Change The World

Kagome nodded and her tense shoulders slumped a little as she finished brushing her hair. Miroku was right. Other than Naraku and Sesshomaru, there wasn't a lot of demons that could match Inuyasha strength wise. But rabbits seemed to be fast and quiet. Inuyasha was rather loud and he was only as fast as he could be. But hopefully the rabbit demon would be scared enough to hand the shard over without a fight. Sighing, she leaned against the wall and put the brush into her bag. "Yeah, you're right. We'll just have to wait for him to come back. Hopefully it doesn't take too long."

"You should relax." Shippo finally mumbled, obviously still asleep but tired of everyone not shutting up and letting him sleep peacefully. "inuyasha will...inuyasha will save the day like he always does...now go to bed, you're keeping me awake...' The Kit murmured.

Miroku chuckled. "Shippo makes a good point. Sleep would be a good thing." To punctuate this, a loud yawn escaped from his mouth. He placed his staff against the wall and stretched. "A very good thing indeed..."

Kagome smiled at Shippo while Sango got ready for bed herself. She'd apologize but she didn't want to keep him up any longer than they have. Looking at Miroku, she nodded and let out a yawn as well. They were contagious after all. Finally deciding to sleep instead of worrying so much, she pulled down the flap to her sleeping bag and crawled under it, trying not to disturb the fox kid any longer. When she was settled, she laid her head on her pillow and waited for sleep to take her.

Sleep caught up with her companions, stretching hard one final time before they too laid down. Miroku closed his eyes and released a relaxed sigh, allowing the darkness of sleep to overcome him. However, before he did do anything else, his hand found his way on, where else, Sango's ass.

Sango, knowing full well the way the monk was in their group, was awake the whole time, waiting for him to get his feel of her ass in before she went to sleep. Fluttering her tired eyes open, she turned and hit him with a small log they used to keep the fire alive. "Lecher..." She mumbled before turning back over, getting comfortable once again. Kagome chuckled lightly and snuggled against the sleeping kit for warmth, but not before she prayed for her mate to return safely and not do anything stupid.

Right at that moment, he was wishing he hadn't left to begin with. The entire forest just REEKED of foul scents from various demons that wandered through, so finding it through his sense of smell was out of the question. It was too dark, and even with his sharp sight he wouldn't be able to see much through the dark forest, not to mention it was eerily quiet. Surely something of...ANYTHING would be making a damn noise, wouldn't it? So as he jumped down from the branch he was leaning on, he leaned against the tree and sighed, obviously annoyed. He missed Kagome. Maybe he should have waited until morning.

Kagome turned onto her side in the sleeping bag. She was having a terrible time sleeping. No matter how hard she tried. She couldn't get Inuyasha out of her mind. She knew he could handle himself, but it was who she was to worry about someone she loved. Even if it was something as simple as taking out a rabbit demon. If it even was a rabbit demon. That's what probably worried her the most. Sighing, she opened her eyes and stared at the dimming fire. There wasn't much she could do at this point. She didn't have a sensitive enough nose to smell him or sharp eyes to see in plain darkness. Coming to terms with the fact she might not sleep until Inuyasha's return, she started to think.

Now there was some good news, and some bad nes.

The good news was, he managed to find the Rabbit demon! Indeed, it was a rabbit demon, so there was no worry in it being an outside source.

The bad news was the fact the Shikon Jewel shards had mutated the creature beyond comprehension, to the point Inuyasha wouldn't be surprised if it had more than one in its possession. It towered over the half demon easily, munching on a nearby fallen tree, minding its own business. Its hair had turned grey and molting in some places, and its eyes had gone pure red.

"How the hell did I miss you?" He asked as he unsheathed the tetsusaiga. "Well, now that you're here, I guess I can finally get you out of the way and get back to the ot-"

The Rabbit turned his attention to the much smaller demon, its eyes narrowing dangerous. It reared back and released an ear shattering roar directly in his face, echoing out all the way back to the village. Several villagers awoke as a result.

Inuyasha didn't lose his calm demeanor, but his own thoughts were different.

Ah shit.

Sango and Kagome jerked up at the sudden noise from the darkness. "What was that?" Kagome whispered frantically, looking at Sango in the dim fire light. Sango shook her head in reply and shrugged her shoulders. "I have no idea." She began to get up. "But I think we should find out." The ebony haired girl nodded in hast as she got up as well. But she made sure not to wake the sleeping kit from his slumber.

