Maddie is completely untrained when it came to kissing, her lips soft and gentle against his as they are pressed against his lips. The kiss is so very innocent and naive.

"Shoved her away from your sword at her neck you mean." His father shook his head, "You honestly see nothing wrong with what you did. You killed two guards. You kill for what you want, that is not the kind of heir I want."

Lund holds the kiss for a few brief moments before pulling back. He swallows as he looks down at her face touching her cheek once more. "I.." He turns away picking up his axe once more starting to chop wood unsure of what to say.

Jak smiles at his father. "I wasnt going to hurt her father. The guards just got in the way is all. Let me out of here and we can discuss this over a glass of wine." He smiles at his father slowly.

The cold air over her lips made her need to re-wet them as she turned her heated cheeks away a moment. She sighed then and turned to him again, a smile on her lips at first until she saw the look on his face and it grew more somber. "What are you thinking?"

"So that you may slip me some poisoned wine? I think not Jak. Nay, perhaps in a few days but for now I think you just need a little time to reflect upon your wicked path that brought you here while I reflect upon what I will do to you." His father started to walk away, "You will not be mistreated, you are still my son."

Lund hesitates catching the licking of her lips from the corner of his eyes. "Im not sure. Im just trying to figure out what Im going to do." He begins cutting the wood again. "Would you really want to marry a man like me. I have no memory and I could be married already."

Jak growls as he slams his fist against the cell. "Father I deserve better then this. You owe me Father." He curses softly as he begins pacing in the cell once more shaking his head. "I dont deserve to be treated like a common criminal."

Maddie sighs and looks up at the stars, "Well, do you think you are married? Do you think that's who the red haired girl might be? What do you feel when you close your eyes and see her? And what did you feel when you kissed me?"

Lund swallows softly as he pauses in cutting. He moves to sit beside her on the log. "I feel like shes someone I know. Someone important." He takes her hand patting it softly. "As for the kiss I felt like I shouldnt have done it." He swallows softly as he runs his fingers through his hair slowly. "I just dont want to upset you or your family.

Maddie sighs, "To be honest.... the kiss didn't feel right to me either...." she smiled warmly. "It was like, I was kissing my brother or something like that. Perhaps us wedding would not be such the best idea after all." Rising she tugged the cloak around her, "Papa thinks that you should go in search of your true self. Maybe you should come spring. It would be impossible now in the snow."

Lund nods softly as he stands slowly. "I think come this spring I will. Your father recommended going back upstream. I think I will follow the river as far as I can." He offers his hand to her smiling warmly. "You should get back inside before you freeze out here. Im going to head to bed myself."

"Indeed..." she said, heading back inside the small farmhouse, the idea of wedding her Bear completely leaving her head before she even reached the doorway, turning back to him and offering him a warm smile. "Good night Bear and... I hope you find what you think you have left behind."

Lund smiles softly as he watches her till she gets to the doorway. "I hope I find it as well Maddie." He waits a few moments before slipping into his room laying back down covering himself up letting exhaustion pull him back to sleep once more.

The family all sat, waiting cautiously. Kiana's screams has ended which could only mean that the babe had been delivered. Nessa sat there, holding her own infant son in her arms as she waited with the rest of the family, waiting just as anxiously as the rest of them. Angus would be there as well if he was not in overtime with the other guards to whip them into shape. With spring at last there, outdoor training was once again available to them.

At last the midwife entered into the room where they all waited, they all held their breath as the woman spoke, "It's a girl..."

The reactions were of course were mixed. Lily and Nessa were both clearly happy. Lund's mother was slightly pleased yet clearly not fully. Lund's father was not pleased, his face frowning. Now their was the chance for Jak to claim his right to heir... what would happen now?

Lund is in the room of small hut the farmer let him use packing what small belongings that he had accumulated. He steps out thanking the farmer and his family for their kindness. He shoulders his pack as he leaves the hut. His head looks back at the hut as he begins traveling upstream determined to find out where he came from exactly. He slips his cloak on raising his hood to cover his face.

Jak smiles as a maid he slept with brings him the news of a girl being born to Lunds wife. He laughs softly thanking the girl with a kiss. "Thank you my dear. Thats the best news I could have gotten today."

