Fact: I went to hand in my employment contract, but the manager I had been in contact with was no longer there - so I handed it in to another manager who assured me he would put it on his desk. Turns out he threw it out - and my offer of employment expired because I never showed up to hand in the contract - even though I did. Luckily, another manager who had spoken to me on email before the contract was sent though it was strange I would suddenly not want the job, and called me to see what was going on. Went in to go hand in - FOR THE SECOND TIME - my contract to her directly.
Fact 2: Had she not called, I would have lost my job.
Fact 3: Everyone's an asshole when it comes to employment competition.
