Unbreakable Ties (Ookami & Sumi)

Chloe had a point regarding his manners, but what happened in his head, would have stayed in his head were it not for Chloe’s remark, and everyone had the freedom to think and imagine whatever they wanted right? Trent opened his mouth to imagine that it was only natural for men to picture attractive women naked, but quickly reconsidered, figuring that such a statement would make Chloe act jealous and paranoid each time a woman passed by him. Trent had no intentions of even looking at other women now that he had his lifelong crush for a girlfriend. He really couldn’t think of wishing for anything more right now.

Trent didn’t really hate the old man that much himself, or at least that’s what he’d been thinking until last night when he’d realize that his ‘ex-father’ was the sole reason behind his last ten years of misery. Trent once again decided to keep his mouth shut regarding the matter, not thinking it’d be a good idea to spill how he really felt towards the man at the moment. Thought the brief glint of hatred that sparked in his eyes when he mentioned Chloe’s father should have been more than enough to convey his thoughts had she noticed it. Trent simply didn’t see the reason to be grateful towards a man, just because he’d been part of the reason behind his birth. For all Trent knew, his birth could have been nothing more than a burst of uncontrolled hormones, and the ‘good memories’ if they even existed had long been covered and buried by the more recent negative ones. Even if they hadn’t the fact that the man had kept Chloe for half his life was enough reason for Trent to wish the man ill fortune.

A smile only returned to his face when Chloe responded regarding movies… or rather her undergarments. “Sure thing, I’ll make sure to pick out the ones that bring out your sexiness tenfold, they’ll be so revealing, you won’t even realize you’re wearing them” he laughed in a sing song voice that mimicked some cheap tv commercial. He did however click his tongue with disapproval when Chloe beat him to the idea of adult movies. His plan for the evening being dealt a heavy blow, he still intended to get in her pants… or rather where her panties should have been, but the easiest route of adult movie > Arousal > Sex. Had apparently been noticed and barred by the little dark haired girl.

What was most notable though was the look of surprise on Trent’s face when Chloe said she could come with him. “Break up?” he asked confused, acting as if he’d never heard those words in his entire life. “Feelings for who?” he asked slowly, looking at Chloe now as if she were the crazy one not making any sense. “Don’t know who you’re talking about, but the only person I’ve got feeling for is you, always has been that way, always will be.” He stated confidently, no sign of deceit in his tone or expression. The concerned look in his eyes as he looked at Chloe was also enough to dismiss the possibility that he was messing around with her by pretending not to know Charlotte.

Chloe quickly regretted what she suggested, once again embarrassed at his teasing ideas. "I'm not sure whether wearing no underwear is bad, or having you choose something like that is actually worse." she admitted before realizing she just spilled out what option she chose in the end, going with the bareness instead of wearing his boxers. "I think I'll choose those by myself." she quickly changed the subject some way or another, before she heard him click his tongue. From the looks of it, she hit the bull's eye, meaning he did plan to rent those kind of movies. Well, it seemed like she knew him better than she even expected. "Ruined your plans, perhaps?" she chuckled with a grin, crossing her arms against her chest as she finished the pancakes. "You know what? You're quite easy to read at times." she added as a matter of fact, somewhat proud that she could see through his plans.

However, her smile faded once he was denying the fact that he knew anything about this break up thing. Instead, she forced a nervous smile, figuring he was probably faking it again, though at the same time she had an awkward feeling about this. "Alright, you don't have to go as far as to suddenly pretend you forgot Charlotte completely. I do trust you love me even if you didn't say that." she pointed out, getting up to pick up the empty plate and the fork and put them in the sink. Though, taking a quick glance at his expression, she paled. He really looked serious about it. "Enough of this joke. Don't look at me like that. You're actually freaking me out right now." she added, turning around to face him again.

