Xavier Harper sighs, annoyed with the paperwork. It was _not_ his fault that the NMC hit a gas main. It made the cover story easier, but his superior did not like having to deal with the fallout. At least it was over, and the thing wasn't after kids anymore. Hidden under a school for a month, this latest NMC, originally a snake was his guess, had preyed on 4 children. Officially, it was a child rapist who he killed in the line of duty. Plus, there still wasn't any new leads on his hidden assignment. That Japanese researcher, Kunihiko Maeda, had been helpful, but Maeda had been more into the research and findings of the guy who caused all this.

Hans Klamp.

Xavier snorts. That guy will live in infamy. His obsession with mitochondria had eventually caused him to find out how to 'awaken' them, evolving the mitochondria into a new form, Neo-Mitochondria, which evolved the beings, animal and human, into new species. The infamous New York Blockade had killed thousands, and unleashed new terror on the world. At least Klamp had died with the thousands, so karma had caught up to him. but that brought up another name.

Aya Brea

Aya was a member of MIST now, but was a NYPD officer when it happened. She was there, from beginning to end of the whole thing. Aya was in fact the foremost expert on NMCs, at least on how to fight them. Plus, she was the strongest Specialist in the whole MIST division. No one had ever seen her use her full power, except those that were there when she stopped the New York Blockade. But they were all silenced, and everything related to it classified, even for him. But Aya was the front line fighter of the NMCs, usually sent to the closest or largest NMC available to take down. So she couldn't help him more than she had.

Xavier was interested in the backers, the people who had funded Hans Klamp. But apparently they were a paranoid bunch, and he didn't have a thing about them. Besides the research and vague mentions in Hans Klamp's journals, which he'd poured over time and again. But he'd find them. Xavier wouldn't rest until he did.

The young man swooped in from one of the ceiling's tile boards, hanging upside down by his feet, in the face of Xavier. "You know sticking in here doing paperwork won't solve a damn thing, right? I suppose it is safer since you have to take care of a little one.. But still.. Any leads?" His yellow eyes gleamed, taunting and excited. "Besides, I hate living in this place. Bunch of white-collars and a cramped office." Allen was mischievousness at best, and lived in the form since he had been previously homeless. However, his appearance does frighten some of his coworkers.

Xavier raises an eyebrow. "Bored with the firing range already? Besides, I don't _want_ to do this paperwork. But you know regulation. Gotta have mission reports, and then triplicate them, and etc. But no, I don't have any new leads, haven't for awhile. What trail I had has gone cold in the last month."

He let himself drop, landing gracefully on the opposite side of the desk. "So let's find a new trail. find something infected and check the genetic code changes. Won't THAT give us a point of origin?" He sat down and began to clean his gun and knives. "We have his journals, so let's go from there... he probably has research notes, right?"

Xavier sighs. "I already know the origin point. However..." Xavier gets up, smirking a little in dark pleasure at finally getting a new starting point. "That does bring up how he _got_ ahold of it. He wasn't near the accident, and the origin point was dying. So who let him take samples? Who arranged for him to be there, when he wasn't apart of that hospital? Thanks Allen! So, feel like doing a little field work?"

A dark smile appeared on his face. "Always. Anything to get out of this damn building.

"Alright. We'll head to New York when we can, and visit the Manhattan Community Hospital." Xavier says. "But first we'll see if there's any NMC sightings, and if anyone wants to join us."

"Fair enough. As long as Tawrich and Zarich get to play a little." He smiled, refering to his knives. "Maybe Allison? She might want to get in on this."

Xavier nods. "She might, you go ask. I'm going to talk to Supervisor Thornly. If he's got something for us or if he's still upset from my last op, then the NY trip will have to wait a week." Xavier says, then heads toward the 'Big Office', as Thornly's 4 times larger then everyone else's work space is called. Xavier knocks, then heads inside when Thornly's bass voice calls out, "Come in!"

He nodded and jumped back into the ceiling, exiting gun drawn into Allison's office, knowing she was a gun nut. "Allison, you in here? We got field work finally, wondering if you wanted in?" He called out, looking at his gun. Elena probably needs a tune up..." He muttered after looking at his gun.

A hooded head poked out from behind a pile of papers and metal parts. The light brown hood was left open so Allen could see Allison's face. "Field work? What kind?" she asked, the sound of a power drill suddenly filling the room for a brief second. "Ah, got that out." She exclaimed, ducking back behind her papers. A moment later Allison walked around from behind the cluttered desk holding what looked like a garage door opener, except it had several wires sticking out of it. "Isn't it great? I made a new remote detonator for my... Well hello." Allison noticed his gun. "What have we here? No, stay focused. Work, what kind of work?"

"This is Elena. She's my right hand when I don't have my knives. Hopefully the kind that goes 'boom' though, when it comes to work." He exclaimed wistfully as his eyes shimmered. "It'll be fun!" He continued. Beyond his gun, he was carrying a small duffle bag, carrying his armor, medical supplies, clothes, food, knives- pretty much everything he had. "But if there's no boom, then there's always sweets. And not the cruddy vending machine or cafeteria stuff.."

"Ooo, that does sound fun. Do we need the big toys, or is this a hush mission?" Allison asked, curious as to if she had to blend in or if they were going somewhere her particular for of expertise was most needed. Even on lower profile mission though Allison had her skills, but she did love her big guns and big booms.

"Bring the big toys just in case. At the very least we can play with them and set up their modifications on the way there, you know? And if we need them and don't have them, that would be bad." He started to ramble. "Hey, why don't we talk much anymore? I don't see you at the firing range often. Did you get a girlfriend?"

"Oh yes, she's all packed up." Allison says, gesturing to a bag on the floor. "She's got just the right kick to drive me wild." She said with a grin. Right now Allison was in her happy and cheery mood, but she could easily have been hiding in a corner when Allen came in.

He smiled and looked at the back and waved at a little bit. "Hi early Christmas! Well, boss man is with the supervisor. I guess we should head over there, huh?"

Allison grabbed her back and pocketed a few bags of supplies strewn around the room before following Allen out.

Xavier sighs as he walks out. On the bright side, he got permission for the trip. And apparently there's a sighting in Manhatten to look into as well. On the dark side... he was going to be working on paperwork the entire flight. Monica would not be happy.

Allen is greeted by stares and silent malice in the halls, though he pays it no heed. When he meets with Xavier he smiles. "I've got Allison with me. So, any boom?"

Xavier smiles a little. "We've got boom. There's a suspicious sighting in Manhatten to look into, and I've got permission to go through the hospital records. Closest flight leaves in 2 hours, so be at the airport then."

"Roger that." Allison said, her expression changing slightly from the happier face earlier to her more serious and stern 'work face'

Allens face shone with pure delight as he checked to see that his equipment was with him. "Finally, I get to leave this forsaken place.."

"And please, keep the corrupting of Monica to a minimum?" Xavier asks, a slight smile on his face at the old joke. "I don't want my brother haunting me for letting his little girl go wild."

"I'll try not too." He sighed. "Hell, I usually stay with the cargo anyway. Are people really THAT horrified of me?" He sighed heavily. "One of these day's I'm gonna stroll right up to first class seating."
