, a virus that’s infecting everything and everyone you make contact with, warping their existence just to suit your own personal objective.”

Her confession however seemed to make him stop, hesitation flickering in his green eyes as he paused, looming over her almost as if waiting for something before he let out a sigh. Recommencing his actions, his hand slowly sliding back down her cheek and then her neck before stopping just above her shirt, quickly undoing the top two buttons, before continuing to slide his hand down over her breasts, fondling them gently as he continued to explore her body with his hand. His other hand still firmly pinning her hands together to prevent her from resisting him physically.

“What does it matter whether you love him or not? It’s clear he doesn’t love you back, and this isn’t some cheap love story, he won’t choose you in the end, and even if he does it’ll only be because you took advantage of him when he was down.” He scowled, openly showing a clear emotion for the first time since entering the room. “Or are you going to give me nonsense about not caring whether he loves you back or not? Don’t be naïve, spending time with the person you love, knowing that they’ll never love you back isn’t a pain a weak little girl like you would ever be able to endure” he growled, squeezing down on her breasts and fondling them with a bit more force. “You taught me that much Chloe, and see what you’ve turned me into?”

“Trent doesn’t love you, he never did, and he never will. You’re dead to him, and there’s nothing you can do to change that. You tried your best, and you failed. And failures need to be punished” he stated his tone returning to the mechanical monotone he’d been speaking in earlier. His eyes however were still quite emotional, not being able to revert back to the cold stare now that he’d let his emotions slip out. They weren’t lustful not angry, in fact they seemed rather saddened as if not having Chloe accept him hurt him so badly he was about to cry. The hateful look and words she directed him being brushed away by a warm gentle smile. “Your brother hates you Chloe.”

"Yet, you like this virus that I am. Let me ask you the same thing, Jared... do you really think I'll return your feelings? Do you think I'll actually start loving you after raping me? I may be disgusting, but not that twisted to fall in love with someone who would force himself on me. You will never get a smile from me again. Not if you treat me like this. You're just as selfish as me. Maybe even more than that." Chloe pointed out as she managed to somehow stop the hiccups. While she did feel like her heart was about to burst out from her chest out of the fear of going through a real rape this time, the brunette still had the mind to find his flaws in the speeches he gave.

When his hand traveled down to her chest, however, her eyes stared up at him with a hateful look. A slight sarcastic smile showed on her lips at his next statement. "Oh, but 'you' can cope with having me by your side knowing full well that I love someone else, right?" she questioned, flinching as he clutched her breasts harder in a painful way. She tried her best to understand what was Jared trying to point out, but the only thing she could see was the slightly saddened expression, which mixed with the smile and his conclusion that Trent hated her, made her realize he really was serious about this. Was he trying to make her hate everything and turn to him for some love? What a sick game. Yet, how would she act to make Trent hers if she really wanted it? If only she wasn't a harmless pathetic crybaby.

"Do you want to break me that bad? To end up seeing me as an expressionless doll? Would you rather have a lifeless shell? You can find that anywhere. A substitute who could even love you. Why don't you take lessons from Trent? Look how happy he is with a substitute instead of the real thing? Maybe I'd like you if you resembled him. Though, I probably wouldn't in the end. Besides, both of you are just happy with this. Being able to satisfy your lust. This is not like or love. This is your silly excuse to fuck somebody you sort of fancy. Whether that person is a substitute or not." she added, before she closed her eyes.

Jared flinched with each point she threw back in his face, inwardly smiling at her resistance, and how clear her mind was despite what was being done to her. He wanted to tell her that he really did love her, that his actions weren’t fueled completely by lust for her body, but doing so wouldn’t do anything to help his cause, and it was unlikely she’d believe him anyway. Instead of telling her what he wanted to, he instead decided to force an unconvincing grin staring down at her with hurt filled eyes. As he removed his hand from her breasts placing a finger over her lips in hush gesture.