In truth, she was actually worried, especially now as she recalled the same expression from his part before he left the bathroom earlier. Could this be something related to her problem? But how could it be? It didn't even make sense for such a thing to happen. Sure, having not enough recollection of the other life was understandable, but suddenly forgetting such a recent matter? It was the very same morning that they talked about Charlotte. "Are you making fun of me? Seriously, Trent, the last thing I need is to find out you're forgetting things we talked about in the same day, so if this is your way of teasing me, it's not funny." she spoke, leaning against the counter. "Charlotte. Your current girlfriend. Didn't we just discuss that you'd meet up with her to break up a little later, because earlier you were busy with something else? Or did you actually forget what you did earlier too?" she questioned, trying to sound amused, yet in reality, she was seriously frightened.

Trent couldn’t help but grin himself when Chloe guessed his intentions, even his click of the tongue hadn’t been fully serious, and more of an indicator that she’d read his mind, rather than genuine disappointment at the fact that she’d ruled a potential idea. It wasn’t like Chloe had any power over him regarding what he could and couldn’t do anyway, seeing as he’d be the one purchasing both the movies and the undergarments. He could have easily being a complete ass and told her that it was those options or nothing, threatening her she could go bare, and stare at the wall… and he probably would have had it been anyone else. But his loving brotherly side was probably kicking in, and he was intent on giving Chloe whatever she asked for. Anything to make her happy so that she’d stay by his side. It was actually pretty unnerving to think like that though. The past ten years had been a spiral of negativity, always foreseeing the worst possible scenario, but never really caring. He was probably a coward for worrying about Chloe getting bored with him and moving on, probably even insulting. But she was the one ray of sunlight in his bleak world, and the mere thought of losing her a second time was enough to send cold shivers running up his spine.

“What are you-?” he started, pausing for a moment and tipping his head to the side as the name ‘Charlotte’ did sort of sound familiar. He couldn’t remember who she was, even the name wasn’t all that familiar. If Chloe were to tell him it was the name of the old lady that lived next door to them when they were kids, Trent probably would have believed her.

Trent’s concern for Chloe grew as she started paling, her request for him to stop making fun of her only making Trent think that Chloe was the one messing around with him. If it weren’t for her expression and tone of voice he probably wouldn’t have even given her words second thought, but it looked like she was trying to say something important, at least until she mentioned Charlotte being his girlfriend.

“Right, my girlfriend~” he laughed, finally catching on to what he assumed was a bad joke, “Honestly, you almost had me for a moment there, but there’s no way you’re convincing me that I was dating someone without me knowing them. Only person I’ve ever really loved is you, do you really think I’d ever be willing to date anyone else?” he added, finishing his own plate and wiping his mouth with the back of his hand before collecting both plates and cutlery. “I’ve never had a girlfriend Chloe, you’re my first, and my last. If you really think I had a girlfriend you’re probably thinking of some silly dream you had.”

It was almost funny how both of them threw the joke around, thinking that each other was lying. Or at least, it would have been funny if Chloe didn't have her issues already, because this might turn out to be another awkward piece of information. And if she had to be honest it was a little bit hard to understand why things worked this way and how exactly they went. Nevertheless, Chloe didn't like the way his answers came out. He didn't look like he was faking it or joking at all, and that scared her.

"Trent, I'm not joking even in the slightest bit. Did you bump your head while I was in the bathroom?" she questioned to make sure he didn't have other reasons to act so clueless, before she moved forward to his side to place her soft hands on his head and check for any strange bump. Nothing out of ordinary, unfortunately. Except for the fact that he was still acting like he forgot such an important thing. Not that she thought of Charlotte as someone important, but forgetting a person one was together with for two years is pretty frightening.

"You really don't remember? It doesn't seem familiar at all?" she inquired, frowning slightly at the thought that he might have some temporary amnesia. "Do you remember everything that happened since yesterday until this very moment?" she added, in hope that she might refresh his memory. At this point she almost wondered if he remembered Jared. And she actually felt an urge to bring up that subject again.

Then, a sudden idea struck her. There had to be some evidences of their relationship. Something like a telephone number at least. As if she found the resolve of all her problems, her expression brightened and her hands quickly reached his shoulders to catch his attention. "Where is your mobile, phone, or whatever? I need to see it." she spoke, all determined to help him remember it. The last thing she wanted was to meet Charlotte by mistake one day and have that woman make a fuss about her stealing her boyfriend. She needed to make sure they properly broke up. And since they were 'lovers' at some point, he was bound to have her phone number, even if they weren't that close lately.