Kiana lay in her bed, holding her baby, smiling down at the little hands and face that already reached up for her mother. The babe had her father's hair yet clearly held many of her own features upon her face. She hoped that when her eyes finally changed color that she would have her father's eyes as well. A great wave of sadness overtook her then as she admitted to herself for the first time that her daughter would never know her own father. A second wave hit her when she realized this was not the son they had needed to secure the title and keep it from Jak's hands. Kiana suddenly felt so terribly unsafe, even if her child was no threat to Jak's claims now... she just... she felt like she had to flee this place, as soon as her babe was old enough.

Lund travels throughout the day able to make great time. He reaches the village surrounding his families manor with in a few days of leaving the farmers house. He pauses outside the village swallowing softly. He begins moving through the village no one really recognizing him because of the heavy beard that he now wears. His pack hangs heavily on his shoulder as he adjust it accidently bumping into a town guard mumbling an apology.

Looking directly at him, the guard did not even recognize him with his heavy beard, he just passed him by. The guards mood was tense. Everything around them was tense. "You have to forgive them," a voice said, a hint of amusement in the woman's tone. It was the midwife, carrying a basket as she was heading home from the manor. "You come to our little town at a tense time stranger..."

Lund glances around curious at all of the tension in the air. "I hadnt noticed it at first when I arrived. What seems to have everyone on edge miss?" He steps forward offering to take her basket as a way to repay her for her information. "If I didnt know better Id say someone was ready to start a fight with everyone in town."

"Someone is ready. And the tension is because many of us don't know how much longer he can be held back." She sighs as she walks alongside him, not seeming to be shy about revealing the truth of the village's troubles. "The lord that reigns over this land had two sons. One that went to war and one that remained here to sink himself in booze and women, making himself a less then honorable heir. When the younger son returned from war, the lord realized he was a far better choice for the heir and so disowned the elder and named the younger heir here. The elder was not pleased and waged a war. He almost killed his brother's sweet wife, but she survived only to be kidnapped by him. The brothers met on the cliffs to make a trade for the wife but both went over the edge. We all thought them both dead until the elder returned, claiming his right at the heir. The only in that held him back was that his brother's widow was left with her husband's babe in her belly. The child has at last arrived a week past, but it was not a son but a daughter. Now, even though Jak sits in a cell, he can truly claim the rights of heir. Everyone fears what he will go if he is able to truly reclaim the titles as his right... especially Kiana. While her babe is a sweet little girl, she still fears Jak's wrath."

Lund smiles as he walks along with her listening to the troubles that seem to be passing in the village. He pauses as she finishes and he hears Kiana's name. His eyes go wide as he swallows suddenly a hand going to his head slowly. "Kiana." He glances back towards the Manor house swallowing softly as he shakes his head. "You have been very kind miss, but I must go now. I..I have just realized there is something important I must do." With the rush of his memories back the confidence of his voice has returned as has the gleam. He sets her basket down before moving through the crowd aiming for the manor gates.

The midwife is left wondering over the strange and sudden change in the man's behavior as he goes running off. But she simple shrugs, picks up her basket once again, and goes on her way.

Meanwhile, at the gates, when the guards saw a cloaked, bearded man come running at the gates, they at once took a protective stance, blocking his path. "What business do you have here?" one of them asked in a stern tone.

Lund pauses in front of the guards. "Open the doors guards. I need to get inside to see my wife." He tries to slip past the guards wanting to get inside to Kiana as quickly as he can. "I am your lord and I order you to stand down and let me pass."

Lund growls softly to himself as he steps back. "Bring Angus down here then. I know he is still the captain of the guards." He steps back running his fingers through his beard slowly as he crosses his arms over his chest. "I you wont believe me at lease me speak to your Captain."

"Who is this that demands to see me?" Angus's familiar voice interrupts as if almost on cue he comes walking through a crack in the gates to stand before the almost completely unrecognizable Lund, crossing his arms, "What is the trouble here?"

"This crazy man claims to be our lord and demands to be let inside the manor," the guard finishes with a laugh.