Kagome went to the corner and grabbed her bow and arrow before turning to Kaede. The older woman signalled that she'd stay with Shippo while they went out. With a small smile, she turned her attention to the demon slayer who was already in her battle suit.

"I'm glad I wasn't just dreaming that." Miroku said as he quickly rushed out of his own room, looking about. "I suppose that's a sign as any that Inuyasha has found the demo, and from the sound of it, it's not a small one either." He clutched his staff a little tighter. "We should hurry, he may need our help."

Indeed, Inuyasha was having a bit of trouble with the creature. It was disturbingly fast and strong, able to fell a tree with a single swipe of its claws. He was hard pressed to avoid it as much as he could. "Dammit...' He grunted as he landed on a tree, gritting his teeth. "Can't head back to the village, the size of this thing would crush it without even trying! I Need to get a way to get in a clean attack, and fast..."

The rabbit immediately found his attention and cleaved through the tree with his paw. He leapt from it to the other tree, lifting the sword high into the air, but the words Wind Scar lost in his mouth when he heard a familiar male shout "Inuyasha! Are you here?"

'Oh god dammit Miroku!'

The Rabbits ears twitched rapidly and turned in the direction of the voice. A low growl escaped from between its grit teeth.

Sango and Kagome were on Kirara's back while Sango held onto Miroku's arm. The slayer dropped the monk a few feet from the ground close where Inuyasha was in the tree. Kagome looked at the sceen before her. It wasn't as bloody as it was messy. Trees were everywhere.

The rabbit demon was huge and rather angry. It was obvious that the shikon jewel shard had something to do with it. "Inuyasha!" She called as Sango moved Kirara from the ground to closer in the trees near the hanyou. "The jewel shard is in its forhead."

They needed a big carrot to defeat this demon.

"Got it!" he shouted with a nod as he leapt up to one of the trees that still towered over the creature. Only problem was he needed to find a way to get on it without grabbing its attention. Easier said than done. The creature was fidgity and twitching, he'd have to get in real close to even make it in.

'Kagome, just stay safe and stay away from this thing...' He thought to himself as he released his claws from the tree and with a growl, swung his sword...and only caught it on the foot, spraying a black blood on the ground. "Dammit!" He shouted as he swung the sword, aiming for a wind scar. To now avail, and all he managed to do was cut a few more trees down. "Too fast!"

"We'll distract it!" miroku shouted as he threw some talismans at it. "You get it when it's least expecting it!"

Sango nodded, moving into the air on Kirara and swung her Hiraikotsu at the fast moving demon. But it was still too fast. When she caught the weapon, she too growled out of frustration. "Damnit," she muttered to herself. "It's too fast."

Kagome pursed her lips and thought about what they'd be able to do to stop the demon. It was a rabbit and was very fast and had sharp hearing. It was easily scared and timid. But the jewel shard probably took the timid and scared part away. Maybe if they took a calmer approach, the demon wouldn't be acting so defensive. "Inuyasha, maybe if you were a little more calmer the rabbit wouldn't be lashing out. It might just be scared!" The girl held onto Sango as Kirara jerked to the side, escaping a falling tree.

"Scared? I'll give it a damn reason for it to be scared!" he barked and prepared to swing his sword...

"INuyasha, wait!" Miroku ordered. "Kagome is correct, while it may be large it is still just a rabbit! It's just scared is all. Back away, permit me to try something..."

Inuyasha watched with an annoyed growl as Miroku stuck his staff into the ground. Approaching the demon, his hand open to reveal he had nothign, and said with a soothing tone, "It's okay...no one is going to hurt you...did that mean, thick headed demon hurt you? You're just an innocent little animal, aren't you?"

And much to his stunned surprise, the rabbit did stop it's rampage. Instead, it stood away, its eyes narrowed at the strange man that walked closer and closer to him.

"Perhaps you'd like something to eat?" The Monk asked with a grin as he reached into his robes and pulled out a few vegetables he had swiped from the manor they stayed at. Dropping them on the ground, the demon sniffed at them and slowly began to eat away at the offered food.

With a quick hand, he reached up to where he was sure the jewel shards with and ripped them away. Instantly, the demon shrunk back to its original form, a small, white rabbit chewing away at the vegetables.

Miroku smirked at a surprised Inuyasha.

"are you fucking kidding me."

When Kirara decided that it was save to land, she moved to the ground and waited for the girls to slide off. Kagome, feeling confident about her helping out, looked at the normal sized rabbit demon. "Aw," she smiled. "It's so cute!" She squeaked, moving beside Miroku to look at the rabbit more closely.