((Wee~ Shorter posts. For the convenience, of course.))

Chloe really wasn’t making any sense at the moment. Trent had never heard the name Charlotte in his life, and even if he had, they hadn’t been important enough for him to remember for more than a few minutes. Trying to see the humor in her question he responded with a jab of his own asking her “No, but you might have fallen asleep and dreamt something” he smirked, still thinking this was some sort of game…. Okay he knew that Chloe wasn’t messing around now. The look on her face was more than enough for him to deduce that much. But acknowledging that Chloe was serious was like acknowledging that Chloe was ranting about some imaginary person who was supposed to be his girlfriend.

“I’m not sure what you’re trying to say Chloe, my memory's fine, I’m completely serious, never dated a woman by the name of Charlotte, or a guy with the name for that matter” he laughed, hoping that he could dampen the dramatically changing mood in the room. He had no idea who Charlotte was, but maybe she was a friend of Chloe’s or something? Thinking over several women he worked with, he couldn’t match the name Charlotte to any of them, and with no point in life, Trent had pretty much been married to his job over the past ten years. If he had a girlfriend outside if work, surely he’d remember something like that no matter how brief it’d been.

He didn’t really understand why Chloe wanted to see his mobile all of a sudden, but he had no reason to refuse her and shrugged simply before walking over to the beside table and grabbing his mobile. Lightly tossing it Chloe’s way after unlocking it. His address book was rather long, seeing as how he would add anyone that wanted to be added, and never really bother cleaning up his contacts, and the fact that they were all added to the ‘General Group’ didn’t make things any easier to navigate. Eventually though she’d managed to shuffle down to the part she was looking for, though the name ‘Charles Abbott’ was followed by a random combination of illegible names.

“%(&r(2*\z”

Looking through the list she’d notice several other entries that had been messed up as well, the call numbers registered to the name just as random as the names attached to them, there wasn’t even a need to bother trying the number seeing as the number entered consisted of letters and symbols that couldn’t possibly be anyone’s phone number. While a few had been affected, most of the entries remained unchanged, amongst the entries Chloe would not only find Jared’s name, but also Chris’s.

(And the mystery deepens~ xD)

((Now you got me just as curious as Chloe as to what's going to happen next. XD *inserts dramatical music* Introducing Chloe Holmes! (Now at every cinema, from 26th May!) xD
I love this. =w= Gotta' find out what's behind the mystery!))

Chloe wished she could just do something to make him be serious about the matter at hand, seeing how he was still trying to laugh, like losing memory about such things was nothing. "Sure, you're fine. Everyone calls me crazy because I'm saying weird things, and you find it normal that you're suddenly forgetting something so recent." she mumbled under her breath, slightly annoyed for never being believed by others. Then again, she couldn't really blame them since she was the only one who could understand such things. Only she was aware of what was behind death.

Once he tossed her the phone and caught it just in time, she proceeded to checking out his contacts lists, hoping that she'd find Charlotte's number in there quite quickly. To her dismay and frustration, he had a long list of so called friends. It seemed like no matter what world, he had this kind of long list of strangers in his phone. "When was the last time you cleaned up your contacts?" she questioned raising an eyebrow, only to suddenly notice something strange. "Wha-" A real scowl showed on her face appeared at the sight of some contact names which weren't even names in the first place, just a bunch of signs and letters. Coincidentally the first name she found this strange was the one under someone called 'Charles Abbott'. Could this be Charlotte's number? But what happened to it? Scrolling down, she was surprised to see other numbers like this one, but with a second look over, she almost froze on the spot. The raven haired girl paled once she saw a familiar name out of all the other ones.

"Chris...?" she muttered more like to herself, all of a sudden feeling the chills all over her body, remembering how she 'died' by his hand. It was obvious she was still frightened, but tried to keep her cool. Then again, she could misunderstand. Maybe he wasn't the same person. "W-who's this Chris guy? Any friend of yours or something?" she finally questioned, looking over at the red head. "Where do you know him from?" she asked, as if to make sure it wasn't the one who actually leaded her to this mess.