“Who says I intend to keep you around? You’re right Chloe, I just want to fuck you silly while your brother watches. I want to see you cry and beg for him to help you while I force myself into you over and over again. Don’t flatter yourself Chloe, I don’t love you at all, never did, never will. The only thing I want to do is make you suffer, to break you into that lifeless shell you mentioned. Maybe if you feel good enough I’ll let you live on as a sex slave? Otherwise I’ll just toss you in some dirty alley to be captured and taken by homeless beggars or something. I’m sure a smart girl like you will learn to enjoy the filth after being defiled a few times yourself.

He didn’t think Chloe would turn to him for love in the slightest. He hadn’t even considered the possibility, relying on Chloe’s strength of mind to carry her through this. He glanced at Trent once more smirking rudely, before lowering his head against Chloe’s neck, ignoring her protests as he parted his lips and began sucking gently on her flesh, inhaling her scent deeply knowing that this would probably be the first and last chance he’d ever have to do so. “Forget Trent Chloe, you’re not his sister anymore, you’re my personal fuck toy” he whispered clearly enough for even the motionless Trent to hear.

Chloe's eyes opened once again as he told her what he planned with her. Something didn't quite seem to be logic. Was this really him? Was this the same person who encouraged her to do her best? The same person who was embarrassed at the fact that his mother spilled out he had a crush on her? The person who's mother scolded him that he was still a virgin? Or was this just an act? She couldn't really tell, but neither did she have a reply this time to what he said. Or maybe she did? She wasn't even sure what would work to make Trent trust her already. It was impossible to make him act. She could feel her efforts were in vain. No matter what she said, how smart she was, it wasn't going to help her. She had the proofs, she tried to explain everything to him and obviously had the appearances. What more could she do?

"I suppose it doesn't matter anymore. It's not like I can do anything else." she suddenly spoke, forcing a sarcastic chuckle. "That's what I am. A pathetic harmless target. My words don't count anyway. I don't have the strength of a guy. I don't have anything left either." she concluded, seeming to keep up a blank expression, though, the trembling gave away what she really felt like inside. "Cry and beg for help you say... beg from whom? There's no one here who will help me. Just someone who'd rather watch his sister get raped, probably enjoying the view somewhere inside of him. There's no need for my useless cries. It didn't work before, why would it work now?" she questioned though she didn't really wait for an answer, closing back her eyes for a short moment only to let her cheek be moistened with another tear.

On the other hand, the fact that he was looking back at Trent from times to times made her frown a little. Was he looking for some sign of approval? Could this get even worse? Closing her eyes tightly as he lowered his head to her neck, she wished she could just push him away or just wake up to the reality where everything was alright. Chloe almost wondered if this was another sick dream, even if she could clearly feel anything. Then again, she did feel everything in that so called dream too. It felt so real that it scared her. And if both of these 'worlds' were real, did this mean there was some connection? But what would it matter? Either way it seemed like she was doomed to end up in this kind of situation. Once again she had to think of a way to make him let go of her. Too bad she had her movements restricted. She did hear his whispered words. Or what seemed like whispered words, because they were a little louder. Probably just enough to even have Trent hear them. But she didn't expect anything from him anymore. It was obvious enough he was just there to watch. "I guess... I can only wish you'll be happy with her." she whispered, words that were clearly intended to Trent, before she turned her face to Jared. "There. Everyone should be happy now, right? Trent will continue living happily ever after with his new girlfriend, forgetting about his sister in the end, you'll finally have your best friend's sister as a fuck toy, and I... I will miserably continue my life until I either get sick of it, either I start loving the disgusting filthy thing I've become."

For a few seconds Jared was able to completely forget the purpose and intent of his actions, breathing in her aromatic scent and tasting her sweet skin. He didn’t even mind how Chloe hadn’t bathed, on the contrary the fact that she’d been out for a night or two without shelter made her personal scent all the more powerful, intoxicating him with desire to make her his own. His body trembling at the thought, he knew such a time would never come. He could force himself on Chloe if he wanted, but he knew she’d never love him back. Not as a lover, and now not as a friend. He’d thrown away his chance to be anything more than an insignificant speck of dust, Chloe had mentioned how she’d rather have Trent hate her and remember her, but Jared couldn’t bare the thought of being hated by Chloe for the rest of her life. It was too big a burden for Chloe to carry, and an even more unbearable stigma for Jared to endure.