Sango stood back with Inuyasha and shook her head. "How on earth could a rabbit demon of that size get ahold of shards?" She questioned. Mainly to herself. But answers would be most helpful. "Has Naraku become so bored that he is letting lesser demons take Jewel Shards in order to watch us chase after and achieve them?"

With the way Naraku was, she wouldn't doubt it. He liked to play his evil, twisted, sick mind games with them hoping they'd get bored or mentally break. He called it fun. But nonetheless, they had obtained more shards tonight. It was one step closer to defeating Naraku and ending this heart wrenching battle.

"Keh." Inuyasha huffed as he sheathed his sword again, Miroku holding up the two shards that had been imbedded in the creatures skull. "I'm just disappointed I didn't get to kick anything.' His attention turned to the rabbit as it sat there, innocently as if it hadn't just tried to kill him. "Stupid rodent."

"Lady Kagome." Miroku said as he handed out the shards and dropped them in her palm. "I trust you'll put them with the others."

Kagome formed her hand around the shards he gave her and nodded her head. "I'll put it with the others." She stated, looking at the rabbit one last time before returning to Inuyasha and Sango. When she stood infront of the half-demon, her smile faltered into a stern look.

"I told you to be careful. You could of gotten seriously hurt, Inuyasha!" Her arms crossed over her chest as she stood in the middle of the forest in her pajamas. Now that the rabbit was 'defeated' and she had the shards, she felt a little better knowing Inuyasha wouldn't want to go on a shard hunt as bad for the next day or two.

He blinked at her tone, faltering for a moment before he went back into his own defenseive mode. "Hey! I was careful, the bastard didn't lay a paw on me!" He grunted and crossed his arms. "Just gave me a little bit of trouble is all, don't gotta yell at me..."

Kagome huffed and her shoulders slumped a bit. "I'm sorry, Inuyasha. I was just worried." Moving a hand up, she began to rub her forehead. "Come on. We have the jewel shards and I'm tired." Blinking her eyes a few times, she removed her hand and looked at them.

"We'll spend the rest of the night in the Manor, since we're allowed and head back to Edo tomorrow." Miroku said as he grabbed his staff and pocketed the rest of the talismans in his robe. A small yawn escaped his mouth. "Come on then, I'm quite tired myself..." He walked toward Kirara and Sango.

Inuyasha looked at Kagome and sighed. "Come on." he said to his mate. "I'll carry you back, faster that way."

Kirara formed back into her larger version as Sango hopped on and waited for the monk. Sleep also sounded like a good plan to her as well. Kagome nodded and moved closer to Inuyasha, putting her hands on his shoulders, she jumped a bit so that she could climb onto his back.

Miroku hopped up onto Kirara, far too tired to even consider feeling Sango up, despite how easy it would have been. Being shaken awake by a demon wasn't the best way to wake up in the middle of the night. Inuyasha, not as exhausted as his companions, held onto her thighs and made sure she was on tight on him. Giving the other demon a nod, they made their way back to the Manor.

It was quick and uneventful, thankful for everyone. Making their way back into the sleeping quarters, Miroku leaving another yawn and telling the confused work staff that there were a few more demonic entities he'd have to take care of when he woke in the morning, Inuyasha took Kagome and laid her down on that sleeping bag she tended to bring about.

Sango, almost too tired to put on her kimono, decided to do it so she wouldn't have to in the morning before going back to sleep. She fell asleep quickly, exhausted from the events in the past hour. It was late and they had been traveling most of the day. Kirara mewled a bit and snuggled up beside her by the fire.

Kagome, feeling the softness on her back, blinked open her eyes to find that she was being laid on her sleeping bag. Being the Feudal Era, she had come to be a light sleeper. At home, she was able to sleep in without care. But here, it was too dangerous to snore and snooze away. So her brain was in light sleep mode.

Miroku met with his sleep the second he also laid back on the floor and, to signify he was as tired as he though, his vision went black the second his eyes closed, snoring softly.

She looked so cute, just laying there and looking so tired. So Inuyasha gave her a little smile and leaned down, pressing his lips against her forehead. "Get some sleep." He told her.

Kagome blinked her eyes a bit, holding back a yawn that was threatening to escape her throat. But to no avail, it came anyway when he kissed her forehead. Grunting a bit, she nodded and her eyes started to slowly closed. "Okay," she mumbled softly, turning her body a bit to pull Shippo close to her for warmth. "Good night, Inu...ya..sh..." And she too drifted to sleep.