( Haha xD Unfortunately I can’t say the mystery is as complicated as I’d like it to be. Responses will probably be pretty slow this week, have a retarded assignment that needs completing, and I’m finding it hard to concentrate on anything else (despite not working on it xD)

If Trent had been aware that his memory was failing him he’d probably have taken things a bit more seriously. But unlike earlier infront of the bathroom when he’d had some faint recollection of the name, ‘Charlotte’ sounded completely foreign to him now, and it was much easier to believe that Chloe was imagining things, or confusing him with someone else. He didn’t really think of his sister as being crazy, but it wouldn’t have been surprising at all to find she’d developed a creative imagination. Trent couldn’t imagine Chloe’s father beating her, but it didn’t take much for him to believe that the old bastard would have kept her in isolation. Trying to control her life so that she’d remain an untainted pretty trophy that decorated the house.

“Better question would be, when was the last time I actually called someone from my contacts list” Trent smirked, knowing that he’d probably used his address book once or twice since purchasing the phone. The only calls that ever mattered were those he received from work, and unless he was desperate for a job or wanting a favor, he likely wouldn’t be calling in.

Seeing the scowl on Chloe’s face, Trent raised an eyebrow, wondering what could have possibly made her make such an ugly….. well, actually she was pretty cute when she was scowling as well. A bit like a puppy growling to ward off potential predators. Trent quickly walked over and around her, peering down at the phone over her shoulder. His hand resting on her shoulders, gently, trying to soothe what he assumed was an upset Chloe.

“Chris?” he asked, not entirely sure why Chloe would pick that name out of all the others, for a brief moment he suspected it to be the name of Chloe’s previous partners, but quickly reminded himself that that wasn’t possible. “Don’t really know him, but he’s a young blonde kid that lives down the hallway, think he’s about your age?” Trent stated, glancing at the door, and frowning. “I met him a few days ago when he moved in, why do you ask?” Trent asked, snatching the phone from Chloe’s hands, looking at the phone and thumbing through the contacts, seemingly not to bothered by the ruined contacts. “He’s a guy by the way” he added, showing Chloe the screen of the phone again. “Anyone else on here you want to question me over?” he asked casually.

What was notable though, was how the strange entries had all disappeared, every single one of them, as if none of them had ever been there in the first place.

((Say that you're busy and my mind immediately concludes I can procrastinate some more again. XD I'm horrible. But, let's look at the bright side. You can concentrate on your assignment this way. Right? Tell me I'm right. Lol. owo ))

Some things didn't really change after all. Like Trent having pretty much no friends. Well, except for Jared. That was the only one person who could probably understand these twisted siblings and sacrifice his own happiness for someone like the red head. Not that Trent was a bad person. No, he was just not that much of a friendly and social person perhaps. Yep, that had to be it. "And you're still laughing about that? And here I thought you were more social than I am." she added and raised an eyebrow.

The 'Chris' subject came as a hard blow for Chloe. Mostly because the description of this guy was the same as the one in her previous life. And from all the places, coincidentally, he was Trent's neighbor again. So, basically, he was meant to be Trent's neighbor no matter what? She gulped. Did that mean she was supposed to die by his hand again? The thought gave her the goosebumps. Still, she could avoid this now. Now she knew he was dangerous, so she could stay away from him no matter what. It couldn't be that hard to do that. She just had to keep herself and Trent away from that guy. In fact, she was surprised to hear the blond was the same age as her.

"No... no one else..." she finally mumbled as a response, before she took the phone in her hands once again. The brunette blinked. The strange contacts were gone now. "You didn't see those entries, did you?" she questioned, though, she already knew the answer. This world, worked in its own strange way. As if it involved just her and Trent. Shaking her head, she handed him the phone and gave him a smile.

"No need to go out anymore. Forget about what I said earlier. Let's just watch some random TV show or whatever." she added, deciding that the best choice now was to go along with whatever this world wanted. Except for dying, of course. She would just have to figure out everything on her own, given that Trent's memories seemed to be washed away for some reason or another. Besides, the most important thing was that they were together. And that was all she wanted.