Hearing her last words, Jared released his hand from her wrist, giving her hands the freedom they wanted before slipping his hand behind Chloe’s back, his other hand joining them as he wrapped his arms around her in a tight embrace. A quiet whisper that not even Chloe could probably hear slipping off his lips he loosened the hug, and pulled himself up to stare into her blue eyes with his own green orbs of affection and sadness. “I love you Chloe…” he mouthed closing his eyes just as the chair nearby suddenly flipped over, the sound of something fast approaching interrupting the moment. Jared didn’t seem the least bit alarmed, instead closing his eyes and bracing himself as a fist flew over Chloe’s head and embedded itself against Jared’s chest before sending the brown haired man tumbling backwards. A rough hand grabbing Chloe and pulling her up into a sitting position before wrapping his arms around Chloe possessively. “You sick fuck, If I’d known how warped and twisted you were I’d never have let you into our house.” Trent shouted, his face purple with anger. His fingers were digging into Chloe’s shoulder unknowingly, but the redhead was too pissed to do anything besides yell at Jared right now. “Get out before I call the cops, I don’t want to see you anywhere near me or my sister ever again.”

After spluttering and gasping for air, Jared stared blankly at the pair on the bed, his eyes returning to the dull emotionless look, even managing to force a sadistic grin. “Your sister?” he gasped, clutching at his chest.

Trent flinched but looked down at Chloe, scowling a bit with reluctance before nodding his head. “Yeah, mine” he stated possessively hugging her closer to him as if Jared would snatch her away if he didn’t.

Jared narrowed his eyes, glaring at Trent and then at Chloe before returning to face the redhead. A triumphant yet depressed look flickering on his face before he stood up, shrugging his shoulders casually. “Whatever, I don’t care either way as long as you take her off my hands, she’s your problem now, take care of her” he scoffed, moving towards the door. Trent was the victor here, Chloe had chosen him over Jared, and being the loser, Jared had to leave with his head hung low. He could feel his own tears threatening to burst out, but desperately kept them back so that he could claim what he wanted the most. Turning his head and looking at Chloe with moistened eyes, he smiled warmly, whispering something quietly before thrusting the door open and slamming it behind him. The sound of footsteps running in the hallway resounding and making it back to Trent’s room, apparently Jared had taken the stairs, as the footsteps gradually faded into nothing. Leaving Chloe alone with Trent who was holding her tightly, a uncertain nervous look on his reddened face.

Chloe wasn't sure what exactly was going on with Trent, because there she was trapped under Jared, and a few moments later, she found herself in her brother's arms, wrapped so tight that she actually thought he finally went back to his usual self. But she somehow doubted it. When he did tell Jared to stay away from him and 'his sister', however, Chloe was taken aback, looking up at the red head with a surprised look, yet a hopeful one. Though, the second time he admitted she was his sister, he didn't seem that sure about it. At least, in her eyes. Leaving that aside, when she saw the saddened green eyes of Jared's, she was once again shocked. Something wasn't alright. She didn't quite catch what he whispered, but something told her she made a mistake. Did he just act like this to help her?

She was torn between hating Jared for lying, or feeling sorry for him. Or rather, feeling guilty for being so cruel to him when he helped her out and even made himself look bad in front of Trent. He actually gave up on his friend and even his crush. Now, she really felt guilty. In a way, it ended up just like he said. She wasn't the one to make Trent trust her. It was Jared. Letting out a little sigh, she placed her hands on the red head's chest in an attempt to push him away. She felt horrible for how she talked to Jared. And for some reason, she could feel some sort of uncertainty from Trent. "You were mocking me until now. How come you suddenly act like a protective brother?" she questioned, frowning slightly. "Or do you just feel pity?" she added, averting her gaze from him, obviously unable to erase the thought that until just a couple of moments ago he was being ignorant.
